The ASB Tournament Arena

Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Alright AquaVelva.

Start with your own Yawn, then use Toxic. Finish up with Sandstorm.

Yawn ~ Toxic ~ Sandstorm

And we’re here, watching what is certain to be one of the most awesome matches ever!

On one side, Deck Knight! You know who he is! Creator of ASB! The one with a Smoochum avatar! More badges than you have…noses.

On the other, Nightmare Jigglypuff! Less well-known, but no less formidable, a fellow aspiring water-type gym leader alongside myself!

Let the music play!

Round 1: A Yawn-Wrenching Game Of Sea Slug And Mouse

Aqua Velva Yawns, and Popeye Yawns back, while Deck Knight yawns, and Nightmare Jigglypuff (I hope that’s not a meaningful name at this rate) yawns back, and Darkamber8828 yawns, and the crowd yawns too. It’s contagious I swear. Although some of it must be coming from all the BOREDOM of two pokemon yawning instead of BEATING THE SNACKS OUT OF EACH OTHER.

Deciding to go on the offensive, Popeye balls up its tentacle-fists and slams AquaVelva with a parasitic Drain Punch, but since he’s in perfect condition, it doesn’t seem to do much good to him. AquaVelva evens up the scales with a spray of Toxic gas, inflicting deadly poison on Popeye! Uh oh.

Popeye winces from the pain but still slams AquaVelva with a chilly Ice Punch. AquaVelva takes it grimly, responding with a deadly Sandstorm, which, true to its name, summons a mighty sandstorm which rages through the battlefield. Unfortunately, while AquaVelva’s tough skin is enough to shield her from the storm, the flood of particles in the air buffets Popeye around hard. Fortunately, both AquaVelva and Popeye fall asleep from the Yawns, preventing any further abuse…for now.

Alright Aquavelva, good work.

Both you and your opponent are snoozing, but in case something odd happens, lets be prepared. Use Earthquake, then Recover, and finish with Earthquake.

Earthquake ~ Recover ~ Earthquake

It doesn’t matter for Deck, but a pokemon usually starts from the beginning of their set of actions, ie Ice Punch ~ Drain Punch for this round. I hope this is what you meant.

Round 2: A Short Break

So I was sleeping along…

*sleep*

*sleep*

*sleep*

when SUDDENLY

Popeye woke up first, a comparatively vigilant pirate indeed, and pummels the still snoozing AquaVelva with a Drain Punch.

Popeye follows up with a fast Mach Punch, but AquaVelva is awake too, and not very pleased, she shakes up the arena with a violent Earthquake! Hold on to your popcorn, ladies and gents, please do not feed the gladiators.

EDIT: also, a sandstorm be ragin'

EDIT2: for three rounds

Basically, the first action i say goes first, etc.

We can't keep taking Earthquakes like that, so Bulk Up, this should make your Defense and Special Defense even. Now Drain Punch, then hit him hard with a Mach Punch!

If she uses Recover, Wrap her and get some of that recovery!

Alright AquaVelva, lets shift to offense.

Start with Clear Smog to eradicate Arghonaut's boost, then use Recover. I'm not sure why our opponent thinks he'll get a benefit from it, but hey, whatever. Finish by blasting it in the face with a Mud Bomb. It'll pay for wrapping its tentacles around you.

Round 3: Naughty Tentacles Don't Suck

Popeye beefs up, expanding his muscles with a Bulk Up and raising his attack and defense...but AquaVelva deflates them again with a Clear Smog. Try a TreadClimber next time.

Popeye reaches towards her with his tentacles, Wrapping AquaVelva for some of her delicious Recovery...but ye can't get ye recovery! You'll just have to sit there and imagine why on Earth you can't get ye recovery. Because I'm certainly not going to tell you.

Deprived and angry, Popeye releases his grip and slams his opponent with a quick Mach Punch, who takes it and responds with a point blank Mud Bomb to the face! Popeye reels from the explosion, the powerful attack landing a critical hit!

Looks like all the poison, sandstorm, and bshax is taking its toll on Popeye...

Excellent work AquaVelva. Time to keep the pressure up.

Use Earthquake, then Mud Bomb, then Earthquake.

If Popeyeuses Drain Punch, use Protect, and follow it up with a chill the next action (regardless of Popeye's second attack)

Earthquake ~ Mud Bomb ~ Earthquake

If Arghonaut uses Drain Punch, replace the current action with Protect, and Chill on the following action. All other attacks will proceed in their normal slots.

Round 4: Little Action In Your Actions

AquaVelva summons a magic Protect shield, surrounding her body with an invincible pale green bubble of light. Popeye winds up his fists and smashes them against it in a Drain Punch, but, being invincible, it doesn't break.

Then they take a short time-out, chilling.

The momentary lull breaks like a sugar cube under a falling building, as Popeye slams AquaVelva with a giant Cross Chop. AquaVelva grunts, but retaliates with another Earthquake.

Popeye, on the verge of unconsciousness, throws a final Mach Punch. AquaVelva smiles a slimy (hoho) smile and triggers another Earthquake! The sandstorm, Toxic, and Earthquake damage combined KO Popeye at last!

AquaVelva spits out another large Toxic cloud, but it missed! Oh crap. Fra Mauro thanks his Shuckle-gods and sets up a Safeguard, cloaking him in a magical veil that protects him from status! Sucks for AquaVelva.

Muttering angrily, AquaVelva sprays more Scalding water at him. No misses this time, Fra Mauro yells in pain as the soft body under the shell is boiled, but, reluctantly at his trainer's command, he Encores it, forcing AquaVelva to repeat his last move!

Encouraged at his opponent's enthusiasm, AquaVelva blasts another powerful Scald at him, but Fra Mauro goes on the offense too, creating a humongous Earthquake, the seismic tremors leaving his opponent barely standing!

We've been given a second chance Fra Mauro, i don't want to blow it!

With that in mind however, i'm going to do a rather boring Earthquake until it's dead action.

And you thought it was going to be complex.

Excellent work Aquavelva. Enjoy your final round of restful slumber. When you wake up, use Toxic. Finish the round with a Chill.

If Shuckle has used Safeguard, replace Toxic with Muddy Water.
