OK we kinda got a standard going in the other thread with the help of Jellicent. Here's the post for those that missed it.

Ember
- Flamethrower is a more powerful version of this move
- Fire Blast is a less accurate but more powerful alternative
- Lava Plume is a more powerful version with a higher chance to burn

U-turn
- Volt Switch is an Electric-type equivalent

Assurance
- Payback has the same Base Power, but its power doubles if the opponent moves first
- Crunch is a more powerful alternative with a chance of lowering the opponent's Defense

Avalanche
- Revenge is a Fighting-type equivalent
- Ice Punch is a more powerful alternative with normal priority and a chance to freeze
- Icicle Crash is an even more powerful alternative with normal priority and a chance to flinch, but lower accuracy
- Payback is a similar Dark-type attack with normal priority and lower Base Power
So basically, here's how those entries will look in the SCMS:

Related Moves

Flamethrower is a more powerful version of this move.

Fire Blast is a less accurate but more powerful alternative.

Lava Plume is a more powerful version with a higher chance to burn.

If a move has no related moves, leave the section blank.

Basically, reserve which moves you want to do, and I, bmb, or one of our helpers will look them over and upload them.

If an entry is fine as is onsite, you do not need to fill it out, simply say in your post that it's fine. However, if something needs to be deleted or added, be sure to post that here.

EDIT: also, you should be linking to all of the moves in the section.

So the Volt Switch example should look like:

Volt Switch is an Electric-type equivalent.

notice the underscore for the space between the two words of volt switch

Here are some more concrete ground rules to follow when doing entries:

Only list equivalents if the side effect is 30% or greater (ie. the burn chance of Scald), and/or the side effect is the reason why the move is used. So in this case, we wouldn't list Bug Buzz, Psychic, and Earth Power as equivalents. This is because if someone is looking at our move pages, like at Bug Buzz, knowing that Psychic is an equivalent doesn't tell them really anything at all. Plus, nobody is using Bug Buzz for the 10% Special Defense drop, they're using it as special Bug STAB. Whereas a move like Scald, they're probably using it for its burn chance, same with Lava Plume.

Further, even though Brave Bird and Wood Hammer inflict recoil and have the same Base Power, nobody uses the moves for the recoil damage. They are used as strong STAB moves. Therefore, they shouldn't be listed as related moves.

Don't list weaker moves as alternatives for stronger/better moves. ie. don't list Mud Shot or Mud Bomb as alternatives to Earth Power, since Earth Power is the best special Ground-type move. However, if there is a weaker move that offers advantages over the stronger one, it should be listed, such as Drill Peck to Brave Bird (lack of recoil) as well as Surf to Hydro Pump (better accuracy).

If a move were to be used as a STAB move in battle, and there is a better alternative, list it. This is the case for something like Echoed Voice and False Swipe. There aren't any moves that have the same effect as those two, but in a competitive environment, they would probably be used as STAB moves. Therefore, Hyper Voice and Return should be listed as alternatives, respectively.

Only list competitive alternatives. Even though there are a ton of moves that are stronger than Tackle and have uses, the only ones really worth considering over Tackle are Return and Double-Edge.

So dragonboy, for example ViceGrip:

The only moves that should be listed as alternatives are Return and Double-Edge.

Frustration doesn't need to be listed if Return is, ExtremeSpeed is used as a priority move most commonly, Facade is rare at best and normally uncompetitive, Double-Edge is more popular than Head Charge (it's only seen on Bouffalant), and Take Down is uncompetitive.

Update:

I went through all the H, S, and T moves and added the necessary sections on-site. I believe Oglemi added DittoCrow's L moves.

So everything in the OP is done!

Now, I admit that I haven't been keeping as close an eye on this as I should have been, and as such I can't say for certain that we've put related moves sections on everything. So I'll have to check.

Anyway, once I've had a rest I'll see where we go from here. Cheerio.

Yeah so unbeknownst to me, when I made that last post bmb was already slaving away doing the last few related moves entries himself directly through the SCMS.

So, I think we're done here, afaik anyway.

We're going to be doing a sweep through all of the entries to see if we missed any soon, but I think for the most part this thread has served its purpose.

Thanks to all those that contributed, and sorry pokemon and Nix for cockblocking you half way through your work on this last spot!

We'll update you later on what's the next step in this project.

EDIT: In the meantime, if you catch any errors or find that sections are missing, please post in the massive Items thread, or in the Small Changes thread should the error fit under its description. Thanks again!
