Shiny Fairymon sends out

Saleem S Sends out and orders

Shiny Fairymon Orders

I remember seeing other battles with slight roleplaying while lurking (I think it was referred to as 'flavor'). I think I'd like to add some of that to my post.

Shiny Fairymon looked around the arena, thinking about how long ago it had been since she was a starting trainer with her Bulbasaur, Erika. She hadn't tried for very long, and had since stopped with her competitive battling with her two pokemon. But then, she had gotten a third pokemon, a newly hatched Swablu- who had made it extremely clear he was interested in battling.
"Alright! Jerome, you were the one who was so interested in starting up competitive battling. Why don't you come out first?"
Shiny Fairymon sent out her Swablu Jerome as she said this.

(Shiny Fairymon sends out Swablu. I hope I'm not making a mistake with how I'm adding the roleplaying aspect to things).

Iron Head ~ Stone Edge ~ Iron Head

If Swablu has Double Team clones when you would act, use Feint Attack that action instead and restart queue.
If you are asleep when you would act, use Sleep Talk(Stone Edge, Iron Head, Facade, Power Up Punch), and restart queue.

Shiny Fairymon grit her teeth as she realized her opponent's Pawniard resisted every attack move Jerome had. "Alright! Jerome, start out with a dragon rush, then use substitute to avoid the stone edge, then go in for another dragon rush!"

Deciding to be an ass, Saleem selects Churi, the Pawniard, in order to counter Jerome, the Swablu.

Concerned, the Swablu turns around to his trainer. Shiny, however, nods to him, half worried, half confident. They both know the advantage that Pawniard has is quite severe, but quitting now wouldnt help, would it?

Taking a deep breath, Jerome summons it's Draconic blood and Rushes Churi violently. Although the move was resisted, the Pawniard was caught off-guard. Unfortunately for Shiny, Pawniard managed to regain it's senses extremely quickly thanks to Inner Focus. Churi quickly retaliates with an Iron Head!

Sensing the danger, Jerome uses his vital energy to create a Substitute, which is quickly destroyed by Churi's Stone Edge.

Knowing they have no choice, Jerome once again charges at Churi with a Dragon Rush, but this this time, both Saleem and Churi are prepared, with the Pawniard countering with an Iron Head!

As the attacks collide, both pokemon are thrown across the arena, with Jerome landing flat on the floor while the Pawniard manages to keep steady.

With an interesting opening, Saleem and Pawniard find themselves in the lead, thanks for the type advantage. Will Shiny and Jerome manage to turn the tables?

Jerome looked at his opponent with concern. This was his first competitive battle, and he hadn't wanted for it to go so poorly. It was obvious that brute force wouldn't be enough to win. Fortunately, his trainer seemed to have the same concerns, as she gave him his next orders on what to do to Churi."Jerome! Heal from the damage with roost, then use feather dance on your opponent to lower his attack, then go in for a dragon rush!"

Roost~Feather Dance~Dragon Rush

Yes, you are right.

I am so so very sorry for making such an amateurish mistake, no idea how i overlooked the speeds.

Shiny Fairymon you are free to re-order.

Once she makes the decision, Saleem S will be able to re-order as well.

Again, i apologize for this.

Huh. So with the turn order from before changed, Swablu still has a 1 hp substitute left, and has taken damage from stone edge. I think I'll take advantage of the 1 hp substitute to start out with feather dance instead of roost. I know from the cartridge games that feather dance lowers attack 2 stages in the cartridge while hone claws raises it by 1 stage, meaning it would still be more lowered than raised there, but how does that work out into ASB mechanics? At least I hope that stays the same from cartridge mechanics translated to these mechanics- I'll try it anyway.

Jerome, inexperienced at battling as he was, was starting to feel as if the situation was hopeless. Shiny Fairymon, however, narrowed her eyes at the opportunity that the heavily battered, albeit still there, substitute gave her team. Though the opponent's Pawniard was faster, whatever attack it chose would be used to destroy the substitute- giving Jerome an extremely valuable opportunity. "Jerome! Use feather dance to lower the opponent's attack, then use roost, then go in for a dragon rush!"

Feeling like his major type-advantage wasnt enough, Saleem uses the most important move in Competitive. Yes folks, we are talking Stealth Rock! Meanwhile, Jerome tries to soften up any future blows, using a beautiful Feather Dance....

Wait, the Pawniard becoming weaker...No! Instead Churi is standing his ground, a look of determination in his face, Defiantly! It seems Feather Dance didnt have any effect!

Upset, but still hurt, Jerome Roosts away some of the damage, as Churi further boosts it's attack with a Power Up Punch, destroying the Substitute.

Finally, Saleem decides to stop setting up and finally attacks with a Stone Edge. The move, boosted by Power Up Punch, allows Churi to deal even more damage, badly injuring Jerome. The Swablu manages to counter attack with another Dragon Rush, but deals little damage againt his opponent's hard skull.

If Swablu is ordered to use Roost, use Snatch and push actions back, but only once.
If Swablu uses Dodge, use Chill and push actions back, but only once.

Matezoide, Feather Dance decays but Defiant does not, so Pawniard is at +2 Atk?

...And I officially feel like an idiot for forgetting about defiant. I'm sorry for asking that question before, and you were right not to give much space to an answer- the answer was easily available in the rulebooks when I double-checked on it, under the section "stat boosts/drops". In the future I'll try to be less of an annoyance when it comes to things like asking questions that turn out to be so easily looked up.

Shiny Fairymon winced at the way the battle was turning out. She knew it had been quite a while since she had battled, but she had hoped she would have done better than this. Jerome looked just as disappointed as he looked exhausted, obviously just as aware of how things were going to turn out. Shiny Fairymon bit her lip as she heard her opponent give his Pawniard the order for stone edge- she knew there was no way Jerome would take that attack without fainting. There was only one reasonable course of action that she could see taking- "Jerome, dodge that attack- and the one after it when he chills! Then go all out with a dragon rush combo!" Jerome, upon hearing his trainer's orders, narrowed his eyes and prepared to use his small size to his advantage, overcoming his exhaustion and flitting about the arena quickly in what he hoped would be unpredictable patterns for the Pawniard to prepare an attack against.

Once again, Jerome tries to Dodge, but unfortunately, he is too tired! It turns out you can not Dodge twice in a row! Smirking, Churi unleashe his Stone Edge on the stationary Swablu...

But missed!

Angry at the Accuracy Shenanigans, Churi Hones his Claws to prevent this from happening again. Jerome sees this opportunity and slams Churi as hard as possible, with a Dragon Onslaught!

There's no need to apologize- like I said before, I was the one who should have done more research first. I really appreciate all of the hard work you're doing reffing this.

Shiny Fairymon was astounded by the turn the battle had taken- the way that Churi had missed Jerome was extremely lucky. And given the hone claws, it was luck she likely wouldn't have again. Oh well. Time to see if she had the luck pull off the last-ditch option yet one more time- "Jerome, after you recover from the dragon onslaught, try another one!" Jerome, exhausted, flopped to the ground, wings spread out, simply not able to do anything more during the cooldown time from his previous tremendous exertions of energy, and hoping against hope for the same kind of luck which he had had before.

Shiny Fairymon returned Jerome to his pokeball, definitely embarrassed by how this battle had gone. And it was Jerome who had been the one who had wanted it the most, too. Well, as far as type advantage went, the choice as to which of her pokemon to send out next- but there was only one problem. Flannery had intimidate, while Churi had defiant- Shiny Fairymon supposed that because intimidate was not an innate ability, this could be worked around.
"Flannery," she said, looking at her Growlithe, "When you go out there, do not use intimidate. Understand?"
Flannery suppressed the urge to roll her eyes as she stepped out onto the field. Just because her trainer was the sort of idiot who forgot what abilities her opponent had didn't mean she was. The fact that her trainer couldn't see that was mildly insulting, although she supposed that she could definitely understand the concern.

Shiny Fairymon sends out Flannery the Growlithe.

If your HP is below 20 before an action begins, use Sucker Punch + Sucker Punch that action instead.
If you are not attacked when you would use Sucker Punch combination, use Stone Edge that action instead.

Flannery had seen how badly Jerome's battle had gone, and was not about to blindly follow her trainer's orders. She listened as Shiny Fairymon gave her orders to start with an attack move, and quickly ignored it. There was no way she was taking a +5 attack stone edge without weakening it- and no, she wasn't going to be as stupid as her trainer and ignore the existence of defiant. Flannery concentrated, and started blowing a predominantly blue, multicolored ball of fire toward Churi as she launched a will-o-wisp. There. That would protect her from a lot of extra damage- and giving her size class, she wasn't taking any more stone edge attacks then necessary. She was small enough that she felt she could dodge it, despite her trainer's orders to attack. Then she would partially follow her trainer's orders and launch her most powerful attack during the sucker punches that Churi would throw at her.

I'm kind of confused by the above... wouldn't Churi's status be listed as burned at the end? Wouldn't Churi take damage from that? In your calculations, wouldn't that cut Churi's attack? I accept that I'm a newbie to ASB, and may have misunderstood how Will o Wisp works, or misread the calculations. After double checking on ASB rules, I read from the players' handbook that burn "reduces the power of the Pokemon's physical attacks by 3 and causes it to take 2 damage at the end of each action", which I didn't notice happen here.
Again, I recognize that I'm a scrub here, and I could easily be missing something. If so, I apologize in advance for doubting you.

Flannery panted in exhaution, wondering how she could be losing to a weakened steel type. Hadn't her will o wisp at the beginning caused a burn? Maybe she should have listened to her trainer's orders instead. "Flannery! Morning Sun!" Okay- that was an order from her trainer that Flannery could agree with... But if Churi didn't use sucker punch again... Heh. Her trainer wasn't the only one who could think up strategies for a battle.

Reversal~Morning Sun~Sunny Day.

IF Churi starts with sucker punch, THEN instead of reversal, use Morning Sun~Reversal~Sunny Day.

Okay, so partially me noticing something and partially me not understanding the math. Thank you for giving the time for the explanation!
