Two trainers, seeking to train their Pokémon for brighter futures meet, and do battle in this crystal, serene pond...

Also, looking for a battle from whoever wants it

1v1 Singles
3 day DQ
2 recovers/3 chills

Arena: A large pond, with a bit of land in the middle. The island isn't big enough to do a lot of battling but it's enough to stand on comfortably. Moves such as Dig, Earthquake, etc are not usable in this arena.

I'm going to be using Poliwhirl because I want to use him in Subway but he's only at 4/5 DC right now. Feel free to use whatever but a fair fight would be nice :toast:
Accepting this, Kirlia should do nicely.

Damp (innate): This Pokemon releases a damp mist upon entry into battle that short circuits the opponent’s ability to use Selfdestruct or Explosion.
Swift Swim (DW) (innate): The Pokemon with this ability moves extremely fast is slick, rainy conditions, doubling (x2) its speed in the rain.

Type: Psychic
Psychic: Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic attacks regardless of weight difference. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Abilities:
Trace: (Can be Activated) This Pokemon can copy an ability of the opponent and replace Trace for six (6) actions. Wonder Guard cannot be Traced.
Synchronize: (Innate) Pokemon with this ability mentally link their condition to an opposing Pokemon and pass on any status inflicted on them to their foe. Due to their body structure, Poison types cannot be poisoned and Fire types cannot be burned in this manner.
Telepathy (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon has a mental link with its allies in multiple allies, allowing it to avoid taking damage from attacks that affect the whole field like Earthquake and Surf.

Instinct tells me to bet on the Kirlia's SE attacks, but hey, Poliwhirl has the home field advantage. Flamestrike, your orders please, as we already know what you're both using.

Brandon stood at the edge of the pond, releasing Mindstrike onto the island in the middle. Seeing porygon3's Poliwhirl, he started off the battle. "OK Mindstrike, lead off with a Taunt to stop it from using any tricky moves, then go for a Will-O-Wisp! Finish off with a Thunderbolt! If he tries to dive under the water use a Psychic to pull him back onto the island, then continue where you left off!"

Summary:
Taunt -> Will-O-Wisp -> Thunderbolt

Replace any action with Psychic to pull him back to the island if he tries to go underwater, but push the remaining actions down rather than dropping the first action. For example if he tries to go underwater action one it should be Psychic -> Taunt -> Will-O-Wisp

Alright Frogger, he's trying to play rough, so let's do the same thing. Start out with a Double Team, creating two clones to try to avoid some of these attacks. Then hit him with a Hydro Pump, and then let's try to freeze some of the water stuck on him from that attack with an Ice Beam!

Double Team (2 clones) - Hydro Pump - Ice Beam

Also, try to make sure you're on the island if possible during the Thunderbolt, you never know what might happen if you're in the water

Frogger (Water Absorb+Damp)
HP: 90
Energy: 100
Speed: 90
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Fine
Actions: Double Team (2 clones) - Hydro Pump - Ice Beam

Mindstrike (Synchronise+Trace)
HP: 90
Energy: 100
Speed: 43
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Fine
Actions: Taunt -> Will-O-Wisp -> Thunderbolt
Replace any action with Psychic to pull him back to the island if he tries to go underwater, but push the remaining actions down rather than dropping the first action.

And the battle begins, with Frogger splitting in three! He's created two clones, unbelievable! Mindstrike looks slightly bewildered by this action, and starts cursing Frogger out, calling him out on this "hallucinogenic bullcrap". Frogger responds by creating a massive amount of water internally, and firing it at Mindstrike as a highly pressurised jet! That's GOT to sting. Mindstrike is pushed back to the edge of the island, but not into the water. He creates a small flame in his hands to try and incapacitate the real Frogger, and shoots for the one in the middle... But it's a clone! Sorry Flamestrike, the RNG is a cruel mistress. Knowing the pain of the cold, heartless mistress of the RNG, Frogger decides not to push his luck with a second Hydro Pump, and goes for a more basic Ice Beam. The coldness does not compare to the RNG, but it still bites. Such is life. Kirlia decides to heat things up a bit with a Thunderbolt, and fires it at the Frogger to his right... But it's a clone!

This round went well for Frogger, he evaded damage, status, and got to deal a bit of damage. But with his Double Team gone, and him being Taunted, don't count Mindstrike out yet folks!

Calcs:
Poliwhirl used Double Team (2 clones, 8 energy)
Kirlia used Taunt (10 energy)
Poliwhirl used Hydro Pump (17 damage, 7 energy)
Kirlia used Will-o-Wisp (7 energy)
Poliwhirl used Ice Beam (12 damage, 7 energy)
Kirlia used Thunderbolt (7 energy)

Frogger (Water Absorb+Damp)
HP: 90
Energy: 78
Speed: 90
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Fine

Mindstrike (Synchronise+Trace)
HP: 71
Energy: 76
Speed: 43
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Fine

Well, those attacks worked out pretty well, and there's not much else to do besides attack, so you should probably just do that some more. Let's hope for a little more good luck with another Hydro Pump, then hit him with another Ice Beam. Finish up with a Bubblebeam, since we don't want to completely rely on luck here !!

"Alright Mindstrike, the first thing you need to do is Teleport to the center of the island! You're getting close to the water and if we end up in there we're in big trouble! If you can dodge the Hydro Pump with it as well that's great but your priority is getting to the center! Next try to fry him with another Thunderbolt, then finish off with a Psychic! Residual damage won't help us much right now, we need to even the score!"

Summary:
Teleport to center -> Thunderbolt -> Psychic

Frogger (Water Absorb+Damp)
HP: 90
Energy: 78
Speed: 90
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Taunted for four actions
Actions: Hydro Pump >>> Ice Beam >>> Bubblebeam

Mindstrike (Synchronise+Trace)
HP: 71
Energy: 76
Speed: 43
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Fine
Actions: Teleport to center -> Thunderbolt -> Psychic

Round two begins with Frogger generating another blast of water. Aware that if he falls into the pond, he's in big trouble, Mindstrike teleports approximately 6 metres to the centre of the island, only to get blasted by the Hydro Pump! Frogger follows up with a quick Ice Beam, and now Kirlia's thinking "Shit." He goes for a Thunderbolt in retaliation, and Frogger winces in pain, but he's ok to fire off a stream of bubbles, that... somehow... damages... Mindstrike... As they explode on contact, OOOOOOOOOOOH, OK. That makes absolutely no sense, but it's Pokémon, let's roll with it. Mindstrike finishes the round by lifting Frogger into the air, and bouncing him off the ground like an amphibious basketball! Wow, that can't be fun..

Note: I estimated the size of the island at about 12 metres wide. Any objections?

Calcs:
Poliwhirl used Hydro Pump (17 damage, 7 energy)
Kirlia used Teleport (9 energy)
Poliwhirl used Ice Beam (12 damage, 7 energy)
Kirlia used Thunderbolt (17 damage, 7 energy)
Poliwhirl used BubbleBeam (9 damage, 4 energy)
Kirlia used Psychic (11 damage, 6 energy)

Frogger (Water Absorb+Damp)
HP: 62
Energy: 60
Speed: 90
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Taunted for one action

Mindstrike (Synchronise+Trace)
HP: 33
Energy: 54
Speed: 43
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Fine

"Alright Mindstrike, let's go out swinging! Thunderbolt, then Psychic, and then a final Thunderbolt if you're still standing! Sorry I didn't get you to disable Hydro Pump last round, that was my mistake."

Summary:
Thunderbolt -> Psychic -> Thunderbolt

Well Frogger, it doesn't look like you need to do anything fancy here. A simple Ice Beam - Bubblebeam - Ice Beam should be enough to finish this battle!

Frogger (Water Absorb+Damp)
HP: 62
Energy: 60
Speed: 90
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Taunted for one action
Actions: Ice Beam - Bubblebeam - Ice Beam

Mindstrike (Synchronise+Trace)
HP: 33
Energy: 54
Speed: 43
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Fine
Actions: Thunderbolt -> Psychic -> Thunderbolt

Now the battlers just decide to slug it out to decide supremacy. An Ice Beam and a Thunderbolt fly over each other, and blast their opponents in the chest. Both Pokémon seem weary now, but Frogger fires off another stream of explosive bubbles into Mindstrike's joints, and the Kirlia bounces Frogger around for a while. But as Frogger ends it with one final Ice Beam, the Kirlia's efforts seem to have been for naught. That's that! Down to zero exactly.

Calcs:
Poliwhirl used Ice Beam (12 damage, 7 energy)
Kirlia used Thunderbolt (17 damage, 7 energy)
Poliwhirl used BubbleBeam (9 damage, 4 energy)
Kirlia used Psychic (11 damage, 6 energy)
Poliwhirl used Ice Beam (12 damage, 7 energy)

Frogger (Water Absorb+Damp)
HP: 34
Energy: 42
Speed: 90
Boosts/Drops: 0
Status: Fine

Mindstrike (Synchronise+Trace)
HP: KO

I get 2 RC.

Porygon3 and Flamestrike get 2 TC.

Frogger gains 1 EC, 2 MC, 1 DC (now go get your DrizzleToed) and 1 KO counter.

Mindstrike gains 1 EC, 2 MC, 1 DC.

Great game guys!
