Stratagem - Erza (U)

A swordsman wields the blade with graceful precision, just as Erza uses her attacks with dangerous beauty. She walked in on one of Gray and Natsu’s brawls, and the resulting free-for-all wore on for half a day before Zheng can subdue her with a Pokeball. Unknowingly for her, that fight left a lasting impression on the two – they’re cautious almost to the point of fearful whenever in her company since then. Wendy and Charla looks up to her as a role model, though, and it was Erza who took care of them, even though she was newer to the family.

Chargestone Cave is the hallowed ground for all of Erza's ancestry, yet she decides that she will withhold her instincts to evolve for the sake of her family. Small but close-knit, everyone looks up to Erza as the big sister, even though her quirks with boys sometimes astonished the girls and make the shy ones (like Juvia and Wendy) blush. After a series of long, drawn out clashes with Mirajane, both of them seemed to have settled to a cordial relationship, mutually agreeing to avoid mentioning the past conflicts, opting instead to look after the girls together and knock the boys down a peg or two when they get too loud.

It wasn't until the strawberry cake event that Erza finally found the courage to overcome her fear. The truth was, she was scared of shouldering her responsibility being a full-grown Stratagem, relying more and more on the rest of the family despite the lads' deferment to her leadership and skills. Resolving to do whatever it takes to protect herself and those around her, she secretly learn how to manipulate the nature from Mirajane, and the two became very fast friends. Although, Mirajane seems to have picked up some of Erza's racy quirks as well...

Nature: Modest (+1 SpA, -1 Atk)

Type:
Rock type: Rock STAB; Adds an additional level of Priority (+0 to +1, +3 to +4 etc.) on naturally occurring level-up, egg, tutor, or TM attacks that increase only defense, special defense, or prevent damage (Full list: Acid Armor, Amnesia, Barrier, Defense Curl, Detect, Fast Guard, Harden, Iron Defense, Light Screen, Protect, Reflect, Skull Bash, Stockpile, Wide Guard, Withdraw). Reduced damage from all special attacks by 2 BAP during Sandstorm, immune to Sandstorm damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Levitate
Type: Passive
This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the all seismic moves. Earth Power will have 3 less BAP. Dig and Dive can still strike a Levitating Pokemon, but only if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Other Ground moves can still hit.

Ability 2: Technician
Type: Passive
This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their attacks that normally deal 6 or below base damage to have their base damage multiplied by 1.5. The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) damage, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2).

Ability 3: Mold Breaker (Unlocked)
Type: Passive
Whenever this Pokemon attacks, it emits an invisible, blindingly quick pulse preceding the attack that disables the opponents natural abilities (e.g. Levitators plummet towards the ground before Earthquake hits, Volt Absorb will not absorb electric attacks, Clear Body does not prevent stat-drops, etc.)

Armaldo - Pantherlily (M)

Gajeel was the one who found Pantherlily's Claw Fossil discarded at the entrance of a mine. Seeing the Murkrow's penchant for it, Zheng decided to go to the nearest archaeological lab and revive it. Pantherlily and Gajeel have been quite attached to each other ever since. They share the same camaraderie towards each other as Natsu and Gray, but at least they didn't have the head-splitting rivalry that the other pair always do. Often after a training session, Gajeel would take Pantherlily up for flight trips, while the latter demonstrates the pleasure of submersion in water. The rest of the family often help Pantherlily too, since he's still much less comfortable on terrestrial environment - Wendy loved piggybacking him and Charla together, while the latter doesn't mind that much.

Pantherlily's much larger size now meant that he would no longer be the protected fossiling now, but a respected fighter in his own right. Swinging his claws with the strength of a shield bash, Pantherlily trains everyday by felling trees for firewood and clearing debris around the monastery backyard. Often in the evenings, the only sounds there are the rustling of his claws as no fallen leaf ever touches the ground.

Rias Gremory, "Princess of Crimson Ruin" - Tyrantrum (F)

Rias is born to a rare family - one in which both her parents were present to take care of her. Before her, they already had a son - who grew up, evolved, and went away to stake his own territory. Being the younger "princess", Rias enjoyed all the privileges - and hardships - that her life as a future empress has to offer, before a cataclysm caused the death of herself and her whole family millions of years before the time of humans.

Being resurrected by Zheng, she is given to and named by Tanner as her Trainer, who somehow also hold another Jaw Fossil that can't be revived - probably because the piece held remnants of both her parents. It is rumoured that Rias' brother walks the earth again this same era that she does, however Rias does not know where to find him.

Evolving into her grown form, Rias still continues the search for her brother. And then she met Issei, then a young Charmander who knew nothing much about the world except the fire in his belly.... Who is just one of her "peerage" of Pokemons, each with stories of their own. She decides that it is high time she declared herself King, and she readies herself for the challenges of her very own monarchy by training relentlessly.

Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk) - caring but stern

Type:
Rock type: Rock STAB; Rias is fast on her mind to add an additional level of Priority on Protect. She also takes reduced damage from all special attacks by two (2) Base Attack Power during Sandstorm, and is immune to Sandstorm damage. Her natural magic can mold and build rocks, ignoring Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.
Dragon type: Dragon STAB; -1 BAP on incoming neutral attacks Dragon itself would resist. Her powerful will allows Thrash or Outrage to be undisrupted by oncoming damage.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Strong Jaw
Type: Passive
Rias' thick fang and massive jaws give her incredibly powerful biting attacks, increasing the BAP of all biting attacks by three (3) BAP. Full List: Bite, Crunch, Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Poison Fang, Thunder Fang.

Ability 2: Rock Head (Unlocked)
Type: Passive
Rias' body and willpower fortifies herself in battle, preventing it from taking recoil damage from moves such as Double-Edge, Flare Blitz, and Head Smash.

Vali Lucifer, "White Dragon Emperor" - Aerodactyl (M)

Born to a lineage of Aerodactyl, with lineages going back as far as time immemorial, Vali was one of the few exceptional case born with great potential. But only one of them. And so he struggled to rise far and above those before it, with the competitive spirit beyond what most would even comprehend. He would use every bit of strength at his disposal just to further his training, and to beat every strong opponent that not just stood in his way, but also those he actively seek out. Currently his long-term project involves resurrecting God to Its True Forme, and challenging it to combat.

Ability 2: Pressure
Type: Passive
Vali's lineage and raw power means his presence fills the air with intense anxiety, and any damaging or status attack launched at him would cost the his opponents two (2) more energy to perform without sufficient will to overcome his.

Type: Passive
The Pokemon's presence causes immense tension in the opponent, preventing them from eating a held Berry. Natural Gift may still be used.

Ability 4: Tough Claws (Mega-Evo only)

Can't take on Mega-Steelix without taking out Necturna...... Come to think of it, Steels crap all over Rock gyms by forcing ridiculous matchups :/ Well, desperate times call for desperate measures.

"But why would she follow the human bard?"

Well, compared to the last time I squared off versus Dogfish in a gym, this is certainly an improvement. A twenty five percent improvement, in fact. But I'll aim for fifty.

"The stuffed toy... But the pieces are stretched too thin. I may not be able to meet the demipower......"
Switch phase initiated. Gogmagog's Right Arm (Cradily w/ Life Orb) replacing Rias Gremory (Tyrantrum w/ Jaw Fossil). Counterswitch?

Yeah this battle is pretty much a goner. Wait I wasn't supposed to say this, I was supposed to aim for the fifty percent mark.

"Part identified - primary system. Commence physical merging... Weapons peripherals online."

"Warning, low power. Forced shutdown imminent. Physical merge subverted to gravito-magnetic links... Link complete."

"So you talk after all, golem."
Gogmagog's Left Arm (Cradily w/ Life Orb): Earth Power > Brine > Earth Power, all @ Kohryu-Steelix
IF Kohryu-Steelix would be under the effects of Protective/Evasive moves, THEN replace that action with Sludge Bomb @ Teddie-Azumarill instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Kohryu-Steelix would be under the effects of Endure AND NOT under the effects of Bind, THEN replace that action with Bind @ Kohryu-Steelix instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Teddie-Azumarill would be under the effects of Protective/Evasive moves when targeted, THEN replace that action with Ingrain instead.
IF Kohryu-Steelix is KO'ed, THEN replace that action with Sludge Bomb @ Teddie-Azumarill instead.

Gogmagog's Back Bone (Lunatone): Grass Knot (Kohryu-Steelix) > Earth Power (Kohryu-Steelix) > Helping Hand (Left-Arm-Cradily)
IF Teddie-Azumarill would use a Damaging Priority move in a combo at Back-Bone-Lunatone, THEN replace the first instance with Protect @ self instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Kohryu-Steelix would be under the effects of Protective/Evasive moves, THEN replace the first instance with Future Sight @ Teddie-Azumarill and the second with Psychic @ Teddie-Azumarill instead, pushing remaining queue back each time.
IF Kohryu-Steelix would be under the effects of Double Team, THEN replace that action with Blizzard instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Kohryu-Steelix is KO'ed, THEN replace that action with Psychic @ Teddie-Azumarill instead.

"Alright, let's retune ourselves!"

Steelix: Earthquake ~ Endure ~ Heavy Slam (Cradily)

  • Shouldn't have Draco Meteor / Psychic on R2 A3.
  • Should've (possibly) subbed for Mega-Steelix hitting like an 18-wheeler.
  • (Possibly) shouldn't have subbed for Double Team R1.
  • (Possibly) should've attempted Mega-Aerodactyl since Necturna has Knock Off.
  • Aerodactyl hadn't learn Endure yet.
Could've Dig combo, but nah - Rock Slide has a 0.0729 percent chance of survival, which is better than nothing. I'm honestly surprised Bind still takes effect after Cradily is KO'ed, but it's a nice surprise :)
Okay, pretend that this is a 5v5, your intended format - who's your next mon and what would you have done? Answer: Omastar/Stratagem beatdown (I kinda wish I had Archeops. Or Mega-Lolipot)

"The demipower. The last has appeared. Time to-"
