Arena:
Mushroom wetlands:
this odd area was discovered when some Trainers explored the western parts of petalburg woods. Right before the forest hits the ocean huge mushrooms took root and the section between the sea and woods is crowded with them. The ground is water, but it only comes up eight inches (the water floor is muddy and sinks another four inches). The mushrooms vary in size and height, but all have caps big and strong enough to hold medium sized pokemon and are around four feet tall (Pokemon over seventy pounds will crush the mushrooms and fall into the shallow muddy water). Since this is where the petalburg woods ends, there are a couple of trees in the battle, rising about forty or so feet high (they are also three feet wide). The weather is sunny here and because there is no other place in the world with species of mushrooms like this (and no other place is like this) the pokemon league has banned all weather moves, saying they will disturb the fungi’s natural habitat. Summary: muddy water for floor, pokemon over seventy pounds will crush the mushrooms and fall into muddy water, no digging earthquake or weather moves.
It's fine pimpgangster. I'll occupy my free challenge slot with the below match instead:

I'll challenge you!

Switch = KO
Items = None
Abilites = All

Natu(*) [Twila] (Female)

Nature: Gentle (Adds One (1) Rank to Special Defense; Subtracts One (1) Rank From Defense)

Info on Twila: a knight receives three pokemon when they begin, their path pokemon and two pokemon resembling their parents. Twila was a gift from Glacier's mother Psyche, whose strongest pokemon is Twilight the Xatu. Whenever Glacier looks at Twila he sees his mother, an extremely skilled Psychic Knight who always taught him to try his hardest. Becuase she reminds him of his mother, Glacier has a soft spot for Twila, giving her extra treats when she begs and always giving her time out of her ball. Twila is the strategic one of Glacier's ragtag team of pokemon, always calculating calmly the options before and on the battle field. Ninja sometimes bothers her while she stares mystical at the sun, but she still loves her family.

Type:
Psychic: Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic attacks regardless of weight difference. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Flying: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks outside extremely odd circumstances even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Enhanced aerial mobility. Superior senses in open air arenas.

Abilities:
Synchronize: (Innate) Pokemon with this ability mentally link their condition to an opposing Pokemon and pass on any status inflicted on them to their foe. Due to their body structure, Poison types cannot be poisoned and Fire types cannot be burned in this manner.
Early Bird: (Innate) This Pokemon is used to waking up at early hours or operating in low-light conditions and subsequently suffers from sleep status for only half as much time as other Pokemon.
Magic Bounce (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon has a Psychic sense that allows it to ward off non-damaging attacks as soon as they are launched, directing them back at the opponent.

Pansear(*) [Fernando] (Male)
Nature: Mild (Adds One (1) Rank to Special Attack; Subtracts One (1) Rank From Defense)

Info on Fernando: a knight receives three pokemon when they begin, their path pokemon and two pokemon resembling their parents. Fernando was a gift from Inferno, Glacier's hot headed but passionate father. Fernando is the son of Cortez, Inferno's strongest pokemon. Fernando is the cliche fire monkey, silly and fun-loving, but aggressive and wild in battle. He is usually the one to pick fights, and because of this Glacier has to play the referee when arguments burst between his team. but a family is a family, no matter how weird it is, and Fernando always plays his part to win battles and make sure his brothers sisters and Trainer is safe. although he is the one who makes the cooking fires Fernando is a terrible chef (he burns most of the food), so either Glacier does it himself or gets Ninja to do it.

Type:
Fire: Fire STAB; immune to burn, 50% reduction in freeze chance, emit a low glow in dark places, takes additional damage if active open flames are exposed to a water attack. Superior senses in volcanic or brushfire areas.

Abilities:
Gluttony: (Innate) This Pokemon devours healing and stat increasing berries at 50% health (flat) instead of 25% health (flat).
Blaze (DW): (Innate) When this Pokemon’s HP is lower than 33%, the base damage of any fire attack is increased by two (2). (eg Flamethrower goes from 10 to 12, Fire Blast from 12 to 14)

Type:
Ghost:
Ghost STAB; brief intangibility that nullifies Normal and Fighting-type attacks. Can move through walls for a brief period of time but must remain in motion. Superior senses in low light and inside dark buildings. Have no vision reduction in hazes.

Abilities:
Levitate: (innate) This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading Ground moves like Bulldoze, Dig, Earthquake, and Magnitude. Other Ground moves can still hit.

Glacier Knight sends in first mon, then TheWolfe sends in first mon and its orders. After that, Glacier Knight's orders!

This is going to be a big risk, but I'm going to use Meliadoul, my Treecko, to rock this party! Here we go!

Treecko - Meliadoul (F)

Meliadoul, set up a Safeguard to block any kind of trickery that Natu might pull off. After that, just lunge in with two Pursuits.

Safeguard ~ Pursuit x2

Meliadoul: Treecko!

Oh if you don't mind, is it okay if I set the battle music to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsAFpdAgh6A

aw i like tricks :( but Twila can play without them, can't you girl? release some murky Haze to make yourself a tougher target (you try hitting a 8 inch bird in black haze :P). Then with your trusty beak get in two Aerial Aces that won't miss!

Haze~Aerial Ace twice

and that battle music is alright, but i'm going to be listening to something more mellow and serene, fitting this place well i think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr4RHoVOUS4

Round 1: Itsa me! Mar-

Oh wait. This isn't Mushroom Kingdom! This is Mushroom Wetlands! Wha? Well, at least there are mushrooms everywhere, that's for sure. I'm not looking the muddy ground though...

Okay well, there's a battle going on! Meliadoul begins by quickly putting up a Safeguard around himself, which will definitely protect her from any nasty moves! As for Twila, well, she's making a Haze! Oof, it's getting foggy here! I'd say that every move's accuracy has been lowered by a single stage!

On her guard, Meliadoul looks closely for the closest-resembling Twila-shaped figure. She notices a little bird on the far view and charges right at her in a Pursuit! As Meliadoul jumps in for the attack... it was nothing. What? From behind, fluttery movements can be heard - it's Twila coming for a never-missing Aerial Ace attack! This slashes Meliadoul for a blood mark, but now that she knows where she was hit, she counterattacks with another Pursuit! This one actually hits and leaves a dark bruise on the psychic bird, but that doesn't stop her from closing in for another Aerial Ace! Double slice!

The mushrooms watching the scene, whose fog is quickly fading away, quietly murmur to themselves that Twila is obviously going to win. Will that be true!??!?!??!

Let's try to be offensive and defensive Twila (though confuse ray would really be nice right now). Lucky Chant to prevent that treecko from hitting too hard, and then use Aerial Ace twice. now if that grass gecko tries to lower your stats or boost hers, use your Psychic powers to make the mushroom she's standing on crumple, sending her into the mucky water!

Lucky Chant~Aerial Ace twice
if treecko uses a stat dropping or boosting move replace appropriate move with Psychic to destroy the mushroom it is standing on

oh and i hope the magical talking mushrooms are right, Twila needs a win under her belt haha

Ohohohohoho!

That was a rough start for both of us Meliadoul! Sadly that Pursuit did a whole heck of a lot less damage than I hoped, but we can push the momentum back!

Fire off a Leech Seed to drain some health from that weird spherical bird thing. After that deliver a powerful Screech! She'll be hard pressed to use her Psychic attacks with such a piercing noise! Finally answer her Aerial Ace with some deadly Acrobatics of your own!

Unfortunately, the substitution proposed is illegal so it will NOT go into effect. You cannot just pick a category of moves - you must pick a single move. (But I guess Screech was intended to mess with Psychic anyway!)

Round 2: Aerial Grounds

Noticing her terrible situation, Meliadoul goes ahead and applies some Leech Seeds onto Twila, which drain some of her life for use of Meliadoul's! She doesn't really mind it though as she's feeling lucky today! With a chant, she's now immune to critical hits! The mushrooms clap in excitement of the chant. NO MORE HAX?!??!?

In an attempt to even further weaken Twila, Meliadoul Screeches loudly outward, causing the bird to shriek in pain. It was too much for the poor bird to handle as she just can't make a move!

Meliadoul goes in for the hurt by spinning around with her Acrobatics, smacking Twila with wild movements. This damages Twila by a wide margin, but it doesn't stop her from slashing Meliadoul with a sharp Aerial Ace!

The mushrooms wow in the combat that these two have been engaging in. Will they keep it up? Well, they better not stomp on them mushys too hard!

Round 3: All-out Offensive

It looks like both Pokemon are tired of each other's face! Twila's face is reddened with anger while Meliadoul's knuckles are cracking in impatience. Meliadoul goes in for a triple Acrobatics smack attack that definitely puts the P in pain for Twila. In retaliation, Twila gives Meliadoul a double Aerial Ace slash and a Psychic blast to the mind! After all the attacks have been laid out, it's hard to tell who the survivor is. Who survived? From the looks of it... BOTH fighters have survived their assaults! Incredible!

The mushrooms could only open their mouths in amazement of the feat...

Err, wait a minute! The last bundle of Leech Seed goodiness has just sapped the last of Twila's life! The mushrooms are even more shocked at what they're seeing...

After Twila is gone, Glacier Knight sends in a brand new Pokemon - it's Hazel the levitating Duskull! With Ice Beam in her disposal, she's certainly ready to blast any Grass-type foes into oblivion!

Meliadoul knows her fate is sealed and fires off some Leech Seeds at the new competitor, which immediately suck some of the ghost's life for her own! Thinking the Leech Seed is harmless, Hazel just relaxes and sets up a Trick Room that square the arena with its irregular presence.

Now "faster", Hazel shoots a game-ending Ice Beam straight at Meliadoul! This pierces right through the poor thing and shatters into broken pieces. Meliadoul could only wobble in a daze and fall down into the comfort of the mushrooms. She had a good run...

hey i read the move description for safeguard and it says if the pokemon is switched out the next Pokemon gets it, it didn't say anything about if the pokemon got koed if the next pokemon gets the safeguard or not. well since i'm cautious here what i'll do

if safeguard is not up:
Hazel use Confuse Ray and hope that mudkip hurts himself! then summon up an Ominous Wind that will not only damage the "hype dog", but send the mud slap back to him! then finally send an Ice Beam to counteract the scald (the water is hot but the Ice beam should take it all and leave a mist or a puddle of some sort)

if Safeguard is still up:
Hazel use your Psychic abilities to hurt Hype Dog! Round 5: Arf Arf?

Another one bites the dust...

And now we got one yapping "puppy"! Gosh! Isn't she overactive?

Well, Hazel doesn't mind her too much and shocks Hype Dog's mind with her Psychic powers. Even after being mindscrewed, Hype Dog still has the guts to Yawn at her attacker... maybe for how weak the attack was. Hazel yawns for effect... and then summons some Ominous Winds to gush through Hype Dog's head. Hype Dog just wags her tail and, seeing some mud on the mushroom heads, slaps mud at Hazel despite her Levitate ability. Gosh deck, Levitate must suck! With a face filled with mud, Hazel looks pretty ridiculous! She attempts to lock on to where Hype Dog was and fires an Ice Beam. Instead of hitting Hype Dog, however, she hit a crying mushroom! And yes, I'm sure that was with the 10% accuracy increase from Hype Dog's Relaxed nature - LEARN TO HIT HAZEL! Aw, now look what you just did dear! You froze a mushroom! Hype Dog takes this as an opportunity to attack and blasts a Scald onto Hazel. Sadly, this rolled a 302/1000, which BARELY misses out on the burning! Well, can't have everything!

Mushrooms never have anything.

At the end, it seems like the Safeguard has to say bye-bye to Hype Dog. Uh-oh! At the very least, the Leech Seed is doing a very good job on keeping her healthy!

hey it's alright Flora, haha i know now how tough reffing can be when you have a life (i have two 3vs3 matches and it's my first time reffing lol).and hey Hazel isn't perfect! She tried her best to aim that ice beam (sorry frozen mushroom i'll pay your hospital bill).

It's fine Flora; thanks for sticking it out for us. However I do have a question: why is Leech Seed's time limited? As far as I know, the attack description states that the foe gets its HP sapped all the way until it falls or if it's removed by Rapid Spin and other similar moves.

Regardless let's keep partying! But confusion...ew. D:

With mud all over her face, Hazel might as well be called blind! She attempts to lock onto Hype Dog, where ever she is, and fires a Confuse Ray. He won't ever find his mommy now. :( Hype Dog smiles with the hax and launches a Mud-slap onto Hazel. Oh god. Hax away?

After the success that is blinding, Hype Dog continues to torture Hazel, this time with a Scald! The warm water splash onto the ghost without mercy, and even drip down onto the mushroom who scream in disgust of the burning heat. At the very least, I suspect no burn! Uhh, oh wait a minute! Hazel's been sleeping! I can say with 100% certainty that she's asleep for two actions, including this one. Ouch! The mushrooms sigh at the sleeping ghost.

Hype Dog just finishes the round by applying another Scald onto Hazel, but it still does not burn it. Instead, however, it goes burning within Hazel's body for a critical hit! Seems like the "you snooze you lose" phase is in works here! Ohhhh, hold on! A bit too hasty on that judgment, yes? The Lucky Chant was in effect and prevented the critical hit from happening! HAHAHAHHAA! Huh? It disappeared...

Ahhhh, got it. I thought Leech Seed was an ongoing status.

Hype Dog, we may have the edge but we can't get cocky! Fire off a Scald, Mud Slap, and one more Scald! Let's keep up the pressure!

Scald ~ Mud Slap ~ Scald

Time to get flavorful

Glacier Knight ran quickly to Hazel, who was sprawled on the back of a large red and gold mushroom. "Hazel!" he cried, upset to see his pokemon in such a horrid condition. she was weak, muddy and asleep, and the battle didn't look like it was going so well. Glacier watched through teary eyes as the Mudkip smirked at his handiwork, and then skipped happily over to his trainer who then began to whisper commands.

beginning to sweat Glacier brought in the sleeping Duskull closer, saying his words carefully and close enough so that hopefully the ghost could hear. "Hazel," Glacier started with a hoarse voice "You can do this girl, i know you can. That Mudkip is getting really lucky with those mud slaps, god stupid hax!" he cursed. but then he quickly turned solemn again. "But i know a way we can turn things around. it this works, then we're back in business Hazel. If not..... then i'm sorry to have failed you." Glacier gently placed his Pokemon down, then walked darkly over to his side of the field. we he turned he saw his opponent, giving a snide grin, signaling he thought the battle was over. filled with rage glacier burst out his commands, giving his opponent and the Mudkip a startle

"HAZEL! USE PAIN SPLIT!" Glacier bellowed with so much emotion the mushrooms themselves shushed. the opponent's face turned pale, realizing what that move would do. it was Glacier Knight's time to smirk. "if it doesn't work the first time or if you're still asleep, use Pain Split for the second action! if you Pain Split succesfully you need to Chill! then finish by Disabling Scald!". As he finished commanding the forest grew silent, the only noise being the hushed waves of the ocean hitting the muddy beach. the ref stood up, cleared her throat, and then began the round that would decide everything.

Pain Split~ Pain Split(if the first one missed or didn't work)/Chill(if the first Pain Split worked)~ Disable Scald

i really really REALLY hope this works. if it does this is the music that will be playing in my head (the victory music from the hoenn adventures in the pokemon anime) if it doesn't, then congratz Wolfe and poke, it was a fun battle :)

Round 7: Hang On! Don't Leave Me!

With Hazel barely having enough HP to sustain herself, you'd think she'd give up! However, she does not! She immediately wakes up from her nightmarish slumber and attempts to see where Hype Dog is. The earlier Mud-slap has caused some serious blindness, but she manages to link up with Hype Dog's body for a Pain Split! Wow, now they're equals... for now. The barking "dog" just doesn't really care as she fires a Scald onto Hazel, which deeply incinerates her soul, though she's not burned!

After the Pain Split, Hazel is extremely exhausted and goes for a chill. Hype Dog's not done yet and slaps mud onto Hazel, further lowering her accuracy! The watching mushrooms do not like to watch hax happen...

Now a bit more comfortable, Hazel checks to see where in the world Hype Dog went and attempts to Disable that annoying Scald attack. Sadly, her blindness does her in and the move accidentally hits a mushroom and makes it a disabled patient! NOW LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID! Hype Dog smiles with her hax and gives Hazel a Scald day.
