Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

Team of 2>team of 4. And real teams>both.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/customgame-159187940
Foul Play is the best way to get around Carbink, right? Especially with Reflect, that will obliterate it. Also, Quick Claw Kyogre, which activated when Vaporeon used Protect. Later, Vaporeon used Toxic on a substitute produced by the mighty SubAgility Staraptor.

How to make an Aegislash player forfeit in one easy step: Will-o-Wisp Gallade.

Round team and Air Balloon Meowstic-M.

Psychic Politoed and Energy Ball+Dynamic Punch Ludicolo.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/frost-oumonotype-940502
Mono Ground team starring Claydol, Stunfisk, Pupitar, Golurk, and Marowak. And getting completely obliterated by BellyJet Azumarill.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/almostanyability-159190150
Water Absorb Aromatisse is a new one. It worked, but it seems a bit odd to me.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/customgame-159194777
Clearly some staged gimmicks here, but we see Flamethrower+Blaze Kick+Overheat Blaziken and Vacuum Wave Heracross.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/frost-oumonotype-940698
I don't know what's worse: setting up on Quagsire or switching Crocune in on it. And we learn why having Slowbro in on SubDD Mega Gyarados is a bad idea.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/350cup-159193125
Shadow Claw Stunky, an attempt to stack SR, and physical Slowpoke.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/1v1-159198496
Damp finds a use, I guess.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oumonotype-159197245
Yanmega without Speed Boost, Thunderbolt Galvantula (which, given the aforementioned Yanmega, probably didn't have Compound Eyes), and some timely Quick Claw hax at the end.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-159197655
Never mind the hax, one guy had a TOGEPI on his team.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/customgame-159195445
Mono Fairy vs. Team Rejects, featuring some questionable move selections and some type chart derping early on. I was kinda hoping Sylveon would use Last Resort there for a moment; alas, my hopes were dashed.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/metronome-triplescustomgame-791
Looks like there was some sort of RPG happening here. But I'm pretty sure Explosion Metagross won't help your quest much. At least he was smart enough to run sashes on Galvantula and Infernape.

Metronome Battles: Mirror Match Edition.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oumonotype-159198530
Pikachu and Flame Charge+Double Kick Zebstrika (and Zebstrika in general).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/haxmons-159196374
And finally, the guy who apparently didn't realize what Haxmons is and ran Play Rough and Fire Blast.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-159854173
Red team invades BH, featuring Aguav Berry Snorlax, Hyper Beam Blastoise, Thunder Pikachu in sun, and no idea how to circumvent Spore. And for some reason, the other guy Mega Evolved his Mega Charizard Y into Mega Charizard X.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oumonotype-159850239
Nice Psycho Cut. And the Conversion Porygon2 kind of working.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/frost-oumonotype-946274
Quagsire forgoing Scald (protip: DON'T), Skull Bash+Power-up Punch+Payback+Rest Rhydon, Return Mega Aerodactyl (well, at least it gets the Tough Claws boost), Counter Regirock (which actually worked), and continuing to set up on Quagsire.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/triplescustomgame-159855153
Weather wars are one thing. Weather wars between two teammates, on the other hand...

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oumonotype-159862425
Aw darn, I was kinda hoping we'd see what that Gloom was running. Also, Toxicroak is a great answer to Weezing, right?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pu-159864518
Yeah, I know this is PU, but Dedenne is still trash. Especially when it gets OHKOed after SR by a resisted move (okay, it was +1, but still).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/customgame-159864513
You know your opponent's Gardevoir has Wonder Guard. What should your Blaziken do after its sash gets tripped? I know: HIGH JUMP KICK.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/frost-metronome-946420
Just because Mew is one of the only things that learns Metronome legitimately does not mean it should be the only mon on your team.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-159866455
Take a team of 6 Magikarps, one of them with Truant and all of them with shitty moves, pit them against a lone Regigigas, and you have this battle.

Butterfree probably had Tinted Lens as its Ability which would nullify the resistance to Bug. I thought something was up when it did a lot to Flareon, too.
+1 252+ SpA Tinted Lens Butterfree Bug Buzz vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Dedenne: 262-308 (94.9 - 111.5%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
Sure enough. But Dedenne is still trash.

That was really painful to watch.

This is actually under my alt, I wanted to see how valid -ate spam was, and I ran into a guy with..... a wurmple.
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-161136166
Another battle on that account, featuring what I'm assuming is a standard tier team, featuring fly crobat.

These are some of my matches from a while ago, but I figured I'd share them.

Truant Chansey, new meta.

Part of what's stupid here is that my brother played under my account, but he also used geomancy without power herb.

Blissey without Imposter, Swagplay Arceus (which worked, I guess), and Dialga staying in, and attacking, after Contrary had been negated by Gastro Acid.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oumonotype-161149662
Iron Defense+Aqua Jet Empoleon is a good check to Moxie Scrafty, right? It's not like your weak to one of its STAB moves... (also, there was a Hitmonchan, although it wasn't sent out)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/1v1-161157875
aesf gets excited for hitting 4 Focus Blasts in a row. And apparently, Porygon2 and Focus Blast Kyub are things in 1v1 now. (And more random not-sent-out shitmons, Torkoal in this one.)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pu-161154685
And that is what you get for letting that Leavanny set up on you. Of course, he could have just run QD on Butterfree and gotten the same result faster. This is, of course, coming from a guy who kept using resisted attacks against Togetic, including at least two 4x resists.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/oumonotype-161154785
Flare Blitz+Ancient Power Mega Charizard Y, Ninetales on that team as well, and a Foul Play non-mega Houndoom. (And no hazard control, although that didn't come into play here.)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogontriples-161153174
Prepare for arguably the most cringeworthy battle ever in the history of Pokemon.

Bounce Mega Gyarados, mixed Whiscash, Whiscash at all, and some karma when one guy faked not having Sturdy on Golem, only to lose it thanks to Mold Breaker.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pu-161159071
Weak Armor Vanilluxe, and Basculin using Final Gambit while at 3% HP left, among other things.

Assault Vest Luxray. Someone obviously didn't read that Smog article.

Bisharp without Defiant, Shadow Claw Tyranitar, and Dragon Claw Pangoro Pangoro at all.

Well to be fair, the chances of me breaking through para, hitting 4 focus blasts in a row, and getting a drop are: .7*.7*.7*.7*.75*.75*.75*.36 = 3.6% chance, a.k.a. .000036% chance in pokemon.

And to be fair, Torkoal and Specs Kyurem-B are actually somewhat legit in 1v1

I had a BH match against destiny bond stantler and pressure shuckle that could, get this, be stalled out just by switching. Sadly, I had to leave early and the guy got a win they really didn't deserve, I also don't have the replay.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/almostanyability-161282289
I do have a replay of my AAA featuring sky attack braviary, non max speed, berry juice talonflame, and a lot of stupid move decisions. I literally just had to click dragon pulse the entire fight.

Swagger gimmick worked, but there was a normal Mawile without Intimidate on a team for no real good reason.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pu-161815134
Chatot gets walled completely by Soundproof Mr. Mime, and a Bastiodon thinks it has offensive presence. Also, setting up Toxic Spikes when your opponent has Arbok in reserve is generally not a good idea.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/triplescustomgame-161819813
More Metronome battles, featuring arguably the biggest hazard of them: Imprison.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pu-161822503
SubCM Meowstic-M, Skull Bash Power Herb Bouffalant, Bright Powder (probably) Pidgeot, and Feather Dance everywhere.

Will-o-Wisp+dual screens+Shadow Sneak Gallade. It worked as well as it sounds, which is to say, it didn't work very well.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-161827231
Outraging on a mono Steel team is bad enough. Outraging on a Klefki... Also, there was an Altaria that pointlessly used Heal Bell. And Dragon Clawed Klefki.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pu-161822812
Oh, by the way, Vibrava is Ground type. (And please don't tell me I'm not the only one who didn't know Tangela could learn Power Swap.) Also, Specs Rest Altaria new meta.

A mono Rock team with Archen that needs to learn how Magic Bounce works.

Love, make sure you're the better player of the two before you try to ridicule the other (and no, "but I won" is not an argument).

Also Rest is standard on Specs Altaria because you really don't need 4 attacks (Dragon hits next to everything in PU) and Natural Cure solves yr sleep problem ;o tbh using Vibrava, Band Fearow and Power Swap Tangela is way gimmickier so ehhh

With the ban on Focus Sash, Protect+Disable+Encore Alakazam has to make a choice of what item to use. Well, the one I just faced ran a Rocky Helmet. He also learned the hard way that this particular strategy doesn't work against Talonflame.

I know this is, like, the millionth time I've quoted one of your posts and said "Actually, this is viable!" but I feel obligated to do so again. That set is pretty bad, but Rocky Helmet does cause the opponent to take more damage when they Struggle (obviously a very real possibility) or use a contact move.
