this little bathroom duck was certainly a bulky special attacker, with its decent bulk of 85-90-95. In 5th gen, Porygon2 gained Evolite, which gave instant +1 bonus to its defensive stats, making it one of bulkiest mons in entire pokemon. with h252 investment, evolite porygon has 3rd highest hp*(def+spdef). top 2 is pink blobs,as you can see. Even exceeding Cresselia. It has defensive capability of h252 b252 gliscor and sp.defensive of latias Porygon2 can... -spread paralysis all over the opposing team. -counter all dragons with ice beam. while this can absorb hits with superior bulk and recover. -absorb hits not named STAB 'close combat', 'high jump kick'. -set up in front of anything that doesn't run stab or sw dance+fighting move. Lets get down to specifics. Bulky Staller P2 (♥♥♥♡) Porygon2 @ Eviolite Trait: Trace EVs: 244 HP / 60 Def / 92 SAtk /84 SDef / 28 Spd Calm Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Thunderbolt - Ice Beam - Toxic - Recover To explain the movesets, toxic is obvious choice for any stalls, who want to let opponent succumb to it. Boltbeam gets coverage, specially to dragons. Recover is our choice of recovery. In EVs, S28 outspeeds S12 ttar(base 61), C92 2hkos latios with ice beam, h244 minimize weather damage while maximizing the overall bulk. D84 ensures 3hkos from modest C252 politoed hydropump/timid C252 kingdra hp under Rain. Survives 2 hits from timid specs C252 latios draco meteor. Also 3hko with timid C25 gengar focus blast B60 ensures 3hko from jolly A252 haxorus outrage. 84% 3hko from jolly A252 arcanine close combat. This shows you what Porygon can do. 3hko means nothing because it has access to recover. Also, dealing considerable damage to anything weak to Electric/Ice with base 105 special attack. Next Set is my favorite style of P2. Stall/Sweeper (♥♥♥♥♥) Porygon2 @ Eviolite Trait: Trace EVs: 244 HP / 152 Def / 28 SAtk / 84 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Charge Beam - Ice Beam - Thunder Wave - Recover this is more focused on setting up and sweeping all alone. Charge beam spares Spa investments, while thunder wave let you outspeed even the fastest of pokemon. First step is to paralyse anything in front of it. this set lets P2 live through some stab close combats, so don't worry. then fire charge beam/recover. +1~+2 will do. the reason why I use porygon over blissy/chansey is not just its superior physical bulk, but its ability to sweep. Charge beam makes it consistently stronger while inflicting damage, ice beam hits dragons, gliscor, breloom and Therians. Paralysing let P2 attack first, which means you can instantly recover after twave, and attack them while they can't move. P2 has various usage, TR, gravity, trace-simple setups... these are the most commonly usable forms in ou. Teammates I recommend Espeon. Bounce off entry hazards, heals/reflects toxic, dual screen, possibly BPing CM. And resistance to fighting is good. HP-fire from base 130 SAtk is good enough to ohko scizor and with more investments, 1~2 hko mamoswine. both of them using superpower. Also, Espeon 1~2hkos almost all fighting types except scrafty while surviving hits using reflect. Xatu could be a good choice, but it lacks heal bell. 4x resistance to fighting is good. Porygon is a stall against Attackers that doesn't normally use fighting type. Such as gyarados, dragons and etc. while fighting against stalls is okay for the first set, second set is not meant for that. porygon is susceptible to status aliments, so avoid stalls. Especially the pink blobs. This is why I recommend Espeon. which can CM-psyshock them. Download may work for more offensive sets, but Trace is ideal for defensive sets. Trace may copy Poison heal, Multiscale, Flash fire, Magic Bounce, Volt absorb, Prankster etc. thunderous-t, dragonite, gliscor, skarmory, heatran, chandelure, lanturn, jellycent suffer from Trace. While download lets P2 work as hard-hitting and bulky special attacker. giving instant +1 bonus. This is pretty much it. I don't understand why everybody considers Porygon a UU or lesser. But this is one of the largest defensive and offensive threats in the metagame.
