Arena: The Obsidian Badlands!

One of the harshest places out there, the Obsidian Badlands used to be a chain of volcanoes. One day a Heatran erupted from its slumber underneath the volcanoes. Enraged for some unknown reason, the Heatran released an explosive amount of power. The beast channeled the power through its home, and without warning all of the Volcanoes burst open, lava and flames searing the surface. Water types from near and far quickly extinguished the lava, hardening it to the point of transformation. Because of the rapid cooling the lava became obsidian, a black glassy rock. Also the lava went everywhere, so area is coated here and there with thick plates or spikes of obsidian.​

The black rock gives the already daunting place a dark demeanor, and only the most fearless of trainers train and battle here. In the center of this craggy place is Obsidian Pillar, the only remains of the largest volcano. Its sheer size disheartens the bravest pokemon, and its sharp edges and spikes could fall onto unsuspecting victims at anytime. The weather here is always stormy, though it only rains once every few months. Because of this the place is always in a severe drought. The ground is able to be dug up, but you must be careful; the obsidian is unsteady in some places.

Weather is always stormy, though it rarely rains. Rain, sandstorms, and hail can be summoned. Digging and using earthquake is ok, but at your own risk.

Pansear(*) [Fernando] (Male)
Nature: Mild (Adds One (1) Rank to Special Attack; Subtracts One (1) Rank From Defense)

Info on Fernando: a knight receives three pokemon when they begin, their path pokemon and two pokemon resembling their parents. Fernando was a gift from Inferno, Glacier's hot headed but passoinate father. Fernando is the son of Cortez, Inferno's strongest pokemon. Fernando is the cliche fire monkey, silly and fun-loving, but aggressive and wild in battle. He is usually the one to pick fights, and because of this Glacier has to play the referee when arguments burst between his team. but a family is a family, no matter how weird it is, and Fernando always plays his part to win battles and make sure his brothers sisters and Trainer is safe. although he is the one who makes the cooking fires Fernando is a terrible chef (he burns most of the food), so either Glacier does it himself or gets Ninja to do it.

Type:
Fire: Fire STAB; immune to burn, 50% reduction in freeze chance, emit a low glow in dark places, takes additional damage if active open flames are exposed to a water attack. Superior senses in volcanic or brushfire areas.

Abilities:
Gluttony: (Innate) This Pokemon devours healing and stat increasing berries at 50% health (flat) instead of 25% health (flat).
Blaze (DW): (Innate) When this Pokemon’s HP is lower than 33%, the base damage of any fire attack is increased by two (2). (eg Flamethrower goes from 10 to 12, Fire Blast from 12 to 14)

Nature: Adamant (Adds One (1) Rank to Attack; Subtracts One (1) Rank From Special Attack)

Info on Ninja: because of Glacier's limited strength he gets sent on easy missions by the ice knights. one day while he was on one of these tasks (one of the ice Knights received a venomous wound from a seviper and needed medicine asap) he took a shortcut through some uncharted woods, where he encountered Ninja. the pokemon attacked and managed to take out most of the team before Glacier thought quickly and caught the weakened champ. ever since then when Truffles was down for the count Glacier would use Ninja to save the day. Ninja is strong but hard-headed, usually taking Fernando's taunts and getting into fights with the monkey. because he is the newest addition isn't as close as the others are, but glacier makes the effort to include him in so he feels welcomed. Ninja enjoys breaking things with his fists and is secretly a pretty decent cook

Fighting: (summary) Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions of throwing/grappling moves. Superior reaction time in close quarters.

Abilities:
Guts: (innate) This Pokemon is tenacious and will work ever harder when under a status condition, raising the Base Attack Power of all its physical attacks by two (2). Pokemon with Guts ignore the attack drop from burn.
No Guard: (innate) This Pokemon has an immense confidence from perfecting each of its attacks, giving them all perfect accuracy. Resultingly it feels it can weather every strike, and will not dodge an attack even if ordered to. Only when a OHKO move is issued by the opponent does sense return, and the Pokemon acts normally. Additionally even with their extra skill, the power and exhaustion involved in using OHKO moves prevents them from being benefitted by No Guard, they will have their normal accuracy.
Steadfast: (DW) (innate) If this Pokemon is flinched, it becomes aware of the speed difference and increases speed by one (1) stage to make up the difference. This speed boost is maintained at the end of each round.

Nature: Quiet (Adds One (1) Rank to Special Attack; Divides Base Speed by 1.15 and gives a flat 10 point decrease in evasion, effectively adding 10 accuracy (e.g. 85 becomes 95) on an opponent’s attacks.

Info on Hazel: Glacier found Hazel when he passed by a graveyard on his way to his campground from his successful battle at the Arena. he heard moans and wails, and when he entered the cemetery suddenly A Duskull popped out of a tombstone, glad to have some company. Hazel communicated with Glacier using her eerie abilities, and told him about how she was tethered to her grave for all eternity unless a trainer caught her. she begged to roam the world and find excitement, so Glacier happily complied, glad to have a new friend on board.

Hazel is always cheery (though in a demented creepy kind of way), and although new she has made friends with all of Glacier's team. she is the scout of the group, always hidden but watching, so that she can alert Glacier when trouble is around the corner. Hazel also like waking everyone up by wailing terribly.

Ghost:
Ghost STAB; brief intangibility that nullifies Normal and Fighting-type attacks. Can move through walls for a brief period of time but must remain in motion. Superior senses in low light and inside dark buildings. Have no vision reduction in hazes.


Abilities:
Levitate: (innate) This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading Ground moves like Bulldoze, Dig, Earthquake, and Magnitude. Other Ground moves can still hit.

Info on Reginald: While enjoying the relaxation of night fishing, Glacier Knight was surprised when the water started to glow! As he stepped back hundreds of glowing creatures burst from the water, then dove back in. Gaping in awe as the glowing things trailed downstream, Glacier realized it was a school of Pilcowatts migrated who knows where! satisfied at seeing the rare sight Glacier decided to pack up and go back to his camping grounds, but then he spied a faint glow near his fishing pole. with a tug and pull out popped the tiniest Pilcowatt of them all! Glacier took in the abandoned pokemon as his own, happily raising it.

Reginald is the baby of the group, despite Ninja and Hazel being relatively new. Glacier always cares for him and makes sure he gets water at least twice a day (to swim in of course!).
Type:
Water: Water STAB; Can breathe and have excellent mobility when underwater, are less capable on land unless they are entirely amphibious.
Electric: Electric STAB; 50% reduction in paralysis chance from other electrical attacks, perfect accuracy and 30% chance of Protect breaking Thunder during Rain. Superior senses in power plant environments.


Abilities:
Trace: (Can be Activated) This Pokemon can copy an ability of the opponent and replace Trace for six (6) actions. Wonder Guard cannot be Traced.
Magic Guard: (Innate) This Pokemon is infused with a powerful psycho-electric energy that makes it immune to damage from Hail, Sandstorm, and damage from Leech Seed, Poisoning, and Burn. It can still attack itself in confusion, but will not absorb any damage from it.

Kathryn, Calm your Mind and then hit Ninja with a powerful Psychic and then Psyshock on Fernando.

The battle begins, with Fernando quickly saying some PG-17 stuff to the little Kathryn, she doesn0t like being called a #$%&! little baby, she becames furious and is unable to concentrate properly, not being able to calm herself with that annoying monkey shouting loudly at her, Muggsy tries to stop him, he starts moving in a funny way around him, like dancing, increasing his attack ans being faster than before, but as soon as he was goin to attack him, a really strong fist ounchs him right o the stomach, leaving him confused about what has happened

But the battle is only starting, Muggsy is moving faster now, while he lauches a bunch of pointed stones directly at Fernand, the rocks are really hard, and hit him directly in his ears, doing some extra damage, Fernando will not stay back, and he moves himself from the path of the rocks, to bute Kathryn right in the "horns", crunching his little head, she is not happy, and shoots a ray of mental energy to get the monkey to stop bitting his head, but he jumps, and the attack hits Ninja, he doesn't seem really happy about it, he claims vengance, he runs full speed towards Kathryn, but Muggsy jumps in his way to defend her, taking a huge chunk of health in the process, that's taking one for the team

But Fernando is not over with Kathryn, crunching it's head all over again, Muggsy tries to stand in his path again, but it's confused, and hits himslef against a near tree, damaging himself in the process because of his improved speed, in a really similar scenario, now the raltz actually hits the
annoying monkey, meanwhile, Ninja takes adventage of the confused Muggsy attacking him from behind, not cool

i just noticed Gerard, Crunch has an 20% chance to decrease defense, but i didn't see the RNG for it in the calcs

Alright Muggsy, it's now or never with you. Start off with another Stone Edge on Fernando and hope your not too confused. After that use Zen Headbutt on Ninja and finish off with one more Stone Edge on Fernando.

Kathryn, since you taunted I guess we need to go full on offense now. Psychic, Psyshock, and another Psychic all on Ninja

Edit: I hate to keep criticizing, but there are several spelling errors in the battle text. Overall though great job.

Fernand is not done, he jumps right into Kathryn's head to pur his sharp teath's on her one more time, doing some extra damage once again, but Kathryn is not impressed and she keeps focusing her energy into Ninja, she uses al her mantal power to crush ninja, she did such a great job that it hit's a very week spot under Ninja's belly, doing enough damage to make him unable to move, Ninja is to exhausted to fight back, and cannot do anything to save Fernando from the upcoming rocks that Flint has launched at him, Ferny is not strong enough to stand the hit, and he also falls down next to ninja, this was really fast, but Kath has fallen sleep because of all the mental work she've done

Wow Kathryn you just barely held on there. I doubt Regi is going to let us get any more moves out but use Shadow Ball on Hazel until you can't anymore. Great job on that Heal Pulse though, Flint's almost at full health because of it.

Flint I feel that I somewhat screwed you over a bit, I should have checked disable's updates. Anyway I guess we won't be using any head moves now because of the burn which sucks cause those are your best attacks. Start off with a Take Down on Reginald followed by a Metal Claw on Hazel. And then let's try something crazy before Yuki gets in, finish with Earthquake.

Ok, Hazel and Reginald, this is getting brutal. Flint is back with high health, the ralts still isn't dead, and they have an extra teammate still waiting to fight. We have to think smart here. it would be obvious to get rid of Kaythrn, but that Flint is too strong and we need to knock him down a bit. Reginald put up a Counter, that way the take down will be Flint's big mistake number one. Hazel you're on Kathyrn duty, Shadow Sneak her. Shyguy informed me she has very little HP so that should do it. Reginald for second action keep up the heat with another Scald at Flint. Hazel, give Flint a good ole' Ominous Wind, though if his partner comes to the battle field give Her a taste of your Will-o-Wisp. Ok team, that should be enough of Kathyrn, it's down to Flint and the ice bug. Reginald put up another Counter, and thus making Flint's earthquake big mistake number two. Hazel won't be hurt by it, Reginald will have counter to pay back Flint, and the Scylar coming in should get a rude awakening. Hazel you got hurt quite a bit this round, so let's use the new opponent to our advantage. Pain Split on Yuki! Now if Yuki doesnt come out till next round or something (the last round not being fully done has kind of messed me up and i feel like i'm prone to a mistake), Then Confuse Ray Flint. he should be out of it by then, and we like our opponents confused.

WOW! Hazel and Reginald excellent! i didn't even know you guys had the strength to defeat Flint in one round! Ok, all thats standing in our way of victory is that Scylar. We can do this!

Reginald she's quicker than you, suprising isn't it? you've been fastest for a while. But thats okay, i want you to roll the wheel of luck and pull another Metronome, but if you detect danger coming your way, you know what to do! Hazel it's time to set up the Trick Room of Doom! Now second action you're fastest Hazel, so Yuki a taste of your Confuse Ray! Reginald you'll be faster than Yuki now, so go for a Thunder Bolt! At the end Hazel Yuki looks a little chilly, so let's warm her up with a Will-o-Wisp! Reginald you're at low health and i'm sure your opponent will be targeting you all this round. you might not be here for this, but if you're alive, do another Metronome!

Frak, that was certainly a major change in the winds. Well Yuki, this seems like the beginning of the end for us, but we shall go down fighting. Begin by using Blizzard, with compound eyes it's almost garunteed to hit them both, and it will force Regi to use detect instead of metronome. Follow up with an Earth Power on Reginald and then another Blizzard.

And Hazel should be doen to 45 after that metal claw.
 
Um, unless gerard posts super quickly, i'm afraid this battle will have to end shortly. i leave tomorrow morning for work, and i won't be able to get on ASB at all. Sorry Shyguy, we couldn't finish in time :/
