I just hope the game isn't as fucking linear as the Gen V ones have been. A bunch of the Gen V Pokemon ought to be reused as well, because many of them don't get a chance to really shine in BW / BW2. Think about it, you get about 1/3 of the Pokemon after you've already established your team and don't want / need anything else. Think of how cool it would have been to get things like Afro Bull, Cubchoo, Mienfoo, and Durant (and whatever the fuck that Fire-type is that you find with Durant) earlier in the game. Yeah, I know you can just start with eggs of them, but that's not the same, at least not for me.

EDIT: And Jesus fucking Christ, please don't put Chimecho in Gen VI. Or at least evolve it if you do.

Uhmmm well Durant and Bouffalant are meant to be powerful and potential additions to your team later on. Cubchoo and Mienfoo, for the sake of their designs, really did feel out of place in terms of availability in BW, but the game devs want you to catch newer cooler Pokemon and learn more about the Pokemon world. The typical trainer is a novice collector who catches whatever they find interests them and/or whatever they think they'll need for an upcoming gym. It would certainly be interesting to have access to something that's got a lot of raw power, but ultimately it would make the rest of the game boring for non-competitive players.

It's a funny topic, Chimecho is. It's got this little out of place pre-evolved form that they only seemed to put in for fluff, or variety amongst Pokemon in Gen IV. An evolved chime-tree SuperChimecho would help justify its present evolutionary line and make it a more valuable team member through most of the game. At least, I think so. Who doesn't love a little floating psychic with tassles coming out the wazoo?

Chimecho is cute and pure love, it was just mean for NU, like Plusle and Minun, but it does help it's team pretty decent by using Heal Beal, having inmunity to ground, and it was one of best Calm Minders of NU in the ADV generation. Just like Kadabra/Alakazam always outclassed Mr. Mime, but Mr. Mime was pure full of win on UU/NU battles, and later a nice part of Baton Pass chains (still NU at the end, anyway).

Chimecho could have be a great Fancy Cup Pokémon if weren't for it's pre-evolution (Chingling is still excesive cute!).

Something I want to see in this generation:

    A "Trade Stone"

Basically, a stone allowing you to evolve something that would normally only evolve through trading.

Given, there should probably only be one per game so as not to remove that need to trade entirely, and I don't know how it would work with the accelgor/escavalier pair or things that evolve by trading with an item, but it's something I really hope can happen.

Not likely, but a boy can dream.

Evolving pokemon that require a trade w/ held item to evolve could work with the trade stone, just have them hold their metal coat, upgrade, what have you, and use the stone just like any other evolutionary stone. Though I think it should be available in game more than one, but only post story in the battle tower or something for a ton of BP.

This could also help the starters a lot since all of them have Blaze/Torrent/Overgrow, so they could effectively get 2 boosts at red health. Toss in a pinch berry and go to town with your Dragon Dance Feraligatr with a +2 Attack, +3 Speed boost.

I'm not sure you can do it with Characteristic, though, because that is dependent on the highest IV and has an awkward calculation in a tie.

I'd like to see a scenario where sub-par IVs are useful for those who don't want to worry about IVs: In-game, this would be great because every Pokémon would be more useful (your starter, for example, could easily go mixed/physical sweeper/special sweeper/tank/speed demon in many replays of the game). Non-competitively, this would be a lot more interesting. Competitively, it could make things very interesting (imagine sacrificing IVs to be outsped in the usual case but receiving a +1 Speed boost at red health in exchange).

On a completely different note, I came upon this article that says "CHILDREN searching the web for videos of the latest game in the popular Pokemon franchise are being directed to hardcore PORN websites." That's just sad. I think parents should really be aware of this.

But you know what's more sad? When I shared the article to some of my friends, it turned out that when I rushed in yesterday and excitedly shared the upcoming Pokemon X, it DID cross their mind that I was referring to porn. What do they take me for?

Wasn't that Rhydon in 1st gen ? Or more probably the sub doll that was based on Rhydon...
That would be funny and with an ability that doubles the HP of the sub (but doesn't remove more hp).

Thankfully, the amount of buzz about this issue has actually pushed a lot of the porn off of "Page 1" results.

I love pokemon. However, having played all five generations I can't say I'm all that chuffed with the new direction pokemon is going in. I for one think that the formula for the games is perfect. The introduction of a new 3D game really rocks the boat in my opinion. For me, pokemon is defined by the part 3D gameplay. When a new game comes out, the things that excite me are new pokemon, new types, new places, new trainers and new gym leaders and not someone taking a crowbar to the visual chemistry.

If I took the point of view that this was a new pokemon game, (without the change in visuals) and was judging the game purely on the merits of the pokemon advertised then you can colour my response mixed. For four (and now five) generations, the game designers have given us the choice of one of three starter type pokemon (fire, water, grass). Yes, I will grant you, they have toyed with the secondary types somewhat, with exciting additions like Empoleon, Swampert and Blaziken but history continues to repeat itself and again we have three of the same types (cue audible groans). In saying all of that, the legendary types simply look breathtaking! But come on, isn't it time to spice things up a bit when it comes to the starter types! Anybody think I'm right, half right or just downright wrong? Hop to it people.

I'm pretty sure someone posted earlier that the starters are FWG because it's an obvious type triangle that anyone can figure out. This makes the game more accessible to new players. So I think that anytime there's going to be a pokemon main series game, the starters will be FWG. That's why most people get excited about secondary types, because that's what "spices up" the gameplay in the beginning. I think it would be cool to have other triangles (Flying, Fighting, Rock or others come to mind) for starters, but I just don't see it happening is all. Besides, if you really don't want to use the same starters, you can just box it and take the first Normal/Flying you see as your "starter".

    Seems to be fixed:
    https://www.google.com/#hl=en&tbo=d...74,d.b2U&fp=1c08bedf3afadd2d&biw=1600&bih=756

When you add "videos", it does link to porn. :/

Google really needs to filter porn from non-porn, and give you the option to search for porn exclusively in a different link/option.

Guys. I don't know if this is just a weird coincidence, but the games seem to be set in France, and check out what I just stumbled upon:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yvelines

    Par hasard.

Edit: Basically, maybe Yveltal is named after a département of France. Is it possible Xerneus is named after a different one?

Edit2: Okay, now there's basically no question in my mind that this is the origin of the name Yveltal. Did anyone else figure this out already?

Yeah, when I get bored with the normal starters I take something else to use. In Ruby it was a Ralts. (Go fuck yourself, Wally!) In HeartGold it was a Geodude. In Black it was a Lilligant. I'll soon be starting a BW2 Nuzlocke with a Bagon for a starter, with a few friends starting with a Dratini and Deino respectively. (They'll be my rivals instead of the silly game ones.)

We really need some news that tells us something solid.

Terrible decision to call Pokémon X. When you search for "Pokemon X Videos", google understand as "Pokemon X Videos" if you know what I mean... I hope that Game Freak becomes aware of this.

This is similar to what happens when you search for "Sonic X Videos". If you want to avoid this, type on google: "'Pokemon X' Videos" instead of "Pokemon X Videos".

Good point on the Yvelines but there's no department in France that have a name close to Xerneas appart from maybe Isère but that's about it, no department name that starts with X.

As a French guy, I'm curious on how France will be represented in this game : baguettes, camember, wine from Bordeaux anyone ? :p

If they have all of those things, I will be a happy man. But yeah, it doesn't explain where they got Xerneus.

That's about the only explanation I can think of that fits. I tried 'Saenrex' (Xerneas backwards) and got nothing. (Though a misspelling - Sanrex - gave a thyristor/diode manufacturer. Xerneas electric type confirmed! Trololo.)
