[OVERVIEW]

Scizor is arguably one of the best momentum grabbers in Battle Spot Singles thanks to its high Attack and STAB U-turn that allows you to keep up offensive pressure. Scizor can fulfill a variety of roles such as a setup sweeper, revenge killer, and physical or special sponge, but it is generally found on balance and stall teams mainly due to its low Speed but superb defensive typing. Having access to a priority move in Technician-boosted Bullet Punch really helps a slow Pokemon like Scizor. With only one weakness in Fire and excellent bulk, Scizor is able to switch into many powerful special attackers such as Mega Gardevoir, Sylveon, Gengar, and Latios. Its Mega Evolution further increases its Scizor's already impressive defenses, and reliable recovery in Roost makes Scizor extremely difficult to take down without a Fire-type move. However, Scizor is often at the mercy of Fire-types commonly seen on Battle Spot such as Blaziken, Talonflame, and Mega Charizard X and Y, as they are all able to get a free turn without being threatened. Other dangerous foes include Zapdos and Thundurus, which can both beat Scizor one-on-one. Scizor is often seen as outclassed by other powerful Steel-types in the metagame such as Aegislash and Mega Mawile, with both having better typing and being overall more powerful, but access to Roost, which the other offensive Steel-types lack, allows Scizor to last much longer in battle.

Moves
========

Swords Dance is required on Scizor due to its relatively limited coverage options outside of its STAB moves and to make Scizor more threatening. Roost increases Scizor's longevity to allow it to switch in more or to grab more boosts with Swords Dance. Bullet Punch is Scizor's STAB move of choice, as it gets boosted by Technician and is very spammable against Fairy-types such as Sylveon and Mega Gardevoir. Thanks to the priority, Scizor doesn't need to worry about its low Speed to sweep against faster threats like Gengar and Mamoswine. Knock Off provides Scizor with Dark-type coverage to hit threats such as Aegislash and Gengar and gets rid of their item for non-Mega variants of Gengar; it can also OHKO Thundurus after one Swords Dance boost. U-turn can be used over Knock Off to allow Scizor to scout for Fire-types so that the team can have a better matchup against potentially dangerous threats. Bug Bite is a reliable STAB move that is boosted by Technician and more powerful than U-turn; however, it is generally not recommended because it doesn't offer Scizor momentum when Fire-types come in. Nevertheless, it does remove potential Berries from Pokemon such as Sitrus Berry Rotom-W and allows Scizor to keep its boosts during the match. Superpower is a viable option in the last slot to hit Mega Kangaskhan, Ferrothorn, and Mega Lucario.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in HP makes Scizor as bulky as possible because Speed isn't that important with priority moves and reliable recovery. Allocating 28 EVs into Defense allows Scizor to survive two Earthquakes from Adamant Landorus-T, while 116 Special Defense EVs help it survive two Shadow Balls from maximum Special Attack Mega Gengar. The rest of the EVs are allocated into Attack to allow Scizor to benefit as much as possible from an Adamant nature. Given how the mechanics of EVs work at level 50, the remaining 4 should be allocated to Speed so no points are wasted. Scizorite is necessary, as it not only improves Scizor's defenses but also makes it less susceptible to moves such as Knock Off and Trick. Life Orb is an alternative if you already plan to bring other Mega Evolutions and should be used with a more offensive spread of 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe for maximum damage output. This setup offers Scizor massive offensive potential at the cost of significant bulk. Technician not only is the best ability for Scizor in general but also lets you feign a non-Mega Scizor set, which is especially useful if your team has more than one potential Mega Evolution. However, Light Metal is a viable alternative prior to Mega Evolution, as Scizor will take less damage from moves such as Low Kick when switching in.

Usage Tips
========

Don't bring Scizor into the match if Team Preview is very unfavorable, such as when half the team is a major threat, like when you see Salamence, Volcarona, and Suicune on one team. However, Scizor does have a favorable matchup against Trick Room teams because of its ability to remove Cresselia and its low Speed, but it must be wary of Heatran. Always Mega Evolve Scizor as early as possible, especially when running Light Metal because Scizor really needs the extra bulk. Scizor may be used as a lead if there are no Fire-types because it has a good matchup against other potential leads such as Landorus-T, Mamoswine, and Ferrothorn and is able to U-turn out to maintain momentum against these foes. Swords Dance should only be used in later stages when most of the opponent's team has been revealed, especially when running Knock Off or Superpower over U-turn. Never overestimate Mega Scizor's bulk, and always scout for potential Hidden Power Fire from common users such as Mega Venusaur and Serperior; however, the latter can only OHKO at +2 and is destroyed by Mega Scizor's Bug-type STAB moves.

Team Options
========

Latios and Scizor have near-perfect synergy, with Latios taking on Fire-types and Scizor taking on Dragon- and Fairy-types while also eliminating Dark-types that threaten Latios like Tyranitar. Spamming Choice Specs Draco Meteor with Latios could also weaken the opposing team enough for Scizor to sweep. Garchomp is able to provide Stealth Rock support while Scizor comfortably takes Ice- and Fairy-type attacks for it. Dragonite is able to set up on every Fire-type that takes out Scizor without fearing status as much due to Lum Berry. Powerful Fairy-types such as Mega Gardevoir and Sylveon can eliminate Mega Sableye, one of Scizor's main checks, while also completing a popular Dragon / Fairy / Steel core. Tyranitar helps Scizor eliminate Talonflame and Mega Charizard Y and has the ability to change the weather to sand, which is more favorable to Scizor. Blaziken is able to Baton Pass Speed boosts to Scizor, which could really use the Speed because it's so slow, while Scizor has a better matchup against Azumarill and Slowbro, which all threaten Blaziken. Gastrodon is a counter to many Electric-types such as Mega Manectric and Raikou and gets Special Attack boosts from Scalds aimed at Scizor. Thundurus pairs well with Scizor because its paralysis support helps alleviate Scizor's low Speed and it can eliminiate Flying-types like Talonflame and Mega Charizard Y with relative ease.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Bullet Punch provides Scizor with a powerful STAB move, priority, and revenge killing capabilities against Fairy-types and weakened teams. U-turn is a must for Scizor, as it cannot afford to stay in on potential Fire-types while being locked into one move and ensures momentum is maintained to allow for a more positive matchup. Superpower is able to OHKO Mega Kangaskhan and Heatran and cleanly achieves the 2HKO on other threats such as Mega Mawile and Porygon2. Knock Off is able to cripple switch-ins by removing items such as Leftovers, Rocky Helmet, and Eviolite while dealing a nice amount of damage. Pursuit can be used over Knock Off as an alternative Dark-type coverage move that can trap Gengar and Latios and also helps weaken bulky Psychic-types like Cresselia.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in HP and Attack with an Adamant nature allows Scizor to hit as hard as possible without losing much bulk. The remaining 4 EVs are not as important but can be allocated to Speed to outspeed other uninvested Scizor. Choice Band is the best-suited item for this set; along with Scizor's high base Attack, it allows it to dish out huge amounts of damage with its STAB moves alone. Technician should be used over any other abilities when using non-Mega Scizor because Bullet Punch can benefit greatly from the ability.

Usage Tips
========

If there are no Fire-types in Team Preview, Scizor makes for a decent lead to hit the foe hard with an appropriate move. U-turn should always be used at the early stages to scout for potential checks and counters, as Scizor cannot afford to be Choice-locked into Bullet Punch against foes that resist it. As this set doesn't have the bulk and recovery to take repeated hits, it's best to send it out on Fairy-types and other defensive foes like Cresselia and Ferrothorn or come in on a free turn. It might also be a good idea to use U-turn on obvious switches against Fairy-types because there is no drawback in doing so and it will help weaken the opponent's team enough for Bullet Punch to clean.

Team Options
========

Landorus-T forms a nice U-turn core with Scizor, as Scizor takes Ice-type attacks while Landorus-T helps eliminate Fire-types with its EdgeQuake combination. Garchomp provides Stealth Rock support while also eliminating Heatran and Magnezone, which are huge threats to Scizor. Hydreigon enjoys Fairy-types being threatened and removed by Scizor while threatening Scizor's checks through sheer power in return. Rotom-W is a nice teammate for Scizor, being able to take on Fire-types well while forming a solid VoltTurn core. Mega Salamence pairs well with non-Mega Scizor, being able to threaten opposing physical Fire-types with Intimidate. Chansey appreciates Scizor's ability to Pursuit trap Gengar, one of Chansey's counters, while easily absorbing special Fire-type moves aimed at Scizor. Thundurus is helpful for being able to paralyze Fire-type sweepers such as Blaziken, Mega Charizard X, and Volcarona with Prankster Thunder Wave while also eliminating Talonflame and Mega Charizard Y for Scizor to function with less fear.

[SET]
name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Bullet Punch
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Roost
move 4: Toxic / Knock Off
item: Rocky Helmet
ability: Technician
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Bullet Punch is Scizor's main STAB move and also has priority to pick off weakened targets, and it hits Fairy-types for decent damage even without investment. U-turn is Scizor's secondary STAB move, allowing it to gain more favorable matchups against its checks and counters through switching out as they switch in. Roost is necessary to heal off damage, allowing Scizor to further rack up damage to physical threats such as Mega Kangaskhan through Rocky Helmet. Toxic should be used in the fourth slot because it can help Scizor wear down defensive foes such as Garchomp and Landorus-T, especially because this Scizor has no means to do so otherwise. However, Knock Off is a viable alternative that removes items from foes while offering some coverage for those that resist Bug and Steel, like Thundurus and Heatran, on the switch.

Set Details
========

An Impish nature is used as well as maximum investment in HP and Defense in order to get the most use of Rocky Helmet and take on physical attackers as effectively as possible. Rocky Helmet inflicts extra damage on physical attackers whenever they make contact, which is especially helpful against Mega Kangaskhan due to Parental Bond letting it hit twice every turn. Scizorite is an alternative to Rocky Helmet that gives Scizor a large boost in Defense and Special Defense, but losing the passive damage from Rocky Helmet may be unappealing. Technician is Scizor's best ability and should always be used over other abilities unless you're using Mega Scizor, in which case Light Metal can be used to soften damage from attacks like Low Kick.

Usage Tips
========

Scizor can be sent in on powerful physical attackers such as Mega Heracross, Mega Kangaskhan, and Mamoswine. U-turn should always have priority over Roost if Scizor is decently healthy, in case there is a Fire-type at the back, as Scizor cannot afford to stay in on one and potentially allow free boosts. As this set lacks any Attack investment and doesn't run any boosting moves, it heavily relies on Toxic and Rocky Helmet to do most of the damage. Status such as burn, paralysis, and confusion from Swagger doesn't cripple this Scizor as much as other sets due to the passive damage Rocky Helmet and Toxic still offer. Despite not having any investment in Special Defense, Scizor is still able to beat Fairy-types such as Mega Gardevoir.

Team Options
========

Raikou forms a nice VoltTurn core with Scizor due to the latter's ability to switch into powerful Earthquakes for Raikou and spread Toxic to weaken Raikou's checks. Mega Kangaskhan pairs well with Scizor due to its ability to counter Cresselia, which is one of the best checks to Kangaskhan. Salamence enjoys the removal of Mamoswine, and its Intimidate also helps Scizor take physical attacks better to rack up more damage from Rocky Helmet. Volcarona is a decent partner for Scizor, as Chansey is a huge threat to it and Scizor can Knock Off its item or cripple it with Toxic. Scizor can help Mega Charizard X take on Landorus-T and cripple Hippowdon and Unaware Quagsire with Toxic, which are major nuisances to Mega Charizard X.

[SET]
name: Specially Defensive

evs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 204 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Swords Dance is used to boost Scizor's Attack quickly, as it wouldn't be able to do much damage due to the lack of investment in Attack. Iron Defense may be used over Swords Dance as an alternative setup move that makes Scizor very hard to take down with both physical and special attacks after a single boost. Roost provides Scizor with instant recovery to allow it more opportunities to set up. Knock Off offers nice coverage against Ghost-types like Aegislash and is mainly used to threaten Fire-type switch-ins that carry items. U-turn is a strong STAB attack Scizor can use to maintain momentum while also checking to see if it's safe to set up during the earlier stages of the match. Toxic is a nice option in the final slot that can be used to wear down defensive foes such as Cresselia and Porygon2, which would not take much from Scizor's STAB moves when it is not using Swords Dance.

Set Details
========

A Careful nature with maximum investment in HP is needed to make Scizor as specially bulky as possible. Allocating 204 EVs into Special Defense allows Mega Scizor to survive two Thunderbolt from Life Orb Thundurus. Maximum Special Defense investment can also be used so that Hydro Pump Greninja only has a 2% chance to 2HKO Mega Scizor. Scizorite should be used with the given spread, as it offers Scizor significantly more bulk to ease setup. Lum Berry is an option to grab a boost before getting crippled by burn or paralysis. Light Metal can be used if using Mega Scizor, but Technician should always be the ability for Scizor when it is running Lum Berry.

Usage Tips
========

Swords Dance and Iron Defense Scizor function very differently; Swords Dance Scizor is used like a sweeper, while the Iron Defense variant relies more on Toxic to stall out the foe. Scizor can easily set up on Pokemon that cannot touch it, such as Fairy-types like non-Hidden Power Fire Sylveon and Mega Gardevoir. When running Iron Defense, Scizor can set up on special attackers to prevent physical threats such as Garchomp and Landorus-T from threatening it out when they switch in. Scizor should be sent in to sponge powerful special attacks, notably from Gengar, Greninja, and Mega Gardevoir, and proceed to set up on them. Due to the little investment in Defense, Scizor is rather vulnerable to physical attacks without Iron Defense boosts. Iron Defense works best with Toxic on the same set, as the lack of Attack investment means Bullet Punch won't be threatening.

Team Options
========

Gliscor makes for a fantastic partner for Scizor, having good physical bulk and functioning as a decent status absorber, while Scizor can easily help Gliscor take super effective Ice- and Water-type attacks. Slowbro is another nice physical wall to cover Scizor's physical weakness and helps Scizor remove Fire-types such as Blaziken and Talonflame with relative ease. Mega Kangaskhan appreciates Scizor's ability to remove Rocky Helmet from Cresselia and Eviolite from Porygon2 so that Kangashan has an easier time breaking through physical walls that annoy it. Azumarill works great with Scizor due to its ability to come in on many Electric-, Grass-, and Poison-type attacks, while Azumarill can help absorb Fire-type attacks and retaliate with powerful STAB moves. Talonflame doesn't offer as much defensive synergy as Azumarill, but it still resists Fire and is able to revenge kill Blaziken. Physically defensive Rotom-W also has very nice synergy with Scizor, being able to cripple physical threats to allow Scizor more opportunities to set up while potentially completing a VoltTurn core if Scizor is using U-turn.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Lum Berry is a viable option over Choice Band if you don't wish to be locked into one move, allowing Scizor to better check Gengar without fearing burn and remove items from Rotom-W and Thundurus before receiving nasty status. Scizorite is a viable option over Choice Band that gives Scizor the option to freely switch moves and a great increase in bulk at the cost of some power. Occa Berry can be used in conjunction with Counter to score surprising KOs against certain foes such as Fire Fang Garchomp and Mega Mawile. Leftovers is a viable option when running maximum Special Defense if you wish to bring Scizor along with another Mega Evolution. Quick Attack is another priority move boosted by Technician that allows Scizor to hit foes that resist Bullet Punch such as Talonflame, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona. Feint functions in a similar manner to Quick Attack but with a higher priority bracket, allowing Scizor to hit Talonflame before it can use Brave Bird or Roost. Aerial Ace is a Technician-boosted move that can be used in the last slot to hit Breloom, Chesnaught, Heracross, and Blaziken on the switch for super effective damage. Facade is an option to take advantage of status such as burn and paralysis so Scizor can deal massive damage to Rotom-W, which often takes advantage of a burned Scizor and stays in. Finally, a Jolly nature is an option over Adamant to hit neutral Speed Heatran with Superpower, but be aware that some Heatran run Timid anyway.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Dangerous Fire-types such as Blaziken, Heatran, Talonflame, Mega Charizard X and Y, and Volcarona are all able to freely use Scizor as setup bait while Scizor can't do anything in return. Talonflame and some Mega Charizard X variants are also able to freely spam Will-O-Wisp.

**Electric-types**: Zapdos resists Scizor's STAB types and has access to Heat Wave, Magnezone can trap Scizor and eliminate it with Hidden Power Fire, and Mega Manectric has access to Intimidate and Flamethrower and Overheat. Bulky Thundurus with Nasty Plot and, potentially, Taunt also poses a huge threat to Scizor.

**Water-types**: Scizor can't do much to Suicune and risks getting a Scald burn, Rotom-W is able to cripple Scizor with Will-O-Wisp, and Gyarados has Intimidate, resists Scizor's STAB types, and can freely set up on it.

**Steel-types**: Aegislash and Skarmory can easily wall Scizor with their astronomical Defense, Mega Mawile has Intimidate and access to Fire Fang to threaten Scizor, and Heatran is able to outspeed and Scizor OHKO it with its Fire-type STAB move of choice.

**Mega Salamence**: Intimidate and its Dragon / Flying typing allow Salamence to freely set up on Scizor, (AC) while its access to utility moves such as Roost and Substitute means Scizor won't be able to do much back even after a Swords Dance boost.

**Mega Sableye**: Due to its typing and Magic Bounce ability, Mega Sableye doesn't take much from any of Scizor's coverage moves, and it can threaten to burn or proceed to set up Calm Mind.

**Burn Inducers**: Common Will-O-Wisp users include Rotom-W, Talonflame, and Gengar. Scizor relies on physical moves for damage output most of the time, so a burn will severely decrease Scizor's ability to deal damage while also putting a timer on it.

The first set's EVs need some tweaking, as they make Landorus-T's Earthquake a 3HKO against non-Mega Scizor. You actually don't need any EVs to make that the case against Mega Scizor:

252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Scizor: 73-87 (41.2 - 49.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Mega Scizor: 55-66 (31 - 37.2%) -- 74.1% chance to 3HKO
252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Scizor: 58-69 (40 - 47.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Mega Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 116 SpD Scizor: 87-103 (49.1 - 58.1%) -- 98.4% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Mega Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 116 SpD Mega Scizor: 75-88 (42.3 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

For the Physically Defensive set, is there any reason the remaining 4 EVs are placed into Speed instead of Attack?
I'm getting different calcs to you for some reason (if someone can double check):

Scizor
252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Scizor: 99-117 (55.9 - 66.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Mega Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 116 SpD Scizor: 87-103 (49.1 - 58.1%) -- 98.4% chance to 2HKO

Mega Scizor
252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Mega Scizor: 75-88 (42.3 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Mega Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 116 SpD Mega Scizor: 75-88 (42.3 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Moved 4 EVs to Attack, thanks!

-However, Scizor can Baton Pass useful boosts like Swords Dance and Iron Defense onto the team which is a nice utility over the other Steel-types. i dont think you should mention this since baton pass isnt on any of the sets

i think its worth mentioning somewhere in the overview it has access to good priority and thats always nice especially for a slow mon

evs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 204 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

-Swords Dance is used to boost Scizor's attack quickly as it wouldn't be able to do much damage due to lack of investment in Attack.
-Iron Defense may be used over Swords Dance as the setup move of choice, which makes Scizor very hard to take down after a single boost.
-Roost provides Scizor with an instant recovery to 50% of its health to allow more opportunities to setup.
-Knock Off offers nice coverage for what? used alongside Bullet Punch and is mainly used to remove foes that heavily rely on their item.
-U-turn is a strong STAB Scizor can use to maintain momentum while also checking to see if it's safe to setup during the early stages of the match.
-Toxic is a nice option in the final slot which can be used to wear down defensive foes such as? who would not take much from Scizor's STAB when not using Swords Dance.

Set Details
========

-Careful nature with maximum investment in HP is needed to make Scizor as specially defensive as possible.
-204 points in Special Defense allows Mega Scizor to survive two Thunderbolt from Life Orb Thundurus.
-Max Special Defense can also be used so that Hydro Pump Greninja only has a 2% chance to 2HKO Mega Scizor.
-Scizorite should be used with the given spread as it offers Scizor significantly more bulk to ease setup.
-Leftovers is a viable option when using maximum Special Defense if you wish to bring Scizor along with another Mega Evolution.
-Light Metal can be used if using Mega Scizor but Technician should always be the primary ability for normal Scizor.

Usage Tips
========

-Swords Dance and Iron Defense functions very differently, Swords Dance is used mainly like a sweeper, while the Iron Defense variants relies more on Toxic stalling the opponents.
-Scizor can easily setup on Pokemon that it cannot touch, such as Fairy-types like Sylveon and Mega Gardevoir, but must becareful of HP Fire. mention some mons that you can set up IDs on, fairies are usually special so it'd be nice to get a good idea of what iron defense is normally used for
-Scizor should be sent in to sponge powerful special attacks, notably from Gengar, Greninja, Mega Gardevoir and proceed to setup on them.
-Due to no investment in Defense, this makes Scizor rather vulnerable to physical attacks without Iron Defense boosts.
-Iron Defense works best with Toxic on the same set, since having no Attack investment means Bullet Punch won't be threatening.

Team Options
========

-Gliscor makes a good partner for Scizor, having good physical bulk and also a decent status absorber, while Scizor can help Gliscor take super effective special attacks.
-Slowbro is another great physical wall to complement specially defensive Scizor's weakness, and helps Scizor remove Fire-types such as Blaziken and Talonflame.
-Mega Kangaskhan appreciates Scizor's ability to remove Rocky Helmet Cresselia, and Eviolite from Porygon2 so that Kangashan has an easier time with physical walls.
-Azumarill is great with Scizor, due to its ability to come in on many Electric-, Grass- and Poison-type attacks while Azumarill can help absorb Fire-type attacks.
-Physically defensive Rotom-W also has nice synergy with Scizor, being able to cripple physical threats to allow Scizor more opportunities to set up.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

-Bullet Punch is Scizor's main STAB which also has priority to pick off weakened targets and hits Fairy-types for decent damage even without investment.
-U-turn is Scizor's other STAB option allowing Scizor to gain more favorable matchups against its check and counters through switching out.
-Roost is necessary to heal off damage as it allows Scizor to further deal damage to physical threats such as Mega Kangaskhan through Rockey Helmet damage.
-Toxic should be used in the fourth slot because it can help Scizor wear down defensive foes such as? especially since Scizor has no other means to do so.
-Knock Off is an alternative to Toxic which removes items from opposing foes while at the same time offering some coverage for those that resists the Bug and Steel coverage. such as?

Set Details
========

-An Impish nature is used as well as max investment in HP and Defense in order to make most use of Rocky Helmet while being able to take on physical attackers.
-Rocky Helmet is the main item on this set as physical attackers will be taking extra damage whenever they attack. probably make a quick mention of how its extra good against kanga
-Scizorite is an alternative to Rocky Helmet which gives Scizor a large boost in Defense and Special Defense but lack the passive damage from Rocky Helmet.
-Technician is Scizor's best ability and should always be used over other abilities unless using Mega Scizor in which case Light Metal can be used.

Usage Tips
========

-Scizor can be sent in on powerful physical threats such as Mega Heracross, Mega Kangaskhan and Mamoswine.
-U-turn should always have priority over Roost (if you're at decent health. what you said there isnt always true. if scizor is low and you might really need scizor then roosting can be okay but at close to full u-turning is good) in case there is a Fire-type at the back as Scizor cannot afford to stay in for them to allow them potential free boosts.
-As this set lacks any Attack investment with no boosting moves, it heavily relies on Toxic and Rocky Helmet to do most of the damage.
-Status such as burn, paralysis and confusion from Swagger, doesn't cripple Scizor as much as other sets due to the passive damage Rocky Helmet and toxic still offers.
-Despite not having any investment in Special Defense, Scizor is still able to beat Fairy-types such as Mega Gardevoir.

Team Options
========

-Raikou forms a nice VoltTurn core with Scizor, due to its ability to switch into powerful Earthquakes while Raikou while Scizor spread Toxic.
-Mega Kangaskhan pairs well with Scizor due to its ability to counter Cresselia, who is one of the best checks to Kangaskhan.
-Salamence enjoys the removal of Mamoswine, while Intimidate also helps Scizor take sponge more physical attacks to allow more damage from Rocky Helmet.
-Volcarona makes a decent partner with Scizor, as Chansey's is a huge threat while Scizor can Knock Off its item or cripple it with Toxic.
-Scizor can help Mega Charizard X take on Landorus-T and cripple Hippowdon, Unaware Quagsire with Toxic.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

-Life Orb and Scizorite are both viable options over Choice Band which gives you the option to freely switch moves at the cost of some power.
-Occa Berry in conjunction with Counter can be used to score surprising KO's against certain foes such as Garchomp and Mega Mawile with Fire Fang.
-Quick Attack is another priority boosted by Technician which allows you to hit foes that would otherwise resist Bullet Punch such as Talonflame, Charizard Y and Volcarona.
-Feint functions as a similar move to Quick Attack but with higher priority, allowing you outpace Talonflame before it can use Brave Bird or Roost.
-Bug Bite is a reliable STAB that is boosted by Technician, however it is generally not recommended because it doesn't offer Scizor momentum when Fire-types come in. you can take rotom-w sitrus berry too lol
-Aerial Ace is a usable move in the last slot to hit Breloom, Chestnaught and Blaziken on the switch for super effective damage. chunks heracross too

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Dangerous Fire-types such as Blaziken, Talonflame, Mega Charizard X and Y, Volcarona are able to use Scizor as setup bait while Scizor can’t do anything in return. and can throw out wisps pretty freely (talonflame at least)

**Electric-types**: Zapdos resists Scizor and has Heat Wave, Magnezone can trap and eliminate Scizor with HP Fire, Mega Manectric has access to Intimidate and Flamethrower, Overheat. bulky thund is probably annoying too, with NP or taunt

**Water-types**: Scizor can't do much to Suicune, Rotom-W is able to cripple Scizor with burn, Gyarados has Intimidate and can freely setup on Scizor. and scald burns are scary

**Steel-types**: Skarmory can easily wall Scizor, Mega Mawile has Intimidate and Fire Fang to threaten Scizor, Heatran is able to outspeed and OHKO with STAB.

**Mega Salamence**: Intimidate and typing allows Salamence to setup on Scizor while access to Roost means Scizor won’t be able to do much back even after Swords Dance.

**Mega Sableye**: Due to typing Mega Sableye doesn't take much from any of Scizor’s coverage moves while threatening to burn Scizor while it can set up Calm Mind.

**Burn**: Scizor relies on Technician and STAB to deal physical damage most of the time so a burn will severely decrease Scizor's ability to dish out damage while also putting a timer on Scizor.

You did a really damn fine job on this skeleton bobochan , you've clearly played with Scizor before! Just got a few nitpicks

-This is the biggest one: Life Orb. I've seen SD Life Orb Scizor before, and looking at the stats, apparently, Life Orb is used more than Leftovers (LO has been in the top 5 for two seasons, and seems to have a 5% increase this season). Personally, I'd either slash in Life Orb in on the Mega set (I dont think LO Scizor runs much bulk beyond max HP though), give it a mention in set details as an alternative when you already have a Mega, or move Leftovers to other options since it seems to be pretty uncommon.

-In the Overview, I'd mention that Roost itself is a big selling point over the common offensive steels like Aegislash and Mega Mawile, because it makes Scizor an offensive steel-type thats built to last! You already mention Roost as a selling point, but I think its made more clear when its shown as something other offensive steel-types dont have.

-I'd mention Talonflame in teammates. Doesn't offer quite as much synergy as Azumarill, but it still revenge kills Blaziken and resists Fire moves, which is always nice.

-When you mention Bug Bite in other options, mention that one benefit it has over U-turn is that since you don't switch it, you can use it as a Bug move that keeps your boosts.

-Strange as this sounds, I'd put Facade in Other Options. I actually once saw a Facade Mega Scizor, it absolutely destroyed my Rotom-W x_x

-Pretty uncommon, but you can run Jolly Mega Scizor to outspeed neutral speed Heatrans and hit them with Superpower. Probably good enough for an other options mention. Just note that most Heatran run Timid.

Otherwise, you got a really good handle on Scizor. After this stuff is implemented...

add charizard formes to the fire types that wall scizor in the overview, and make a mention of Thundurus and also probably Zapdos since they both resist all of Scizor's common moves and can win 1v1 pretty dang easily (Thund is important to include as it's pretty damn common, esp in the upper ladder). remove the mention of "a few" priority moves and just talk about Bullet Punch as it's the only relevant one (and is one of Scizor's best assets! it's often used as the main attack on SD sets, especially those with U-turn).

---

im honestly surprised that bug bite isn't a move on any set, particularly the SD set since U-turning out removes your boosts. I never understood why people run that.. when talking about Bullet Punch I would instead explain that it gets the technician boost and most importanly; allows Scizor to bypass it's low speed to help sweep against faster threats such as [insert fast mons here]. coverage against common fairies is just the icing on the cake. Scizor does't necessarily benefit from "Dark-type coverage" I think he just appreciates the neutral coverage that it provides alongside Bullet Punch (such as OHKOing Thundurus after a single SD etc.). I'm not sure that Mega Mawile is the best example of a Superpower target as it isn't even hit super-effectively by it. You also get annihilated by Fire Fang so staying in and attacking (unless you're at +3 attack) is a bad idea. Superpower is really only good for Steels, and the only common Steels are Aegi, Heatran, MMaw and Ferro and Superpower isn't saving you from any of those, Lucario is really the best target (maybe also Mega Kang) so it may even be worth dropping entirely and just making a mention in 'Moves'.

Make a mention of Technician as a possible ability for feigning a non-mega set (only relevant if your team has more than one potential mega and you don't wanna reveal / for some reason you need to bring both). It's something I do sometimes and Light Metal only has 1% usage so I don't think I'm alone...

Greninja and Porygon2 are really poor examples of Hidden Power Fire users, especially the latter. Sylveon also opts for HP Ground way more often. Hidden Power Fire is actually a really rare type in BSS, the only users I can think of are Mega Venusaur and Serperior, the latter of which can only 2HKO and is destroyed by your Bug-STAB.

Thundurus isnt the best option as the first thing you list in team options imo, it doesnt even show up in Scizor's top 12 teammates! Scizor doesn't desperately need paralysis support since it has BUllet Punch, and Thundurus (while beating CharY in a 1v1) cannot switch in. I think he's ok to leave in but maybe move him to the end. You only mention Latios as far as Dragons go, but Scizor matches up with pretty much all the Dragons (Chomp + Dragonite esp), maybe mention them. However Scizor is mostly complimentary to them as a way to deal with Ice + Fairy types rather than them take on Scizor's weaknesses, as Dragons are usually the stars of the show. Good to mention those Fairies at the end, perhaps mention them right after the Dragon's and hint at the possible Dragon-Fairy-Steel core that players could make (a very popular core).

---

Choice Band cleanly OHKOes Heatran, which sounds way more impressive than "huge damage".

Again, I agree that Chansey is a good teammate but it's not very commonly used with each other (neither are in their top 12s). Maybe save Chansey for later, especially since Chansey benefits from Scizor's presense more than Scizor does Chansey's. Saying Thundurus "makes a decent check to Fire-type sweepers" isn't toally accurate since Thundurus doesn't resist Fire or is known as a 'Fire-type check', perhaps just explain that Thundurus is helpful for being able to get off a Prankster T wave off against Pokemon such as [targets]. If Thund dies and all it's done to those is T wave and you have Scizor left then Scizor still loses which is why I don't like it being represented like it's an ~amazing~ partner. Add Mega Salemence as a great partner, any non-Mega Scizor pairs with him.

---

where did you get the specially defensive set from? in my experience they aren't mega or SD, I personally run Lum on mine with this build:

Scizor @ Lum Berry
Ability: Technician
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 52 Def / 180 SpD / 20 Spe
Careful Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Pursuit
- Roost

I'm not suggesting this should be the set, but mainly for comparison. I can't remember what the EVs are for but the 20 Spe outspeed something, and we both have 52 Def so that must survive something. I think we can drop the boosting moves, have BP first, bug STAB second, [Dark move] third and Roost fourth. I'm really not sure about specially defensive Mega since it eats your mega slot and defensive Megas aren't so good unless you're Slowbro imo. I guess we need to decide whether we want the 'Specially Defensive' build to be a bulky booster or a defensive check...

I dont like this sentence:
Life Orb is an alternative if you already plan to bring other Megas to the match, and should be used with Swords Dance along with an Adamant nature while moving its Defense and Special Defense EVs to Attack for maximum damage output.
You're suggesting changing from a specially defensive set to an offensive LO set in set details..? that's a completely different set and shouldn't be mentioned at all there.

team options are good though

---

Heatran needs to be added to "Fire-type checks" and Thundurus needs to be added to "Flying-type checks" as it's basically a better Zapdos and should therefore be mentioned before it also. Aegislash can be added to Steels as well. List common burn inducers, you can just explain that burn sucks.

---

I'll hold off on giving the 3/3 until we figure out what's going on with the SpD set.

[OVERVIEW]

Scizor is arguably one of the best momentum grabbers in Battle Spot Singles thanks to its high Attack and STAB U-turn which that allows you to keep up offensive pressure. Scizor can fulfill a variety of roles such as a setup sweeper, revenge killer, (AC) and physical or special sponge, yet but it is generally found on balance and stall teams mainly due to its low Speed but superb defensive typing. Having access to priority move in Technician-boosted Bullet Punch which is boosted by Technician really helps a slow Pokemon like Scizor. With only one weakness in Fire and excellent bulk, Scizor is able to switch into many powerful special attackers such as Mega Gardevoir, Sylveon, Gengar, (AC) and Latios. Its Mega Evolution further increases Scizor's already impressive defenses, (AC) and with a reliable recovery in Roost makes Scizor extremely difficult to take down without a Fire-type move. However, Scizor is often at the mercy of Fire-types commonly seen on Battle Spot such as Blaziken, Talonflame, and Mega Charizard X and Y, as they are all able to get a free turn without being threatened. Other dangerous foes include Zapdos and Thundurus, (AC) which can both beat Scizor 1v1 one-on-one. Scizor is often seen as outclassed by other powerful Steel-types in the metagame such as Aegislash and Mega Mawile, with both having better typing and overall more powerful, but having access to Roost, (AC) which the other offensive Steel-types lack, (AC) allows Scizor to last much longer in battle.

Moves
========

Swords Dance is required on Scizor due to its relatively limited coverage options outside of its STAB moves and to make Scizor more threatening. Roost is a reliable recovery which increases Scizor's longevity to allow more switch-ins or grab more boosts with Swords Dance. Bullet Punch is Scizor's STAB move of choice, (AC) which as it gets boosted by Technician and is very spammable against Fairy-types such as Sylveon and Mega Gardevoir. Thanks to the priority, (AC) Scizor doesn't need to worry about its low Speed to sweep against faster threats like Gengar and Mamoswine. Knock Off provides Scizor with Dark-type coverage to hit things threats such as Aegislash (RC) and Gengar and gets rid of their item for non-Mega variants of Gengar; (SC) which it can also OHKO Thundurus after one Swords Dance boost. U-turn can be used over Knock Off to allow Scizor to scout for Fire-types so that the team can have a better matchup against potentially dangerous threats. Bug Bite is a reliable STAB move that is boosted by Technician and more powerful than U-turn; (SC) however, (AC) it is generally not recommended because it doesn't offer Scizor momentum when Fire-types come in. (AP) although Nevertheless, (AC) it does remove potential berry users Berries from Pokemon such as Sitrus Berry Rotom-W. Another benefit of using Bug Bite over U-turn is that and allows Scizor gets to keep its boosts during the match. Superpower is a viable option in the last slot to hit Mega Kangaskhan, Ferrothorn and Mega Lucario.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in HP for makes Scizor to be as bulky as possible since because Speed isn't that important with priority moves and reliable recovery. Allocating 28 EVs into Defense allows Scizor to live survive two Earthquakes from Adamant Landorus-T while 116 Special Defense EVs helps Scizor help it survive 2 two Shadow Balls from maximum Special Attack Mega Gengar. The rest of the EVs are is allocated into Attack to allow Scizor to benefit as much as possible from an Adamant nature. Given how the mechanics of EVs work at level 50, the remaining 4 points should be allocated to Speed so no points are being wasted. Scizorite is necessary, (AC) as it not only improves Scizor's defenses (RC) but also makes Scizor it less susceptible to moves such as Knock Off and Trick. Life Orb is an alternative if you already plan to bring other Mega Evolutions (RC) and should be used with a bulkier more offensive (I think?) spread of 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe for maximum damage output. This setup offers Scizor massive offensive potential at the cost of significant bulk. Technician is not only the best ability for Scizor in general, (AC) but by feigning it also lets you feign a non-Mega Scizor set, (AC) which is especially useful if your team has more than one potential Mega Evolution which you don't plan to reveal yet. However, (AC) Light Metal is a viable alternative prior to Mega Evolution, (AC) as Scizor will take less damage for moves such as Low Kick when switching in.

Usage Tips
========

Don't bring Scizor into the match if Team Preview is very unfavorable, usually if such as when half the team is a major threat, like seeing when you see Salamence, Volcarona, (AC) and Suicune on one team. However, Scizor does have a favorable matchup against Trick Room teams, as because of its ability to remove Cresselia (RC) and being slow its low Speed, but it must be aware wary of Heatran. Always Mega Evolve Scizor as early as possible, especially when running Light Metal because Scizor really needs the extra bulk from its evolution. Scizor may be used as a lead if there are no Fire-types since because it has a good matchup against other potential leads such as Landorus-T, Mamoswine, (AC) and Ferrothorn and is able to U-turn out to maintain momentum against these foes. Swords Dance should only be used in later stages when most of the opponent's team has been revealed, (AC) especially when running Knock Off or Superpower over U-turn. Never overestimate Mega Scizor's bulk, (AC) by and always scouting for potential Hidden Power Fire from common users such as Mega Venusaur and Serperior; (SC) however, (AC) the latter can only OHKO at +2 and is destroyed by Mega Scizor's Bug-type STAB moves.

Team Options
========

Latios and Scizor have near-perfect (add hyphen) synergy, with Latios taking on Fire-types and Scizor takes taking on Dragon- and Fairy-types while also eliminating Dark-types which that threaten Latios like Tyranitar. Spamming Choice Specs Draco Meteor on with Latios could also potentially weaken the opposing team enough for Scizor to sweep. Garchomp is able to provide Stealth Rock support while Scizor comfortably takes Ice- and Fairy-type attacks. Dragonite is able to set(space)up on every Fire-type that takes out Scizor while not without fearing status as much due to Lum Berry. Powerful Fairy-types such as Mega Gardevoir and Sylveon helps Scizor can eliminate Mega Sableye, one of Scizor's main checks, which also forms while also completing a popular Dragon / Fairy / Steel (dashes to slashes) core. Tyranitar helps Scizor eliminate Talonflame and Mega Charizard Y, while also and has the ability to reset change the weather to sand, (AC) which is more favorable to Scizor. Blaziken is able to Baton Pass Speed boosts to Scizor, who which could really use the Speed since because it's so slow, while Scizor has a better matchup against Azumarill and Slowbro, (AC) which all threaten Blaziken. Gastrodon is a counter to many Electric-types such as Mega Manectric and Raikou, while also getting and gets Special Attack boosts from Scalds aimed at Scizor. Thundurus pairs well with Scizor due to because its paralysis support as Scizor has really helps alleviate Scizor's low Speed, while also eliminating and it can eliminiate Flying-types like Talonflame and Charizard Y with relative ease.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Bullet Punch is a key move on Scizor, providing it provides Scizor with a powerful STAB move, priority, (AC) and revenge killing capabilities on Fairy-types and weakened teams. U-turn is a must for Scizor, (AC) as it cannot afford to stay in on potential Fire-types while being locked into one move and ensures momentum is maintained to allow a more positive matchup. Superpower is able to OHKO Mega Kangaskhan and Heatran (RC) and cleanly achieving achieves the 2HKO on other threats such as Mega Mawile and Porygon2. Knock Off is able to cripple switch-ins by removing their items such as Leftovers, (comma) Rocky Helmet, (comma) and Eviolite while at the same time dealing a nice amount of damage. Pursuit can be used over Knock Off as an alternative Dark-type coverage move which that can trap Gengar and Latios while and also helps weaken bulky Psychic-types like Cresselia.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in HP and Attack with an Adamant nature allows Scizor to hit as hard as possible while not without losing much bulk. The remaining 4 EVs are not as important but can be allocated to Speed to outspeed other uninvested Scizor. Choice Band is the most best-suited item for this set; along with Scizor's high base Attack, (AC) it can allows it to dish out huge amounts of damage with its STAB moves alone. Technician should be used over any other abilities when using non-Mega Scizor since because Bullet Punch can benefit lots greatly from the ability.

Usage Tips
========

If there is a lack of are no Fire-types in Team Preview, Scizor makes a decent lead to hit the opponent foe hard with an appropriate move. U-turn should always be used at the early stages to scout for potential checks and counters, (AC) as Scizor cannot afford to be Choice locked into Bullet Punch on resisted foes that resist it. As this set doesn't have the bulk and recovery to take repeated hits, it's (apostrophe) best to send it out on Fairy-types and other defensive foes like Cresselia and Ferrothorn or come in on a free turn. It might also be a good idea to use U-turn on obvious switches against Fairy-types since because there is no drawback in doing so which and it will help weaken the opponent's team enough for Bullet Punch to clean.

Team Options
========

Landorus-T forms a nice U-turn core with Scizor, as Scizor takes Ice-type attacks while Landorus-T helps eliminate Fire-types with its EdgeQuake combination. Garchomp provides Stealth Rock support (RC) while also eliminating Heatran and Magnezone, which are huge threats to Scizor. Hydreigon enjoys Fairy-types being threatened and removed by Scizor since it has a 4x weakness while Hydreigon can threaten threatening Scizor's checks through sheer power in return. Rotom-W is a nice teammate for Scizor, (AC) being able to take on Fire-types well while forming a solid VoltTurn core. Mega Salamence pairs well with non-Mega Scizor, (AC) being able to threaten opposing physical Fire-types with Intimidate. Chansey appreciates Scizor's ability to Pursuit trap Gengar, one of Chansey's counters, while easily absorbing special Fire-type moves aimed at Scizor. Thundurus is helpful for being able to paralyze Fire-type sweepers such as Blaziken, Mega Charizard X, (AC) and Volcarona with Prankster Thunder Wave (RC) while also eliminating Talonflame (RC) and Mega Charizard Y for Scizor to function with less fear.

Moves
========

Bullet Punch is Scizor's main STAB which move and also has priority to pick off weakened targets, (AC) and it hits Fairy-types for decent damage even without investment. U-turn is Scizor's secondary STAB move, (AC) allowing Scizor it to gain more favorable matchups against its checks and counters through switching out as they switch in. Roost is necessary to heal off damage, (AC) as it allows allowing Scizor to further rack up damage to physical threats such as Mega Kangaskhan through Rockey Rocky Helmet. Toxic should be used in the fourth slot because it can help Scizor wear down defensive foes such as Garchomp and Landorus-T, (AC) especially since because this Scizor has no other means to do so otherwise. However, (AC) Knock Off is a viable alternative to Toxic which that removes items from opposing foes while at the same time offering some coverage for those that resists the Bug and Steel, (AC) coverage like Thundurus and Heatran, (AC) on the switch.

Set Details
========

An Impish nature is used as well as maximum investment in HP and Defense in order to make get most use of Rocky Helmet to be able to and take on physical attackers as effectively as possible. Rocky Helmet is the main item on this set, (AC) as it inflicts extra damage on physical attackers will be taking extra damage whenever they attack, which is especially helpful against Mega Kangaskhan due to Parental Bond hitting letting it hit twice every turn. Scizorite is an alternative to Rocky Helmet which that gives Scizor a large boost in Defense and Special Defense, (AC) but lack losing the passive damage from Rocky Helmet may be unappealing. Technician is Scizor's best ability and should always be used over other abilities unless you're using Mega Scizor, (AC) in which case Light Metal can be used to soften damage from attacks like Low Kick.

Usage Tips
========

Scizor can be sent in on powerful physical attackers such as Mega Heracross, Mega Kangaskhan, (AC) and Mamoswine. U-turn should always have priority over Roost if Scizor is decently healthy, in case there is a Fire-type at the back as Scizor cannot afford to stay in to on and potentially allow them free boosts. As this set lacks any Attack investment with no and doesn't run any boosting moves, it heavily relies on Toxic and Rocky Helmet to do most of the damage. Status such as burn, paralysis, (AC) and confusion from Swagger (RC) doesn't cripple this Scizor as much as other sets due to the passive damage Rocky Helmet and Toxic still offers. Despite not having any investment in Special Defense, Scizor is still able to beat Fairy-types such as Mega Gardevoir.

Team Options
========

Raikou forms a nice VoltTurn core with Scizor (RC) due to its the latter's ability to switch into powerful Earthquakes for Raikou while Scizor can being able to spread Toxic to weaken Raikou's checks. Mega Kangaskhan pairs well with Scizor due to its ability to counter Cresselia, who which is one of the best checks to Kangaskhan. Salamence enjoys the removal of Mamoswine, while Intimidate also helps Scizor take physical attacks better to rack up more damage from Rocky Helmet. Volcarona makes a decent partner with Scizor, as Chansey's is a huge threat while to it and Scizor can Knock Off its item or cripple it with Toxic. Scizor can help Mega Charizard X take on Landorus-T (RC) and cripple Hippowdon and Unaware Quagsire with Toxic, (AC) which are major nuisances to Mega Charizard X.

Moves

Swords Dance is used to boost Scizor's Attack quickly, (AC) as it wouldn't be able to do much damage due to the lack of investment in Attack. Iron Defense may be used over Swords Dance as an alternative setup move, which that makes Scizor very hard to take down from either side with both physical and special attacks after a single boost. Roost provides Scizor with an instant recovery to 50% of its health to allow more opportunities to set(space)up. (Bullet Punch?) Knock Off offers nice coverage against Ghost-types like Aegislash and is mainly used to threaten Fire-type switch-ins that carries carry items. U-turn is a strong STAB Scizor can use to maintain momentum while also checking to see if it's safe to set(space)up during the earlier stages of the match. Toxic is a nice option in the final slot which that can be used to wear down defensive foes such Cresselia and Porygon2, (AC) who which would not take much from Scizor's STAB moves when it is not using Swords Dance.

Set Details
========

A Careful nature with maximum investment in HP is needed to make Scizor as specially defensive bulky as possible. Allocating 204 EVs into Special Defense allows Mega Scizor to survive two Thunderbolt from Life Orb Thundurus. Maximum Special Defense investment can also be used so that Hydro Pump Greninja only has a 2% chance to 2HKO Mega Scizor. Scizorite should be used with the given spread, (AC) as it offers Scizor significantly more bulk to ease setup. Lum Berry is an option to grab a boost before getting crippled by burn or paralysis. Light Metal can be used if using Mega Scizor, (AC) but Technician should always be the primary ability for Scizor when it is running Lum Berry.

Usage Tips
========

Swords Dance and Iron Defense are two boosting moves which functions Scizor function very differently; (SC) Swords Dance Scizor is used like a sweeper, while the Iron Defense variants variant relies more on Toxic to stall out the opponents foe. Scizor can easily setup on Pokemon that it cannot touch it, (presumably?) such as Fairy-types like non-Hidden Power Fire Sylveon and Mega Gardevoir, but must be aware of Hidden Power Fire. When running Iron Defense, Scizor can set(space)up on special attackers so that when to prevent physical threats such as Garchomp and Landorus-T switch in, they will no longer be able to threaten from threatening it out Scizor when they switch in. Scizor should be sent in to sponge powerful special attacks, notably from Gengar, Greninja, and Mega Gardevoir, (AC) and proceed to set up on them. Due to the little investment in Defense, this makes Scizor is rather vulnerable to physical attacks without Iron Defense boosts. Iron Defense works best with Toxic on the same set, since having no as the lack of Attack investment means Bullet Punch won't be threatening.

Team Options
========

Gliscor makes a fantastic partner for Scizor, having good physical bulk and also functioning as a decent status absorber, while Scizor can easily help Gliscor take super effective Ice- and Water-type attacks. Slowbro is another nice physical wall to complement cover Scizor's physical weakness on the physical side, and helps Scizor remove Fire-types such as Blaziken and Talonflame with relative ease. Mega Kangaskhan appreciates Scizor's ability to remove Rocky Helmet Cresselia (RC) and remove (assuming Scizor outright KOes Cresselia rather than remove its item; otherwise, use "remove Rocky Helmet from Cresselia and Eviolite from Porygon2) Eviolite from Porygon2 so that Kangashan has an easier time breaking through physical walls that annoy it. Azumarill is works great with Scizor (RC) due to its ability to come in on many Electric-, Grass- and Poison-type attacks while Azumarill can help absorb Fire-type attacks then and retaliate with powerful STAB moves. Talonflame doesn't offer as much defensive synergy as Azumarill, however but it still resists Fire-types and is able to revenge kill Blaziken. Physically defensive Rotom-W also has nice very nice synergy with Scizor, being able to cripple physical threats to allow Scizor more opportunities to set up while potentially forming the completing a VoltTurn core if Scizor is using U-turn.

Lum Berry is a viable option over Choice Band if you don't wish to be choice locked into one move, (AC) and will allowing Scizor to better check Gengar without fearing burn and remove items from Rotom-W and Thundurus before receiving nasty status. Scizorite is a viable option over Choice Band which that gives you Scizor the option to freely switch moves and a great increase in bulk at the cost of some power but offers much more bulk. Occa Berry can be used in conjunction with Counter to score surprising KOs (remove apostrophe) against certain foes such as Fire Fang Garchomp and Mega Mawile which carry Fire Fang. Leftovers are is a viable option when running maximum Special Defense if you wish to bring Scizor along with another Mega Evolution. Quick Attack is another priority move boosted by Technician which that allows you Scizor to hit foes that would otherwise resist Bullet Punch such as Talonflame, Mega Charizard Y, (AC) and Volcarona. Feint functions in a similar manner to Quick Attack but with a higher priority bracket, allowing you outpace Scizor to hit Talonflame before it can use Brave Bird or Roost. Aerial Ace is a Technician-boosted (add hyphen) move whicah that can be used in the last slot to hit Breloom, Chestnaught Chesnaught, Heracross, (AC) and Blaziken on the switch for super effective damage. Facade is an option to take advantage of status such as Burns burn and paralysis so it Scizor can deal massive damage to Rotom-W, (AC) which often takes advantage of a burnt burned Scizor and stays in. Finally, a Jolly nature is an option of Adamant to hit neutral Speed Heatran with Superpower, (AC) but be aware that some Heatran run Timid anyway.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Dangerous Fire-types such as Blaziken, Heatran, Talonflame, Mega Charizard X and Y, and Volcarona are all able to freely use Scizor as setup bait while Scizor can't do anything in return. Talonflame and some Mega Charizard X are also able to freely spam Will-O-Wisps.

**Electric-types**: Zapdos resists Scizor's STAB types and has access to Heat Wave, Magnezone can trap Scizor and eliminate Scizor it with Hidden Power Fire, Mega Manectric has access to Intimidate and Flamethrower (RC) and Overheat. Bulky Thundurus with Nasty Plot and, (AC) potentially, (AC) running Taunt also poses a huge threat to Scizor.

**Water-types**: Scizor can't do much to Suicune while and risks getting a Scald burn is never a good thing for a physical attacker, Rotom-W is able to cripple Scizor with burn Will-O-Wisp, and Gyarados has Intimidate, (AC) and resists its dual Scizor's STAB types, and can freely set(space)up on Scizor it.

**Steel-types**: Aegislash and Skarmory can easily wall Scizor with its their astronomical Defense, Mega Mawile has Intimidate and access to Fire Fang to threaten Scizor, and Heatran is able to outspeed and OHKO Scizor with its Fire-type STAB move of choice and Aegislash.

**Mega Salamence**: Intimidate and its Dragon / Flying typing allows Salamence to freely set(space)up on Scizor while access to utility moves such as Roost and Substitute means Scizor won't (apostrophe) be able to do much back even after a Swords Dance boost.

**Mega Sableye**: Due to its typing and Magic Bounce ability, Mega Sableye doesn't take much from any of Scizor's (fix apostrophe) coverage moves while threatening to burn Scizor, (AC) and it can proceed to set up Calm Mind.

**Burn Inducers**: Common Will-O-Wisp users include Rotom-W, Talonflame, (AC) and Gengar. Scizor relies on Technician and STAB to deal physical damage (this seems irrelevant, why not just "Scizor relies on physical moves for damage output"?) most of the time, (AC) so a burn will severely decrease Scizor's ability to deal damage while also putting a timer on Scizor it.

Moves
========

Swords Dance is required on Scizor due to its relatively limited coverage options outside of its STAB moves and to make Scizor more threatening. Roost increases Scizor's longevity to allow it to switch in more switch-ins or to grab more boosts with Swords Dance. Superpower is a viable option in the last slot to hit Mega Kangaskhan, Ferrothorn, (AC) and Mega Lucario.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in HP makes Scizor as bulky as possible because Speed isn't that important with priority moves and reliable recovery. Allocating 28 EVs into Defense allows Scizor to survive two Earthquakes from Adamant Landorus-T, (AC) while 116 Special Defense EVs help it survive two Shadow Balls from maximum Special Attack Mega Gengar. The rest of the EVs are allocated into Attack to allow Scizor to benefit as much as possible from an Adamant nature. Given how the mechanics of EVs work at level 50, the remaining 4 should be allocated to Speed so no points are being wasted. Technician is not only is the best ability for Scizor in general, (RC) but it also lets you feign a non-Mega Scizor set, which is especially useful if your team has more than one potential Mega Evolution. However, Light Metal is a viable alternative prior to Mega Evolution, as Scizor will take less damage for from moves such as Low Kick when switching in.

Usage Tips
========

========

Moves
========

Bullet Punch provides Scizor with a powerful STAB move, priority, and revenge killing capabilities on against Fairy-types and weakened teams. Knock Off is able to cripple switch-ins by removing items such as Leftovers, Rocky Helmet, and Eviolite while at the same time dealing a nice amount of damage. Pursuit can be used over Knock Off as an alternative Dark-type coverage move that can trap Gengar and Latios and also helps weaken bulky Psychic-types like Cresselia.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

If there are no Fire-types in Team Preview, Scizor makes for a decent lead to hit the foe hard with an appropriate move. U-turn should always be used at the early stages to scout for potential checks and counters, as Scizor cannot afford to be Choice-locked into Bullet Punch against on foes that resist it.

========
