Gourgeist-Super as a Counter

Gourgeist-Super @ Leftovers
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Protect
- Leech Seed
- Will-O-Wisp
- Seed Bomb

In a similar vein to Tangrowth, Gourgeist-Super is a bulky Grass-type that can sponge Rhyperior's hits quite well. Although Tangrowth can OHKO with Giga Drain, Gourgeist, can only 2HKO with Seed Bomb. What it CAN do is go either for a Will-O-Wisp or Leech Seed, effectively crippling Rhyperior (It also takes less damage from megahorn than Tangrowth due to ghost typing, so that's p. nice.)

252 Atk Life Orb Rhyperior Megahorn vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 113-134 (30.2 - 35.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Thanks to accelgors natually high base speed, it is able to outspeed + rhyperior and always revenge kill it with energy ball (if its weakened u can use bug buzz too)

252 SpA Life Orb Accelgor Energy Ball vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 511-604 (137.7 - 162.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

A bit of a twist on Uxie, with Grass Knot over U-turn on the standard Rocks set. EVs in SpA guarantee kill on Rhyperior with Knot after Rocks, speed to outspeed up to Adamant Emboar, rest in HP and Def for bulk

Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 208 Def / 52 Spe
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Toxic
- Earth Power

Seismitoad is a check. Able to switch into every attack besides earthquake pretty comfortably and the EVS are made so it can outspeed rhyperior prior a rock polish (with the spread it reaches 197 speed). Scald has a high chance of OHKO with no prior damage, guaranteed after one round of life orb recoil.

0 SpA Seismitoad Scald vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 363-432 (97.8 - 116.4%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

Check cause:

252 Atk Life Orb Rhyperior Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 208+ Def Seismitoad: 203-239 (49.1 - 57.8%) -- 59.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Gonna put the next victim on monday so 2 days left to post more checks/counters!

Bronzong as a Hard Check:

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Gyro Ball
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

Bronzong can take on most of Rhyperior's moves bar Megahorn, which has a chance to 2HKO. The biggest flaw in Bronzong as a check is that it lacks a move to deal a good amount of damage to Rhyperior. The most viable solution to this would be replacing Gyro Ball with Flash Cannon.

252 Atk Life Orb Rhyperior Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Bronzong: 99-117 (29.2 - 34.6%) -- 99.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Soft Counter:

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Earthquake
- Recover
- Scald
- Curse

As long as hazards aren't up, it is in Quagsire's favour to prevent the 2HKO from Life Orb boosted Earthquake from Rhyperior. It can then proceed to either try to fish for a burn on Rhyperior with a Scald or capitalize on the fact that Quagsire can beat Rhyperior one-on-one by setting up Curses and then proceed to KO it with boosted Earthquakes. Once Quagsire is able to get a burn on Rhyperior or get to +1 defense with Curse, it can completely wall it and beat it eventually especially with the recoil damage the Rhyperior inflicts from itself with Life Orb.

252 Atk Life Orb Rhyperior Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 179-212 (45.4 - 53.8%) -- 2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Life Orb Rhyperior Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 179-212 (45.4 - 53.8%) -- 41.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Life Orb Rhyperior Earthquake vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 121-144 (30.7 - 36.5%) -- 4.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

The most versatile sweeper RU have at the moment. Great array of abilities where every one of them can be useful. Shed skin for a 30% chance to cure a status, intimidate for a easier time setting up against some physical attackers and moxie is always cool.

Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 152 HP / 252 Atk / 76 Def / 28 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics

- Swords Dance

Fletchinder has the ability to switch into any move that unboosted Scrafty can use against it without Stealth Rock, although after Stealth Rock it has a small chance to be taken out by both High Jump Kick and Knock Off. Fletchinder has around a 30% chance to OHKO DD Scrafty, and can outpace it using Gale Wings.

Gurdurr's really one of the best Scrafty checks in this metagame, being able to chew even a +1 hit like it's nothing. I'll let the calcs explain it for me

+1 252 Atk Scrafty Drain Punch vs. 252 HP / 36 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 105-124 (28 - 33.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Quagsire as a Counter

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Earthquake
- Recover
- Scald
- Curse

Pretty straightforward. Quagsire sponges hits from Scrafty no matter how many times it uses Dragon Dance due to Unaware. Quagsire can easily Recover the damage off and proceed to set up Curse. The most scrafty could do is attempt to poison Quagsire with Poison Jab, but just switching to something that stops Quagsire would be more reasonable.

252 Atk Scrafty Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 100-118 (25.3 - 29.9%) -- 0.1% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Reserving Granbull

Good Doggie! (Granbull) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 232 Def / 28 Spe
Impish Nature
- Play Rough
- Thunder Wave
- Earthquake
- Heal Bell

Thanks to Intimidate and Fairy typing, Granbull is a Hard Counter. Even if Granbull gets hit with an Intimidate (for some reason), it has a 93.8% chance to OHKO with Play Rough. Even after 4 Dragon Dances, Scrafty can't OHKO. The only way that Scrafty wins this fight is with iron head flinch hax.

0 Atk Granbull Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Scrafty: 408-480 (150.5 - 177.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
-1 0 Atk Granbull Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Scrafty: 268-324 (98.8 - 119.5%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Scrafty Iron Head vs. 248 HP / 232+ Def Granbull: 120-142 (31.3 - 37%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 Atk Scrafty Iron Head vs. 248 HP / 232+ Def Granbull: 180-212 (46.9 - 55.3%) -- 14.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Scrafty Iron Head vs. 248 HP / 232+ Def Granbull: 238-282 (62.1 - 73.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

As a side note, I've been pairing this up with Hitmontop to really punish physical attackers with multiple switch ins. You have to watch out for Braviary, but otherwise it's been rather effective.

Emboar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckess
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Superpower
- Flare Blitz
- Head Smash
- Wild Charge

Scarfed Emboar is a decent check to Scrafty as it has a nice typing advantage vs it. It maybe a bit difficult for it to switch directly into High Jump Kick, but It can easily switch in against a predicted Knock Off/Poison jab. Even if Scrafty decides to use Dragon Dance while Emboar switches in, it still doesn't matter as Scrafty at +1 speed will not be able to outspeed Scarfed Emboar, and Emboar can OHKO Scrafty with a single Superpower, making Scarfed Emboar a solid revenge killer and a decent check to Scrafty.

Focus Blast has a chance to OHKO Scarfty 100% with one spikes which it can provide for its self or you could even OHKO Scarfty with Final Gambit since Accelgor has a Higher HP number then Scrafty (can OHKO it until Accelgor at 90%) and outspeed said it still after a plus one dragon dance still or can even Encore it into Dragon Dance .

Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Dazzling Gleam
- Roost
- Defog / Nasty Plot
- Baton Pass / Thunder Wave / Heal Bell

Any set with Dazzling Gleam is a pretty solid Scrafty counter outside of Life Orb Iron Tail sets or Roseli Berry with Stealth Rock up idek but 49 says this mon is customizable to beat everything and i agree so bust this one.

+1 252 Atk Scrafty Poison Jab vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Togetic: 110-130 (35.1 - 41.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Check/Counter. Aromatisse Leftovers
Ability: Aroma Veil
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Wish
-Protect
-Aromatherapy/Calm Mind
-Moonblast

Aromatisse resists both of Scrafty's STABs and takes minimal damage from them, although having your Leftovers knocked off is never fun. WishTect is there to get a Wish off safely, Aromatherapy cures the team's status, and you can run CM to maybe get a late game sweep off, although Aromatherapy is usually better, and Moonblast is there as a STAB move that kills Scrafty easily, unless it has Roseli Berry. Aromatisse can always switch in on Scrafty, even on it's coverage moves, although it has a chance to be 2HKOed after a DD boost. and that's Aromatisse, the Scrafty check/counter.

Gonna reserve amoonguss

Nomming Amoonguss as a Check:

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Bold Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Synthesis

Thanks to Clear Smog, Amoonguss can eliminate all the boosts provided by Dragon Dance Scrafty relies upon for sweeping. Any damage caused by Scrafty at +2 can easily be recovered with Synthesis. Naturally resisting Drain Punch, the only problem Amoonguss would have is having its Black Sludge knocked off, which would be very problematic for the future. (Side note: the best possibility for Scrafty to win against Amoonguss is having Amoonguss switch in to rocks, then receiving two +2 Knock Offs.)

+1 252 Atk Scrafty Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Amoonguss: 184-217 (42.5 - 50.2%) -- 38.7% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery
(after K.O.): +1 252 Atk Scrafty Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Amoonguss: 124-147 (28.7 - 34%)
252 Atk Scrafty Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Amoonguss: 84-99 (19.4 - 22.9%) -- 6.8% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock

Scrafty can't kill at +0 while CC does around 80%. Then you just mach punch and finish him off. If it's chople then you're done for but scrafty has no actual hard counter if you factor in resist berries so w/e. This is a counter.

Calcs:

Healthy reminder that many of this checks and counters can be surprised by a resist berry (chople, roseli, coba, etc) but the idea of the project is to provide a general idea of what can deal with said threat. Gotta keep it simple.

Victim of this next week goes to:

EVs: 132 HP / 252 SpA / 124 Spe
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm

Amoonguss as a Counter/Hard Check

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Bold Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Stun Spore

(Gosh I swear Amoonguss checks most tangy sets). Due to being a Grass AND Poison Type, Amoonguss has a x4 resistance to Leaf Storm, a x2 resistance to Focus Blast, and immunity to Sleep Powder. Thanks to Life Orb recoil, it has a higher chance to kill Tangrowth with Sludge Bomb which does around 78.6-93% damage. Due to this, Amoonguss could also force Tangrowth out, giving it the opportunity to Spore the switch-in. The biggest problem for Amoonguss is Hidden Power Ice, but it is still a low chance to 2HKO if Amoonguss were to switch in at full health if rocks are up.

252+ SpA Life Orb Tangrowth Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 96 SpD Amoonguss: 71-84 (16.4 - 19.4%) -- possible 8HKO after Black Sludge recovery

Though Meloetta is annoyed by Sleep Powder, it can switch into any hit from Tangrowth from full and proceed to OHKO it with Specs Hyper Voice or Psychic because Tangrowth has terrible special defense. Though Leaf Storm can 2HKO Meloetta, it can definitely stomach one due to its great natural Special Defense.

252+ SpA Life Orb Tangrowth Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Meloetta: 218-257 (63.9 - 75.3%) -- 85.2% chance to 2HKO
