I have a question:

Are there "original" productions as far as anime is concerned? I'm kind of tired of the generic "girl-with-glaring-eyes and generic-battle-skills" trend going on before and after Shagugan no Shana.

OH by the way, I'm into Higurashi no Naku Koro ni anime productions, even though it was made years ago, and that got me into Umineko no Naku Koro ni Witch Hunt VNs, which most of you might now know about.

I'm not too big on anime but I do like Bleach and Death Note
(DN wasn't nearly as good after L died, though).

I never gotten into bleach, along with one piece and naruto, they always striked me as typical lame fighting anime. You know the ones where characters are able to jump 20 stories high and they talk forever whenever in a battle. Just an opinion.

For me, FLCL fits me well. Coming of age + giant robots and the animation is pretty funky.

It really annoys me that I cannot find subbed episodes of G Gundam anywhere on the internet.

I might just bite the bullet and buy the dvd set for 50 dollars.

Cowboy Bebop doesn't fit that generic trope (although space western is not uncommon; Cowboy Bebop just happens to be a great example).

Hellsing, too, escapes that (I'd just go with the OVA, not the original).

Fullmetal Alchemist (Either series).

I haven't watched as much anime as I want to, but I really liked Baccano!, Welcome to the NHK, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Uh... guys... REBORN much? Seriously, we need some reborn running around, I mean, Fairy tale and shit is cool, but REBORN FOREVER, cause we all love Byakuran and Gokudera... DON'T WE?!?!?!?!

Death Note is incredible, and stupid Animax cut it off in my country exactly during the week they were gonna play the final chapter -.- So I couldn't watch it, yeah, but I already know what happens. One annoying thing though, is how overly exaggerated some scenes are lol. Like when Light gets all his memories of the Death Note back. I was honestly laughing when I watched that chapter.

Some other things that pop to mind are animes like Naruto, Fate/Stay Night, and Blood+. Although I don't really watch the last 2, the few chapters I've watched tell me they're very good.

Favorite anime of all time has always been Cowboy Bebop. Very non mainstream but still action packed and the like. It's the one anime that I know people who hate anime enjoy.

Other than that I do read the mangas for most of the mainstream Jump stuff as well as some completed series. Naruto, Bleach, Eyeshield 21, Death Note, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bakuman, etc.

Death Note was good, but after a bit, I got over the whole "DN is amazing so good omigosh" type of mindset. If you like Death Note and you don't mind reading manga, I'd suggest Liar Game though. The twists are similar but much more complicated/mindblowing in Liar Game.

I used to watch Pokemon and Yugioh before school. My cousin loved Sailor Moon when she was younger, so I've had to sit through bits of that. One of my house mates at uni made me watch Love Hina... which just struck me as some kind of weird soft porn. I have seen the odd episode of Naruto, but basic story arcs seem to take about 10 episodes to play out.

Zoids and Claymore are the only two animes that I have watched in their entirety. The former was okay I guess and, aside from the ridiculous ending, the latter was a pleasant surprise in that I rather enjoyed it.

I'm gonna agree with the general sentiment that Death Note was amazing for the first 26 episodes, then it went to shit. However, the last 10 or whatever episodes were so goddamn bad that they almost ruined the series for me. Near was a fucking terrible character. In a show where all of the main characters are geniuses and magically know everything, Near was so over the top in magically knowing everything that it was just terrible. I mean he looked at a fucking TV for 4 seconds and figured out some ridiculous detail about Light, it was just stupid idk. And jesus christ the ending

I know that Light had to die in the end but losing because of someone else's mistake was so infuriating after an entire 36 episodes of perfect planning. I can understand if he messed up somewhere and they got him because of that, but because of someone else making a mistake after he plans everything out perfectly again was stupid and terrible and FUCK the episodes were so bad. And also how the fuck are they going to break into a safety deposit box or whatever in a fucking bank.

anyway, those were some words about anime

For fans of the first half of Death Note, I strongly recommend the recent television miniseries "Sherlock" set in present-day London, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. It was excellent, despite non-anime.

I'm not too familiar with a lot of anime, but I do like some. I like the typical well known stuff like Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and Tenchi Muyo!

How the shit did you enjoy Elfen Lied. It had the retarded theme of the segregation, discrimination, and all that put in in a shitty way, characters were horrible, and the entire storyline just idiotic. Sorry, I did not enjoy that anime. I put it on par with NGE.

So basically, you're putting it on par with something great that a whole bunch of people liked? Cool with me.

Anyways, currently watching Highschool of the Dead, or was currently watching. Finished Season 1 a few days back. Started watching Bakuman's Season 1.

Bakuman, for the Death Note fans in here, was written and drawn by Ohba Tsugumi and Obata Takeshi, two names you should know, considering they wrote and drew Death Note.

Haven't been keeping up with new anime since school started... Any new ones from the fall onwards you would recommend? I heard The World Only God Knows is worth picking up.

My favorite:

I also like High School of Dead, Shurato, Rurouni Kenshin, Saint Seya, (Hamtaro), FMA, Dragon Ball and others.

About Death Note, by the moment that Sayu is kidnapped, the anime turns as a shit. Not even Teru made that thing be good again.

Keroro Gunso (Sgt. Frog), Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, One Piece, Hellsing.

Yup. o:

EDIT: Almost forgot. All Gainax and Osamu Tezuka works.

How about the new movie
UBW movie is mildly enjoyable on its own but overall a poor adaption of the game's route. Most of the major fights are included but tons of stuff is skipped/glazed over and the final battle in particular is botched horribly.

The adaption of the Fate route on the other hand isn't that much worse than the game.
