Rock Origins said:
You strode confidently towards the rock henge, and crossed the threshold into the barren, gravelly, sacred ground. The henge is already glowing, and you find yourself looking at some Unown formes previously unseen of. Wait, these are-

"Kanji Unown, yes."

Raising an eyebrow, you turned back at the Gym Leader standing in front of you.

"And they're the source of your team's strengths, Wukong?"

"Of course. I've heard a lot about you challenger, still not a girl and all..... Anyway, I'm not gonna hold back on you. Welcome, to Rock Origins, the Gym."

Format
  • 5 vs 5 Doubles, GL B8P5
  • 96-hour DQ (once someone goes over that, I'll usually leave a VM asking them to look at it. If their recent activity is twice over the time, a straight no-warning DQ may be requested by opponent)
  • 2 Abilities
  • 2/5 Recoveries/Chills
  • 7 Substitutions per round (excluding KO subs of course)
  • 0 Mega-Evolutions
  • Switch = OK
  • Items = ALL
  • Turn Order = COIN FLIP
Arena mechanics
  1. Naturally Rock-type Pokemons get Sticky Hold.
  2. All Rock-types get Solid Rock and Rock Head in addition, if they don't already have it.
  3. In Sandstorms, all attacks against Rock-types also suffer -2 BAP, instead of just Special Attacks.
  4. All defensive moves listed under Rock STAB gain +4 Priority instead of the original +1. Pokemons whose primary STAB is Rock-type automatically gain knowledge of all moves listed in the STAB description, except Multi-target, Priority, or Damaging moves (Exclusion lists: Detect, Quick Guard, Wide Guard, Light Screen, Reflect, Skull Bash).
  5. No external rock, water, or grass sources.
  6. No seismic combos allowed.
  7. Camouflage turns user into Rock-type, Nature Power calls Ancient Power, and Secret Power lowers Speed by one (1) stage.
Leader ZhengTann
Stratagem - Erza (U)

A swordsman wields the blade with graceful precision, just as Erza uses her attacks with dangerous beauty. She walked in on one of Gray and Natsu’s brawls, and the resulting free-for-all wore on for half a day before Zheng can subdue her with a Pokeball. Unknowingly for her, that fight left a lasting impression on the two – they’re cautious almost to the point of fearful whenever in her company since then. Wendy and Charla looks up to her as a role model, though, and it was Erza who took care of them, even though she was newer to the family.

Chargestone Cave is the hallowed ground for all of Erza's ancestry, yet she decides that she will withhold her instincts to evolve for the sake of her family. Small but close-knit, everyone looks up to Erza as the big sister, even though her quirks with boys sometimes astonished the girls and make the shy ones (like Juvia and Wendy) blush. After a series of long, drawn out clashes with Mirajane, both of them seemed to have settled to a cordial relationship, mutually agreeing to avoid mentioning the past conflicts, opting instead to look after the girls together and knock the boys down a peg or two when they get too loud.

It wasn't until the strawberry cake event that Erza finally found the courage to overcome her fear. The truth was, she was scared of shouldering her responsibility being a full-grown Stratagem, relying more and more on the rest of the family despite the lads' deferment to her leadership and skills. Resolving to do whatever it takes to protect herself and those around her, she secretly learn how to manipulate the nature from Mirajane, and the two became very fast friends. Although, Mirajane seems to have picked up some of Erza's racy quirks as well...

Nature: Modest (+1 SpA, -1 Atk)

Type:
Rock type: Rock STAB; Adds an additional level of Priority (+0 to +1, +3 to +4 etc.) on naturally occurring level-up, egg, tutor, or TM attacks that increase only defense, special defense, or prevent damage (Full list: Acid Armor, Amnesia, Barrier, Defense Curl, Detect, Fast Guard, Harden, Iron Defense, Light Screen, Protect, Reflect, Skull Bash, Stockpile, Wide Guard, Withdraw). Reduced damage from all special attacks by 2 BAP during Sandstorm, immune to Sandstorm damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Levitate
Type: Passive
This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the all seismic moves. Earth Power will have 3 less BAP. Dig and Dive can still strike a Levitating Pokemon, but only if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Other Ground moves can still hit.

Ability 2: Technician
Type: Passive
This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their attacks that normally deal 6 or below base damage to have their base damage multiplied by 1.5. The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) damage, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2).

Ability 3: Mold Breaker (Unlocked)
Type: Passive
Whenever this Pokemon attacks, it emits an invisible, blindingly quick pulse preceding the attack that disables the opponents natural abilities (e.g. Levitators plummet towards the ground before Earthquake hits, Volt Absorb will not absorb electric attacks, Clear Body does not prevent stat-drops, etc.)

Armaldo - Pantherlily (M)

Gajeel was the one who found Pantherlily's Claw Fossil discarded at the entrance of a mine. Seeing the Murkrow's penchant for it, Zheng decided to go to the nearest archaeological lab and revive it. Pantherlily and Gajeel have been quite attached to each other ever since. They share the same camaraderie towards each other as Natsu and Gray, but at least they didn't have the head-splitting rivalry that the other pair always do. Often after a training session, Gajeel would take Pantherlily up for flight trips, while the latter demonstrates the pleasure of submersion in water. The rest of the family often help Pantherlily too, since he's still much less comfortable on terrestrial environment - Wendy loved piggybacking him and Charla together, while the latter doesn't mind that much.

Pantherlily's much larger size now meant that he would no longer be the protected fossiling now, but a respected fighter in his own right. Swinging his claws with the strength of a shield bash, Pantherlily trains everyday by felling trees for firewood and clearing debris around the monastery backyard. Often in the evenings, the only sounds there are the rustling of his claws as no fallen leaf ever touches the ground.

Rias Gremory, "Princess of Crimson Ruin" - Tyrantrum (F)

Rias is born to a rare family - one in which both her parents were present to take care of her. Before her, they already had a son - who grew up, evolved, and went away to stake his own territory. Being the younger "princess", Rias enjoyed all the privileges - and hardships - that her life as a future empress has to offer, before a cataclysm caused the death of herself and her whole family millions of years before the time of humans.

Being resurrected by Zheng, she is given to and named by Tanner as her Trainer, who somehow also hold another Jaw Fossil that can't be revived - probably because the piece held remnants of both her parents. It is rumoured that Rias' brother walks the earth again this same era that she does, however Rias does not know where to find him.

Evolving into her grown form, Rias still continues the search for her brother. And then she met Issei, then a young Charmander who knew nothing much about the world except the fire in his belly.... Who is just one of her "peerage" of Pokemons, each with stories of their own. She decides that it is high time she declared herself King, and she readies herself for the challenges of her very own monarchy by training relentlessly.

Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk) - caring but stern

Type:
Rock type: Rock STAB; Rias is fast on her mind to add an additional level of Priority on Protect. She also takes reduced damage from all special attacks by two (2) Base Attack Power during Sandstorm, and is immune to Sandstorm damage. Her natural magic can mold and build rocks, ignoring Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.
Dragon type: Dragon STAB; -1 BAP on incoming neutral attacks Dragon itself would resist. Her powerful will allows Thrash or Outrage to be undisrupted by oncoming damage.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Strong Jaw
Type: Passive
Rias' thick fang and massive jaws give her incredibly powerful biting attacks, increasing the BAP of all biting attacks by three (3) BAP. Full List: Bite, Crunch, Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Poison Fang, Thunder Fang.

Ability 2: Rock Head (Unlocked)
Type: Passive
Rias' body and willpower fortifies herself in battle, preventing it from taking recoil damage from moves such as Double-Edge, Flare Blitz, and Head Smash.

Vali Lucifer, "White Dragon Emperor" - Aerodactyl (M)

Born to a lineage of Aerodactyl, with lineages going back as far as time immemorial, Vali was one of the few exceptional case born with great potential. But only one of them. And so he struggled to rise far and above those before it, with the competitive spirit beyond what most would even comprehend. He would use every bit of strength at his disposal just to further his training, and to beat every strong opponent that not just stood in his way, but also those he actively seek out. I object to abusing Luvdiscs to determine who orders first.

"Strike hard?"

"And strike true."
Pantherlily (Armaldo w/ Claw Fossil) and Rias Gremory (Tyrantrum w/ Jaw Fossil) to lead.

Pantherlily (Armaldo w/ Claw Fossil): Rock Slide > Rock Slide > Rock Slide
IF Pantherlily-Armaldo is under the effects of Torment, THEN replace the remaining action queue with Knock Off > X-Scissor, both @ Rankurusu-Reuniclus.
IF Trick Room is in effect AND a synchronised Earthquake is possible, THEN replace that action with Earthquake (synchronised) instead.
IF both Rankurusu-Reuniclus AND Haganeiru-Steelix are under the effects of Protective/Evasive moves, THEN replace that action with Swords Dance instead.

Rias Gremory (Tyrantrum w/ Jaw Fossil): Rock Slide > Rock Slide > Rock Slide
IF Pantherlily-Armaldo is under the effects of Torment, THEN replace the remaining action queue with Crunch > Head Smash, both @ Rankurusu-Reuniclus.
IF Trick Room is in effect AND a synchronised Earthquake is possible, THEN replace that action with Earthquake (synchronised) instead.
IF both Rankurusu-Reuniclus AND Haganeiru-Steelix are under the effects of Protective/Evasive moves, THEN replace the first instance with Stealth Rock, and the second instance with Chill instead.
IF Haganeiru-Steelix used Bide A1 AND had NOT flinched in both A1 AND A2, THEN replace A3 with Protect instead.

Steelix: Gyro Ball (Armaldo) ~ Iron Head (Armaldo) ~ Gyro Ball (Armaldo)
IF (you flinch a1) AND (Reuniclus does not flinch a1) THEN (use Gyro Ball+Giga Impact (Armaldo) a2)

Reuniclus: Imprison (Rock Slide/Protect/Knock Off) ~ Gyro Ball (Armaldo) ~ Gyro Ball (Armaldo)
IF (you flinch a1 and a2) THEN (use Trick Room a3)
IF (you flinch a1) THEN (push actions back)
IF (Steelix flinches a1) AND (you do not flinch a1) THEN (use Helping Hand [Giga Impact] (Steelix) a2)

Yo yo YO! Welcome to the Rock Gym w/ me, Toon ;P. and for this gym it's much more fun to have a partner with so let's go Fluff!
WEEEEEEE~ I get to come to another match!!
what! didn't i grab Fluff's pokeball?
While you were preparing to leave home, i just so happened to switch out Fluff pokeball w/ my own >:3
...I'm actually impressed
ANYWAYS

This entire round does not go in our Rock Leader's favor. Let's just say he has nervous gitters going against his first opponent as a Gym Leader. How will our leader turn this around?

Too many rocks, Too much gyro rolling, the bug is dead.

Thanks for the TLDR.

This 50++ HP loss is bad. So bad that I have to force a wild card decision.

"A bit on the slow side, but strong enough to be worthy foes."
Vali Lucifer (Aerodacyl @ Pressure & Unnerve w/ Razor Fang) coming in.

Life Orb should have recoil on Gyro Ball for Steelix, so Steelix should have 4 less HP.

Switching out Reuniclus for Ferrothorn.

Ferrothorn @ Focus Sash
Iron Barbs / Anticipation

Steelix: Gyro Ball (Aerodactyl) ~ Iron Head (Aerodactyl) ~ Gyro Ball (Aerodactyl)
IF (Aerodactyl is in the evasive state of Fly when you would act) THEN (use Smack Down (Aerodactyl) and push actions back)
IF (Aerodactyl is under the effects of a protective/evasive move when you would act) THEN (use Earth Power (Tyrantrum) and push actions back)
IF (you are under the effect of Torment when you would act) THEN (use Heavy Slam (Aerodactyl) on the first instance, Iron Tail (Aerodactyl) on the second instance, and Heavy Slam (Aerodactyl) on the third instance)
IF (Aerodactyl uses Bide a1) AND (you are slower than Ferrothorn when you would act a2) THEN (use Protect a3)
IF (Aerodactyl is KOed when you would act) THEN (use Earth Power (Tyrantrum))

Ferrothorn: Gyro Ball (Aerodactyl) ~ Gyro Ball (Aerodactyl) ~ Gyro Ball (Aerodactyl)
IF (Aerodactyl is under the effects of a protective/evasive move when you would act) THEN (target Tyrantrum)
IF (you are under the effect of Torment when you would act) THEN (use Iron Head (Aerodactyl) on the first and third instance)
IF (Aerodactyl uses Bide a1) AND (you are slower than Steelix when you would act a2) THEN (use Protect a3)
IF (Aerodactyl is KOed when you would act) THEN (target Tyrantrum)

Aerodactyl does not have Counter - this is a fault of me :(
...... And behold, the tactic of amplifying Bide counterdamage via attacking your own ally. And wishing a critical happened on your own Tyrantrum.
EDIT: And I forgot Solid Rock on my own Gym. Sigh.

"Now princess, I can amplify your power with this - but it's not going to be a walk in the park."

"Do it."
Vali Lucifer (Aerodacyl w/ Razor Fang): Protect > Earthquake > Rock Slide
IF Nattorei-Ferrothorn is KO'ed, THEN replace that action with Barrier instead.

Rias Gremory (Tyrantrum w/ Jaw Fossil): Bide > Hold > Release

Well, this secures the game. No one to blame but myself really - chalk another up the list of stuff I forgot when I shouldn't. Switch phase initiated.

"So can I join the fight and even up the odds? No? What do you mean?"
Erza (Stratagem @ Mould Breaker & Levitate w/ Expert Belt), and Gogmagog's Left (Omastar @ Shell Armour & Weak Armour w/ Helix Fossil) coming in. Counterswitch? (flavour later)

Uhm, I just want to KO Steelix by this point, so whatever.

"Have you even seen these odds? Even I doubt I can tip the scales back- okay fine, I was kidding about that last part."
Erza (Stratagem @ Levitate & Mould Breaker & Rock Head & Solid Rock w/ Expert Belt): Heat Wave > Fire Blast (Haganeiru-Steelix) > Heat Wave
IF Erza-Stratagem is being targeted by Steel-type Damaging Moves from both Haganeiru-Steelix AND Nattorei-Ferrothorn AND Protect had not been used in the action prior, THEN replace that action with Protect (self) instead.
IF Haganeiru-Steelix is under the effects of Protective/Evasive moves, THEN replace that action with Flamethrower @ Nattorei-Ferrothorn instead.
IF Erza-Stratagem is being targeted by Steel-type Damaging Moves from both Haganeiru-Steelix AND Nattorei-Ferrothorn AND Protect had been used in the action prior, THEN replace that action with Substitute (15HP) instead.
IF Haganeiru-Steelix used Bide A1 AND Erza-Stratagem moved after GLeft-Omastar at A2 AND Protect had not been used in the action prior, THEN replace that action with Protect (self) instead.

IF Haganeiru-Steelix is KO'ed, THEN replace that action with Flamethrower @ Nattorei-Ferrothorn instead.

Gogmagog's Left (Omastar @ Shell Armour & Weak Armour & Rock Head & Solid Rock w/ Helix Fossil): Scald (Haganeiru Steelix) > Surf > Scald (Haganeiru Steelix)
IF Gleft-Omastar is being targeted by a Ground-type Damaging Move from Haganeiru-Steelix AND a Grass-type Damaging Move from Nattorei-Ferrothorn AND Protect had not been used in the action prior, THEN replace that action with Protect (self) instead.
IF Gleft-Omastar is being targeted by a Ground-type Damaging Move from Haganeiru-Steelix AND a Grass-type Damaging Move from Nattorei-Ferrothorn AND Protect not been used in the action prior, THEN replace that action with Substitute (15HP) instead.
IF Haganeiru-Steelix used Bide A1 AND Erza-Stratagem moved before GLeft-Omastar at A2 AND Protect had not been used in the action prior, THEN replace that action with Protect (self) instead.

IF Haganeiru-Steelix is KO'ed, THEN replace that action with Flamethrower @ Nattorei-Ferrothorn instead.

wow, Omastar just KO'd his partner. i swear i had nothing to do with it this time

didn't i jus- *sighs* you're an interesting creature Dizzy ._. but I believe you.

Erza and G's Left arm join the battle, both targeting EM's Steelix with Super Effective moves. Steelix and Ferrothorn Retaliates with Steelix jumps and spins rapidly, and slams into Erza and Ferrothorn bombing the Stratagem with seeds.
Stratagem looks a little weakened but was able to blast fire into Steelix. Omastar uses Surf causing the field to be filled with water not only knocking out Steelix, but knocking out his partner, Erza! Ferrothorn need to cooldown after shooting fireworks last action.
G's Left arm sees the Steelix is down and flamethrowers the Ferrothorn, able to get the critical hit. Ferrothorn shoots spikes on Zt's side of the field.

With those spikes there Tyrantrum won't be able to come back to the field alive :< also that Ferrothorn looks to be on the verge of collapsing cause of fatigue. let me take its place >:3

Dizzy Pls.

That appears to be game!
Tyrantrum was sent out, stepped on one tiny spike, and flops KO'd.
Omastar uses Muddy Water causing both of EM's Pokemon to lose accuracy, but theyre still able to hit their single target.
Omastar uses Muddy Water again, only getting Ferrothorn to lose even more accuracy. Reuniclus was able to hit!, Ferrothorn was not.
Reuniclus finished the Gym Leader's last pokemon giving the win the Elevator_Music!... um Gym Leader where's the badge?
