I find Ninfia being Normal-type and CoroCoro being mysterious about its type makes even more sense than it being Flying or Dragon or ??? or Light or Fairy or Dragon/Fighting or whatever. We know Eevee changes its typing upon evolution, if we had now an Eeveelution that's "Eevee's definitive form" that has increased stats, better ability and is still Normal, then of course they'd hide it from the public for a while. I know I am already expecting something better than lol Leafeon this time around.

Also, these are in Portuguese, but

    It's pink (open)
    urgh I could swear I re-uploaded them

The majority of pink pokémon aren't Normal-type, and the majority of Normal-type pokémon aren't pink.

While dragon's a good type, the type chart isn't the only thing at work - it also has loads of great high-stat mons. I venture that the likes of Garchomp and Rayquaza would still be beastly even with different typing. Indeed, if you look at the ubers stats Dragon Arceus is far from the most popular form; OK so there are metagame considerations (*lots* of other Uber dragons) but I'd say it's a good indication the type isn't inherently broken.

In general of course the type chart isn't perfectly balanced, but there's no one ultimate type, and no one abysmal type. A perfectly balanced type chart would end up like a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock and there'd be no reason to choose one type over another, a dreadfully boring state of affairs.

Well this is six of one and half a dozen of the other. A Pokemon with good defensive stats and a poor defensive type will have problems, and likewise though less severely for an offensive Pokemon, but do you blame the type and type chart for not suiting the stats, or the stats for not suiting the type? It's only the factors coming together along with the wider metagame (Stealth, bloody, Rock) that make a competitively poor Pokemon.

Because it's an Eeveelution with non-obvious typing and they knew we'd all be going crazy trying to guess!

    Surrender monkeysPacifists.

I beat you to it on page 183 :-P

I guaran-damn-tee that there'll be some use of Streetpass in XY. Nintendo wouldn't have one of their flagship franchises not use the 3DSes neato features. I just hope it's something unimportant. I only take my 3DS with me when I plan on using it and as such I rarely get hits.

Colress was amoral. Under the ice-cool veneer is a classic mad scientist pursuing a goal without regard of the consequences.

    Exactly.

Also, may I remember you that Stealth Rock was intended to makes the game more balanced when it was added ?

Before Stealth Rock, Flying type could avoid every Entry Hazard

"We dreamed of stopping the advantage of birds in metagame... and we succeeded." Game Freak

So, its maybe better not to count too much on them.

The Ninfia they unveiled in CoroCoro is shiny. See below.

They are trolling us with an alternate color scheme so we can't guess the type.

How to get the evolution: Evolve eevee when shiny. lol.

Anyway, I think not. I think the sparkles are added simply because it's new. I think it's not intended as shiny.

I'd guess that the new eeveelution would become a normal type, being bulky and all.

Something in the translation also led me to believe it is shiny.

Imagine if when they unveiled Espeon they showed us this:

Based solely on that, I would guess Bug or Grass. Psychic would be the farthest thing from my mind.

I think Ninfia is actually just brown like Eevee, and they are trolling us with the shiny coloring.

The more I look at this Pokemon the more I'm starting to think it's not a Normal type...this Pokemon really does seem like a new type...all the clues are pointing to something crazy.

Why would GF hide the evolution method? Why would they hide the type from us?
Perhaps because it's a new type and the way to receive it is also new.
Also if you look closer you can only see it's ribbons are shiny not it's whole body. But I will say this...Ninfia is the brightest colored Eeveelution next to Jolteon. For now though I going to say it's a new type, NOT LIGHT but SOMETHING new, I just don't know what...it's too special to be Normal anymore.

    teenagers?
    team light type?

or on a serious note: pokemon themselves, ala mewtwo. Expanding on the PETA theme, if the pokemon themselves want emancipation, even more moral quandaries (because apparently we love those now) arise. But like with team plasma, if the pokemon go about forcefully liberating pokemon who bond with trainers, you can see how their idealism is corrupted (also like team magma/aqua)

Not sure whether it's noteworthy, or whether it's been mentioned before, but despite Flareon, Glaceon and Jolteon learning "Fang" moves, Ninfia's the only one in this picture with visible fangs.

Although that's admittedly a shot in the dark that could be ultimately worthless to note.

    Garchomp would like a word.

Saluting people who make no good points is just annoying.

I'm all for democracy, but democracy comes with it an obligation to do your homework. If you're not going to... you vote for idiots. If only there was a recent election - say in the last 2 decades or so -where people voted uninformed in such a way that lead to a global recession/depression and cost the lives of millions in unjust, unnecessary wars...

Oh well... without such a counterexample to uninformed voting, let's all vote randomly! I vote Eevee gets 3 different pseudolegendary evolutions this generation, and this generation is compatible with EVERY other generation - so you can import your G1, G2, and G3-5 pokemon to it! Better yet, this generation every pokemon gets to hold 2 items, gets 5 moves, and trick room lasts for 7 turns! YES! Nothing wrong with uninformed voting!

Ok, We're all tired of the light type speculation. But come on. This is a speculation thread. If you're just going to shoot down actual speculation and offer no new ideas of your own, then why are you even here? also this isn't a vote. none of this speculation will have any impact on results. so I'm not sure where the uninformed voting tangent is coming from, but as far as "uninformed" goes, seeing as we're guessing at the FUTURE we're all uninformed. And thats kind of the point. I'm not having a go at you, its just if you really want to stop hearing about light type, then stop arguing with them about it, and start talking about something else.

It is a shame that all speculation has to be in this one thread. I too would like to hear peoples thoughts on new criminal teams, game mechanics, and any other ideas, without having to wade through the endless light type war...

I remember reading in an earlier post how the games could possibly be based on Norse mythology, particulary Yggdrasil the World Tree. According to some of the myths, creatures are said to live within Yggdrasil, including the wyrm Níðhöggr, an unnamed eagle, and the stags Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór. So possibly, Yveltal could resemble the unnamed eagle and Xerneas could be based on the 4 stags that live in this tree.

Now, Im not sure exactly what GameFreak could do with a criminal syndicate if this is the case. However, does anyone else think the criminal team's leader could be based on Loki?

I don't even understand what has just happened here, but I'll have to kindly ask Ivysaurtrainer and everybody else not to bring up old posts on a matter that people have moved on already.

Specially if you are going to quote it in its entirety.

And only add an "I agree" one-liner.

Lol this never occurred to me. But Loki wasn't exactly *bad*, was he? What would be this criminal organization's focus?

But then they killed several types/type combinations with it. If anything stealth rocks should of been the same as spikes, only that it was able to hit flying types.

The super effective bullshit, and the fact that so many mons have access to it screwed the game over for alot of pokemon, and forced people to run rapid spin if they wanted to utilize those types

Game freak was really just trying to stop Salamence and Dragonite, but they could of did something much better

Maybe the whole speculation should be divided into subforums for all the different aspects, like how they've done in the serebii forums..

On the new type speculation, if there was any new type added at all, which current 'mons do we all think would gain one? For example, how magnemite/ton gained steel typing in GSC. One right off the bat could be something like Exploud gaining a possible 'Sound' typing
