glad to be of help, i went there after discovering that playasia wasn't receiving more preorders, now to wait painfully for about 3 weeks :pirate:

if the new evos and their evolution lines comes to 58 pokemon, surely its obvious that the 59th is probably giratina? it wasnt in the sinnohdex in d/p and plays a major part in platinum

Actually, the new EVOs and their lines only add:

Magnezone - 3
Lickilicky - 2
Rhyperior - 3
Tangrowth - 2
Electivire - 3
Magmortar - 3
Togekiss - 3
Tanmega - 2
Leafeon + Glaceon - 8
Gliscor - 2
Mamoswine - 3
Porygon-Z - 3
Gallade - 4
Probopass - 2
Dusknoir - 3
Froslass - 3

49 pokemon. The 58 number must come from adding the legendaries (and Rotom) that weren't originally in the Sinnoh Dex:

Code:
# | id | name
--------------------
1. | 479 | Rotom
2. | 485 | Heatran
3. | 486 | Regigigas
4. | 487 | Giratina
5. | 488 | Cresselia
6. | 489 | Phione
7. | 491 | Darkrai
8. | 492 | Shaymin
9. | 493 | Arceus
The 59th pokemon would then have to be a pokemon from a prior gen with no new evolutions in the 4th gen. Ditto makes the most sense because of the inclusion of Phione in this hypothetical dex.

Sinnoh Dex?

This is the new possible modifications of the new dex in case if nobody saw it posted earlier as I don't really expect someone to read ALL 62 pages of a forum post but whatever. This hasn't been confirmed yet, but it's very possible. The directions below are the ways you can obtain the Pokemon before National Dex.

Chainable Tangela and Swinub? Yes please! I also like the possibility of more variety in some areas, like Eterna Forest and Victory Road. Sp. Attack EV training would be harder with Duskull taking over in Old Chateau, though. :(

My order ships on or before the 16th :(

I just wanted to say something about how Nintendo is only allowing Platinum in the japanese qualifier tournaments for Worlds 09(And will probably only allow Platinum in the US too), but since next years matches will be locally just like this years was, maybe D/P is not compatable locally with Platinum. Since Platinum is having that 20 person room, maybe it is replacing the room that was used to do the local battles on D/P.

And for the people who still think they might not be able to trade with Platinum, you do know that in order to get the regis, you have to trade your Regigigas from D/P to Platinum.

It has to be an event one.

If this's true then awesome =). Having Duskull and Magnemite ~ early in game is cool.

Does anyone have an idea as to whether or not Volkner is still the gym leader of SunnyShore City? That video that shows Volkner and Flint together is giving me second thoughts on whether or not the 8th gym leader is Volkner. It would be cool if SunnyShore City gym was changed into a Fire AND Electric type gym. Maybe this is a double battle gym since DP left that out. I am hoping that Flint and Volkner haven't turn gay on us in Platinum.

I'm pretty sure that was confirmed over a month ago.

Actually, I don't think Volkner and Flint are both gym leaders of Sunnyshore, since it shows you fighting them with your rival in the video. It's probably an event within a new addition to the story.

Nothing about volkner and flint were confirmed.

I was thinking possibly for battle tower battles. If anyone does battles in the BT they would notice that in doubles Palmer doesn't appear. Maybe volkner gets replaced and moves onto the BT or possibly another battle facility.

Im thinking maybe an E4 double battle even? Flint was in the E4 in D/P so it's just spculation...
That would be a first, but the premise of the Elite Four seems to not allow for two people to occupy the same ranking. It just defies logic.

I stand by my guess that it's a late-game challenge opened up by a new story event. This of course can include something in the Battle Frontier, as Jujuomi brought up.

Guys I meant it's confirmed that Volkner left the Sunnyshore gym.

Is this something you're speculating, or has this actually been said? I don't think Volkner fighting with Flint means he left the gym. I can't see how the battle would fit into the storyline, since they're "good guys", maybe its a frontier event. And maybe you're right tytus maybe they moved on to the frontier or something... I dunno

Oh, I might be mistaken then. I thought I read on Serebii, like wayyy back when the first Platinum news even came out, that Volkner had left the gym. I'll go research.

Edit: Ok so the deal is the whole Volkner thing was a rumor from way back in May lol.
From Serebii:
Third Game - RUMOUR In the run up to Thursday's CoroCoro release, info is likely to be leaked. As such, the japanese blog, blue skY, a blog that got some info right prior to DP's release (also got some stuff wrong), has reported some new info said to be from CoroCoro. It's entirely possible that this is not true, especially as they themselves cast some doubt upon it, but here's the info as you do have a right to know:

  • [*]Pokémon Platinum, set for September release. Giratina on the box
[*]Volkner no longer gym leader of Sunyshore City
[*]The Underground is now Wi-Fi enabled
[*]An island called Battle Island, works in the same manner as the Battle Frontier
[*]Several new Pokémon 'forms' exist in the game; Giratina's Origin Form, Regigigas' Sky Form, Shaymin's Another Form
Edit @ 13:56 BST: Thanks to slowkingsley on the forums, we have some further info regarding these translated. Giratina & Regigigas' new forms are said to be able to get the Levitate ability and Shaymin's Another form may be at least part Ice Type
As stated before THIS IS NOT 100% CONFIRMED. The actual scans of the third game will come at some point during the week and we'll always have up to the minute coverage so be sure to keep checking back
Well they got two thing right at least :/

Seeing as the tc hasnt updated since May 17th, anyone wanna consider compiling all the new info into a new topic by any chance?

My order ships on or before the 16th :(

I just wanted to say something about how Nintendo is only allowing Platinum in the japanese qualifier tournaments for Worlds 09(And will probably only allow Platinum in the US too), but since next years matches will be locally just like this years was, maybe D/P is not compatable locally with Platinum. Since Platinum is having that 20 person room, maybe it is replacing the room that was used to do the local battles on D/P.
Just to clarify, all the compatibility issues have been speculation up to this point, correct? Somebody in the troll thread mentioned that it was confirmed but I've yet to see a link (granted, I haven't been following the Platinum news very carefully).

And a mod could always edit the first post instead of starting a brand new thread. It would be greatly appreciated by those of us who haven't been following this thread from day one and aren't willing to peruse through 1500+ posts to find the nuggets of info.

In order to get the regis you have to trade the event regigigas, so you do the math
