Well, here we go. Deadline for these matches is January 8th, 11:59.
Well, the primary objective of this thread is to tes Ho-oh for OU, and here are a few observations I'm going to make here and now:
Needs incredibly heavy Rapid Spin support, or it dies unbelievably fast. Seriously, you will need at least 2 Rapid Spinners, because DP metagame spams SR.
Beware of Stone Edge on random switch ins. So many DP pokemon carry Stone Edge, it isn't funny. Which is why a Subcario stopped a Ho-oh on one of the logs. (roflcopter)
Stay as far away from Cresselia as possible. Cressy stalls Ho-oh to death.
Beware random Roar/Whirlwinders, who can switch Ho-oh into premature death.
Always have something that can take Ghosts out, or you will be SpinBlocked, and killed, unable to switch Ho-oh in.
Sunny Day Ho-oh variants fail big time. They basically say, gg, Heatran, I'mma gonna use Solar Beam or Sacred Fire, you can switch in on both of those and use a free Sunny Day, come on in and rape me!
BTW, look out for Heatran in general. Unless it comes in on EQ, it will always do some mighty big damage to a wounded Ho-oh, and loves the Fire type boost from random fire moves.
Ho-oh leads are not a good idea. They tend to get beaten up by every fast lead in the galaxy.
Rules:
OU Teams (With slight modifications)
No Scouting (You may NOT watch other Tourney battles)
Evasion Clause
Freeze Clause
OHKO Clause
Sleep Clause
Species Clause
Timed Battle
All Logs MUST be PMed to me afterwards.
The Special Rule:
Half of you can use Ho-oh. You know who you are. The other, can't. Exactly 24 of you may use Ho-oh if you wish. If you haven't be PMed saying you can use Ho-oh within the next hour (of this being posted), you can't use it. Even if you have permission, you don't HAVE to use it.
So, when building your team, take Ho-oh into account. (hence the "Rainbow" tourney)
Banned Pokemon:
Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Groudon, Kyogre, Deoxys Speed, Deoxys Attack, Deoxys Defense, Deoxys Normal, Rayquaza, Latias, Latios, Wobuffet, Wynaut*, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Dakrai, Manaphy, Arceus.
Yeah. That was basically for all those people who missed the OU Battles in the Rules section. Always pays to make sure everyone understands.
(*As the current policy on NFEs who are not distinctly different from their evolution is that they go in the same tier as their evolution, Wynaut is banned. Sorry, Wynaut fans)
