Pelipper [QC 0/3]

HypnoEmpire

Yokatta...

He's got big pecks

Overview
########
  • Great defensive typing
  • Good physical bulk
  • Defog and Roost
  • Weak to Stealth Rock
  • x4 weak to Electric-type moves and x2 weakness to Rock-type moves
  • Bad special bulk
We Pelican Fly
########
name: We Pelican Fly
move 1: Scald
move 2: Defog
move 3: Roost
move 4: U-turn / Toxic / Knock Off
ability: Rain Dish
item: Leftovers
evs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
nature: Bold

Moves
========
  • Scald is STAB and burns physical attackers.
  • Defog is Pelipper's main niche over other bulky Water-types.
  • Roost for reliable recovery.
  • U-turn for momentum.
  • Toxic can be used to cripple walls.
  • Knock Off because it's Knock Off.
Set Details
========
  • With the given spread, Pelipper can switch into physical attackers well.
  • Rain Dish is Pelipper's best ability because Keen Eye isn't good. Can restore health against Rain teams, I guess.
  • Leftovers to recover health, of course.
Usage Tips
========
  • Switch into physical attackers, more specifically Fighting-types as it can check Infernape, Heracross, and Mienshao well.
  • If there are hazards, use Defog.
  • If the opposing Pokemon doesn't immediately threaten pelipper, then use Scald.
  • Predict a special attacker switch-in and U-turn out.
Team Options
========
  • Pokemon that appreciate Defog support such as Darmanitan and Honchkrow.
  • Pokemon that resist Rock- and Electric-type moves are great.
  • Works well with stall Pokemon like Blissey and Slowbro.
  • Hippowdon is an excellent teammate as it resists Rock-type moves and it's immune to Electric-type moves as well as being an excellent wall.
Other Options
########
  • Specially defensive spread, but it doesn't check much. It can decently switch into Mega Houndoom, Hydreigon, and the Nidos lacking Thunderbolt.
  • Gimmicky Stockpile set.
  • Tailwind.
Checks & Counters
########

**Special Attackers**: Almost any special attacker can fit here. Hydreigon and Mega Blastoise fit.

**Electric-types**: Mega Ampharos and Raikou threaten Pelipper out easily, but other Pokemon with Electric-type coverage moves like Victini can also wipe it out.

**Opposing Walls**: If Pelipper lacks Toxic, opposing walls such as Mew and Slowbro can stall it out.

Pretty sure you meant Relaxed, but Bold is still prefered anyway; it's not like Pelipper's physical attacks are actually used for damage, and Pelipper prefers not to be outslowed guaranteed by stuff like Umbreon and Chesnaught.

if you don't want this to be rejected you have to make a convincing argument as to why someone would ever use pelipper in UU

not a list of why it's different from other defoggers, a reason why it's better in any case

good luck lol
