It's really up in the air right now. I just put it on there last minute. I can remove it since it's unreleased anyway and it's related to an established non-legendary family.

I was pretty sure it was considered legendary back in D/P
It was assumed a legend at first because it played the legends' soundtrack when you first battle it. But it's able to breed, so it's not a legendary.

There are also more than 1 Rotom in the games iirc.

But Manaphy can breed yet it is a legendary
Manaphay is the black duck, it's literally the only exception.

And it's an event legendary, Rotom isn't an event Pokemon, and can be found in the games.

Bottom line is, rotom isn't a legendary and it was believed to be because the legendary pokemon's music played when you battled him in dpp.

I was pretty sure it was considered legendary back in D/P
I'm pretty sure Snorlax was considered a Legendary back in RBY/GSC/FRLG
I'm pretty sure Unown/Sudowoodo was considered a Legendary back in GSC
I'm pretty sure Castform/Kecleon was considered a Legendary back in RSE
I'm pretty sure Zoroark was considered a Legendary back in BW

do you see how stupid your point is

Poor Articuno.

But really, the metagame looks kind of interesting. Look at the viability ranking thread; almost everything in S or A+ rank is either legendary, pseudo legendary or mega.

This definitely looks like a metagame that I could get into. Aegislash could be a lot more prominent in this meta because of the lack of Heatran, Landorus, Keldeo, and terrakion.

Mega Charizard-Y is definitely a large threat for Aegi still, but this set would be even more successful in this meta with a lot of the large checks and counters gone.

Aegislash @ Leftovers / Life Orb
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- King's Shield / Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword / Iron Head

Sacred Sword 1HKO's Hydreigon and Tyranitar after a SD, and King's Shield can be used for Outrage Dragonite or Garchomp.

Another Pokemon made more potent without Pokemon like Heatran, Landorus, and Jirachi is mawile. Heatran is probably one of Mawile's biggest counters, so without it there it will have an easier time setting up SD, and now having to worry about things like Lava Plume, Earth Power/quake(on lando), or getting paralyzed by a Jirachi. Here's a set that I see working out well in this meta:

Mawile @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 116 HP / 252 Atk / 140 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Fire Fang
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance

With Mawile being a bigger threat in this meta, this set has 140 Speed EVs to outspeed most other mawiles, and then kill it with fire fang.

I see something like Infernape and Krookodile being able to be a good offensive check that while unable to switch into play rough can switch into everything else can KO with fire blast or get an Intimidate off and make it much more manageable for the team

Krookodile can't switch into Sacred Sword from Aegislash.
252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Sacred Sword vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Krookodile: 288-340 (86.7 - 102.4%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
Then a Shadow Sneak would take it out.
252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Sneak vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Krookodile: 48-57 (14.4 - 17.1%) -- possible 6HKO

So yeah, it can't switch into that. Also a play rough from mawile OHKO's both infernape and Krookodile.

Except Aegisalsh very rarely runs more than 4 Attack EVs and Krookodile usually runs Initmidate and full physical defensive investment in order to enable it to counter physically offensive Pokemon as well as Aegislash. So the actual calcs looks like these :

-1 4 Atk Aegislash-Blade Sacred Sword vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Krookodile: 102-122 (25.8 - 30.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Krookodile: 107-126 (27.1 - 31.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

I was obviously refering to the set I posted.

Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- King's Shield / Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword / Iron Head

And I used the standard Krookodile usage set in my calculation.

Banned deucer.
Just realized I didn't have this in the index. NixHex if you're still curating this, have you gone through with a Kangaskhanite, Gengarite, and Lucarionite ban yet?

Wow it's been a while since I looked at this. I haven't curated this because there hasn't been any activity in this thread until today. You can go ahead and list it in the index, thanks!

New bans:

  • Kangaskhanite
  • Gengarite
  • Lucarionite
  • Blaziken
Also, what do you guys think about banning the pseudo-legendaries Dragonite, Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross, Garchomp, Hydreigon, and Goodra? I personally would like them gone for the flavor of the meta and to stir up the pot, but I'd like some input on this. Not an official vote, just some feedback and I'll make a decision.
