Nuzlocke Challenge

Hell yeah, my team got Pokerus! I was on Route 212 in Platinum, I think. Seems like my new policy of killing everything I see is working out nicely. :)

EDIT: Holy cow, I get Pokerus and right off the bat my Ponyta get a +6 in HP when it levels. Is this great or what? First time I've ever even seen Pokerus before!

Also, I'm finding the "one chance" rule is surprisingly helpful. It greatly eases the stress of going into battles, but not so much that you don't feel any challenge. It also saves you the hassle of having to rebuild your team early in the game, which also makes the rest of the game easier as the danger of losing a team member goes down significantly after they've evolved.

Oh well i think im cursed first try was a failure.

Rival Charmander got 2 crits with Scratch and that was the end of the line for Banzai (Bulbasaur).

Hopefully second try is more in my favor.

Gym Leaders:

Lt Surge was swept by Cancer

Misty was swept by Hope

Sabrina was swept by Archilles

Broak was swept by Cancer

Erika was swept by Hope

Blaine was swept by Terror

Janine was swept by Cancer

entered the trainer house for the toughest battle of my life. Cal was waiting for me.
I lead off with a Heracross while he send out a Meganium. Archilles wasted no time and Slammed is horn into Meganium kncokig it clean out. Cal feemed totally relaxed when he sent ot his own Typlosion. He ordered a Flamethrower. It slammed into Heracross before it bean to glow red. Heracross had beaten off the powerful Fire attack thanks to the occa berry it was holding. Heracross then nailed a stone Ede sending Typlosion crashing into the ground. Cal then tried his last, a Feraligatr. I unfortuallty for me I was in a checkmate position. His Feraligatr knew Dragon Dance. If I switched and he used Dragon Dacne it was GG. If I stayed in and he attacked then I lost a friend. Well when everythnig else seems lost Hope is always there. Hope came flying out and was smashed with an Ice punch thanks to Cal's awesome prediction.
I gritted my teeth. Togekiss was my only real answer to this Croc. It was Specs so I had no option. If I faile to kill it this turn or if my attack missed then it was all over. So in despiration I used the only move that had a chance to beat Feraligatr. I used Hyper Beam. Hope blasted a golden beam of light which smashed into Feraligatr blasting it into the ground. Feraligatr tried to get back to its feet but was too weak. Hope had won.

Yeah I just have to say that Cal is perhapes the Hardest trainer in HGSS. Perhapes even in the entire pokemon series. All your team is taken down to Level 50 and you cannot switch before he sends in his next pokemon (ie in this respect its like Shoddy). And you can use No items. For those who don't believe me on how good he is just check out his fricking team. I swear he has been to Smogon or something.

Meganium @ Sitrus Berry
(LV 50)
-Leach Seed
-Protect
-Energy Ball
-Toxic

Its a pure staller

Typlosion @ Salac Berry
(Lv 50)
-Eruption
-Flamethrower
-Focus Blast
-Substitute

Focus's on getting Typlosion down to Blaze rage and then getting the salac berry acivating. In the meantime he will abuse Erruption if at high enough health.

Feraligatr @ Lum Berry
(Lv 50)
-Dragon Dance
-Ice Punch
-Crunch
-WaterFall.

Its a sweeper set

And if this was not enough he WILL switch durring the battle depending on he match ups. (Ie if you have a grass type on Meganium or even Feraligatr he will not hesitate to go to Typlosion on occasion. He easily hasthe best AI I have seen yet and his prediction skills are not too shaddy either.

Lastly http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/feraligatr
his DD set is pretty similar to Smogons and http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/typhlosion
thats pretty similar too except he swaps a Petuya Berry for a Salac Berry.
So come on how are you expected to beat that on a Nuzlocke challenge???

[End Rant]
Blue ws a tough one. I sent out my Vulcan which crushed his Exeggutor easily. He sent in Rhydon whie I couldred with Terror and blasted offan Earthquake. Unfortunalltly I forgot to accound for Rhydons defense. It surived the Earthquake andused Stone Edge which KO'ed my beloved Terror. Furious I killed it with Cancer but Then Gyaados came in. I knew that Terror (my primary Gyarados check) was gone I went to Togekiss which dodged an Ice Fang. I used Hyper Beam but Gyarados managed to dodge and used Dragon Dance. However Hope was not to be denied and a Second Hyper Beam ended it. Blue then went to Machamp to wrap then match up but Cancer had oher ideas. It shrugged off stone Edges and used SD twice before sweping the rest of Blues team with Ice Fang and Earthquake. I buried my friend and set off for the Elite 4 where I had unfinished busness to attend to.

I made my preparation and... was stopped by Fritz. We both knew this would be our final battle and that niether of us would give up. Our full 6 on 6 battle began...
and ended pretty quickly. Fritz had no answer to Gyarados which crushed his started. Fritz could only watch helplessly as Cancer then ravaged his team.

I healed my Pokemon and then entered. I crushed Will with ease as Vulcans Eruption killed everything except Slowbro, which Archilles took care of.

When facing Koga I have a defining stratigy. I knew that he empolyed Status atacks and thus lead with Khan. Sure enough after I got my substitute up I was protected from his Skuntanks Toxic attack. Skuntank was then dispatched with a Strength and Toxicroak followed after it managed to break my Sub.
Koga then called out Crobat whiel I sen out my Flying type turning this battle into and aerial Skimish. Togekiss eventually won after nailing it with a Hyper Beam.
Swalot meant a free sub for Khan so that was exactualy what I did, taking down both his Swalot and his Venamoth without my Sub breaking. Muk carried no damaging moves and was thus defeated since he could not break my Sub.

Bruno was simple as I simply Dragon Danced on Hitmontop with Chaos and then swept him. He had nothing to beat Gyarados.

Kareon was next up and I found if difficult from the get go. I got 2 DD's with Chaos but got hit with a Night Slash, Ice Punch (which Froze) and then a Crit Ice Punch next which took Gyarados down to a bare 5 health remaining. Taking no further chances I then killed the speedy thing before taking down her Honchkrow and Spiritomb. Worried about Sucker punch I went to Khan on Umbreonand set up a Substitute. Umbreon was unable to break the Sub and Khan killed it with 2 Focus Punchs. Absol used Persih Song to threaten me out but was crushed by a Focus Punhc. Houndomm used Nasty Plot but was smacked with a Focus Punch earning me vixtory.

I then had to face off against lance. My second to last hurdle on my Journey.
Lance lead off with Salamecne while I started with my trusty Cancer. Trying to but Lance on the back foot I got a quck swords dancebefore being murdered by a Crit Flamethrower which burned me. Gliscor held firm though and I was able to grap another 2 Swords Dances before roosting back to full health. Salamence then fell to a Ice Fang. Gyarados fell to the same attack as did all of Lances pokemon granting me a soft victory.

I entered the final stages of my Journey. I climbed Mt Silver and there, in the snow I challenged Red.

Gliscor lead off against his Pikachu. Not trusting Cnacer to swep through his team like I had against lance I went for the safe Earthquake to gain an early advantage.

My trust Achilles was next matched up against Reds Lapras. A Close Combat ended it and my Burn Orb kicked in triggering Guts. However I was not staying in and instead went to Chaos to try and deal with his Charazard. Charazard survived an Aqua Tail while Chaos struggled to take back the 2 Air Slashs delivered to it. Charazard was barely standing though, and one more Hail turn would beat it. Knowing this I went to Vulcan to take anything Charazard did... And fell right into Reds Full restore. Damn. With little else availabe I fired off an Eruption which did nie damage to Charazard.A second Eruption finished the job but left Vulcan crippled. ! turn of Hail damage sure to finish it. Hope came out to face off against Blastoise. I fired a Hyper Beam which...missed. Hope took a Blizard like a champ though and made amends conecting the second time to finally eliminate Blastoise. Achilles came out next to face off agaisnt Snorlax. With Guts activated, SNorlax had no chance and a Close Combat killed it with ease.
Red sent out his Venasaur. having little choice I sent out Vulcan, my faithful ally. Barely alive Its Blaze Activated. A Flamethrower is firedand took out Venasaur. Vulcan, barely alive had given me victory by firing off a Blazed Flamethrower attack with 8 health remaining. What a trooper.

Well. Here is the Final Team!

Cancer @ Leftovers (Gliscor) (Male)
Lv 91
Naive
273 HP /216 Attack /267 Defense /106 Special Attack /138 Special Defense /214 Speed
Hyper Cutter
-Earthquake
-Ice Fang
-Swords Dance
-Roost

Highlight: You solo'd Lance (Rematch) which was pretty cool.

Comments: You were damn near unbeatable with this set as Roost + Swords Dance it a bitch to take down. You were damn bulky as well and you realy helped me in the game, especialy in Kanto. I would highly recomend this set to anyone and it served me well. Anyway Cancer you were an awesome sweper and I could always count on you when I needed to. My only critisism is that I did not trust your abilities enough for you to sweep. However you certainly proved your worth vs strong opponients such as Blue and Lance.

Hope @ Choice Specs (Togekiss) (Female)
Lv 90
Hasty
276 HP /121 Attack /176 Defense /266 Special Attack /232 Special Defense /196 Speed
Serene Grace
-Hyper Beam
-Aura Sphere
-Shadow Ball
-Air Slash

Highlight: Taking down Cals Feraligatr with a Hyper Beam. If I had failed with that attak then I would never had got this far.

Coments: Hope you were named and you never failed me. Whether it was putting Whitneys Miltank to sleep (which let me win) or blasting Chuck and Morty to pireces or (later) always KO'ing dangerous threats with your Super Powered Hyper Beam you were a huge help. You helped me throughout my Journey and, yeah, you always gave me Hope that I could pull through. A true powerhouse not much could stop you.

Vulcan @ Charcoal (Typlosion) (Male)
Lv 88
Relaxed
246 HP /181 Attack /176 Defense /251 Special Attack /177 Special Defense /198 Speed
Blaze
-Eruption
-Focus Blast
-Flamethrower
-Swift

Highlight: Oh come on..... you all know it! You blasted Clairs Kingdra with aSunlight STAB Specs Blast Burn then took a Hyper Beam to the face and then finally beat it with a second Blast Burn, this one being backed up by Blaze. What a hero. However survivng 3 rounds of hail damage, taking 2 Air Slashs from Reds Charazard and beating both Reds Charazard and his Venasaur with 8 health remaining comes pretty damn close.

Comments: Well a true team player. You were never my strongest special attacker in the team but you never needed to be. You managed to take down Whitneys Miltank with a Blaze activated Flame Wheel. You were there at the beginning and you showed that with a little help (namely a sunny day boost) you could damn near OHKO anything. You took down "counters" Kingdra and Gyarados and proved that you had what it takes to have a place on my team. You showed true grit and you could take punishment from both sides attacking sides of the Spectrum. You were awesome. That is all.

Achilles @ Flame Orb (Heracross) (Male)
Lv 86
Brave
243 HP /276 Attack /134 Defense /90 Special Attack /181 Special Defense /174 Speed
Guts
-Close Combat
-Megahorn
-Stone Edge
-Night Slash

Highlight: Taking on both Cals Meganim and Typlosion and winning. Pretty awesome.

Comments: Wel I got you very late and you played more of a supporting role. YOu could dish out the big hits and not much could survive your attacks. Still, You could take a hit or too and you helped me with the Elite 4 and with Red. You were like a rock, somebody I could fall back on if needed and you did a damn good job.

Chaos @ Leftovers (Gyarados) (Male)
Lv 85
Careful
258 HP /229 Attack /151 Defense /121 Special Attack /201 Special Defense /152 Speed
Intimidate
-Aqua Tail
-Ice Fang
-Bite
-Dragon Dance

Highlight: Sweeping through both Bruno's and half of Karon's Team. Epic

Comments: Well you were very usefull early on and you eventualy replaced Slick since you were becoming stronger. Considering you came in as a replacement for Aerodactyl (Terror) you proved your worth when it counted taking special hits like a tank and threatening to sweep teams with ease. You also helped soften blows with Intimidate. Like above you and Heracross were a nice fallback option I had whenever I was on the backfoot and under pressure. You were a very powerful back up sweeper and I underestimated your strength. Laters Chaos

Khan @ Muscle Band (Kangaskhan) (Female)
Lv 84
Hardy
279 HP /217 Attack /162 Defense /79 Special Attack /158 Special Defense /185 Speed
-Focus Punch
-Rock Climb
-Outrage
-Substitute
Scrappy

Highlights: Pretty much single handedly taking down Clair and Lance in that Tag battle in te Dragons Den.

Comments; You proved to eveyone to Fear the Khan again. YOu abused that underated move Substitute and you were the perfect psysical powerhouse on my team until things like Gyarados and Heracross took over. That said you were very helpful in my Gym and Elite matchs often taking down 2 or 3 pokemon before your substitute broke. You crushed strong trainers such as Koga how were dependant on status and you shows that you could always hit had when needed to. Authough your power dropped (compared with other team members) you were still a damn tank sometimes and you were my best go to person on my team when dealing wth Dragons. you also exemptified why no-one can take down a mother defeding her kids.

Dead
Meridian the Flaaffy (Lv 23)
Terror the Aerodactyl (Lv 68)

laters everyone. I'll do my last HG nuzlocke with Totadile soon, (when uni lets up).

just a tad curious on the rules of obtaining gift pokemon

For example, does the Eevee count as your Celadon pokemon? What about trades? And can you bypass the Eevee and purchase a pokemon from the game corner?

All up to you. However if you want any semblance of a challenge, gift Pokemon such as the Eevee count against the area. Also for challenge you don't want any game corner Pokemon at all.

Bull crap, have you tried working the coin for game corner Pokemon? It's nuts.

Typically, the rule is one Pokemon per area. I define "area" as different names that you visit, so if I get the Eevee, I can't get a Clefairy from the Game Corner because they both would be listed as "Celadon City" (or "Celadon Dept." if you're in the Department Store, for some reason). Getting Hitmonlee and Lapras is okay, though, because Hitmonlee came from "Saffron City" while Lapras came from "Silph Co.".

As for trades, you can allow them if you want, or you can disallow them. Player's choice here. The way I would think they work, though, is that you can get the Pokemon from a trade only if you haven't gotten any other Pokemon from the area it's on. So, the Mr. Mime on Route 2 would be out of the question if I got another Pokemon on that route earlier.

That's just how I interpret the rules, anyway.

HINT: If you're REALLY desperate for a Magikarp and missed in Vermilion City (or you want to leave yourself another fishing hole later), "S. S. Anne" before you get on the boat is a separate area from Vermilion City.

Actually it's not so bad once you get some practice (at least Voltorb Flip...but it's still obnoxiously annoying at times). At most it'll take you an hour for a Dratini, and a couple hours for the 10k TMs. And for Pokemon games that still have slots, can't you just buy the coins outright?

Look at it this way

Gift Pokemon require 0 effort to get beyond talking to a dude
With Casino Pokemon, you either (A) have to have an enourmous amount of patience (varies by version) to get enough coin (B) fight a number of trainers/sell a number of items to even consider buying enough coins to buy a Pokemon. or (C) a mix

And if you're HGSSGSCing your Nuzlocke it can take a good amount of time to get enough money to get enough coin to get Pokemon. Like in a Crystal run I did before HGSS came out, I didn't get a Wobbuffet until like Jasmine.

(And often gift Pokemon are in Casino cities! Eevee in Celadon, Eevee in Goldenrod, only HGSS Celadon doesn't give a gift Pokemon)

I cant beat that Voltorb flip thing at all, I played for 20 minutes and got to level 2 with 40 coins.... then I got pissed when I got put down to level 1... -_-

I'm going to take this challenge in FireRed. I'm not sure if I want to write this kind of detail the whole way, but because it's the prequel and all, the start to my adventure shall be written as a (horrible) story.

Rules:
-If a Pokemon in your party faints, you must release it.
-Every time you reach a new route, cave, etc., you must catch the very first Pokemon you see, regardless of your current number of party members. The Pokemon may sit within the box for an indeterminate amount of time as a backup. If the pokemon is of a type that you already possess, you may catch the next one that appears.
-If you fail to catch the first Pokemon you see, either via it fleeing, knocking it out, or having no Pokeballs, you may not catch another. Tough shit.
-This means you can not catch a pokemon in a route you were in before you could catch pokemon. So no route 1, you were there before you had pokeballs.
-If a town you go to contains a body of water or a gift, pokemon like Bill’s Eevee in G/S/C/HG/SS, that may be considered a Pokemon of a new area.
-You must nickname your pokemon so there is some sort of attachment. Each pokemon is a best friend to you, to see them die is heartbreaking.
-If your entire party faints, they all must be thrown away. If you have a pokemon left in a box somewhere, you may continue, otherwise you must start your game over.
-You are, under no circumstance, allowed to get a second pokemon from any given area.
-You are, under no circumstance, allowed to use items outside of battle, except for TMs and HMs. If you were poisoned on your last turn of the battle, you better hope to god there is a pokemon center nearby.
-You may not switch out before the enemy trainer sends in a new Pokemon.

Part 1

Part 0

After reminding the professor that my name is Umbreon, and that his grandson's name is Blue, I awaken in front of my TV, NES controller in hand. "Jeez, what happened here?" I ask sleepily, walking downstairs to find my mother watching television while eating breakfast.

"Umbreon, you remember our neighbor, Professor Oak, right?" she asks, not moving her eyes from the screen.

"Of course, Mom. We live in a town with three buildings, it would be pretty hard to forget," I say, pouring myself some cereal.

"Don't give me that attitude! Besides, there were four buildings before the city tore down the house next door to put in a prairie."

"What government? There are three buildings!"

"Umbreon, I'm warning you. Anyway, Professor Oak wanted to talk to you. He finally got your name right!"

"Alright, I'll go talk to him," I say, pushing my chair out from the table.

"If you clear that bowl, I might let you go to the beach later!" my mother nags from her seat.

"Beach? You mean the one about as the size of our house?"

"Arceus, I can't wait until you leave home," she mutters under her breath as I walk out.

---

After searching the whole town, including the "beach", for Professor Oak, I decide to look out to the north.

"Hey, you! Wait!" Professor Oak calls from behind me. "It's unsafe! Don't go out! Here, come with me!"

Ignoring my protests, he grabs my arm and drags me to his lab. Entering, I find my neighbor, Blue, already standing there.

"Green, what are you doing here?" Oak asks.

"Gramps... it's not Green, it's Blue. And I'm here because you told me to come."

"Oh, right! I was going to give you a Pokémon of your very own! You too, Umbreon," he says, turning to me. "Hold on one second." He disappears into a back room.

"I bet these Pokémon will be good!" Blue says. "Too good for a wimp like you."

"What makes you say that?"

"Well, Gramps used to be a famous trainer, you know. He probably has some very powerful Pokémon, like a Machamp, or a Dragonite..." He trails off as Professor Oak reenters the room.

"Okay. As you know, I used to be a strong trainer. However..." he coughs awkwardly before continuing, "I seem to have misplaced most of my Pokémon." Blue groans. "So you can choose from these! Here, I have a Bulbasaur, a Charmander, and a Squirtle. Umbreon, you choose first. Green, just wait a second."

"Blue! It's Blue!" Blue moans, as I step forward, close my eyes, and pick one randomly. Pressing the button, I see a plant with legs materialize on the floor next to me. I mentally dub it Pain. Blue steps forward, grinning evilly, and picks the Charmander, then turns to me and says, "I challenge you to a battle!"

After wiping the floor with Blue's Charmander, I walk out of the lab whistling and head back home. Finding my mom asleep on the kitchen table, I decide to do what she's claimed to want for two years now, and write a note telling her where I've gone before walking out the door.

"Come on, Pain! Let's get out of this place," I say, as I walk out onto Route 1 with my new friend.

Yeah Yeah ill make an update when I stop procrastenating

Part 3: Sparks Fly Out: Vs. Surge & Illuminating Dark Cave

Part 6: Double Trouble: Isabelle Vs. The Fighting Dojo and Beauty Erica!
Part 7: Safari Zone Adventure: The Missing Teeth & The Secret House: Ah Howhee Ho Hoo! Eef Ee Hafahi ho!
Location: Pokemon Tower
Current Team:
Squirty (level 32) Bite / Water Gun / Tail Whip / Protect

Lately, he hasn't had very much confidence and has been a bit of a sour puss because he's starting to lag behind in levels. He wants to prove himself to Blue somehow... He refuses to co-operate with anyone on the team.

Isabelle (level 34) Wing Attack / Quick Attack / Whirlwind / Featherdance

A real powerhouse on the team, but that isn't evident from her nurturing and motherly behavior. Though, if anyone makes fun of her ugly haircut she will go berserk.

Freida (level 34) PsyBeam / Sleep Powder / Stun Spore / Poison Powder

Freida has gotten over her trauma, and participates in battles again. Due to her time off spent just with her thoughts, she was able to refine her Psychic powers and learn the powerful PsyBeam attack which brought down the grunts in the Rocket Casino. She's gone back to a more carefree and "go with the flow" attitude, but she takes battles very seriously now. Her powders have proved time and time again to be life savers.

Lucky (Level 34) Thunderbolt / Bite / Double Kick / Sand Attack

Received as an Eevee from some random dude, Lucky is very well-mannered and nice. Quickly proving his worth to be on the team, he evolved in the rocket base to a Jolteon who's proficiency with Thunderbolt has shown that beneath that cute, noble exterior lies a true battler. Due to his lovable nature, he's made friends with everyone pretty quickly.

Digger (level 33) Dig / Mud Slap / Rock Tomb / Fury Swipes

Remains relatively quiet, and alone with his 3 heads. He's quick in getting the job done. There is a rivalry between him and Squirty, that Squirty kinda made up. Digger thinks Squirty is an idiot.

Paris (level 19) Cut / Flash

Prefer to just chill at Oak's with her friend Jillian, waiting for the team to beat the E4 so she can get a slice of the cash prize. She occasionally rejoins Blue when he needs assistance clearing trees, or getting through Caves. The heavy berry bag is all thanks to her.

Boxed:
Nosferatu the Zubat, level 7
Jillian the Jigglypuff
Geo the Geodude
Volcheck the Voltorb
Eric the Arbok

Fallen:
Manny the Mankey, Level 12

Part 4: Rocket Casino Conspiracy: Raiding the Rocket Hideout!

So, we cannot make it up that ghostly tower until we can actually see them ghosts. The team & I head for Celadon City to find the Silph Scope.

After having to trek through a route infested with trainers, and then through the underground. We reach Celadon and notice a couple Rocket grunts drifting around... Hmm, suspicious. I begin questioning the locals, and learn a few important things: a) Tea makes you less thirsty, b) Silph Scope is in the possession of the Rockets and c) There is button behind a poster in the casino. Well then... Whenever there is a button, said button must be pressed.

But first a detour. I travel to this sweet penthouse suite owned by some guy babbling on about linking trading or something... As he writes on his chalkboard, I snatch his Eevee and leave while he's not looking. On my way out of the building some nice old lady offers me some tea... Sure, I take some in a thermus to go!

Onto the casino! Gotta blend in right? So I blow all my cash monies on coins and buy a Thunderbolt TM "That'll be useful later, stupid Eeveelutions and their crummy level-up moves". I interrogate a grunt and have my Pokemon kick his ass, exposing the button. Down into the basement below I go... Nobody mind me, or the huge staircase that just appeared... Or the the fact I just had a battle against a criminal... Nope... Fucking gambling addicts :|

Freida and Lucky kick a whole lot of Rocket ass and I use my Thunderstone on Lucky evolving it into a Jolteon and subsequently use my Thunderbolt Tm, as I maneuver about this flying tiles. Finally obtaining the key card for the elevator, I make it to the final room. "Shit's getting serious, I can feel it". I push two guards out of my way and bust open the door to find...

:gasp: Rocket Boss Giovanni! Let's dance, biatch. I need to go clean up the mess you made.

  • Digger vs Onix: The stone snake tries to escape underground and Digger follows, delivering a can of whoop-ass and knocking it out
  • Next up is Rhydon, I decide to switch to Squirty and OHKO with Water Gun
  • Big momma Khangskhan... Now this thing is a real wrecker. I switch back to Digger, only to just barely miss being KO'd by Mega Punch... Not good, this thing's Mega Punch is gonna own my whole team! I swap to Butterfree as she Bites, and Butterfree survives Poision the giant. Switch to my most bulky Pokemon, Squirty, and ProtectStall it to death... Trying a well aimed Water Gun every other turn. Barely alive, Squirty embraces the final Mega Punch.... And.... Khangskhan succumbs to the Poison!
Boss Giovanni flees, forgetting his fancy goggles behind. I snatch them up, and leave town heading back towards Lavender Town. Time to bust some ghosts...

TO BE CONTINUED

Decided to make a Platinum run.

Rules: -Can only catch the first Pokemon in each area, repeats can be skipped. If you kill it, then too damn bad.
-Nickname everyone.
-If a Pokemon faints, it is considered "dead" and placed in a box in the PC and can't be used for the remainder of the challenge.
-Pokeballs can be purchased, but I can only buy until I have 5 in my bag.
-Pokecenter uses are unlimited.
-Absolutely no insane grindfests unless dictated by necessity to level up a replacement or train for the E4.
- Healing items that I have found may be used in critical situations and all of them, bar revives, are available for the E4.
-2 deaths due to hax may be taken back. 1 at any time before the 3rd badge, and the other at any time after that.
-Giftmons do not count against an area's Pokemon count. Neither do Game Corner Pokemon, but I'm not sure if that matters because IIRC you can't buy anything in Platinum. I may be wrong though.

Picked Chimchar (male) as a starter, named Kaidan. He has a neutral nature, I can't remember which. Also, this is my first DPPt run not using Piplup, so... yeah. Wish me luck.

Luck? Mate you'll need a miracle. Chimchar is a good start as you'll need him to take on fat Purugly who'll probably Night Slash crit kill you anyway.

Chapter 20 Arrival at the Elite Four

The journey through victory road felt like an eternity of struggle, battling relentlessly to make sure my companions were ready, but finally I'm at my destination. The doors to the Pokemon League Headquarters stand before me. I place my hand on the door, and it opens easily, as if it was already expecting my arrival. In the lobby of the HQ is a pokemon center, and I let the nurse tend to my pokemon as I sit down to rest for a moment. It's hardly been a year since I began my journey, but it's already felt like I've gone through decades worth of hardship, and now that journey would be nearing its end.

I step through the door leading to the elite four, and get on the elevator platform in front of me. The platform rises up the wall for several seconds, then comes to a halt next to another door. As I head through the door, a chill goes down my spine, as if the air around me just got far colder. At first, I think it's just nerves, but I soon realize it's because I'm actually in a room covered in ice. A young woman wearing glasses sits on a chair made of ice at the far end of the room. She adjusts the glasses on her nose as she raises her head to look at me. "Congratulations, trainer, for making it to the Elite Four. I am Lorelei, master of ice pokemon."

My hands began to tremble the moment I heard her name. "The same Lorelei that was the Cerulean gym leader two years ago, when Johnathan Richards was killed?"

Lorelei stands up from her icy chair "You're his son aren't you? I remember Misty telling me about you. Sure took you awhile to make it here." She reaches down and picks up a pokeball that was sitting on the floor next to her chair.

"Let me guess, we have to fight first before I get to ask any more questions?" I reach for one of my own pokeball, and the two of us summon our first pokemon. Lorelei's first pokemon is a Dewgong. From my pokemon comes Tesla, and Electivire. Knowing she came from Cerulean, I trained Tesla up knowing I'd face some water pokemon, and having an electric pokemon means I can keep Gonzalez rested for the later fights. "Use Thunderbolt!" I quickly shout before Lorelei can issue a command, and Tesla unleashes a blast of electricity that fries Lorelei's pokemon.

"I see you've prepared yourself well" Lorelei grits her teeth as she swaps out her pokemon, choosing a Cloyster as her second pokemon. Tesla responds by unleashing another bolt of lightning. "Protect, now!" The Elite Four member shouts, and a spherical barrier appears around her pokemon. The entire room fills with light as my Electivire's attack collides with the barrier. "Go!" I yell out, and Tesla begins running. The light fades, the Cloyster's barrier falls, and immediately an electrically charged first smashes into the shelled pokemon's face. The light from the previous attack made it impossible for the trainer or her pokemon to see the Thunderpunch coming. Lorelei's second pokemon hits the ground. "It's not that I'm prepared, it's that I'm just better than you." I smile condescendingly as she recalls her second pokemon.

"Well, you're definitely as arrogant as your old man." Lorelei summons her third pokemon, a Slowbro, but another bolt from Tesla quickly dispatches it, and the master of ice pokemon brings out a Lapras. Tesla fires another blast of electricity, but the Lapras manages to stay conscious. The icy monster lunges at its electric opponent, smashing head first into Tesla. Tesla swings a fist at the Lapras, and finishes it off, but then falls to its knees in pain. Lorelei calls back her Lapras, and brings out her last pokemon, a Jynx.

I quickly return my injured companion to his pokeball, and send out Lopez. The Jynx extends out one arm, and shoots out an Ice Beam, but Lopez easily shrugs off the attack. "Finish this, Lopez!" I tell my pokemon, and the Snorlax leaps into the air, its massive body crashing down on the Jynx. Lorelei recalls her final combatant, and the battle ends.

"You're quite skilled, kid." The Elite Four member calmly says as she sits back down in her chair.

"Just tell me what happened to my dad." I snap back at her, barely containing my anger.

"Honestly, I don't know much about what happened. I received a call from Lance a few days before your father was found dead. He simply explained to me that a powerful wild pokemon was running out, but he had already sent someone to take care of. A couple days later, he called me again, this time frantically telling me to make sure no mention of the wild pokemon gets out to the public. It wasn't long after that that the local police found your father's body, and under Lance's orders, I persuaded the police not to mention any details about his cause of death." Lorelei smiles faintly, "One month later, Lance promotes me to the Elite Four for my cooperation."

"What was the cause of death?"

"Mental shock. Richards was attacked directly by something with an incredible amount of psychic power. Was kind of surprised to find out that Lance had went Mr. Richards. The last time I had saw him was when I was still just a trainer at the Cerulean gym and he showed up one day and easily look down the gym leader before me."

"So Blaine was right. He was killed by the pokemon that escaped from the lab on Cinnabar?"

"I honestly never bothered to find out more about what happened back then. Lance never really likes to answer questions. Better ask him yourself, if you make it to him." Lorelei presses a button on her wristband, and a door on the back wall of her rooms open. I say nothing as I walk through the door. There's nothing left to say, not to anyone but Lance. The room behind me is still silent as the door closes. I step on the elevator leading up to my next opponent.

If i do this challenge on heart gold, what restrictions/rules do you guys think i should place on myself (not looking for too much of a challenge :( i grow too attached to my fellow pokemon =D)

Well, you could put a limit on the number of times each pokemon faint
i.e.3 times fainted mean dead (release)
Or if it faints, you just Box it

However these above things arent really Nuzlocke

Anyway, after my epic fail of Nuzlocke on platinum, I decided to to do this with Fire Red, and this time fan fics are coming :)

Yeah New Game!
Well....not really but its a new Starter.....my Cursed starter.

Anyway after dealing with Elms crap (retreving his egg etc etc) things were going quite well. I had 5 poke balls to burn. I enter the grass and...... Spinerak!... great. I named it Arachne after after painfully frinding I got it up to Level 10. I also picked up a Geodude which I named Rocky. I enter Violet City and immediatly enter the next route.... I hope that I get a Marreep...... Its Hopip. @#$%^&
After my Rage was over I caught the damn thing (its a free pokemon after all) and then began the longest grind of my live, finally getting Hopip up to Level 10 when it learnt Tackle. Feeling strong enough I entered the Sprout Tower. Remembering previous runs with Totadile I felt it was too risky for him to battle so I relied on Arachne to do the heavy lifting. Sure enough on the first trainer he CRITs my spider and....I lost 1 health. Take that dickheads. Anyway feeling rather pleased with myself I carried on and defeated the Lead Sage with Jumpluff and Sobek (Totadile)

Falkner was a demanding battle, I quicky took down Pidgey with Sobek's Bite but Pidgeotto was a harder matter. I was eventually able to beat it by hitting it with enough Rages and the firing off a super strong Bite which took it down giving me my first Gym badge. Wasting no time I bought a few Repels and got the Rock Smash HM. Then I entered the Dark Cave (using repels as I did so) until I came accross a bunch of Rocks. I broke them and I encountered a Dunsparce!
I caught it and named it Earthworm before leaving the cave. On further Expection it was revealed that it had Serene Grace as its ability. After training it up a bit I then prepared to continue on my Journey.

Part 0

Part 1: The Road to Viridian (and subsequently Pewter) City

- Fought a lot of Pidgeys and Rattatas on Route 1 during the trips back and forth from Viridian.
- Professor Oak gave me a Pokédex, supposedly to help him fulfill his dream or something. Whatever. I doubt that I'll ever use this thing.
- Went on to Route 22 and caught a Mankey, dubbed Violence.
- After walking past some hyperactive guy who singlehandedly rid the town of its Weedle infestation, I caught a Weedle myself on Route 2, called Anguish. It poisoned Violence, but we made it back just on time, and Violence lived.
- While training Anguish on Route 1, a Pidgey decided to have it as a snack. It poisoned the Pidgey, but I lost one of my team already. I haven't even fought a trainer; this does not bode well.
- RIVAL BATTLE against Blue on Route 22. Pain took out Pidgey, Violence took out Charmander. He condescendingly dismissed me and left. Figures.
- Caught a Caterpie, named Irony, in Viridian Forest. I'm keeping it as backup.
- Viridian Forest is easy with Pain. No poison chance = win.

Next time: BROCK.

Current Team:
Pain the Bulbasaur (Level 10)
Violence the Mankey (Level 10)
Irony the Caterpie (Level 4)

Boxed:
None

Dead:
Anguish the Weedle (Level 4)

Sprocket

If i do this challenge on heart gold, what restrictions/rules do you guys think i should place on myself (not looking for too much of a challenge :( i grow too attached to my fellow pokemon =D)
My recommendation specifically for HeartGold, simply because the game has a super high abundance of routes and areas you can catch Pokemon:

* Treat Gift Pokemon against the area. That means Togepi's egg and Primo's eggs count against Violet City, Bill's Eevee counts against Goldenrod, and so on.
* Don't use the Game Corner, or Day Care.
* Stationary Wild Pokemon (Red Gyarados, Snorlax, Sudowoodo, Lugia, etc) count against the area they spawn in. Don't worry if you defeat them, because beating the Elite Four will respawn them.
* Don't use the Pokewalker at all.
* Treat the Safari Zone as one area, not 6 to 12.

Can anyone recommend a place to train somewhere before the E4 besides Victory Road.... its too dangerous to train in there with some of my Pokemon and i don't want to be exp sharing to much..... Mabey if all the Ace Trainers before Victory Road would call me for a battle more often.... -_-
