Some of the points you're making are wrong. The state does kill its own citizens:

and yeah the Viet Cong was very underequipped and under-trained compared to the US army but they were successful. same to an extent with the Naxalites in India. (edit: not saying the Naxalites are fighting the US)
Ummm... if you need protection, I think wearing bullet vests make more sense.

What country are you from? Are you familiar with the term "revolution?"
Heard of the umbrella revolution in Hong Kong?
No one had guns apart from the police.

We had a gear for protection from the police, not weapons.

Fair; and I lived in the US before(hold a passport actually)/go to the US for college, so its not really necessary to give an Indian example for me to get it lol. The vietnam war i'm pretty sure was considered one of the greatest losses for the us war wise; and yeah i did neglect the police killings and stuff but I'm pretty sure those are not state sanctioned in the classic sense; I think this is a bit far removed from the event being discussed, but so were some of my points; again doesn't mean that gun culture in the US is a positive thing, and I can raise the case of numerous 1st world countries where there are v strict gun laws, yet the government isn't suddenly undertaking mass executions of its own people(unless you count korea...?); and this shouldn't draw from lgbt rights discussion/ignore the people who died.

can't respond right now as I'm really short on time but I definitely wasn't mentioning the Naxalites just because you're Indian haha, I didn't even notice that until I saw your profile just now. It was just one of the first things I thought of

LOL. So your example of tyrannical governments is right there. I'm sure the mainland Chinese (and all the minorities living under Chinese rule) love living under one of the more repressive governments in the world right now.
