S11 BSS - Japanese Team Translations

The following are translations of teams from:
http://aaaapokemon.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-148.html

Since the Battle Spot forum lacks an up-to-date Sample Teams thread, I figured I'd put this together to save people time in trying to decipher some of the successful Japanese teams from last season. My knowledge of Japanese is limited, and so these were done using various online translators/converters. If you find any errors, please report them.

Cool thread

For the sets that don't have evs, you can use smogdex sets, but you have to be careful with the evs. At lv.50, evs need to be divisible by 4 but not by 8. The second team, for example, has wasted evs in Porygon2.

Since Porygon2 is using Hidden Power Ground, which requires 30 SpA and SpD IVs, it is correct for it be using some EVs which are divisible by eight. I've edited the listed IVs to make this clearer.

The smogdex uses level 50 EVs for BSS.

Ok! Maybe it is cool to analyse some trends watching these sets. First thing i notice is that noone runs full Hyper Offense: every player has some defensive mon like suicune or porygon2. Other things i note is a big amount of icetype moves. One of them even runs four of his six pokemon with an ice type move. Anyone else other things?

This is a cool idea, however 'translating' the actual sets is the easiest part and anyone can do it if they visit the Japanese Resources thread. What would make this thread really worthwhile is if you actually translated the descriptions of the teams / Pokemon / sets provided in the blogs so we can actually understand how everything works / why certain EVs are used etc..

Sure, it's not too hard, but it's time consuming. The idea is just to give newer players, or players interested in examining trends, a chance to take a look at these teams without having to spend the time translating them themselves. Picking a team is more about finding a play-style that fits you than it is about choosing Pokemon you like. If a player deciphers a team, only to find out that they don't like how it functions, then that could be frustrating. That then leads onto your point about descriptions being a useful tool in determining that, and I totally agree, but, although I'm taking beginner Japanese Courses myself at the moment, I don't have enough knowledge personally to set any sort of standard for descriptions which would accompany the teams in this thread. I'll see what I can do though; I could at least include some notes on the EVs used.

Hoooo boy. That's a lot of things to translate n_n'
I agree! Please don't feel any pressure, I don't expect anyone to spend so much of their time doing something for free. I'm the one who decided to make this thread after all. Maybe I'll just voice myself if I get really stuck on any one thing.

Like 冷ビ from Empoleon's moves at http://xyuuuki.hatenablog.com/entry/2015/09/15/183459. The Kanji's literal translation appears to be 'Cold Water', but I can't find a direct translation into a Move. Maybe Defog? Although it isn't a common move in BSS. For reference, the rest of the moves are Scald, Yawn, and Roar. It appears to function as a phaser for Hippowdon who sets up Stealth Rock.

There are a lot of abbreviations that are used in Japanese analyses that fall below the translation radar. It's lingo that you can't know unless you've been exposed to it enough times. Same thing happens in English (i.e. loom, talon, chomp, zard, zam, zone, rocks, cune, ttar, para, clef, wincon, etc etc)

I have grown accustom to the japanese blog lingo such as TonoDura or KyoroDura. And other random stuff lol such as Bolt for Thundurus and Nin for sylveon (ninfia). Fire low the talonflame and gabu short for gaburiasu the garchomp. Manda is salamence because salamence is boomanda. Kure is cresselia because kuruserria?(idk how to spell that translate lol). Kuchito is mawile btw!
