UU Rotom-C

[OVERVIEW]

* An Electric / Grass typing along with solid mixed defenses allows Rotom-C to check a plethora of threats, including Water-types such as Swampert, Suicune, and Primarina.
* Along with solid defenses, Rotom-C has decent Special Attack and Speed stats, allowing it to run multiple sets and effectively act as either a revenge killer or a powerful offensive pivot.
* Access to Volt Switch allows Rotom-C to provide momentum for teammates, which is further enhanced by STAB Leaf Storm, often deterring Ground-types such as Hippowdon and Krookodile from blocking Volt Switch.
* Rotom-C faces heavy competition from Raikou as an offensive Electric-type, but it distinguishes itself with its access to Trick allowing it to cripple walls such as Blissey, Clefable, and Mew, along with its superior bulk and access to Levitate, which allows it to better combat Ground-types.
* However, Rotom-C has less significantly less Special Attack and Speed than other Electric-types such as Raikou, and it has no means of breaking through Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Decidueye outside of using Trick to cripple them.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

* Volt Switch provides momentum for teammates and is a decently strong STAB move for Rotom-C.
* Leaf Storm is Rotom-C's only Grass-type STAB move, providing Rotom-C with a nuke to hit Ground-types such as Hippowdon, Swampert, and Krookodile super effectively. Leaf Storm also has solid synergy with Volt Switch, as the prospect of Rotom-C using Leaf Storm usually prevents Ground-types from switching in to prevent Volt Switch.
* Thunderbolt is a stronger Electric STAB move than Volt Switch and does not force Rotom-C to switch out when used.
* Trick is a fantastic option for Rotom-C, as it allows it to cripple opposing walls that typically switch into it such as Blissey, Clefable, Amoonguss, and Chesnaught.
* Signal Beam is an alternative option, rounding out Rotom-C's coverage well by hitting Pokemon such as Hydreigon, Celebi, and Latias for super effective damage. Locking it into Signal Beam is often dangerous, however, as it leaves Rotom-C vulnerable as setup bait for a plethora of threatening Pokemon.

Set Details
========

* Choice Specs boosts Rotom-C's power tremendously and synergizes well with a hit-and-run move such as Volt Switch.
* 252 EVs are invested into Special Attack and Speed in order to hit as hard and as fast as possible.
* A Timid nature is optimal, as it allows Rotom-C to outspeed Nidoking, Chandelure, and Togekiss, which all threaten Rotom-C with their respective STAB moves.
* Levitate gives Rotom-C an immunity to Ground, which aids it in combat versus Pokemon such as Gliscor and Hippowdon.

Usage Tips
========

* Choice Specs Rotom-C is best used as a hard hitting offensive pivot. Use Rotom's unique typing and solid defenses to switch into and threaten out the many Water- and Ground-types that flood the tier.
* If you predict your opponent to switch out, it is very beneficial to use Volt Switch in order to chip the incoming Pokemon and, more importantly, provide a free switch for a teammate ; even if the opponent has an Electric-immune Pokemon, they must risk getting hit hard by a potential Leaf Storm if they attempt to block the Volt Switch.
* Beware of mindlessly choosing Volt Switch or Thunderbolt with Rotom-C though, as more aggressive battlers, not fearing Leaf Storm, may still opt to switch in their Electric-immune Pokemon.
* When the opponent has a Pokemon that Rotom-C greatly struggles to break through such as Blissey or Amoonguss, using Trick as they switch in is very useful not only for itself, but often for its teammates as well. Trick should only be used, however, if the extra power boost from Choice Specs is not needed for the remainder of the battle.
* Be careful when choosing which move to lock Rotom-C into, as after using Leaf Storm it becomes vulnerable to setup Pokemon such as Swords Dance Scizor, Nasty Plot Celebi, and Calm Mind Chandelure. Similarly, locking Rotom-C into either of its Electric-type STAB moves leaves it in a vulnerable position versus Ground-types such as Nidoking and Swords Dance Gliscor.

Team Options
========

* Rotom-C greatly appreciates entry hazard support from the likes of Klefki, Forretress, and Froslass, as Spikes take advantage of the large amount of switches it tends to force throughout a battle.
* Entry hazard removal from Pokemon such as Tentacruel and Starmie is also critical to Rotom-C's success, as it is constantly pivoting in and out of battle and, as such, is worn down quickly by Stealth Rock.
* Fire-types such as Volcanian, Infernape, and Entei are valuable teammates, as they can break through the Grass-types Rotom-C so greatly despises. Entei and Infernape pair especially well with it, as they excel at breaking through specially defensive Pokemon like Blissey that wall Rotom-C.
* Late game cleaners such as Mega Sharpedo, Mega Aerodactyl, and Choice Scarf Keldeo are excellent partners alongside Rotom-C, as they can sweep through an opposing team once it has effectively weakened the bulkier Pokemon.
* Other users of Volt Switch and U-turn such as Raikou, Scizor, and Flygon make for solid partners alongside Rotom-C, as they can also help keep up momentum throughout a battle.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

* Volt Switch generates momentum for teammates and is a decently powerful Electric-type STAB move for Rotom-C.
* Leaf Storm is a powerful secondary STAB attack that enables Rotom-C to hit Ground- and Rock-types super effectively and works well with the hit-and-run nature of the Choice Scarf.
* Thunderbolt is useful for late-game cleaning when the opposing team has been sufficiently weakened and is also a reliable Electric-type STAB attack that does not force Rotom-C to switch out.
* Trick allows Rotom-C to cripple walls such as Blissey, Mew, and Clefable when it no longer requires the Speed boost from its Choice Scarf.

Set Details
========

* Choice Scarf turns Rotom-C into a lethal revenge killer and allows it to outspeed prevalent threats such as Keldeo, Gengar, and Mega Absol.
* Maximum investment in both Speed and Special Attack allows Rotom-C to hit as hard and fast as possible.
* A Timid nature is necessary for outspeeding base 80 Speed Choice Scarf users such as Chandelure, as well as Jolly Mega Aerodactyl.
* Levitate gives Rotom-C an immunity to Ground, which aids it in combat versus Pokemon such as Gliscor and Krookodile.

Usage Tips
========

* Choice Scarf Rotom-C should mainly be used as a revenge killer.
* Volt Switch is the most spammable move on the set and, as such, should be used most frequently. When the opponent does have an Electric-immune Pokemon such Krookodile or Swampert, using Leaf Storm or double switching is often an acceptable play as well.
* Use Thunderbolt to clean through the opponent's team in the later stages of the game when the opposing team has been sufficiently weakened.
* Only use Trick when the added Speed from Choice Scarf is no longer needed. Beware of using Trick when the opponent has a Pokemon that is potentially holding a Mega Stone or Z-Crystal, as it will fail and put you in a vulnerable position.
* All of Rotom-C's moves are prone to leaving it as setup bait to a variety of Pokemon, so it is essential to predict correctly when using Rotom-C.

Team Options
========

* Powerful wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Primarina and Choice Band Krookodile make for solid partners alongside Rotom-C, as they can break through bulkier Pokemon and weaken the opponents team for Rotom-C to sweep in the later stages of the game. These wallbreakers also appreciate the momentum Rotom-C generates with Volt Switch.
* Other users of U-turn and Volt Switch such as Magneton and Scizor are excellent partners alongside Rotom-C, as they similarly generate momentum for teammates and form a fearsome VoltTurn core.
* Fire- and Flying-types such as Volcanion, Chandelure, and Togekiss can all threaten the Grass-types that plague Rotom-C.
* Rotom-C forces a significant amount of switches, so Spikes support from Forretress, Klefki, and Roserade works well to rack up damage on the opposing team.
* Similarly, Rotom-C appreciates its own entry hazard removal, as it is frequently switching in and out of battle and, as such, Stealth Rock damage accumulates quickly.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Hidden Power Fire is an option on either of Rotom-C's sets, hitting opposing Grass- and Steel-types such as Amoonguss, Celebi, and Scizor for super effective damage, but it leaves Rotom-C further walled by Dragon-types such as Hydreigon and Latias.
* A bulky attacking set of Leaf Storm / Volt Switch / Will-O-Wisp / Pain Split can be effective in combating more defensively oriented teams and has the advantage of not being locked into one move, but the added Speed from Choice Scarf or the added power from Choice Specs is usually more valuable. Moreover, while the added bulk Rotom-C obtains from investing into its HP stat may seem rather valuable on paper, in practice it does not allow Rotom-C to survive any additional relevant attacks from the more powerful offensive Pokemon in the metagame.
* A defensive set utilizing status options such as Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave may seem appealing on paper alongside Rotom-C's solid defensive typing, but it lacks reliable recovery outside of Pain Split and is usually outclassed by other bulky Grass-types such as Amoonguss, Celebi, and Chesnaught.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Opposing Grass-types such as Celebi, Chesnaught, and Decidueye all resist Rotom-C's STAB options and can even use Rotom-C as setup fodder with Nasty Plot, Belly Drum, and Swords Dance respectively.

**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types such as Hydreigon and Latias similarly resist Rotom-C's STAB attacks and can threaten Rotom-C out with their powerful STAB moves.

**Fire-types**: Although they do not enjoy switching in on either of Rotom-C's Electric-type STAB attacks, Fire-types such as Entei, Infernape, and Arcanine take little damage from Leaf Storm and Signal Beam and can OHKO Rotom-C with their super effective STAB Fire-type attacks.

**Bulky Special Walls**: Bulky special walls such as Blissey, Mew, and Clefable can easily tank any attack that Rotom-C can throw at them and only truly fear Trick.

**Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Faster offensive Pokemon such as Hydreigon, Gengar, and Kyurem can all outspeed and OHKO non-Choice Scarf variants of Rotom-C.

This is ready for QC. Been a while since I've written one of these so a little rusty. Overview might need more emphasis on rotom's ability to check ground types and the signal beam mention in moves for specs was just something I remembered from ORAS not too adamant about it staying or leaving.

Hi

Overview
  • Remove Galvantula mention in the fourth bullet point. It doesn't really face competition from it; it's mainly just Raikou.
  • Best to remove Celebi from the last bullet point since you have a Signal Beam mention in moves.
[Choice Specs]
Moves
  • I'd mention that HP Ice also hits and 2HKOes Dragon-types like Hydreigon and Latias. It does guarantee the OHKO SpD Gliscor after rocks, but a lot of those tend to run more Speed these days to the point where Leaf Storm does enough, so you can add it if you want, but I'm not too hard up on this.
Set Details
  • Not really QC stuff, but make sure to have a space after the asterisk in the last point or a bullet point won't form when uploading.
  • Remove Zygarde-10% from the Levitate point, since it'd still click Thousand Arrows anyway. Levitate makes no difference.
Usage Tips
  • Remove Rain Dance Swampert from examples of Ground-types that set up on a Rotom-C Choice locked into an Electric-type STAB move. It's not relevant at the moment without Mega Swampert in the tier. You could use Nidoking as an example and just say how it will be taken advantage of by Ground-types such as Swords Dance Gliscor and Life Orb Nidoking.
Team Options
  • Mention entry hazard removal. It's just as important as having hazards of your own considering how much Rotom-C will be pivoting in, so it's gonna get worn down by Stealth Rock fast in conjunction with switching into Scald and the like. Tentacruel is a really solid example that synergizes well.
  • Mention strong physical attackers/wallbreakers that can break down special walls like Blissey. You could just give special mention to the latter two Fire-types you brought up.
[Choice Scarf]
Moves
  • I feel like saying that Leaf Storm is a powerful nuke might be overselling it, especially on the Choice Scarf set. Just say that it's a powerful secondary STAB move.
Set Details
  • You left in an Alakazam mention in the first point
  • Togekiss isn't (and shouldn't be) that relevant of a Choice Scarf user, so remove that. I'd mention outspeeding Jolly Mega Aerodactyl as something that Timid does but Modest doesn't.
  • Same deal with the space after the asterisk and Zygarde-10% as the Choice Specs set.
Team Options
  • Same as before, mention entry hazard removal.
Other Options
  • I don't really get what you mean by disrupter set tbh. I thought you meant defensive but then the point below it exists. From the set, you could just say "bulky attacker". In my opinion, one of the biggest flaws in a bulky attacker set is that the extra bulk doesn't actually do much for it as far as taking hits goes due to how offensive the metagame is unless you run a fully defensive set, which you already mentioned was outclassed by other Pokemon. So yeah, clarify on this section.
Checks and Counters
  • Mention Fire-types. Obviously they don't appreciate switching into Volt Switch or Thunderbolt, but they're great just checking Rotom-C.
Sorry for the long wait man. QC 1/3

Small thing - change "preventing" in the third intro bullet to "deterring".

Definitely don't slash TBolt with anything, especially HP Ice, which I don't think is even needed anywhere on the set.

252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-Mow Leaf Storm vs. 244 HP / 200+ SpD Gliscor: 250-295 (71 - 83.8%)

HP Ice isn't even a guaranteed KO either. Slash Signal Beam (hits HP Ice "targets" except Gliscor harder - Celebi, Hydreigon, Latias) after Trick, and put Hidden Power Fire as the first bullet point in OO. Get rid of the Modest nature line in Set Details, completely not worth underspeeding Togekiss, Timid Blastoise, Nidoking and more.

Analysis body is good and well written.

Checks and Counters: add a section for powerful faster Pokemon, Rotom takes a ton of damage from Pokemon it would really like to be forcing out, like Aero and Keldeo.

QC 2/3 after that.
