Run Away does not allow the Pokemon to switch out of trapping moves or abilities, however it can escape other situational trapping strategies in battle.
Guts: (Innate) This Pokemon is tenacious and will work ever harder when under a status condition, raising the Base Attack Power of all its physical attacks by two (2). Pokemon with Guts ignore the attack drop from burn.
Hustle (DW): (Can be Enabled) This Pokemon puts immense force and speed in its physical attacks, increasing the Base Attack Power of all its physical attacks by three (3), but the haste used lowers their accuracy to 80% of normal.

Forewarn: (Innate) This Pokemon has the ability to sense the opponents super-effective, OHKO, and explosive attacks, and has a percentage (%) chance to evade equal to one (1) plus (+) double (x2) the move's base attack power. This percentage chance (%) is applied to the attacking move's base accuracy.
Dry Skin (DW UNLOCKED): (Innate) This Pokemon has spongy, yet sensitive skin, causing it to burn in bright sunlight for damage but absorb water and heal damaged tissues in rain. This effect results in dealing 2 damage/action to this Pokemon in sunlight and recovering 2 HP/action in rain. In addition, the dry skin is very vulnerable to flames and the Base Attack Power of incoming Fire attacks is increased by 2. 1/26/2012: Perish Song no longer has any effect on pieces outside of an engagement.

Well. What has brought me here... and you're here too? What's happening?
Wait a minute... Mia? Bubba? Safari? Why are you here... and there are...
...
Of course. This can't be real. It's a trick, from that bastard. He's playing with my mind, but why? To what end?
Well, you're on. No mercy.

Dragonite 2 to b5

Sorry about the white space at the bottom; I'll try to avoid having it in the future.

I believe I... understand what the objective of this game is now. I see how the Pokemon move...
But at what cost may this game be? On the off chance that I have been brought here, and the accursed one has somehow duplicated my Pokemon and rearranged my party...
Adrian... Draco... Caesar... where are you? Why am I being thrown into this torrent?
You. Be you a construct, another man, or a figment of my own mind... you will fall. Too much is at stake, both for me and on the ship. I will offer no mercy.

Bishop/Blissey 2 to B7

You are a fool. I have power beyond your ken--power to discern the lies of man, power to tear down the pride of kings. You are not the first I have faced, nor are you the last. Turn tail now; when I defeat you, I will not leave you alive. Agamemnon hungers for your blood: he will not allow your attack on his teammates to stand.

Dragonite Pawn 4 to D5

I'm not sure but I think that pawn you just moved can actually engage my pawn now.

EDIT: Apparently you wanted me to engage your pawn. Well, I have a better idea.

Pawn to d3.

ATTENTION

Something has come to my attention requiring a hotfix.

Queens are no longer allowed to engage pieces that are 'blocked' by another opposing piece.

Carry on.

I'm afraid that it's not going to work that way, my friend. It's time to develop my army--prepare for an onslaught the likes of which mere mortals cannot stand! I pity your Medicham, I truly do; it is too young to die at my hands.

Pawn to e6

This is yet another announcement.

Due to the current speed of the game, the DQ has been cut to Two Days. Both battlers have agreed with this.

Carry on.

So it appears we are locked in an arms race. Someone has to make the first move.

Pawn to c4.

Engage black pawn 4 with white pawn 3

Taunt - Endure - Endeavor
If he uses evasive Agility ...
  • ... on action 1, change your actions to Pursuit - Taunt - Hyper Fang
  • ... on action 3, change action 3 to Pursuit
If he uses Protect on action 1, change your actions to Swords Dance - Combo: Quick Attack + Giga Impact - Cooldown

You idiot. Surely you foresaw this eventuality? Opus is just that, a magnum opus of his race; tremble before his might! Goodbye, Foe Raticate; I apologize that your Trainer could not have done better by you.

Objection chooses to begin a battle, and two of the board's pawns are transported to a smaller chessboard, where a pitched battle commences! The pawn chooses to Taunt the dragon, calling it several names such as (dare I repeat it) poopyhead. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a large red mask with bulbous eyes and huge, red lips comes out of nowhere, and latches on to the Dragonite's face. It shouts:

IMMA FIRIN MAH LAHZOR BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

And it misses.

Completely.

Doesn't even scratch the rat.

The rodent braces for another attack, ready to Endure the hit! However, Danny Night does nothing. Just loafs around. The Raticate puts on a show of Endeavoring for equality, which just wastes time, really. Finally, the Dragonite lands a hit, with a weak, but raging Twister! The two pieces fall back, ready for their next actions. Oh, and the mask just falls off. It shrivels up, too. Kinda pitiful.

Okay, even though the combo missed, (sorry Terra) this engagement showed a couple of small errors I need to make rulings on in Pokechess. Ahem.

If a combo ends an engagement, the user of the combo does not suffer cooldown time at the beginning of its next engagement.

If a move that induces sluggishness ends an engagement, the user of said move suffers sluggishness at the beginning of its next engagement.

Your orders, Terrador.

Hrm. What are the odds. That has revealed a lot: This world must be slanted against me. Surely, a mechanism by the Dark One. Well, guess what. This is not going to stop me. I will be paid in blood for this abomination that I am subjected to... and your veins are a treasury that I look forward to plundering.

Your move, Terrador.

Two things.

One, (9+3+1.5)/2=13.5/2=6.75~7.

Two, why would I be moving into his square? I was defending; I made no attempt to move into his square. Though, while I'm thinking of it, it does make sense for me to have the chance to take his square, being compelled to take it is just buggery.

I remember Ullar saying that after an engagement, the winner moves into the loser's square. Though not explicitly stated, "regardless of who initiated engagement" was implied in that.

Objection is correct. This is to keep with what little 'spirit of chess' we have here. And I will fix that damage shortly. Feel free to move in the meantime.

I made a couple of points that may or may not have swayed Ullar; I imagine that he'll re-think his case and speak with me on IRC at a later date. Until then, I'll refrain from ordering.

Terra did indeed make a good case. Time for ANOTHER ruling on Pokechess.

If the piece that did not begin an engagement wins the engagement, then he has the option to state whether he wants to move to the position of the captured piece. This is necessary for the ref, as he cannot post the altered board until the intention is stated. He or she then may perform their normal movement.

Too many damn rulings. I suppose that IS what Alpha is there for...

Terrador, state whether you desire to move Dragonite to the previous spot of Raticate. I will edit the board accordingly, then play will resume with you moving.

I would not like to move Dragonite to Raticate's square; furthermore, I will take the liberty of editing in the board (and providing flavor which details my slow slip into insanity) after my new move, Nd2.
