Welcome to Uncharted Territory! This forum is for discussing the new Pokémon games, Pokémon X and Y, which will be released worldwide on October 12th!

    1. Before posting a new thread, please check the thread index to make sure there is not already a thread dedicated to your topic. Additionally, use the search feature to help you find existing topics. Do not make duplicate threads.

    2. Do not post your in-game team here, or ask for help to improve your team. The Rate My Team section is the place to do this, which can be found here.

    3. All posts should be based on actual in-game information. Please do not post speculation or your suggestions for fantasy Pokémon.

    4. No discussion of ROMs is allowed. However, discussion based on importing the game is entirely allowed and welcome.

    5. In threads discussing the metagame, do not assume any particular Pokémon are banned. Additionally, do not suggest that certain Pokémon should be banned, or that they will probably be banned. Finally, do not post predictions on which Pokémon will be banned. When we'll have enough information on the new games, the OU tiering council will discuss about an initial banlist for the standard OU metagame.

5b. Please refrain from theorymoning moves that you think a pokemon should or should not get. Stick with what is confirmed please.

    6. Do not create threads just to ask a question. Likewise, don't make posts just to ask simple questions. Simple gameplay related questions, that do not promote any form of discussion, go in the Ask a simple question, get a simple answer thread. Be sure to read the first post before asking or answering questions.

    7. As you might have already noticed, this forum has a sub-forum for discussing non-policy related topics. Warstories, Community Create a Team, Dark Horse and other community projects should be posted there.

    8. DO NOT make posts asking or inviting discussion about Pokemon you have bred / traded / trained in cartridge. We are here to discuss strategy-- we don't care what IVs you got on your Chatot. Please take these types of topics to the wifi forum.

    9. Posting guidelines:
    Show Hide
    - Don't double post. There's an edit button for a reason. If you need to delete one of your posts, the delete button is an option after selecting edit.

    - Make the effort for your posts to be grammatically correct and coherent. We understand that not everyone speaks English as their first language, and we're willing to give some leeway here, but if English is your first language you really have no excuse to be making incoherent posts. Bad formatting not only makes your posts unpleasant to read, but they also lessen the positive impact of the points you're trying to make.

    - Don't put your opinion in hide tags. This isn't really infract-worthy but if you're going to write a paragraph of your thoughts and opinion, make it visible. Hide tags have their place, but hiding your opinions in hide tags is apt to make people not read them at all. There is enough censorship on the internet already, don't censor yourself here.

    - Avoid excessive quoting. It's obnoxious, especially when you quote three paragraphs to answer with a one-liner. Please don't do that.

    - Don't reply to a quote by putting bold text inside the quote box. This is execeedingly difficult to properly respond to. If you feel the need to break up a quote, you can do so by editing the quote tags. For example:

    [ QUOTE=User's Name]
    Paragraph 1

    Paragraph 2
    [ /QUOTE]

(The spaces in the tags shouldn't be there, this is just to show you the format)
    Would become:

    [ QUOTE=User's Name]
    Paragraph 1
    [ /QUOTE]

    Response

    [ QUOTE]
    Paragraph 2
    [ /QUOTE]

-Do not insult or flame other users. Correcting users when they say something that's clearly wrong is fine. Calling them a fag or saying they are stupid/retarded is an automatic 2 point infraction, no exceptions for anyone, badged users included.

    10. Non-competitive topics should be posted in Orange Islands. Orange Islands is the sister forum of Uncharted Territory for discussion related to Pokémon XY. Whereas Uncharted Territory houses discussion related to competitive play, Orange Islands houses threads created for the sole purpose of aiding you in your play through of Pokémon XY. The Casual Discussion forum contains the following helpful threads:
    • Pokémon XY Experiences: a thread for discussing your opinions on Pokémon X and Pokémon Y
    • SQSA: a thread for requesting help or specific information about the games
    • Pokémon XY Guides: threads such as item location guides, TM location guides, and walkthroughs
An useful guide to thread formatting.

As a rule of thumb, remember that the application of each and every rule is subject to moderator discretion. If you have questions about the rules or their interpretation, then feel free to contact an Uncharted Territory moderator via private message.

    A Guide to OU Labels

Uncharted Territory is currently the only forum on smogon to use the label system. We used it back in the old Dragonspiral Tower forum, and with the rush of new information that Generation X and Y will bring, have decided to bring this feature back so we can organise things much better.

Ideally, the system should allow you to sort threads via label for ease of viewing, as well as allowing people to view the threads that interests them. Since this feature needed to be re-added in the switch, there might be teething problems. if there is, please let a supermod or an admin know so we can fix them!

    (Pokémon)
This label should be used when creating a discussion thread relating to a single Pokémon. When creating a thread, please just use the name of the Pokémon. Additional text like "Suicune, the Aurora Pokémon" is not necessary and makes it harder to search for a specific thread. Remember that we will only allow one discussion thread for each pokemon, so run a forum search to see if the pokemon you wish to make a thread on already has a discussion thread, if not, go right ahead!

    (Warstory)
This label should be used when creating a thread containing a warstory. Be very careful about formatting a warstory, to make sure it is easy on the eye, as well as making sure the battle is a good read, and interesting to the reader. Warstories will go in the Non Competitive XY Forum, alongside XY projects such as Dark Horse, Research Weeks, and CCAT.

    (Move)
This label should be used when creating a discussion thread relating to a single move or a group of similar moves. When creating a thread, please just use the name of the move. Additional text is not necessary and makes it harder to search for a specific thread.

    (Ability)
This label should be used when creating a discussion thread relating to a single ability or a group of similar abilities. When creating a thread, please just use the name of the ability. Additional text is not necessary and makes it harder to search for a specific thread.
    (Data)
This label should be used when creating a thread relating to data extracted from the game or for research purposes. Minor researched information should be posted in the XY Research Thread

    (Item)
This label should be used when creating a discussion thread relating to a single item or a group of similar items. When creating a thread, please just use the name of the item. Additional text is not necessary and makes it harder to search for a specific thread.
    (Other)
All threads that do not fit into one of the other categories should use this label. General discussion threads should use this label.
