Currently in very early stages ROSERADE In a Pokemon battle, Roserade is often used as a lead to put an opponents pokemon to sleep, then set up (toxic) spikes on a switch. It is widely considered roserade's best and only useful use. however, GBU, is quite different from the smogon metagame. The biggest aspect of this, is the lack of a sleep clause, which means more than one of the opponents pokemon can be asleep at any time, leading to moves like hypnosis and Sleep powder being much more common. and this, is on e of the many places Roserade shines. At a very respectable 90 base speed, roserade is tied with Venomoth for the second fastest user of sleep powder, second only to Jumpluff. This is not Roserade's only Niche, however, as it also sports lots of support moves, as well as the ability to work well as a special sweeper at a very impressive 125 Base special attack. Nonetheless, onto some sets: Bed-Time Roserade@Wide Lens/Choice Scarf Timid 252 Sp.A/252Spe/4HP(Preferred) 252 spe/200 Defense/58 HP(Only if using leech seed, but other spread is still most often better) Sleep Powder Flash/Double Team Leaf Storm/Energy Ball Hidden Power Ice/Water/Bug/Rock/Fighting/Flying/Leech Seed This Set is made for the sole purpose of pissing off your opponent. Put your opponents pokemon to sleep, then spam double team or flash, and slowly kill it with little trouble, then rinse and repeat. Wide Lens allows both sleep powder and leaf storm to gain much better accuracy(Leaf Storm almost being perfect accuracy)To allow you to suffer as few misses as possible, while choice Scarf allows you to outspeed all potential threats, and put them to sleep first, at the risk of accuracy and being locked into one move, thereby simply making it a fast sleep inducer and an annoyance to your opponent. Flash and Double Team take advantage of the GBU also not having an evasion clause, and with all of your opponents pokemon being asleep, you can easily get to +6 and stay around for incredibly long periods of time.Leaf Storm/Energy Ball is there for STAB, and for an attack if you get taunted if you choose leech seed for the final spot. The Final Spot, has a lot of variety. Hidden Power Ice is standard and good for coverage, while HP Water also does decent coverage, and gives a surprise factor against any fire types that try to ruin your fun. Bug, does the second part of HP Water's job, taking Psychics and Dark types who can easily shake off your energy balls/Leaf Storm and slowly stall you out.HP Rock does the same for Bug pokemon who get in your way, while Fighting and Flying are only used to quickly dispose of certain Insomnia users, such as Vigoroth or Primeape. Leech Seed, is in the case that you Feel Energy Ball/Leaf Storm is sufficient, or you wish to be able to quickly take down the more defensive pokemon, such as blissey or Chansey. The recommended choices for this spot hoever, go to HP Ice/Water, or Leech Seed. Special Sweeper: Roserade@Choice Specs/Choice Scarf/Wise Glasses 252 Sp.A/252 Spe/4HP Leaf Storm/Energy Ball Sludge Bomb Sleep Powder/Toxic/Hidden Power Ice/Weather Ball Weather Ball/Sleep Powder/Toxic/Hidden Power Ice This set uses Roserade's high 125 special attack to good use. Choice Specs are if you feel the need for the extra damage, or Choice Scarf should you need the extra speed, while Wise Glasses are there for the slight Sp.Attack boost and the ability to change moves, while sacrificing the extra speed or power the choice items provide. Leaf Storm and Sludge Bomb provide STAB, as well as surprisingly decent coverage, and when combined with HP Ice, provides very good coverage.Sleep Powder and Toxic are there in the case of encountering a tough opponent, you can easily put it to sleep and slowly take it down, or poison it, weakening it to be taken out by another pokemon. Weather ball, is in the case of any weather team you may want to put roserade on, as it can be either a Water, Fire, Ice, or Rock move, at 100 accuracy, as well as 100 base power. All in all, Roserade has surprisingly good stats, and has the potential to be a definite sleeper hit in the GBU Metagame.
