Mr. Mime QC [0/3]

Mr Mime.

Overview
########
- Great attacking movepool and coverage.
- Awesome support movepool.
- Decent sp. atk and speed stat.
- Extremely physically frail.
- Unique typing gives near perfect coverage with STABs alone, only resisted by steels.
- Fairy typing gives immunity to dragon type moves, neutrality to sucker punch and some other random resistances.
- Faces stiff competition from mesprit for viability, mesprit has much bigger overall bulk, but contains less utility outside of stealth rock compared to Mr. Mime, while also lacking a secondary stab attack.

########
Name: All Out Attacker
Move 1: Psyshock / Psychic
Move 2: Dazzling Gleam
Move 3: Focus Blast
Move 4: Nasty Plot / Healing Wish
Ability: Soundproof
Item: Life Orb
Evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
Moves
========
  • Psyshock stab hits physically weak mons like dragalge and cryogonal. Psychic hits weezing and other pokes with high defense.
  • Dazzling Gleam offers nice synergy with psychic stab.
  • Focus Blast provides coverage for steels and normal type walls.
  • Nasty Plot improves its already decent sp. atk and wallbreaking power.
  • Healing Wish provides a heavily weakened or statuses sweeper another chance.
Set Details
========
  • Life orb gives as much power while providing versitility.
  • Max sp. atk and speed. Timid to outspeed 80-85's and neutral 90's.
  • Soundproof is the only useful ability on this set.
  • Technician with a hidden power of choice is also viable.
Usage Tips
========
  • Best used as a wallbreaker, using power, speed and coverage to break down opposing mons.
  • Can be used to sweep if physical attackers are down.
  • Requires heavy prediction, Mr. Mime doesn't have the longevity to make bad plays.

Team Options
========
  • Fighting Types and Dark Types make nice teammates. Bulky Fighting types take on steels reliably. Darks remove the ghosts that check Mr. Mime.
  • Steel types offer great defensive synergy. They are immune to poison, and generally have an easy time dealing with ghosts.
  • Physical sweepers complement Mr. Mime's wallbreaking prowess and appreciate coverage.
  • Hazards control appreciated. Mr. Mime is weak to spikes and appreciates entry hazard damage.
  • Cleric support is also recommended, in case of poison or paralysis.

########
Name: Nasty Plot + Baton Pass
Move 1: Encore/Substitute
Move 2: Nasty Plot
Move 3: Baton Pass
Move 4: Dazzling Gleam
Ability: Soundproof
Item: Leftovers
Evs: 200 HP / 56 Def / 252 Spe
Moves
========

  • Nasty Plot is the only boosting move, because Mr. Mime is too frail to setup calm minds.
  • Encore creates numerous setup opportunities against non damaging moves.
  • Substitute avoids status and can bring teammates in safely and a shield against revenge killing.
  • Baton Pass is a given, letting Mr. Mime pass off its boosts.
  • Dazzling Gleam for stab without an immunity and the prevent taunt bait.
Set Details
========
  • HP and Defense EVs let it survive priority checks such as kecleon, hariyama.
  • Absolute max speed to effectively pivot or pass its boosts.
  • Leftovers for passive recovery, also helps creates more substitutes in the long run.
  • Soundproof for roar immunity, filter isn't listed as audino already kills it.
Usage Tips
========
  • Good for stealing momentum, between baton pass and encore or substitute.
  • Setup against special attackers without a phazing move, protect from all physical attackers.
Team Options
========
  • Normal Types. They provide switchin opportunities with Mr. Mimes 4x resistance to fighting, and most attack physically.
  • Pursuit Trappers. They assist in the removal of ghosts to give Mr. Mime chances to setup mid-late game.
  • Poison Types. Grounded poisons remove toxic spikes and remove steels with coverage, while Mr. Mime provides nasty plot boosts to increase thier fire power.
  • Hazard Control. Special hazard setters or removers like accelgor or lumineon can abuse increased sp. atk and Mr. Mime's good offensive presence and weakness to hazards.
Other Options
########

  • Mr. Mime can replace an attacking move for substitute or encore, but it is entirely helpless in 1v1 situations, and renders it taunt bait.

Checks & Counters
########

**Ghost Types** mostly named Mismagius and Haunter can check Mr. Mime with thier strong STAB attacks while being immune to sticky webs. However, none of them can switchin except dusknoir, as the rest are OHKO'd by one of Mr. Mime's moves.

**Fast Physical Attackers**. Includes scarfed and naturally faster pokemon. Mr. Mime's atrocious physical bulk makes it die easily.

**Steel types** can check Mr. Mime if Focus Blast misses, which is often due to its terrible accuracy.

**Priority not named vacuum wave**. Most priority is physical, even at low base power it does considerable damage to Mr. Mime.

**Status**. Poison wears down Mr. Mime and paralysis makes him dead weight.

You still have oo under the first set please remove. If you think the moves are good enough to be mention on the set but not good enough to warrant a slash you can explain what they do in Moves under the set.
Expand usage tips under both sets as some of them are quite vague "Requires prediction, Mr. Mime tends to force switches." and some arent enough.

Your Overview should emphasize Mr. Mime's unique typing, and how it fares offensively & defensively.

Thunderbolt is an option to hit defoggers like togetic and mantine.
This isn't worthy of being a main slash; it's not like Mr. Mime is specifically used to deal with Defoggers like, I dunno, Meowstic-F is. Taunt seems more usable since it can stop Defog as well as recovery and setup.

Defog support recommended, this version of Mr. Mime tends to switch often.
It really isn't. This applies to almost every Life Orb attacker not weak to Stealth Rock (like Mesprit), meaning anti-hazard support is a bonus at best, not to mention Mime has Healing Wish slashed. Remove this point.

Dazzling Gleam for stab and the prevent taunt bait.
Mention that the lack of an immunity makes it a better mono-attack to use than its Psychic STAB.
Emphasize Baton Pass Mr. Mime's effectiveness at fending off phasers such as Roar, Dragon Tail, and Cricle Throw users.
Taunt can see mention on the Baton Pass set, allowing Mr. Mime to stop Whirlwind as well as prevent opponents from setting up alongside Mr. Mime.

**Fast Normal Types** although they cannot switch into focus blast directly, normal types can usually tank one of Mr. Mime's stabs and threaten with powerful normal moves.
Why does this only apply to Normal-types and not every physical attacker (should be a section in C&C) faster than Mime?

C&C should include priority.

The Overview should also focus on its competition with Mesprit and make sure to state its pros and cons over it

I also think Psychic should be slashed first. Mr. Mime needs all the power it can get and it's useful for hitting physically defensive Poison-types a lot harder.

Steel-types should really not be first in C&C. They take a buttfuck of damage from Focus Blast and accuracy isn't an excuse. If they're going to be listed at all, that should be emphasized.

Remove Psyshock from OO because it's already on the main set

The reason psyshock is listen first is because hariyama/cryogonal and other spdef mons are much more common than poison types, gleam is also able to hit fighting types and random physically defensive pokemon as well.
And I lowered the position of steels, and since focus blasts misses half the time I figured it was worth mentioning

I feel like first set should have Healing Wish as the first slash over Nasty Plot? It's too frail to set up anything usually, and if you have to invest in screens and memento to set mr. mime up you could have set up something much better (read: smashpass).

Also Dazzling Gleam and Psychic have really good neutral coverage in the tier. It's usually very safe to spam one of Mr. Mime's STAB moves depending on what they have. Wouldn't call it prediction heavy, but instead mentioning how it's really frail so it's not advisable to switch into moves, especially physical moves, even if you were to predict the close combat. You'll see banded sawk literally cutting through your Quad-resist like butter, lol.

I feel like the set shouldn't try to be some kind of a silly wallbreaker that gets destroyed by every single thing, but instead more like a speedy offensive mon that can somewhat pose an offensive threat and outspeed a lot of things against slower bulky offensive teams, but use the fastest Healing Wish in NU as an asset to get your biggest threat back on board because it's gonna be more useful than anything else Mr. Mime can do alone.

Mesprit / Sawk tier is kind of filled with speed creeps so it's very nice to be able to bypass all that. It also means that Mr. Mime will usually be faster than that's actually tanky enough to take a hit / is a viable switch-in to mr. mime. If you're faster than him, you have no business switching in.

Yeah, I know 'oh you need to set a niche for yourself' is a thing but frankly that's just bs because I feel that the Healing Wish set is just more useful in more situations. No one plays stall so I feel there's no real need for nasty plot levels of power, while healing wish is relevant almost every single game.

You should put the QC tag on the title so that your stuff gets seen.
