OM CCaT (STAB-Mons) (Phase 3: Nominate for Pokemon 6)

Bibarel @ White Herb

Ability: Simple

EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/2 Def/2 Sp. Def, Adamant nature.

IVs: 0 Sp. Atk

Moves:

Shell Smash
Baton Pass
Return
Substitute

This is the classic SmashPass set, which is so good it's being suspected in OU. And it has Simple, doubling the changes. Substitute can be passed as well, and the White Herb restores the reduced defence. Return makes it able to sweep on its own. Could maybe pass to Aerodactyl. Only problem is the defenses, but it only needs to survive one hit.

A replay here, where it passes to Kyurem

jfk guys you can't teambuild in stabmons, it's just spam of boomburst/extremespeed/brave bird/oblivion wing/blue flare/vcreate/knock off/bolt strike/head smash/etc/etc.

You should definitely be running ExtremeSpeed over Return on that set. Even with the speed boost, you want to outspeed other ESpeeders.

Anyways, the mon I propose is MegaZardY

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
Naive Nature
- Blue Flare
- Oblivion Wing
- Focus Blast
- V-create

This set is pretty easy to understand. The main move you're going to be clicking while using this is Blue Flare, as it hits like a truck. Oblivious Wing is great, as it is your healing and a strong move in general. Focus Blast is for coverage vs TTar and Heatran (EQ only hits Heatran more even though this is a mixed set). V-Create is there because not a lot of things can take a sun boost Blue Flare AND a V-Create. Even with 4 attack EVs this thing hurts. Naive was chosen over Hasty because of how prominent ESpeed it, although Hasty helps us take pixilated boomburst better. Set has some weaknesses, and need Defog/Spin support, but I think it can do a lot of work.

EV

Banned deucer.
(stolen from main STABmons thread)

Heatran @ Leftovers / Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 SDef
Bold Nature
- King's Shield
- Searing Shot
- Doom Desire
- Toxic

This set is so good at walling major threats it's insane. Not only can it hold off Talonflame even after a Belly Drum/Shell Smash, it also beats non-Judgment Sylveon, and a ton of physical threats that even have a SE attack thanks to King's Shield*. The combination of King's Shield+Toxic/Burn damage+Doom Desire fits together so well you'll have your opponent pulling out their hair as they switch something in to handle Heatran only to get smacked with a Doom Desire the next turn. This set also pairs very well if you opt to run hazards on your team, which isn't hard considering there are so many options available for that, and I'd recommend Landorus-T due to its Ground immunity and Fighting resistance. Overall, with its great resistances, huge utility with King's Shield, and crazy strong Doom Desire on even resisted hits, Heatran is a great starting point for a balanced STABmons team.

This battle doesn't show everything Heatran is capable of, but it still is at work, even while asleep: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/stabmons-128177526
(And ignore the Bouffalant shenanigans)

+6 252+ Atk Talonflame Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Heatran: 198-234 (51.5 - 60.9%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252+ SpA Pixilate Sylveon Boomburst vs. 244 HP / 12 SpD Heatran: 136-160 (35.4 - 41.6%) -- 82.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

*-2 252+ Atk Guts Ursaring Close Combat vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Heatran: 148-176 (38.5 - 45.8%)
then
0 SpA Heatran Doom Desire vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Ursaring: 238-282 (61.9 - 73.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after toxic damage
0 SpA Heatran Searing Shot vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Ursaring: 169-201 (44 - 52.3%) -- 75.4% chance to 2HKO after toxic damage

My favorite STABmons set

Sylveon power Herb/Earth Plate
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 SpA/252 SpD/4 Spe
Modest Nature
Boomburst
Geomancy(if Power Herb)/Shell Smash(If Earth Plate)
Judgment(If Earth Plate)/Hidden Power Ground(If Power Herb)
Shadow Ball

The set is fairly simple use your set up move either geomancy or shell smash and then sweep with boomburst which becomes fairy with pixilate earth plate judgment or Hp ground takes out poison steel and fire types types who would come to sylveon and shadow ball is just for levitating ghosts skarm and fire flyers like talon or zard y it's a really good set

Scolipede @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Coil
- Megahorn
- Gunk Shot
- Baton Pass
This is a very underrated and very unkown Scolipede set (as far as I know), but it can be very dangerous, giving Scolipede +1 Atk, Def, Spe, and Accuracy in just one turn. Coil is great for upping the accuracy of Megahorn and Gunk Shot, while boosting its Defenses and making it much more powerful. This is a very scary setup sweeper that can easily clean up late game or punch holes mid-game. Baton Pass is a nice final move for Scolipede to get out as fast as possible and pass to a teammate in a pinch, while also just upping the ante of any physical sweeper that Scolipede can switch into. This set is a very cool place to start that can cause some serious damage!

Let's go for a classic set: Band Cube
Kyurem B was one of the largest threats last generation, due to the sheer amount of power backing up it's attacks. It was capable of running powerful priority (powerful due to it's huge attack stat) in ice shard, strong STAB in icicle crash/ice punch, and effective set up in dragon dance. It's sheer bulk also allowed it to switch in to many threats, and destroy them with it's powerful moves.

The set I'm proposing is:

Kyurem Black @ Choice Band
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Shard
- Dragon Claw / Dual Chop

The idea behind this set is simple. Get in on something Kyurem forces out due to it's bulk and resists, and dent the switch in with one of it's powerful moves. Despite being made slightly less effective due to the introduction of fairy types, the sheer power of this set makes it worth running. The choice between dual chop and dragon claw is not a very important one, but is still one to consider, because dual chop has slightly less accuracy, but is capable of breaking substitutes. Dragon claw is the preferred choice, as teravolt gives it a slight edge by allowing them both to get through sturdy.

Aegislash Lum Berry
Ability: Stance Change
Evs: 4 hp / 252 atk / 252 spd
Adamant
- Shift Gear
- Meteor Mash
- Shadow Force
- King's Shield

With amazing Ghost/Steel Typing, Aegislash is immune to prominent normal moves, such as boomburst and Extreme Speed, resistant to fairy moves, and of course has access to king's shield which allows to create mind games, force switches, and stop many physical sweepers, such as Scizor and kyurem-black, in their tracks. This typing combined with his natural physical bulk allows him to almost always get off a Shift Gear.

On the offensive side, stance change turns Aegislash into one of the strongest pokemon in the tier. Finally gaining powerful Ghost STAB, he is now able to OHKO large portions of the tier with a single boost. Additionally, at +2 speed he manages to hit 438 speed, meaning he's faster than the entire unboosted tier (barring Deo-S and Ninjask) and up to positive base base 84s at +1. With the lum berry, he's able to beat Sableye (and Ferrothorn) with a boost, who is used as the most common physical wall in the tier.

Overall, Aegislash is one of the few offensiv Ghosts we have, and arguably the only viable one. His unique typing and mixture of offensive and defensive capabilities allow him a multitude of sweeping opportunities.

Calcs:
+1 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Meteor Mash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sableye: 232-274 (76.3 - 90.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes

+1 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Meteor Mash vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Sableye: 339-400 (111.5 - 131.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Force vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 285-336 (80.9
- 95.4%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes

+1 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Force vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Scizor: 268-316 (95.3 - 112.4%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

+1 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Meteor Mash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kangaskhan: 324-382 (92.3 - 108.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

+1 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Meteor Mash vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Tyranitar: 378-446 (93.5 - 110.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

+1 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Meteor Mash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Garchomp: 280-331 (78.2 - 92.4%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes

+1 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Meteor Mash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Diggersby: 334-394 (107.3 - 126.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Force vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard X: 328-387 (110 - 129.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Meteor Mash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Porygon-Z: 361-426 (115.7 - 136.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 252+ Atk Technician Mega Scizor Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 158-186 (60.5 - 71.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+2 252+ SpA Pixilate Sylveon Boomburst vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 203-239 (77.7 - 91.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Kangaskhan Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 136-162 (52.1 - 62%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+1 252+ Atk Teravolt Kyurem-B Fusion Bolt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 154-182 (59 - 69.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Guts Ursaring Crunch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 204-240 (78.1 - 91.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 Atk Sableye Foul Play vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 134-158 (41.3 - 48.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

0 Atk Sableye Foul Play vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 134-158 (41.3 - 48.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

I think STABmons is just a mess of set up so a new interesting, non-set up, non-choiced, attacking set sould be considered to make things fresh:

Mawile @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
Adamant Nature
- Moonlight
- Substitute
- Play Rough
- Bullet Punch

A bulky Mega Mawile with its amazing typing and stats can force a lot of switches so a sub recovery set is especially interesting, however because of filling 2 of your moveslots Mawile has a severe case of 4mss so it needs a lot of help team wise and should be used as a lategame sweeper or stallbreaker, sub helps you against sableyes spamming will-o-wisp, moonlight is the main niche healing on a bulky subsetter is very usefull, Play rough is of course your best Stab move and Bullet punch forces sylveons and is priority.

I see a bunch of standard stuff, but shouldn't the basis of the team be unique? Something like this:

Skarmory@Leftovers/Lum berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 Def (should be changed)
Adamant nature
- Shift Gear
- Iron Head/Gear Grind/Meteor Mash
- Roost
- Brave Bird/Drill Peck

Offensive skarmory; looks like a gimmick, doesn't? Well, I'm here to tell you that it is. However, Skarmory has a fantastic typing which allows it to not be revenged killed by diggersby, urssring, etc. It has a niche over aegislash in that it cannot be pursuit trapped or killed by other aegislash or stuff like that. At +1, you beat p-z, sylveon, diggersby, and even talonflame 1 on 1. So try it out, maybe it'll actually be successful lol

Some calcs for Bibarel passing to Kyurem-B, which I normally do:

Offensive:

+4 252+ Atk Teravolt Kyurem-B Icicle Crash vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Diggersby: 1388-1634 (371.1 - 436.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO (pretty common mon to face)
+4 252+ Atk Teravolt Kyurem-B Icicle Crash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Deoxys-D: 288-339 (94.7 - 111.5%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO (probably worst-case scenario, not even its best move)
+4 252+ Atk Teravolt Kyurem-B Fusion Bolt vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Heatran: 303-357 (78.4 - 92.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (actually, this is the worst: resists dragon and ice, but who even gives it that EV spread?)
+4 252+ Atk Teravolt Kyurem-B Icicle Crash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 1014-1194 (142 - 167.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Defensive, only priority moves will really have any effect because only scarfed top-speed Pokémon could beat it even with no Speed EVs:

252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Diggersby Extreme Speed vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-B: 255-300 (56.1 - 66%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Pixilate Sylveon Extreme Speed vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-B: 356-422 (78.4 - 92.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (worst case scenario for the EV spread I use)
252+ Atk Technician Mega Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-B: 240-284 (52.8 - 62.5%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Mega Heracross Mach Punch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-B: 188-224 (41.4 - 49.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Mega Tyranitar Sucker Punch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-B: 171-202 (37.6 - 44.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Mold Breaker Mega Gyarados Water Shuriken (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-B: 75-90 (16.5 - 19.8%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery (okay, now I'm getting into the bad joke moves)
252+ Atk Mega Banette Shadow Sneak vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-B: 87-103 (19.1 - 22.6%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Teravolt Kyurem-B Ice Shard vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-B: 132-156 (29 - 34.3%) -- 99.6% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Your calcs ESPECIALLY the defensive ones in particular are very misguided if we do end up using your "classic" bibarel kyurem b is not in any way shape or sort a confirmed teammate.

Thundurus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 188 Atk / 252 Spd / 68 SAtk
Naive Nature
- Bolt Strike
- Oblivion Wing
- Knock Off
- Grass Knot / Superpower

Thundurus is one of the coolest mixed sweepers out there. His unimpressive typing is actually amazing for STABmons, and his stat distribution is excellent as well. Like it or not, Thundurus sports a pretty impressive 115 base attack, and that can do a lot of damage. The STAB options available are basically what makes this set. Bolt strike is incredibly powerful, and has decent coverage: only resisted by ground, electric, grass, and dragon. The power behind it even against neutral targets is quite ridiculous. It OHKOes uninvested sylveon and almost always OHKOes max HP sylveon after rocks. Of course Sylveon will get nixed, but it's technically still relevant. It also can do over 60% to max HP mega scizor, ~70% to max Hp heatran, 2HKO physically defensive rotom-wash, OHKO max/max+ suicune after a layer of hazards. But that's not even the best part. Oblivion wing might not offer much coverage (grass types, strongest against assorted dragons, bugs, fights) but it has the amazing side effect. Coupled with thundurus' shitty HP stat he can recover 30 or 40 percent of his health easily in one turn. I honestly can't stress enough how amazing oblivion wing is, you should use it on every bird. Knock Off is sort of a filler move, but it hits the lati twins and Aegislash. It can also cripple lots of stall mons and give thundurus hope against chansey. The last slot is for coverage. Grass knot slams bulky grounds and rock types. Superpower is annoying because of drops, but it hits Kyurem-B (on switch in because of shard,) Heatran, and Tyranitar (but gk does a lot.) The EVs allow for an OHKO on 4 HP latias after rocks with koff every time. If using superpower, you might want to put more EVs into attack. Defiant is for lack of prankster moves. If you use defog against this guy, you're completely fucked. It doesn't really do much, but it prevents defog and landot switch in I guess.

p.s. Thundurus is actually "The Bolt Strike Pokemon", so there's that.
