In past generations, Piloswine has been overlooked and often seen as outclassed by other, stronger Ground-types such as Rhyperior and Donphan. Thanks to a combination of Piloswine's evolution, Mamoswine, and a new item called Eviolite, Piloswine has a new lease on life in the NU tier. Eviolite gives all Pokemon that arent fully evolved a noticable boost in Defense and Special Defense, and with Piloswine's already decent bulk combined with this item, it goes from a mild mannered mammoth to a formidable tank capable of going toe to toe with top NU threats, and winning. Piloswine is no slouch offensively either, with a high base 100 attack stat, two excellent STABs, and a myraid of Ice-type moves for purposes such as breaking down Substitute users, revenge killing dangerous threats, or just flat out hitting hard. Its not all perfect for the little mammoth though, despite having excellent offenses and defenses, its Speed leaves much to be desired, making Piloswine rely on the weak Ice Shard to hit faster Pokemon. Also, while Piloswine's typing is great offensively, it is quite flawed defensively, leaving poor Piloswine open to common attacking types such as Grass, Water, and Fire. Regardless, Piloswine is an often overlooked, yet powerful offensive and defensive threat, and should always be considered when building a team.

• very underrated
• can set stealth rock
• ice/ground is excellent offensively, but not the best defensively
• pretty good attack
• ice shard lets piloswine revenge birds and shit like cacturne
• icicle spear breaks subs and does a large amount to tangela if it hits 5 times
• 100/80/60 defenses are good even without eviolite
• nearly as bulky as tangela with eviolite factored in!
• slow, and relies on ice shard to hit faster threats
• typing gets in the way defensively sometimes
• it tanks band sawk close combat
• with max/max eviolite and no rocks

name: Stealth Rock
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Icicle Spear
move 4: Ice Shard
item: Eviolite
ability: Thick Fat
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Hp / 252 Atk / 4 Def

• uses a combination of bulk and power to reliably set stealth rock and beat other common users of stealth rock and related moves such as garbodor, golem, and regirock
• Stealth Rock because without it this set wouldnt be a stealth rock set
• Earthquake is the main STAB to hit stuff with
• icicle spear breaks sturdy, subs, and does more damage than EQ if it hits 5 times
• ice shard is priority for picking of weakened opponents and revenge killing pokemon weak to it such as swellow

• eviolite makes him bulky

• evs and nature give piloswine as much power and bulk as possible
• superpower/stone edge to beat cryogonal down and preserve your rocks
• works on pretty much every team that needs a bulky and powerful stealth rock setter than can beat golem/have priority
• icicle crash could be useful as a more consistent ice attack, but icicle spear is good for breaking substitutes and sturdy
• once again, braviary is a good partner for wallbreaking
• flareon is also a good teammate for taking on magmortar, and grass attackers, as is grumpig, both can support piloswine in various ways with wish and heal bell.
• this set is much weaker than the offensive sets, and should be paired with wallbreakers like braviary and emboar, and sweepers such as gurdurr and fraxure to use stealth rock to break through the opponent's defenses

• a more defensive spread of 252 hp / 4 atk / 252 def can be used to tank more hits, and toxic can be used to hurt what piloswine cant touch

name: Offensive
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Ice Shard
move 3: Icicle Spear
move 4: Icicle Crash / Stone Edge
item: Choice Band / Life Orb
ability: Thick Fat
nature: Adamant
evs: 4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

Piloswine can also utilize its excellent coverage, unique Ice-type moves, and high base 100 Attack to make a very effective Choice Bander. When using Piloswine, the main Attack it will be using will probably be Earthquake, it is the most powerful and consistent of all of Piloswine's moves, and does major damage to any Pokemon that doesnt resist it, 2hkoing the likes of Quagsire, Specially Defensive Miltank, and Gurdurr easily. Ice Shard gives Piloswine utility as a revenge killer that can serve as a check to the likes of Swellow, Braviary, Sawsbuck, and Rotom-S, among others. It also allows Piloswine to pick off weakened Pokemon late game. Icicle Spear is a very useful move, breaking Substitutes and Sturdy, while also having a chance to hit harder than even Earthquake if it hits 5 times, It also lets it OHKO Golem before it can set up Stealth Rock. Icicle Crash is Piloswine's most consistent Ice-type move, 2hkoing Tangela, and hitting many opponents that come in on Earthquake such as Amoonguss very hard. Stone Edge can also be used in the last moveslot to hit Armaldo harder than any other Attack, but keep in mind that Armaldo can be 2hkoed by Earthquake or Icicle Spear after rocks meaning the extra coverage is often uneeded.

• uses excellent coverage, cool utility, and sheer power to damage the opponent
• Earthquake is the main attack you should be using, consistent and does enough damage to most pokemon that dont resist it
• Ice Shard is great for revenge killing things such as swellow, braviary, sawsbuck, and rotom-S
• Icicle Spear Breaks substitutes, and is insanely powerful if it hits 5 times, nearly OHKOing tangela
• Icicle Crash is more consistent than icicle spear, and still 2hkos tangela
• stone edge hits armaldo and koes cryogonal 100 times over, not much use otherwise, ice/ground is pretty much perfect coverage

The given EV spread and Nature gives Piloswine as much power as possible, while also outspeeding base 80's with no Speed investment such as Defensive Gardevoir, Altaria, and Grumpig. The choice between a Choice Band and a Life Orb depends on whether you want Piloswine to hit as hard as possible, while not losing any HP, or if you want to give up a bit of power and longetivity for the ability to switch attacks, which can be the difference between a win and a loss at times. With enough Speed to outrun any Golem, Piloswine the ability to use Icicle Spear to break Golem's Sturdy and possibly OHKO it before it even gets to use Stealth Rock. Superpower is an option for Piloswine to hit Rotom-F and Cryogonal, but it doesnt really provide any additional coverage, Rotom-F can be 2HKOed by CB Icicle Crash after Stealth Rock, while Cryogonal can be OHKOed by the same move.

• Adamant nature is used for more power, speed is to outrun uninvested base 80's
• the choice between band and LO depends on if you want to hit hard, while not taking recoil, or being able to switch moves while losing a little bit of power
• great anti golem pokemon because band icicle spear can OHKO through sturdy
• superpower can hit rotom-F with 100% accuracy, but is illegal with icicle crash
• good teammates include Pokemon that like having no rocks on the field, want tangela removed, or want birds removed from the match
• Braviary is a great teammate for wallbreaking along with piloswine, spamming brave bird to soften things up for piloswine to clean up later, while piloswine beats golem and other things braviary needs superpower for, piloswine can also switch into the electric type moves that plague braviary
• snow cloak has use against...... MANUAL HAIL YEAH
• things like quagsire, carracosta, and relicanth like tangela removed from the match
• zebstrika forms a decent core with piloswine as well, forcing out things that wall it such as alomomola
• something to switch into magmortar such as camerupt or flareon is useful, as magmortar is greeat at revenge killing piloswine

[Other Options]

• Body slam for paralysis
• endeavor+ice shard for the lols
• amnesia
• light screen
• curse
• use on trick room teams
• toxic
• endure when pinch berries are released
• substitute
• hail for manual hail
• special ice moves+ancientpower

• Restalk

[Checks and Counters]

• Alomomola can take anything bar a toxic
• musharna can also take hits rather well
• gurdurr can come in on piloswine and hit it with a super effective mach punch
• things such as sawk and magmortar can easily revenge kill piloswine
• anything faster with a super effective move that isnt weak to ice shard can revenge kill it
• samurott can take an earthquake and aqua jet back for the KO
• ludicolo can switch in on EQ
• toxic works well against piloswine without rest

rotom-F takes on everything bar stone edge or superpower

• Thick fat will be awesome, giving piloswine a resistance to ice, as well as the ability to be neutral to fire attacks, will be main ability once its released

on my phone so posting to say slash icicle spear and icicle crash and leave stone edge to itself. There's no need for 3 Ice-type attacks on the same set and they both do pretty much the same to the mons they're hitting (if icicle spear hits 5 times :\). It should be preference to break through subs or just hit hard as shit.

To be fair, Ice / Ground hits almost everything, bar Cryo (who still gets destroyed by either Icicle crash or Icicle Spear), Rotom-F (super underrated but never seen), and Bronzor (which Stone Edge doesn't do much about).

Also, on the second set, because it's supposed tank hits and set sr and not care about its speed, I don't think you're allowed to speed creep (e.i. put that EV on defense) for nitpick reasons.

yeah, ice ground coverage hits pretty much everything but cryo, rotom-F, and CHAMPION BRONZOR, the only one that stands a chance/is used at all is rotom-F, who is 2hkod by CB icicle crash after rocks, and lol at cryo taking a physical attack (it can be OHKOed by the same attack with rocks!)

ill have other QC members put in their opinions on this

The ability for all sets should be Oblivious at the moment. Yes, Attraction is rare, but it can still come around from stuff like Cute Charm pokemon and it's much more commonly used by noobs than Hail.

Other than that, I have no objections, Piloswine is a baller. Just make sure to emphasise Curse and Rest Talk (and possibly even the combination of the two) in the OO when you're writing this up over shit like Amnesia and Light Screen.

QC Approve 2/3

Alright I'll bite on this, having three ice moves is perfectly fine when you have the choice of fucking subbers, walls AND priority abusers.

just letting everyone know that i switched the order of the sets upon request, i was also requested to use fewer speed EVs on the CB set, but whenever i tried a slower CB Piloswine, i ended up being screwed over by something i could have outsped and OHKO/2HKOed if it had max speed .-.. Opinions?
