[Monotype/Steel] Bisharp

QC: all falls down/eien/sirskit
GP: the dutch plumberjack / gatodelfuego
[OVERVIEW]

**Steel**

Bisharp is a physical attacker with a high base Attack stat that it can boost further with Swords Dance. By using its offensive presence to pressure the opponent into switching, it gains many opportunities to set up. It also has STAB Knock Off, which allows it to beat Pokemon like Porygon2, and Sucker Punch, which gives it powerful priority. Furthermore, Bisharp's great ability in Defiant discourages the use of stat-lowering moves and abilities like Defog and Intimidate. This trait allows it to work well on both hyper offense and balanced teams. However, it has weaknesses to Fighting, Ground, and Fire, and all are common coverage in Monotype. It is also useless against Fighting-types, as they all resist Sucker Punch and will outspeed Bisharp otherwise. Bisharp also has poor Special Defense and Speed, and Sucker Punch is somewhat unreliable.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
Swords Dance boosts Bisharp's Attack to incredibly high levels and allows it to break through walls. Knock Off is a powerful STAB move that has the added benefit of removing items. Sucker Punch is a powerful but sometimes unreliable priority move that makes up for Bisharp's low Speed stat. Iron Head is a powerful secondary STAB move that is useful for dealing more damage to Mega Evolutions, which don't take 1.5x damage from Knock Off, and has a decent flinch chance.

Set Details
========
An Adamant nature is used to maximize Bisharp's Attack and is preferred because it allows Bisharp to OHKO threats to it such as Zapdos at +2, even without a Life Orb. Life Orb is used for more power and allows it to OHKO Hoopa-Unbound and OHKO offensive Heatran at +2, though Lum Berry can be used to cure status and allow Bisharp to set up on status spreaders such as Mew. Defiant discourages the use of Defog and Sticky Web, and it boosts Bisharp's Attack if any of its stats are lowered. Black Glasses and Dread Plate are other options that boost the power of Knock Off and Sucker Punch without Life Orb's recoil.

Usage Tips
========
Bisharp has many opportunities to get to +2, such as switching in when you expect Defog to be used or when Sticky Web is on your side of the field. Swords Dance can be used on Pokemon that are threatened out or can't touch Bisharp, such as Chansey and Choice-locked Pokemon. If an opposing Pokemon can inflict burns, use the turn you predict your opponent to try to burn your Pokemon to bring Bisharp in, cure the burn with the Lum Berry, and KO the opposing Pokemon right away, or else Bisharp will be crippled for the rest of the game. Bisharp is best used to sweep late-game with Sucker Punch. However, it can also be used as an early-game wallbreaker with Knock Off, which has the added benefit of weakening Pokemon by removing their item. Bisharp can also revenge kill foes with Sucker Punch, but you must be wary of status and Substitute users, as well as of other 50/50 scenarios such as guessing whether your opponent will switch or not.

Team Options
========

Doublade is immune to Fighting and completes an entry hazard preservation core with Bisharp by utilizing Ghost typing and Defiant. Choice Scarf Magnezone forces out the Water-types that wall Bisharp, like Keldeo, and it also traps the Steel-types that could also wall Bisharp, like Skarmory and Ferrothorn. Jirachi is neutral to Fighting-type attacks and also has Healing Wish to heal Bisharp for late-game sweeps, which allows it to be more reckless early-game. Heatran is immune to Fire-type moves and therefore can switch into Fire-type attacks or Will-O-Wisp. Swords Dance Mega Scizor shares similar checks with Bisharp; one can weaken them for the other to sweep. Nasty Plot Lucario is one of the few special setup sweepers on Steel and can set up on Bisharp's defensive checks. Skarmory has an immunity to Ground-type attacks and can set entry hazards, which pressure the opponent into using Defog. Ferrothorn also sets hazards to force the opponent to use Defog and has a nice Water resistance and Ground neutrality. Choice Scarf Excadrill helps eliminate the Fire- and Electric-type Pokemon that might threaten or wall Bisharp.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Pursuit can also be used to trap threatening Ghost- and Psychic-types. Psycho Cut can be used to hit the Fighting-types that Bisharp lures in, although most will outspeed and KO Bisharp anyway. Low Kick can be used for Mega Gyarados and opposing Bisharp. Using Focus Sash and Stealth Rock might seem like a good idea for a suicide lead, but it is outclassed as a Stealth Rock user by Pokemon such as Skarmory and Heatran, and Bisharp is more suited to offensive roles anyway.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Steel**

**Burns**: Burns can cripple Life Orb sets, and repeated burns can still cripple Lum Berry sets.

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types such as Keldeo and Infernape can easily switch into Bisharp and force it out or KO it.

**Mega Evolutions**: Mega Pokemon such as Mega Swampert and Mega Garchomp take less damage from Knock Off and little damage from Sucker Punch and Iron Head, and both OHKO back.

**Bulky Water-types**: Water-types such as Alomomola and Gastrodon resist Iron Head and can fish for burns with Scald.

**Quagsire**: Quagsire walls Bisharp because of Unaware which makes, Bisharp unable to set up and also takes negligible damage from Iron Head and Knock Off.

**Bulky Ground-types**: Bulky Ground-types such as Hippowdon, Gliscor, and Gastrodon wall Bisharp because it is unable to do enough damage to them to KO and is outstalled or knocked out by them.

**Offensive Dark-types**: Offensive Dark-types such as Hydreigon and Weavile resist Sucker Punch and can easily revenge kill Bisharp.

[OVERVIEW]

**Steel**
  • Boosting Attacker
  • It has a unique defensive typing
  • High base Attack stat and a decent Speed tier its speed is pretty bad, i would mention it as a negative not a positive
  • Powerful priority
  • Great ability in Defiant
  • This trait allows it to work well on both hyper offense and balanced Steel-type teams. Access to STAB Knock Off
  • Weaknesses to Ground, Fire, and Fighting. Highlight the 4x weakness to Fighting and mention how it is useless in the Fighting matchup because it is slow and they all resist Sucker Punch.
  • Poor Special Defense
  • Unreliable Priority
Mention that STAB Knock Off is very useful for Steel-type teams, letting them get past things like Porygon-2.

[SET]
Name: Swords Dance (Steel)
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Sucker Punch
move 4: Iron Head

Moves
========

  • Swords Dance is a move that boosts Bisharp's Attack
  • Knock Off is a powerful STAB move that also removes items
  • Iron Head is a powerful STAB move Sucker
  • Punch is a powerful but unreliable priority move

Set Details
========
  • A Jolly nature helps Bisharp Speed tie with other max Speed base 70s and outspeed threats like Rotom-W, Adamant Dragonite and Diggersby
  • Jolly can be used as well you just said that
  • Lum Berry is used to lure status Mention specifically that it lets you set up on Mega Sableye
  • Life Orb can also be used for more power.
  • Defiant prevents discourages hazard removal.
Mention Dread Plate or Black Glasses to boost Knock Off / Sucker Punch while eliminating Life Orb Recoil
Usage Tips
========
Bisharp has many opportunities to get to +2 what are these opportunites?
Bring Bisharp in against Pokemon that are going to use Defog
Coming in on Sticky Web or Intimidate is also a great way to trigger Defiant you can't really "come in on intimidate"
Bisharp with Lum Berry is a Mega Sableye check.

mention that it is best used late game to sweep but it can also be used early on as a strong wallbreaker with Knock Off, mention how it can be used as a revenge killer. Mention that you should be wary of using Sucker Punch against potential Status or Substitute users.

Team Options
========

Doublade is immune to fighting and completes a spinblocking core with Bisharp
Specially Lucario complements Bisharp's coverage
Choice Scarf Magnezone forces out water types that wall bisharp
Mention Jirachi as a way to deal with Fighting types and how it has healing wish mention heatran as a way to deal with Will-o-Wisp and Fire-type moves Mention SD Mega Scizor because they share similar checks and can wear down checks for each other
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Focus Sash and Stealth Rock can be used on teams lacking Stealth Rock This is never viable on a steel team
  • Pursuit can also be used to trap threats
  • Psycho Cut can be used to hit Fighting-types
Mention Low Kick for Mega Gyarados and other Bisharp

Checks and Counters
===================
**Steel**
Fighting Types: Fighting-types such as Keldeo and Infernape can easily switch into Bisharp, and force it out or KO it.
Mega Pokemon I believe Evolutions is the correct phrasing: Mega Pokemon, such as Mega Swampert, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Garchomp take less reduced damage from Knock Off and take little damage from Sucker Punch and Iron head, and both OHKO back.
Quagsire: Quagsire walls Bisharp because of Unaware, which makes Bisharp unable to set up on it.
Physical Walls: Physical Walls, such as Ferrothorn and Gliscor, wall Bisharp because it is unable to do enough damage to them to KO and is outstalled or knocked out by them. I would consider changing this to "Bulky Ground-Type Pokemon" and include Hippowdon, Gastrodon, and Gliscor.
Mandibuzz: Physically Mandibuzz specifically counters Bisharp because Bisharp cannot KO it because of Roost, and Mandibuzz will KO it with Foul Play. Not a good/reliable 'counter', can be flinched by Iron head
Comments in bold.

This is bare, but it's bullet points and a simple Pokemon so I'll give you QC 1/3. Hope you expand on things when you write it.

Most key details are here, just a few small details to add. Good work!

Set:
I would slash Life Orb. Lum Berry might be better just because of Mega Sableye, but Life Orb is quite good as well for the extra damage.

[SET]
Name: Swords Dance (Steel)
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Sucker Punch
move 4: Iron Head
item: Lum Berry / Life Orb
ability: Defiant
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

Moves:
Include that Iron Head is useful for beating Mega Evolutions that don't take 1.5x damage from Knock Off.

Set Details:
Explain why Adamant is preferred. The damage is far more important than beating the likes of Adamant Diggersby and Dragonite. By the way, Jolly Diggersby outspeeds Jolly Bisharp. Diggersby can often just be hit with Sucker Punch and Dragonite is not a foe Bisharp is particularly good at defeating anyway. Getting a Speed tie with the other base 70 Speed Pokemon is also relatively useless. Breloom's Mach Punch will beat Bisharp regardless and Sucker Punch hitting first does almost no damage anyway. Cloyster on the other hand can't touch Bisharp, so there's no real reason to care particularly about getting a Speed tie with it anyway.

Some examples of Adamant vs Jolly would be helpful. Such as Adamant Bisharp always getting the OHKO on Zapdos with +2 Knock Off even without Life Orb, or Life Orb Adamant Bisharp OHKOing Hoopa-U with Sucker Punch.

Mention that Defiant also discourages Sticky Web.

Usage Tips:
Give some tips about using Swords Dance as well. It's great for setting up on Pokemon that are either threatened out by Bisharp or can't touch it, such as Chansey or a Choice-locked Hoopa-U.

You sort of mentioned it in the wallbreaker note, but it should be made more clear that early-game, using Knock Off is very useful for hitting incoming switch-ins to make weaken them for later, not just for breaking walls with the higher Base Power, which is the implication I get here.

Burns can be crippling, making it almost impossible for Bisharp to sweep, so they must be avoided. Lum Berry is used to remove one burn, so take advantage of that free turn to take out the foe before it can burn Bisharp permanently.

Team Options:
Add that Nasty Plot Lucario also beats Mega Sableye, which can be difficult to handle without Lum Berry.

Magnezone also traps Steel-types for Bisharp, such as Skarmory or Ferrothorn, two walls.

Skarmory is a fantastic teammate with Ground immunity and physical bulk. It can also set up hazards to threaten the foes, pressuring them into either using Defog or taking damage throughout the battle.

Ferrothorn also has great hazard support and is a great switch-in to Water-type Pokemon.

Choice Scarf Excadrill is a great teammate for taking out the Fire-types that threaten Bisharp. It also threatens the Electric-types that resist Bisharp's Iron Head with Mold Breaker Earthquake and Rock Slide for Zapdos.

Checks and Counters:
Burns are a huge problem for Life Orb sets and should be avoided. Repeated burns will also cripple the Lum Berry sets.

Bulky Waters are also very difficult to break, as they resist Iron Head and can Scald to fish for burns.

Dark-types in general are also quite good for checking Bisharp, as Sucker Punch and Knock Off will not deal much damage at all. The likes of Fire Blast Hydreigon and Low Kick Weavile can easily come in to revenge kill Bisharp.

Bisharp is a physical attacker with a high base Attack stat that boosts its attack with Swords Dance. With its unique defensive typing, it has many opportunities to set up. (It doesn't gain opportunities to set up purely because of its unique typing, it also gains them through offensive pressure, which can force switches. Reword to something like "By using its offensive presence to pressure the opponent into switching out and utilizing its unique typing, it gains many opportunities to set up.") It also has STAB Knock Off, which allows it to beat Pokemon like Porygon-2, as well as having powerful priority (add "in Sucker Punch" here). Bisharp also has a great ability in Defiant. Iron Head is a powerful STAB move that is useful for dealing more damage to mega evolutions which don't take 1.5 damage from Knock Off. Sucker Punch is a powerful but sometimes unreliable priority move that makes up for Bisharp's low Speed stat. This section could be beefed up a bit. Adding in smaller details like Iron Head's flinch or how Swords Dance makes it much harder to wall, etc should help.
Also, switch up the order of how Sucker Punch and Iron Head are mentioned in here. In the above set, you listed SD, then Knock Off, then Sucker Punch, then Iron Head. So, in this section, mention Sucker Punch before Iron Head.

Set Details

Adamant nature is used to maximize its attack and is preferred to be able to OHKO threats to it such as Zapdos at +2, even without a Life Orb. Jolly can be used as well to speed tie with other max Speed base 70s, but is not as good as adamant as it does not need to tie with other base 70s. Pursuit can also be used to trap threatening Ghost- and Psychic-types. Psycho Cut can be used to hit (the) Fighting-types (that it lures in), although most will outspeed and KO Bisharp. Low Kick can be used for Mega Gyarados and other Bisharps. I'm contradicting AFD when I say this, but mention Focus Sash and Stealth Rock here too. BUT ONLY mention them because, at first glance, to a newer player, they may seem useful, but in practice they are bad, since that role is better relegated to other Pokemon. Don't encourage readers to use this set though. Pulling this from the Guidelines thread "Please don't mention things that are bad here. The only exception to this is when something might look good at first glance to someone who doesn't understand the Pokemon well, but actually isn't. In this case, you want to explain the supposed merits of the option and why it isn't a good option. Here, you should be mentioning sets, moves, abilities, items, etc. that have niche use on the Pokemon (i.e. for certain teams)."

**Steel**
Bisharp is a physical attacker with a high base Attack stat that boosts its attack further with Swords Dance. By both (makes it clearer that two ideas are being talked about) using its offensive presence to pressure the opponent into switching and utilizing its unique typing, it gains many opportunities to set up. It also has STAB Knock Off, which allows it to beat Pokemon like Porygon-2, as well as having powerful priority with Sucker Punch and Sucker Punch, giving it powerful priority (makes the sentence structure consistent). Bisharp also has a great ability in Defiant, because whenever one of its stats are lowered by moves such as Defog, its attack is raised 2 stages discouraging the use of stat-lowering moves and abilities like Defog and Intimidate (basic knowledge of what abilities do is assumed; what you want to say is why the ability is useful). This trait allows it to work well on both hyper-offensive and balanced Steel-type teams (it's already been established that you're talking about Bisharp's use on Steel). However, it is weak to Ground and Fire, and its x4 weakness to Fighting, its weaknesses to Fighting, Ground, and Fire all of which are common coverage in Monotype. It is also useless against Fighting, as they all will outspeed and resist Sucker Punch resist Sucker Punch and outspeed otherwise ("outspeed and resist SP" can be taken to mean they do both at the same time). It also has poor Special Defense and Speed, and Sucker Punch is somewhat unreliable. Overall, Bisharp is still a valuable asset to Steel. (Conclusion sentences are not needed, and almost any Pokemon can be a valuable asset if played right.)

Knock Off is a powerful STAB move that has the added benefit of removing items. Sucker Punch is a powerful but sometimes unreliable priority move that makes up for Bisharp's low Speed stat. Iron Head is a powerful STAB move that is useful for dealing more damage to mega evolutions Mega Evolutions, which don't take 1.5x damage from Knock Off, as well as having and has a decent chance to flinch.

Set Details
========
Adamant nature is used to maximize its Bisharp's (haven't mentioned the subject's name in the paragraph yet) Attack and is preferred, (comma) to be able as it allows Bisharp to OHKO threats to it such as Zapdos at +2, even without a Life Orb. Jolly can be used as well instead to speed Speed tie with other max Speed base 70s fully invested base 70 Speed Pokemon, but is not as good as adamant Adamant because it does not need to tie with other base 70s and Sucker Punch makes up for the loss in Speed (are there really no threats that it would like to Speed tie with? If not, why is Jolly even mentioned?). Life Orb is used for more power. Lum Berry can be used to cure status, (comma) and allows it to set up on status spreaders such as Mew. Defiant discourages the use of Defog and Sticky Web, and Bisharp boosts its attack boosts Bisharp's Attack if one any of its stats are lowered. Black Glasses or Dread Plate are other options that boost the power of Knock Off and Sucker Punch without Life Orb's recoil.

Usage Tips
========
Bisharp has many opportunities to get to +2, such as switching in when you expect Defog to be used, or when Sticky Web is on your side of the field. Swords Dance can also (SD hasn't been mentioned yet, only Defiant) be used on Pokemon that are threatened out or can't touch Bisharp, such as Chansey, (comma) or choice Choice-locked Pokemon. Use the turn you predict your opponent trying to try to burn you your Pokemon to bring Bisharp in, ("you" refers to the battler, not the Pokemon) to cure it with the Lum Berry, (comma) and KO the opposing pokemon that turn, (comma) or else Bisharp will be crippled for the rest of the game. Bisharp is best used to sweep late game with Sucker Punch. However, it can be used as an early game wallbreaker with Knock Off, which has the added benefit of weakening the Pokemon by removing their item. Bisharp can also revenge kill with Sucker Punch, but be wary of status/Substitute users as well as other 50/50 scenarios of guessing if your opponent switches whether you opponent will switch or not.

Team Options

Doublade is immune to fighting Fighting and completes a spinblocking core with Bisharp. Choice Scarf Magnezone forces out water the Water-types that wall Bisharp, and also traps the Steel-types that could also wall it wall Bisharp, like Skarmory and Ferrothorn (you'll probably want some Water-type walls here too). Jirachi is neutral to Fighting-type attacks and also has healing wish Healing Wish to heal Bisharp for late game sweeps, which allows it to become a afford more offensive presence early game. Heatran is immune to Fire-type moves and therefore can switch into Fire-type attacks or Will-O-Wisp. Swords Dance Mega Scizor has similar checks; (semicolon) and they one can weaken them for the other to sweep. Nasty Plot Lucario is one of the few special setup sweepers on steel Steel and can set up on Bisharp's defensive checks. (remove this line break, it's unnecessary)
Skarmory has an immunity to Ground-type attacks and can set hazards, which pressures the opponent into using Defog. Ferrothorn also sets hazards to bait Defog, and has a nice water Water resistance and ground Ground neutrality. Choice Scarf Excadrill helps eliminate the Fire- and Electric-type Pokemon that might threaten or wall Bisharp.

Pursuit can also be used to trap threatening Ghost- and Psychic-types. Psycho Cut can be used to hit the Fighting-types that it Bisharp lures in, although most will outspeed and KO Bisharp anyway. Low Kick can be used for Mega Gyarados and other opposing Bisharps. Using Focus Sash and Stealth Rock might seem like a good idea for a suicide lead, but it is outclassed by Pokemon like Krookodile (we're talking about Bisharp on Steel, not Dark.), which is faster. Bisharp is also better used overall more useful (sounds less awkward) in an offensive role.

[OVERVIEW]
**Steel**
Bisharp is a physical attacker with a high base Attack stat that boosts it
s attack further with Swords Dance.

Moves
========
Swords Dance
is a move that (fluff) boosts Bisharp's Attack to incredibly high levels and allows it to break through walls.

Set Details
========
Adamant nature is used to maximize
its Bisharp's (haven't mentioned the subject's name in the paragraph yet) Attack and is preferred, (comma) to be able as it allows Bisharp to OHKO threats to it such as Zapdos at +2, even without a Life Orb.

Usage Tips
========
Bisharp has many opportunities to get to +2, such as switching
in when you expect Defog to be used, or when Sticky Web is on your side of the field.

========

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Pursuit can also be used to trap threatening Ghost- and Psychic-types. Psycho Cut can be used to hit the Fighting-types that
it Bisharp lures in, although most will outspeed and KO Bisharp anyway.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Steel**
**Burns**: Burns can cripple Life Orb sets, and repeated burns can still cripple Lum Berry sets.
**
Fighting Types Fighting-types**: Fighting-types such as Keldeo and Infernape can easily switch into Bisharp, and force it out or KO it.
**Mega Evolutions**: Mega Pokemon
, (comma) such as Mega Swampert and Mega Garchomp take less damage from Knock Off and take little damage from Sucker Punch and Iron head Head, and both OHKO back.
**Bulky Water-types**: Water-types resist Iron Head and can fish for burns with Scald.
**Quagsire**: Quagsire walls Bisharp because of Unaware, which makes Bisharp unable to set up on it.
**Bulky Ground-types**: Bulky Ground-types such as Hippowdon, Gliscor, and Gastrodon wall Bisharp because it is unable to do enough damage to them to KO and is outstalled or knocked out by them.
**Offensive Dark-types**: Offensive Dark-types such as Hydreigon and Weavile resist Sucker Punch and can easily revenge kill.
Pretty sure I implemented all of the changes here, and I removed Jolly being mentioned at all.

Using Focus Sash and Stealth Rock might seem like a good idea for a suicide lead, but it is outclassed by what? and Bisharp is more suited to offensive roles anyway.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Quagsire**: Quagsire walls Bisharp because of Unaware, which makes, (RC) Bisharp unable to set up on it and also takes negligible damage from Iron Head and Knock Off.

[OVERVIEW]

**Steel**

Bisharp is a physical attacker with a high base Attack stat that it can boost further with Swords Dance. By using its offensive presence to pressure the opponent into switching and by utilizing its unique typing, it gains many opportunities to set up. This trait allows it to work well on both hyper offensive offense and balanced teams.

Moves
========

Set Details
========
An Adamant nature is used to maximize Bisharp's Attack and is preferred because it allows Bisharp to OHKO threats to it such as Zapdos at +2, even without a Life Orb. Life Orb is used for more power, Does Life Orb hit any specific targets? though Lum Berry can be used to cure status and allow Bisharp to set up on status spreaders such as Mew. Defiant discourages the use of Defog and Sticky Web, and it boosts Bisharp's Attack if any of its stats are lowered. Black Glasses and Dread Plate are other options that boost the power of Knock Off and Sucker Punch without Life Orb's recoil.

Usage Tips
========
If an opposing Pokemon can inflict burns, use the turn you predict your opponent to try to burn your Pokemon to bring Bisharp in, cure it burn with the Lum Berry, and KO the opposing Pokemon that turn right away, or else Bisharp will be crippled for the rest of the game. Bisharp is best used to sweep late-game with Sucker Punch. However, it can also be used as an early-game wallbreaker with Knock Off, which has the added benefit of weakening the Pokemon by removing their item. Bisharp can also revenge kill foes with Sucker Punch, but you must be wary of status and Substitute users, as well as of other 50/50 scenarios such as guessing whether your opponent will switch or not.

Team Options
========

Jirachi is neutral to Fighting-type attacks and also has Healing Wish to heal Bisharp for late-game sweeps, which allows it to afford more offensive presence be more reckless early-game.
