RU's own lizard, Salazzle, is one of the premier offensive Pokemon in the tier thanks to its great offensive typing coupled with its amazing Speed tier and Special Attack stat. Access to Nasty Plot, along with the aforementioned typing, allows it to break the bulkier teams that are popular right now. Its great typing further allows it to check some Pokemon, like Comfey and Shaymin, despite its lacking defensive stats, as well as absorb Toxic Spikes. It is a very effective Z-Move user, as Acid Downpour enables it to break through even Pokemon that resist it at +2. Meanwhile, its stellar Speed stat of 117 gives it a great matchup against offensive teams as well. Choice Scarf Salazzle with Hidden Power Ice and Toxic is even an option to revenge kill offensive threats like Dragon Dance Flygon. Despite its frailty, Salazzle is a menacing Pokemon that should be accounted for when building any RU team.

Salazzle @ Poisonium Z
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Wave
- Hidden Power Grass

Despite Salazzle's very good Special Attack stat, the lizard lacks the power to break through very bulky Pokemon like Umbreon and Porygon2 without a boost; Nasty Plot helps patch up this weakness. Fire Blast and Sludge Wave give it very good coverage, with Fire Blast nailing Registeel and other Steel-types while Sludge Wave helping to break through Water-types like Milotic. At +2, Acid Downpour OHKOes Flygon and other bulky Pokemon like Cresselia if dealt a bit of chip damage. Hidden Power Grass gives Salazzle a much better stall matchup by breaking Quagsire while also hitting Rhyperior. The 8 HP EVs are run to avoid the 3HKO from Umbreon's Foul Play.

Unfortunately, all is not well for Salazzle. Its lackluster bulk means that it has a hard time setting up when pressured offensively at all. All of the most common Choice Scarf users in the tier have ways to easily revenge kill it; Shaymin has Earth Power, Flygon has Earthquake, and Durant has Rock Slide. While Salazzle is a fearsome wallbreaker, it can be taken on defensively by common Pokemon like Dragalge and Gigalith, and it requires prior damage to take out Cresselia, Umbreon, and Porygon2. Despite all this, Salazzle remains one of the premier wallbreakers and offensive threats in the RU metagame, so try it out!

+2 z-sludge wave doesnt ohko spdef cress and only has a chance to ohko phys def, same goes with mantine. mention that its a roll or that u need the slightest bit of prior damage for it to ohko.

mention that its great typing also makes it check some mons despite its frailty, namely comfey and possibly shaymin if you predict a seed flare

good job otherwise, QC approved 1/2

mention how the typing allows it to absorb tspikes/be immune to toxic which prevents it from being stalled out by smart switches/protect

Despite Salazzle's very good Special Attack stat, the lizard lacks the power to break through very bulky Pokemon like Umbreon and Porygon2 without a boost; (Remove Period, Add Semicolon) Nasty Plot helps patch up this weakness. Fire Blast and Sludge Wave give it very good coverage, with Fire Blast nailing Registeel and other Steel-types while Sludge Wave helps helping to [parallelism] break through Water-types like Milotic. At +2, Acid Downpour OHKOes Flygon and other bulky Pokemon like, if dealt a bit of chip damage, Cresselia if dealt a bit of chip damage. [optional] Hidden Power Grass gives Salazzle a much better stall matchup by breaking Quagsire while also hitting Rhyperior.

[Personally, I'm a bit curious about the 8 HP EVs. It's a unique spread, so it might be worth mentioning that the 8 HP EVs let it survive 3 uses of Foul Play from Umbreon. This also lets you incorporate a bit more about Usage Tips in the set description. If this causes you to become concerned about word count, feel free to remove or modify the Fire Blast + Sludge Wave line. I left it in because Sludge Wave breaking Water-types is not necessarily intuitive and you're at a good word count right now.]

Unfortunately, all is not well for Salazzle. Its lackluster Defense [if you meant both physical and special defense, use 'bulk' here instead] means that it has a hard time setting up when pressured offensively at all. All of the most common Choice Scarf users in the tier have ways to easily revenge kill it; Shaymin has Earth Power, Flygon has Earthquake, and Durant has Rock Slide.
