Scyther

[OVERVIEW]
High Attack and Speed make Scyther a potent offensive threat, and solid HP and defenses, especially when holding an Eviolite, provide Scyther with defensive utility as well, allowing it to switch into many of the tier's biggest threats such as Shiftry, Hariyama, Musharna, and Malamar. Scyther is also one of the best momentum grabbers in the tier with a strong and quick U-turn, especially when equipped with a Choice Scarf. With Choice Scarf, Scyther is a premier revenge killer, even outspeeding weather threats such as Swift Swim Ludicolo and Chlorophyll Victreebel. Scyther is also very versatile with the item it can run, as alongside Eviolite and Choice Scarf, it can use the Choice Band to become an incredibly powerful wallbreaker with its high Attack stat. From a defensive standpoint, its Bug / Flying typing allows Scyther to take powerful Fighting-type attacks from Pokemon such as Primeape and Hitmonchan; however, it makes Scyther 4x weak to Rock-type attacks and Stealth Rock. In a similar vein, despite 4x resisting both Grass and Fighting, Scyther is somewhat of an inconsistent check to Lilligant and Fighting-types such as Hariyama and Primeape, as all of these Pokemon commonly carry Rock-type coverage options. Its Bug / Flying typing also leaves Scyther weak to common attacking types such as Fire and Electric alongside Rock. Furthermore, if Scyther loses its Eviolite, it suddenly struggles to check the Pokemon it previously could with its increased bulk.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Swords Dance allows Scyther to boost its Attack to extremely high levels. U-turn is used over a stronger alternative in Bug Bite, as it allows Scyther to weaken its checks such as Rhydon and Steelix so that it can break through more easily in the late-game. U-turn is Scyther's most spammable move early- and mid-game, and it is also useful for stopping bulky Psychic- and Dark-types such as boosted Musharna and Malamar once Scyther has a Swords Dance under its belt. Aerial Ace is the best cleaning tool Scyther has access to, and its impressive mono-attacking coverage makes it a consistent sweeping tool. Lastly, Roost lets Scyther stay healthy throughout a battle and increases its longevity.

Set Details
========

248 HP EVs provide Scyther with as much mixed bulk as possible while also ensuring that it can switch into Stealth Rock at least twice. Maximum Speed with a Jolly nature is crucial to make sure Scyther outspeeds everything it can to U-turn out or sweep late-game. Eviolite is used to increase Scyther's already impressive bulk. Technician boosts Scyther's main cleaning tool, Aerial Ace, to an impressive 90 Base Power. Alternatively, a spread of 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe can be used, but this greatly decreases Scyther's bulk and the increase in Attack is only marginal after a Swords Dance boost is under its belt.

Usage Tips
========

Swords Dance Scyther is best used as a late-game sweeper once its checks and counters have been weakened or eliminated, but setting up early-game and weakening your opponent's check with U-turn is also a viable option. Scyther does have a strong early- and mid-game presence, though, as U-turn allows it to keep up momentum even before an Attack boost. Try to avoid sending out Scyther when Stealth Rock is up on your side of the field, as losing 50% of its HP often means Scyther is forced to use Roost instead of U-turn or Swords Dance, losing momentum. It is usually best to click Roost when Scyther is low on health, when you are attempting to dodge a Sucker Punch, or when removing Scyther's Flying typing is beneficial. An example of this situation would be Roosting to make Scyther neutral to a Lanturn's or Rotom's Volt Switch. Roost can also be used to stall out foes inflicted with burn or toxic if this is preferable to outright attacking them, such as when facing a burned Garbodor or Skuntank to avoid Aftermath recoil.

Team Options
========

Volt Switch users such as Lanturn and Rotom make for excellent partners alongside Scyther, as they help each other grab momentum and form a potent VoltTurn core. Rotom in particular deserves a mention, as it can burn bulky Rock- and Steel-types that give Scyther trouble, such as Rhydon and Steelix. Lanturn has terrific defensive synergy with Scyther and also tends to bait in Grass-types, which Scyther can capitalize on. Shiftry provides Defog support and takes down Rhydon and Steelix, as well as removing Garbodor's and Weezing's items, which makes the former no longer able to punish Scyther for spamming U-turn and the latter easier to wear down throughout the battle. Fighting-types such as Primeape and Hitmonchan work well with Scyther, as they can break through the bulky Rock- and Steel-types that Scyther despises. Hitmonchan in particular works well with Scyther, as it can also Rapid Spin away Stealth Rock, which is a nuisance to Scyther. Powerful wallbreakers such as Swellow, Samurott, and Abomasnow are good partners for Scyther, as they appreciate the free switches that Scyther provides for them with U-turn. Spinners and Defoggers such as Kabutops, Mantine, Pelipper, and Prinplup are necessary partners alongside Scyther, as Scyther's crippling weakness to Stealth Rock hinders it greatly. Conversely, Scyther really appreciates entry hazards, in particular Spikes, as they wear down bulky Rock- and Steel-types with ease, especially in conjunction with U-turn. Hazard setters such as Omastar, Crustle, and Garbodor are all viable partners.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

U-turn is the most spammable move on the set, providing momentum throughout the battle while also weakening Scyther's checks and counters such as Rhydon and Steelix. Aerial Ace provides good neutral coverage alongside U-turn and doesn't force Scyther to switch out. Knock Off hits most Pokemon that resist Scyther's STAB combination like Steelix, Rotom, and Klinklang hard, and it also has general utility in removing items and shortening bulkier Pokemon's longevity. Pursuit can be used over Knock Off if trapping Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Mesprit and Mismagius is more beneficial for the team. Quick Attack is a priority move boosted by Technician, and with a Choice Band it hits fairly hard. It is particularly useful for picking off faster weakened threats such as Pyroar, Floatzel, and Swellow.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed investment with a Jolly nature allows Scyther to hit as hard and fast as possible, while the remaining 4 EVs are put into Defense instead of HP to allow Scyther to switch in on Stealth Rock at least twice. Technician powers up Aerial Ace while also making Pursuit fairly powerful. Choice Band is used to maximize Scyther's immediate power and has terrific synergy with U-turn.

Usage Tips
========

U-turn is the move you want to click most often, especially early-and mid-game, as it not only weakens Scyther's check and counters but also provides momentum. Scyther does not have access to reliable recovery in Roost and has only average bulk, so avoid switching it into anything other than resisted attacks such as Primeape's Close Combat and Lilligant's Giga Drain. Beware of crippling status moves such as Thunder Wave from Pokemon Scyther usually has little trouble switching in on, such as Xatu, Musharna, and Mesprit. Be very cautious when clicking Quick Attack, as being locked into it can often leave you at a disadvantage. It is best to use Pursuit when the opposing Pokemon doesn't threaten to either status or KO Scyther. For example, using Pursuit on a Rotom locked into Shadow Ball is usually safe, but clicking Pursuit versus a Rotom with Colbur Berry that can still burn or use Thunderbolt on Scyther is often suboptimal.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard removal support is necessary for Scyther, as it is 4x weak to Stealth Rock and has no means of recovery, so Pokemon that can remove hazards such as Claydol, Mantine, Hitmonchan, and Prinplup are solid partners. Each of these hazard removers provides different alternate uses for Scyther, as Claydol can switch in on Rhydon, Garbodor and Weezing; Mantine and Prinplup have great defensive synergy with Scyther, and Hitmonchan breaks down bulky Rock- and Steel-types for Scyther. Scyther greatly appreciates having hazards on the opponent's side of the field, so hazard setters like Ferroseed, Steelix, and Garbodor work well. Volt Switch and U-turn users such as Rotom, Lanturn, and Swellow can form terrifying VoltTurn cores alongside Scyther that keep momentum up throughout a battle. Fighting-types such as Hitmonchan, Primeape, and Hariyama are all fantastic partners alongside Scyther, as they can break through the Rock- and Steel-types that plague Scyther and appreciate the free switches it provides with U-turn. Since Choice Band Scyther is a solid wallbreaker in its own right, late-game cleaners such as Klinklang, Barbaracle, and Lilligant make for quality partners.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf

move 2: Aerial Ace
move 3: Knock Off
move 4: Bug Bite / Tailwind
item: Choice Scarf

evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

U-turn provides momentum and weakens Scyther's checks and counters for later in the game. Choice Scarf Scyther has the quickest U-turn in the tier, which makes it a very reliable hit-and-run revenge killer. Aerial Ace is best used late-game once the opponent's team has been sufficiently weakened and when Scyther wants to attack without being forced to switch. Knock Off is useful for removing items, especially on bulkier Pokemon such as Rhydon and Steelix, allowing Scyther to easier combat them late-game. Knock Off also has utility in revenge killing non-Colbur Berry variants of Rotom. Bug Bite is a stronger alternative to U-turn that doesn't force Scyther to switch out but can often result in a loss in momentum. Tailwind can also be used as a last-ditch utility move to speed up your team for four turns, but beware of mindlessly clicking Tailwind, as it is not a move you want to be locked into.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed are used to hit as hard and fast as possible, while the remaining 4 EVs are placed in Defense over HP to ensure Scyther can switch into Stealth Rock at least twice throughout a battle. Technician provides a power boost to Scyther's strongest STAB moves, Aerial Ace and Bug Bite. A Jolly nature allows Choice Scarf Scyther to outpace common threats such as Choice Scarf Rotom, Choice Scarf Jynx, and +1 Lilligant. Choice Scarf lets Scyther outspeed almost the entire metagame and has solid synergy with U-turn.

Usage Tips
========

Because it lacks Eviolite and recovery, Choice Scarf Scyther can only rely on its average bulk to tank attacks, so avoid switching it in on strong neutral attacks when possible. U-turn is the move you should be clicking the most, especially early- and mid-game, as it provides momentum for the rest of the team and gets chip damage off on Scyther's checks. Beware of clicking Aerial Ace and Bug Bite early on in a battle, as it can result in a loss of momentum that your opponent can easily capitalize on. Late-game, once the opposing team has been weakened, is where Scyther shines, as it can use Aerial Ace or Bug Bite more freely and clean up teams. Avoid switching Scyther into Knock Off from Fighting-types such as Hariyama and Throh if revenge killing Floatzel, Swellow, and opposing Choice Scarf Pokemon is important. Tailwind is best used as a last-ditch effort once Scyther proves to no longer be useful, although you should beware of clicking Tailwind because being locked into it is very easy for an opponent to take advantage of.

Team Options
========

Wallbreakers that can punch through defensive cores, such as Choice Band Primeape, Samurott, and Magmortar, are amazing partners for Scyther, as they clear the way for it to sweep late-game. Primeape in particular forms an effective U-turn core with Scyther, allowing them to threaten each other's checks and counters. Entry hazard removal is key to Scyther's success, so Pokemon such as Pelipper, Xatu, and Hitmonchan are all good partners alongside Scyther. Scyther appreciates the chip damage that comes with having hazards on the opponent's side of the field, so Pokemon that can set them up like Omastar, Rhydon, and Cacturne work well. Pokemon with Volt Switch or U-turn such as Xatu and Lanturn make for excellent partners, as they keep momentum up throughout a battle. Choice Scarf Scyther sits in a terrifc Speed tier, so Pokemon that appreciate faster threats such as Swellow, Floatzel, and weather abusers being removed, like Aurorus and Choice Band Primeape, make for quality partners.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Brick Break is useful on Choice Band Scyther, as it gives Scyther a way to hit most Steel- and Rock-types super effectively, although due to its low Base Power and the naturally high Defense stat of most Steel- and Rock-types, it is usually better to just U-turn out. An offensive Eviolite set running maximum Attack and Speed gives Scyther better immediate damage output and more reliably OHKOes Pokemon such as Kangaskhan, Mesprit, and Xatu after Stealth Rock damage, but the defensive utility that comes with the bulky Swords Dance set is often too useful to pass up. Baton Pass can be selected over U-turn on Swords Dance sets, as it allows Scyther to pass the +2 Attack boost to its teammates, although losing the super effective Bug-type coverage on Dark- and Psychic-types and the ability to weaken its own checks and counters often makes Baton Pass less effective than U-turn. Reversal is a neat coverage option for Choice sets, as once Scyther has switched into Stealth Rock twice, Reversal is an insanely powerful 200-Base Power Fighting-type attack that can surprise bulky Rock- and Steel-types that think they're safe against Scyther. Reversal is incredibly unreliable, though, as it can only be used when Scyther is at a very low amount of HP and is often a wasted coverage slot.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock is extremely detrimental to Scyther's success, as Scyther is 4x weak to it. This weakness either causes Scyther to lose momentum by clicking Roost to stay healthy or severely hinders the Choice sets and prevents Scyther from clicking U-turn freely.

**Rock- and Steel-types**: Bulky Rock- and Steel-type Pokemon such as Rhydon, Regirock, and Steelix can switch into any of Scyther's attacks without much fear and can demolish it with a Rock-type attack, status it, or set up Stealth Rock.

**Knock Off**: Bulky Swords Dance Scyther requires its Eviolite to tank attacks like Kangaskhan's Double-Edge better, and the Choice sets are either too weak or too slow to fulfill their purpose on a team without their item.

**Bulky Poison-types**: Bulky Poison-types such as Weezing and Garbodor resist U-turn, and the former can cripple Scyther with Will-O-Wisp, while the latter can punish Scyther for using U-turn with Rocky Helmet and Aftermath damage. Garbodor can even run Rock Blast to directly beat Scyther, while Scyther has no counterplay against Weezing other than U-turning out and letting Weezing do what it pleases.

Sorry about this, I told Hootie and Astroboy to let the rest of QC know earlier but I'm finally free on Sunday so this will be out of WIP and into QC by Monday night at the latest. Sorry for taking longer than my usual work in C&C, I've just been very busy Irl as of late.

Tldr: I've been busy but this will be ready for QC by Monday at the latest.

You have 4 stray usable EVs unaccounted for with the Swords Dance set. You may want to put them into Attack just because.

Also, the difference in power between investment in attack and no investment in attack isn't marginal after a Swords Dance boost; maximum attack SD Scyther picks up a lot of KOs after Stealth Rock that minimal attack investment would fail to reach or even get close to:

+2 252 Atk Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kangaskhan: 313-369 (89.1 - 105.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 252 HP / 176 Def Xatu: 280-331 (83.8 - 99.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mesprit: 252-297 (83.7 - 98.6%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Skuntank: 363-427 (104.6 - 123%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Samurott: 298-352 (90 - 106.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

+2 8 Atk Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kangaskhan: 255-300 (72.6 - 85.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 8 Atk Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 252 HP / 176 Def Xatu: 228-268 (68.2 - 80.2%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 8 Atk Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mesprit: 204-240 (67.7 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 8 Atk Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Skuntank: 294-346 (84.7 - 99.7%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 8 Atk Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Samurott: 241-285 (72.8 - 86.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

What you need to emphasize is why the need for bulk outweighs the need for additional power on Scyther instead of downplaying the effects of maximum power after a Swords Dance.

Hey, not really too big with revisions or technicalities atm myself, but I was browsing through the analysis and the idea came by that I think Pursuit should be backslashed on the CB set - mainly for trapping rotom, but it has nice situational utility for psychic and ghost types throughout the tier, really.

[10:30:29 PM] Finch: 252 Atk Choice Band Technician Scyther Pursuit vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Rotom: 216-256 (89.6 - 106.2%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO
[10:30:32 PM] Finch: after SR
[10:30:34 PM] Finch: it kills.

[10:31:05 PM] bolts: I’m fine with slashing it behind knock

other nitpicks: maybe mention like brick break in the OO and potentially an offensive evio set (turn knock uturn roost max atk max speed +speed etc with evio) in the OO, too (ask rozes/bolts/etc - shit is cash)

  • High attack and speed make Scyther a potent offensive threat
  • Solid HP and defenses especially when holding an Eviolite provide Scyther with defensive utility as well, being able to switch into many of the tiers biggest threats such as Sawk, Kangaskhan (Kanga 2HKOes), and Mega-Audino.
  • Scyther is one of the best momentum grabbers in the tier with a strong and quick U-turn.
  • Bug/Flying typing allows Scyther to take powerful Fighting type attacks from pokemon such as Sawk and Hitmonchan.
  • Although Bug/Flying typing is useful for combating Fighting types, Scyther is 4X weak to Rock type attacks and Stealth Rock.

Moves
========
  • Swords Dance is the crux (don't say crux in analyses, too cliche) of this set, and allows Scyther to boost its attack to extremely high levels.
  • U-turn is used over a stronger alternative in Bug Bite as it allows Scyther to weaken it's checks such as Rhydon and Steelix so it can break through easier in the late game. U-turn is Scythers most spammable move early-mid game.
  • Aerial Ace is Scyther's strongest Flying STAB and provides solid coverage alongside U-turn. mention AA is its besting cleaning tool and provides important coverage against Fighters
  • Roost lets Scyther stay healthy throughout a battle and increases Scyther's longevity.
Set Details

  • 248 HP investment provides Scyther with as much mixed bulk as possible, while also insuring that Scyther can switch into Stealth Rock at least twice. Maximum speed with a Jolly nature is crucial to make sure Scyther outspeeds everything it can to U-turn out or sweep late game.
  • Eviolite is used to increase Scythers already impressive bulk.

Usage Tips
========
  • Swords Dance Scyther is best used as a late game sweeper once its checks and counters have been weakened or eliminated, but setting up early game and weakening your opponents check with U-turn is also a viable option.
  • Scyther does have a strong early-mid game presence though, as U-turn allows it to keep up momentum even before an attack boost.

  • Try to avoid sending out Scyther when Stealth Rock are up on your side of the field, as losing 50% of its HP often means Scyther is forced to click Roost instead of U-turn or Swords Dance, in result losing momentum.

Other Options
=============
  • Pursuit is a decent option for Choice Band Scyther , although Scyther is almost always outdone as a trapper by Dark types like Skuntank that have an easier time switching in on Psychics and Ghosts. Along with this, Scyther is usually better just U-turning out and gaining momentum, as being locked into Pursuit will leave Scyther in an awkward situation that a skilled opponent can easily exploit. remove this since it's being bumped up
As for some more stuff to put here, I'd include Finch's stuff here as well as Baton Pass and Reversal.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock are extremely detrimental to Scyther's success, as Scyther is 4x weak to them. This weakness either causes Scyther to lose momentum by clicking Roost to stay healthy, or severely withers the Choice sets and prevents Scyther from clicking U-turn freely.

**Status**: All forms of status harm Scyther greatly as Scyther cannot properly perform any of its roles while being impaired with a status condition. Remove for the same reasons as before

**Rock Types**: Bulky Rock type Pokemon such as Rhydon, Carracosta, and Regirock can cause Scyther problems as they switch into any of Scyther's attacks without much fear and can demolish Scyther with a STAB Rock type attack, status Scyther, or set up Stealth Rock.

**Steel Types**: In a similar vein as Rock type Pokemon, Steel types like Steelix and Mawile can give Scyther issues as they resist Scythers dual STAB and can also set up Stealth Rock with ease.

**Knock Off**: As the with most NFE's, Scyther really needs its item to be effective. Bulky Swords Dance requires its Eviolite to tank attacks like Kangaskhan's Double Edge better, and the choice sets are either too weak or too slow to fulfill their purpose on a team without their item.

Overview
When talking about its x4 Rock weakness, highlight how this makes it a inconsistent check to Sceptile and Fighting-types considering some of latter carry Stone Edge either as coverage, or as a means to bait in Scyther and take it down (talking things like Stone Edge Hitmonchan or Hariyama here). Most of the overview speaks in terms of the Eviolite Swords Dance set; note how it performs well as revenge killer, being able to outspeed some weather sweepers, as well as act as hard hitter with Choice Band, making it fairly versatile.

Bulky SD - Change the name to 'Swords Dance' because calling it Bulky Swords Dance implies there's an offensive variant as well.

Set Details
You're missing a sentence about Technician powering up its main cleaning tool here.

Usage Tips
Make a sentence stating when it's best to use Roost (when Scyther is around less than half or below, getting rid of its Flying typing to take an attack it couldn't otherwise, when it switches in on Stealth Rock, etc.)

Team Options
I'd say Rotom is better at handling Steelix and to a lesser extent Rhydon because unlike Lanturn it's not weak to Earthquake and can reliably burn both. I know the idea is that Scyther U-turns on both of their switch ins, while Lanturn threatens them, but I'd say Rotom just feels more appropriate to list here. When you do mention Lanturn though, bring up how Lanturn tends to bait in Grass-types which Scyther capitalizes on. Shiftry is pretty decent with this because it takes down the likes of Steelix and Rhydon as well as remove Garbodor and Weezing's item, which makes the former no longer punish Scyther for using U-turn and makes the latter easier to wear down through the course of the match. Also add Prinplup as Defogger because it's noteworthy for not stacking the already horrible Stealth Rock weakness that Scyther has. Don't forget to remove the Sawk Mention too!

Choice Band

Moves
You're missing a sentence for Pursuit here.

Set Details
Mention Technician here as well and how it makes Scyther's Pursuit farily powerful.

Usage Tips
Your third point is fairly arbitrary and its in Scyther's best interest to not directly switch into either of those because Lanturn threatens to burn with Scald and both hit Scyther hard with their respective Electric-type STABs. I'd mention more along the lines of Thunder Wave users that Scyther normally doesn't fear switching in on as much such as Musharna, Mesprit, and Xatu. Also add in a sentence of when its best to use Pursuit here.

Team Options
Sandslash kinda blows; prefer Claydol with this any day over it, I'd just remove it. Add in Hitmonchan and Prinplup here. You should also state what each hazard control teammate provides such as how Claydol switches in on Garbodor with little fear or how Hitmonchan breaks down Bug/Flying resists and so on. Remove Sawk and Gurdurr mentions.

Choice Scarf

Moves
Knock Off also is nice for revenging non-Colbur variants of Rotom in particular.

Set Details
Once again, mention Technician here.

Usage Tips

You should note that Scyther should generally avoid switching into Knock Off Fighting-types if Scyther plays a crucial role in revenge killing the likes of Sceptile, Swellow, and other possibly threatening Choice Scarf users. Give Tailwind a sentence stating that its best used as last ditch effort once Scarf Scyther proves to be no longer useful, but mention that if the foe knows you're locked into it, they can respond by setting up and possibly sweeping your team.

Team Options
Remove the Sawk mention. Replace it with Choice Band Primeape, which forms a nice U-turn core, being able to threaten each others checks and counters.

Other Options
Brick Break is primarily for use on Choice Band as its weak as hell on Scarf, so just clarify that.

Implemented Hootie's QC check. I'm a little swamped with work this week so given the length of this analysis, it'll take me a few days to get this written up.

For the Swords Dance set, mention that U-turn is not only useful for early game pivoting but also as a mid-game stop to bulky Psychic- and Dark-types such as boosted Musharna and Malamar once Scyther has secured boosts of its own, and late-game as a last-mon you can spam it to your hearts content. Also mention that Aerial Ace's good mono-attacking coverage is what makes it a consistent sweeping move. In usage tips, you could also mention that Roost can be used to stall out statused foes if this is preferable to hitting them head-on, for example, against a burned Garbodor or Skuntank, but this is a minor point.

For the Choice Band set, also mention that Technician boosts Quick Attack's power to usable levels.

For the Choice Scarf set, you should reword the second sentence, as Scarf Scyther's U-turn certainly isn't the most powerful or potent compared it it's band set or even Ninjask.

In Checks and Counters, I would personally add a category for bulky Poison-types, as they all resist U-turn, and Garbodor in particular can penalize Scyther for pivoting with Rocky Helmet + Aftermath. Garbodor can even use Rock Blast to directly beat Scyther, while Scyther has no counterplay against Weezing other than U-turning out and letting it do what it wants. I would also consider merging the Rock- and Steel-type sections since they all beat Scyther for more-or-less the same reasons, but this is up to you.

QC 3/3 unless anyone has any other points they'd like to make. :)

[OVERVIEW]

High aAttack and sSpeed make Scyther a potent offensive threat, and solid HP and defenses, (AC) especially when holding an Eviolite, (AC) provide Scyther with defensive utility as well, being ableallowing it to switch into many of the tiers biggest threats such as Primeape, Hitmonchan, and Mega- Audino (RH). Scyther is also one of the best momentum grabbers in the tier with a strong and quick U-turn, especially when equipped with a Choice Scarf Scyther. With said Choice Scarf, Scyther is a premier revenge killer, even out speeding weather threats such as Swift Swim Ludicolo and Chlorophyll Victreebel. Scyther is also very versatile with the item it can effectively run, as alongside Eviolite and Choice Scarf, Scyther can use the Choice Band to become an incredibly powerful wall breaker with its high aAttack stat. From a defensive standpoint, Bug / Flying (add spaces) typing allows Scyther to take powerful Fighting type-type (AH) attacks from pPokemon such as Primeape and Hitmonchan. Although Bug / Flying (spaces) typing is useful for combahitting Fighting -types (AH), Scyther is 4Xx weak to Rock type-type (AH) attacks and Stealth Rock. In a similar vein, despite 4Xx resisting both Grass and Fighting, Scyther is somewhat of an inconsistent check to Lilligant and Fighting -types (AH) such as Hariyama and Primeape as all of these Pokemon commonly carry Rock coverage options. Bug / Flying (spaces) typing also leaves Scyther weak to common attacking types such as Fire and Electric alongside Rock. As with most NFE's, if Scyther loses its Eviolite, (AC) it suddenly struggles to check the pPokemon it previously could with its increased bulk.

move 4: Roost

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Swords Dance is the main selling point of this set, and allows Scyther to boost its aAttack to extremely high levels. U-turn is used over a stronger alternative in Bug Bite as it allows Scyther to weaken it's (RA) checks such as Rhydon and Steelix, (AC) so it can break through easier in the late game-game (AH). U-turn is Scyther's (AA) most spammable move early-mid and mid-game, and is also useful for stopping bulky Psychic- and Dark -types (AH) such as boosted Musharna and Malamar, (AC) once Scyther has a Swords Dance under its belt. Aerial Ace is Scyther's strongest Flying STAB, the best cleaning tool Scyther has access to, and has impressive mono-attacking coverage which makes it a consistent sweeping tool. Lastly, Roost lets Scyther stay healthy throughout a battle and increases Scyther'its longevity.

Set Details
========

248 HP investment provides Scyther with as much mixed bulk as possible, while also insuring that Scyther can switch into Stealth Rock at least twice. Maximum sSpeed with a Jolly nature is crucial to make sure Scyther outspeeds everything it can to U-turn out or sweep late game-game (AH). Eviolite is used to increase Scyther's (AA) already impressive bulk. Technician is the chosen ability as it boosts Scythers main cleaning tool, Aerial Ace, to an impressive 90 base pBase Power. Alternatively, a spread of 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe can be used, (AC) but this greatly decreases Scyther's (AA) bulk and the increase in aAttack is only marginal after a Swords Dance boost is under Scytherits belt.

Usage Tips
========

Swords Dance Scyther is best used as a late -game (AH) sweeper once its checks and counters have been weakened or eliminated, but setting up early game-game (AH) and weakening your opponent's (AA) check with U-turn is also a viable option. Scyther does have a strong early-mid game and mid-game (AH) presence though, as U-turn allows it to keep up momentum even before an aAttack boost. Scyther's (AA) typing and bulk allow it to switch in on Fighting -types and Defensive pdefensive Pokemon with ease, but Scyther must beware of common Fighting type-type (AH) coverage such as Primeape and Hariyama with Stone Edge and Knock Off respectively, and also status such as Xatu's Thunder Wave and Weezing's Wil-O-Wisp. Try to avoid sending out Scyther when Stealth Rock are up on your side of the field, as losing 50% of its HP often means Scyther is forced to click Roost instead of U-turn or Swords Dance, in result losing momentum. It is usually most optimal to click Roost when Scyther is low on health, attempting to dodge a Sucker Punch, or when removing Scythers f's Flying typing is beneficial. An example of this situation would be Roosting to become neutral to a Lanturn or Rotom's (AA) Volt Switch. Roost can also be used to stall out foes inflicted with Burn or Toxicburn or toxic, (AC) if this is preferable to out right attacking them, such as when facing a burned Garbodor or Skuntank to avoid Aftermath recoil.

Team Options
========

Volt Switchers such as Lanturn and Rotom make for excellent partners alongside Scyther as they help each other grab momentum and form a potent Volt-Turn (RH) core. Rotom in particular deserves a mention as it can burn Bbulky Rock- and Steels such as Rhydon and Steelix-types that give Scyther trouble, (AC) such as Rhydon and Steelix. Shiftry deserves a mention as it also takes down Rhydon and Steelix, as well as removing Garbodor and Weezing's item;, (RSC, AC) which makes the former no longer punish Scyther for spamming U-turn and the latter easier to wear down throughout the battle. Shiftry can also provide Defog support for Scyther. Fighting types such as Primeape and Hitmonchan work well with Scyther as they can break through the bulky Rock- and Steel -types (AH) that Scyther despises. Lanturn gets a special mention as it has terrific defensive synergy with Scyther, and also tends to bait in Grass on Grass-types (AH) which Scyther can capitalize on. Hitmonchan in particular works well with Scyther as it can also Rapid Spin away Stealth Rock that nuisance Scyther. Powerful wall breakers such as Swellow, Samurott, and Abomasnow are good partners for Scyther as they appreciate the free switches that Scyther provides for them with U-turn. Rapid Spinners and Defogers such as Kabutops, Mantine, Pelipper, and Prinplup are necessary partners alongside Scyther, as Scyther's crippling weakness to Stealth Rock hinders it greatly. Conversely, Scyther really appreciates hazards, in particular Spikes as they wear down bulky Rock- and Steel -types (AH) with ease, (AC) especially in conjunction with U-turn. Hazard setters such as Omastar, Crustle, and Garbodor are all viable partners.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

U-turn is the most spammable move on the set, providing momentum throughout the battle while also weakening Scyther's checks and counters such as Rhydon and Steelix. Aerial Ace is strong STAB that provides good neutral coverage alongside U-turn and doesn't force Scyther to switch out. Knock off hits most pPokemon that resist Scyther's dual STAB like Steelix, Rotom, and Klinklang hard, while also having general utility in Knocking Oknocking off items and shortening bulkier pPokemon's longevity. Pursuit can be used over Knock Off if trapping Psychic- and Ghost -types such as Mesprit and Mismagius is more beneficial for the team. Quick Attack is priority -boosted (AH) by Technician, and with a Choice bandBand, (AC) hits fairly hard. Quick aAttack is useful for picking off faster weakened threats such as Pyroar, Floatzel, and Swellow.

Set Details
========

Maximum aAttack and sSpeed investment with a Jolly nature allow Scyther to hit as hard and fast as possible, while the remaining 4 EVs are put into dDefense instead of HP to allow Scyther to switch in on Stealth Rock at least twice. Technician is the selected ability as it powers up Scyther Aerial Ace, while also making Pursuit fairly powerful. Choice Band is used to maximize immediate power and has terrific synergy with U-turn.

Usage Tips
========

U-turn is Scyther's most spammable move and the move you want to click most often especially early-mid and mid-game, as it not only weaknesens Scyther's check and counters, (AC) but also provides momentum. Unlike Swords Dance variants of Scyther, Choice Band Scyther does not have access to reliable recovery in Roost and has only average bulk, so avoid switching Scyther into anything other than resisted attacks such as Primeape's (AA) Close Combat or Lilligant's Giga Drain. Beware of crippling status such as Thunder Wave from Pokemon Scyther usually has little trouble switching in on, (AC) such as Xatu, Musharna, or Mesprit. Be very cautious when clicking Quick Attack, as being locked into it can often leave you at a disadvantage. It is best to Pursuit when the opposing Pokemon doesn't threaten to either status, or KO Scyther. For example, Pursuiting a Rotom locked into Shadow Ball is usually safe, but clicking Pursuit vs a Rotom with Colbur Berry that can still Burn or Thunderbolt Scyther is often sub optimal.

Team Options
========

Hazard removal support is necessary for Scyther as it is 4x weak to Stealth Rock and has no means of recovery so p, (AC) so Pokemon that can remove hazards, (AC) such as Claydol, Mantine, Hitmonchan, and Prinplup that can remove hazards, (AC) are solid partners. Each of these hazard removers provide different alternate uses for Scyther, as Claydol can switch in on Rhydon, Garbodor and Weezing, Mantine and Prinplup have great defensive synergy with Scyther, and Hitmonchan breaks down bulky Rock- and Steel -types (AH) for Scyther. Alternatively, Scyther greatly appreciates having hazards on the opponents side of the field so hazard setters like Ferroseed, Steelix, and Garbodor work well. Volt Switch and U-turn user's such as Rotom, Lanturn, and Swellow can form terrifying Volt-Turn (RH) cores alongside Scyther that keep momentum up throughout a battle. Fighting -types (AH) such as Hitmonchan, Primeape, and Hariyama are all fantastic partners alongside Scyther as they can break through the Rock- and Steel -types (AH) that plague Scyther, and appreciate the free switches Scyther provides with U-Tturn. Since Choice Banded Scyther is a solid wall breaker in its own right, late game-game (AH) cleaners such as Klinklang, Barbaracle, and Lilligant make for quality partners.

[SET]

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

U-turn provides momentum and weakens Scyther's (AA) checks and counters for later in the game. Scarf Scyther has the quickest U-turn in the tier, (AC) which makes it a very reliable hit and -and-run revenge killer. Aerial Ace is best used late -game (AH) once the opponents team has been sufficiently weakened and when Scyther wants to attack without being forced to switch. Knock Off is useful for removing items especially on bulkier pPokemon such as Rhydon and Steelix, allowing Scyther to easier combat them late -game. Knock Off also has utility in revenge killing non -Colbur Berry variants of Rotom. Bug Bite is a stronger alternative to U-turn that doesn't force Scyther to switch out but can often lead in a loss in momentum. Tailwind can also be used as a last ditch utility move to speed up your team for 4 turns, but beware of mindlessly clicking Tailwind as it is not a move you want to be locked into.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed are used to hit as hard and fast as possible, while the remaining 4 EVs are placed in dDefense over HP to ensure Scyther can switch into Stealth Rock at least twice throughout a battle. Technician is the ability of choice as it provides a power boost to Scyther's strongest STAB' moves, Aerial Ace and Bug Bite. A Jolly nature is used as it allows Choice Scarf Scyther to outpace common threats such as Scarf Rotom, Scarf Jynx, and + 1 Lilligant. (AP) Choice Scarf is the item of choice as Scyther can outspeed almost the entire metagame with the boost in speed, and has solid synergy with U-turn.

Usage Tips
========

Unlike Swords Dance Scyther which carries Eviolite, Choice Scarf Scyther has to rely on it's (RA) average bulk and a lack of recovery to tank attacks, so avoid switching it in on strong neutral attacks when possible. U-turn is the move you should be clicking most especially early-mid and mid-game, as it provides momentum for the rest of the team and gets chip damage off on Scyther's (AA) checks. Beware of clicking Aerial Ace and Bug Bite early on in a battle, as it can result in a loss of momentum where your opponent can easily capitalize. Late game-game (AH), once the opposing team has been weakened, (AC) is where Scyther shines, as it can click Aerial Ace or Bug Bite more freely and clean up teams. Avoid switching Scyther into Knock Off's from Fighting -types (AH) such as Hairiyama or Throh if revenge killing Floatzel, Swellow, and even other Choice Scarf Pokemon is important. Tailwind is best used as a last ditch effort once Scyther proves to be no longer useful, although beware of clicking Tailwind because being locked into it is very easy for an opponent to take advantage of.

Team Options
========

Wall breakers that can punch through defensive cores such as Choice Band Primeape, Samurott, and Magmortar that can punch through defensive cores, (AC) are amazing partners for Scyther, (AC) as they clear the way for Scyther to sweep late game-game (AH). Primeape in particular forms an effective U-Tturn core, being able to threaten each others checks and counters. Hazard removal is key to Scyther's (AA) success, so Pokemon such as Pelipper, Xatu, and Hitmonchan are all good parters alongside Scyther. Scyther appreciates the chip damage that comes with having hazards on the opponents side of the field, (AC) so Pokemon that can set them up like Omastar, Rhydon, and Cacturne work well. Pokemon with Volt Switch or U-turn such as Xatu and Lanturn make for excellent partners as they keep momentum up throughout a battle. Choice Scarf Scyther sits in an impeccable speed tier, so Pokemon like Aurorus and Choice Band Primeape that appreciate faster threats being removed such as Swellow, Floatzel, and weather abusers being removed, (AC) like Aurorus and Choice Band Primeape make for quality partners. Choice Scarf Scyther can clean up more offensive teams rather easily late game-game (AH), so wallbreakers such as Abomasnow and Haunter are solid teammates.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Brick Break is useful on Choice Band Scyther as it gives Scyther a way to hit most Steel- and Rock -types super effectively, although due to it's low base ps (RA) low Base Power and the naturally high dDefense stat of most Steel- and Rock -types (AH), (AC) it is usually better to just U-Tturn out. An Ooffensive Eviolite set running max aAttack and max sSpeed is plausible, (AC) as it gives Scyther better immediate output and more reliably OHKO's Pokemon such as Kangaskhan, Mesprit, and Xatu after Stealth Rock, but the defensive utility which comes with the Bulky Swords Dance set is often too useful to pass up. Baton Pass can be selected over U-Tturn on Swords Dance sets as it allows Scyther to pass the +2 Attack boost to teammates, although losing the Super Esuper sffective Bug -type (AH) coverage on Dark- and Psychic -types (AH) and ability to weaken it's (RA) own checks and counters often makes Baton Pass less effective than U-Turn. Reversal is a neat coverage option for choiced sets, as once Scyther has switched into Stealth Rock twice, Reversal is an insanely powerful 200 BP Fighting type attack that can surprise bulky Rock- and Steel -types, (AC) (AH) who think they're safe against Scyther. Reversal is incredibly unreliable, though, as it can only be used when Scyther is at a very low amount of HP and is often a wasted coverage slot.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock areis extremely detrimental to Scyther's success, as Scyther is 4x weak to ithem. This weakness either causes Scyther to lose momentum by clicking Roost to stay healthy, or severely withers the Choice sets and prevents Scyther from clicking U-turn freely.

**Rock- and Steel-Ttypes**: Bulky Rock- (AH) and Steel-Ttype Pokemon such as Rhydon, Regirock, and Steelix can cause Scyther problems as they switch into any of Scyther's attacks without much fear, (AC) and can demolish Scyther with a Rock -type (AH) attack, status Scyther, or set up Stealth Rock.

**Knock Off**: As the with most NFE's, Scyther really needs its item to be effective. Bulky Swords Dance requires its Eviolite to tank attacks like Kangaskhan's Double Edge better, and the cChoice sets are either too weak or too slow to fulfill their purpose on a team without their item.

**Bulky Poison-Ttypes**: Bulky Poison-Ttypes such as Weezing and Garbodor resist U-turn and can cripple Scyther with Wil-O-Wisp in Weezing's case, and Garbodor can punish Scyther for clicking U-turn with Rocky Helmet +and Aftermath damage. Garbodor can even run Rock Blast to directly beat Scyther, while Scyther has no counter-play against Weezing other than U-turning out and letting Weezing do what it pleases.
so yeah, the content was good, but there were lots of mistakes regarding -type, and Attack so make sure you go over your analysis when you're done to catch out for these simple errors. if you have any questions, feel free to ask me :)

Volt Switch users such as Lanturn and Rotom make for excellent partners alongside Scyther, (AC) as they help each other grab momentum and form a potent Volt-Turn (RH) core. Rotom in particular deserves a mention, (AC) as it can burn Bbulky Rock- and Steels such as Rhydon and Steelix-types that give Scyther trouble, (AC) such as Rhydon and Steelix. Lanturn has terrific defensive synergy with Scyther and also tends to bait in Grass-types, which Scther can capitalize on. Moves
========

Knock Off hits most pPokemon that resist Scyther's dual STAB combination like Steelix, Rotom, and Klinklang hard, while also having and it also has general utility in Knocking Oknocking off removing items and shortening bulkier pPokemon's longevity. Pursuit can be used over Knock Off if trapping Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Mesprit and Mismagius is more beneficial for the team. Quick Attack is a priority move boosted (AH) by Technician, and with a Choice bandBand, (AC) it hits fairly hard. It is particularly Quick aAttack is useful for picking off faster weakened threats such as Pyroar, Floatzel, and Swellow.

Set Details
========

Maximum aAttack and sSpeed investment with a Jolly nature allows Scyther to hit as hard and fast as possible, while the remaining 4 EVs are put into dDefense instead of HP to allow Scyther to switch in on Stealth Rock at least twice. Technician is the selected ability as it powers up Scyther Aerial Ace, (RC) while also making Pursuit fairly powerful. Choice Band is used to maximize Scyther's immediate power and has terrific synergy with U-turn.

Usage Tips
========

U-turn is Scyther's most spammable move and the move you want to click most often, (AC) especially early-mid and mid-game, as it not only weaknesens Scyther's check and counters, (AC) but also provides momentum. Unlike Swords Dance variants of Scyther, Choice Band Scyther does not have access to reliable recovery in Roost and has only average bulk, so avoid switching it Scyther into anything other than resisted attacks such as Primeape's (AA) Close Combat or and Lilligant's Giga Drain. Beware of crippling status such as Thunder Wave from Pokemon Scyther usually has little trouble switching in on, (AC) such as Xatu, Musharna, or and Mesprit. Be very cautious when clicking Quick Attack, as being locked into it can often leave you at a disadvantage. It is best to use Pursuit when the opposing Pokemon doesn't threaten to either status, (RC) or KO Scyther. For example, using Pursuiting on a Rotom locked into Shadow Ball is usually safe, but clicking Pursuit versus a Rotom with Colbur Berry that can still burn or use Thunderbolt on Scyther is often suboptimal.

Team Options
========

Hazard removal support is necessary for Scyther, (AC) as it is 4x weak to Stealth Rock and has no means of recovery so p, (AC) so Pokemon that can remove hazards, (AC) such as Claydol, Mantine, Hitmonchan, and Prinplup that can remove hazards, (AC) are solid partners. Each of these hazard removers provides different alternate uses for Scyther, as Claydol can switch in on Rhydon, Garbodor and Weezing; (ASC) Mantine and Prinplup have great defensive synergy with Scyther; (ASC) and Hitmonchan breaks down bulky Rock- and Steel-types (AH) for Scyther. Alternatively, (not the word you're looking for) Scyther greatly appreciates having hazards on the opponent's side of the field, (AC) so hazard setters like Ferroseed, Steelix, and Garbodor work well. Volt Switch and U-turn user's such as Rotom, Lanturn, and Swellow can form terrifying Volt-Turn (RH) cores alongside Scyther that keep momentum up throughout a battle. Fighting-types (AH) such as Hitmonchan, Primeape, and Hariyama are all fantastic partners alongside Scyther, (AC) as they can break through the Rock- and Steel-types (AH) that plague Scyther, (RC) and appreciate the free switches it Scyther provides with U-Tturn. Since Choice Banded Scyther is a solid wallbreaker in its own right, late game-game (AH) cleaners such as Klinklang, Barbaracle, and Lilligant make for quality partners.

U-turn provides momentum and weakens Scyther's (AA) checks and counters for later in the game. Choice Scarf Scyther has the quickest U-turn in the tier, (AC) which makes it a very reliable hit and -and-run revenge killer. Aerial Ace is best used late-game (AH) once the opponent's team has been sufficiently weakened and when Scyther wants to attack without being forced to switch. Knock Off is useful for removing items, (AC) especially on bulkier pPokemon such as Rhydon and Steelix, allowing Scyther to easier combat them late-game. Knock Off also has utility in revenge killing non-Colbur Berry variants of Rotom. Bug Bite is a stronger alternative to U-turn that doesn't force Scyther to switch out but can often lead result in a loss in momentum. Tailwind can also be used as a last-ditch utility move to speed up your team for 4 four turns, but beware of mindlessly clicking Tailwind, (AC) as it is not a move you want to be locked into.

Set Details
========

A Jolly nature is used as it allows Choice Scarf Scyther to outpace common threats such as Choice Scarf Rotom, Choice Scarf Jynx, and +1 Lilligant. (AP) Choice Scarf is the item of choice as lets Scyther can outspeed almost the entire metagame with the boost in speed, and has solid synergy with U-turn.

Usage Tips
========

Unlike Swords Dance Scyther which carries (fluff + slightly cross-set referency, and making this change does not lose out on any important information to my knowledge) Because it lacks Eviolite and recovery, Choice Scarf Scyther has to can only rely on it's (RA) average bulk and a lack of recovery to tank attacks, so avoid switching it in on strong neutral attacks when possible. U-turn is the move you should be clicking most, (AC) especially early-mid and mid-game, as it provides momentum for the rest of the team and gets chip damage off on Scyther's (AA) checks. Beware of clicking Aerial Ace and Bug Bite early on in a battle, as it can result in a loss of momentum that where your opponent can easily capitalize on. Late game-game (AH), once the opposing team has been weakened, (AC) is where Scyther shines, as it can click use Aerial Ace or Bug Bite more freely and clean up teams. Avoid switching Scyther into Knock Off's from Fighting-types (AH) such as Hairiyama or and Throh if revenge killing Floatzel, Swellow, and even other opposing Choice Scarf Pokemon is important. Tailwind is best used as a last-ditch effort once Scyther proves to be no longer be useful, although you should beware of clicking Tailwind because being locked into it is very easy for an opponent to take advantage of.

Team Options
========

Wallbreakers that can punch through defensive cores, such as Choice Band Primeape, Samurott, and Magmortar that can punch through defensive cores, (AC) are amazing partners for Scyther, (AC) as they clear the way for Scyther to sweep late game-game (AH). Primeape in particular forms an effective U-Tturn core with Scyther, being able allowing them to threaten each other's checks and counters. Hazard removal is key to Scyther's (AA) success, so Pokemon such as Pelipper, Xatu, and Hitmonchan are all good partners alongside Scyther. Scyther appreciates the chip damage that comes with having hazards on the opponent's side of the field, (AC) so Pokemon that can set them up like Omastar, Rhydon, and Cacturne work well. Pokemon with Volt Switch or U-turn such as Xatu and Lanturn make for excellent partners, (AC) as they keep momentum up throughout a battle. Choice Scarf Scyther sits in an impeccable (this means "perfect" / "pristine" so you probably want a different word) Speed tier, so Pokemon like Aurorus and Choice Band Primeape that appreciate faster threats being removed such as Swellow, Floatzel, and weather abusers being removed, (AC) like Aurorus and Choice Band Primeape, (AC) make for quality partners. Choice Scarf Scyther can clean up more offensive teams rather easily late game-game (AH), so wallbreakers such as Abomasnow and Haunter are solid teammates. (shouldn't this go after the first two sentences? since they're both about wallbreakers)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Brick Break is useful on Choice Band Scyther, (AC) as it gives Scyther a way to hit most Steel- and Rock-types super effectively, although due to it's low base ps (RA) low Base Power and the naturally high dDefense stat of most Steel- and Rock-types (AH), (AC) it is usually better to just U-Tturn out. An Ooffensive Eviolite set running maximum aAttack and max sSpeed is plausible, (AC) as it gives Scyther better immediate damage output and more reliably OHKOe's Pokemon such as Kangaskhan, Mesprit, and Xatu after Stealth Rock, but the defensive utility that which comes with the bulky Swords Dance set is often too useful to pass up. Baton Pass can be selected over U-Tturn on Swords Dance sets, (AC) as it allows Scyther to pass the +2 Attack boost to teammates, although losing the Super Esuper effective Bug-type (AH) coverage on Dark- and Psychic-types (AH) and ability to weaken it's (RA) own checks and counters often makes Baton Pass less effective than U-turn. Reversal is a neat coverage option for Choiced sets, as once Scyther has switched into Stealth Rock twice, Reversal is an insanely powerful 200-Base Power BP Fighting-type attack that can surprise bulky Rock- and Steel-types, (AC) (AH) who that think they're safe against Scyther. Reversal is incredibly unreliable, though, as it can only be used when Scyther is at a very low amount of HP and is often a wasted coverage slot.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock areis extremely detrimental to Scyther's success, as Scyther is 4x weak to ithem. This weakness either causes Scyther to lose momentum by clicking Roost to stay healthy, (RC) or severely withers hinders (or cripples, etc, but withers means something a bit different) the Choice sets and prevents Scyther from clicking U-turn freely.

**Rock- and Steel-Ttypes**: Bulky Rock- (AH) and Steel-Ttype Pokemon such as Rhydon, Regirock, and Steelix can cause Scyther problems as they switch into any of Scyther's attacks without much fear, (AC) (don't add comma) and can demolish it Scyther with a Rock-type (AH) attack, status it Scyther, or set up Stealth Rock.

**Knock Off**: As the with most NFE's, Scyther really needs its item to be effective. (first part is fluff and second part is stated in the next sentence) Bulky Swords Dance Scyther requires its Eviolite to tank attacks like Kangaskhan's Double-Edge better, and the cChoice sets are either too weak or too slow to fulfill their purpose on a team without their item.

**Bulky Poison-Ttypes**: Bulky Poison-Ttypes such as Weezing and Garbodor resist U-turn, (AC) and the former can cripple Scyther with Will-O-Wisp in Weezing's case, while and Garbodor can punish Scyther for clicking using U-turn with Rocky Helmet +and Aftermath damage. Garbodor can even run Rock Blast to directly beat Scyther, while Scyther has no counterplay against Weezing other than U-turning out and letting Weezing do what it pleases.

With Choice Scarf, Scyther is a premier revenge killer, even(space)outspeeding weather threats such as Swift Swim Ludicolo and Chlorophyll Victreebel. Scyther is also very versatile with the item it can run, as alongside Eviolite and Choice Scarf, it can use the Choice Band to become an incredibly powerful(space)wallbreaker with its high Attack stat. From a defensive standpoint, its Bug / Flying typing allows Scyther to take powerful Fighting-type attacks from Pokemon such as Primeape and Hitmonchan; however, it makes Scyther 4x weak to Rock-type(space)attacks and Stealth Rock.

Moves

Swords Dance allows Scyther to boost its Attack to extremely high levels. U-turn is used over a stronger alternative in Bug Bite, as it allows Scyther to weaken its checks such as Rhydon and Steelix so that it can break through more easily easier in the late-game. U-turn is Scyther's most spammable move early- (add hyphen) and mid-game, and it is also useful for stopping bulky Psychic- and Dark-types such as boosted Musharna and Malamar once Scyther has a Swords Dance under its belt. Aerial Ace is the best cleaning tool Scyther has access to, and its impressive mono-attacking coverage makes it a consistent sweeping tool. Lastly, Roost lets Scyther stay healthy throughout a battle and increases its longevity.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Scyther's typing and bulk allow it to switch in on Fighting-types and defensive Pokemon with ease, but it must beware of common Fighting-type (sooo this seems like the moves are fighting-type moves, even though you're referring to coverage moves coming from fighting-type pokemon. In any case I don't think it's even necessary to say it, as you have already introduced fightin-types in the previous sentence and you even mention two particular pokemon.) coverage such as Stone Edge from Primeape and Knock Off from Hariyama,(space)as well as status moves such as Xatu's Thunder Wave and Weezing's Will-O-Wisp.

========

Volt Switch users such as Lanturn and Rotom make for excellent partners alongside Scyther, as they help each other grab momentum and form a potent Volt(no space)Turn core.

I pointed out a little while ago that the attack boost after a Swords Dance isn't marginal, this should be fixed and clarified before this analysis is uploaded.

EDIT: I saw you fixed this in OO, but it should still be re-worded in set details.

Hootie Edit: I went ahead and fixed this myself while uploading.
