Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

Random Shit: Not Quite 1000 Edition

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-229681704
Altaria not mega evolving in front of an Outraging Mega Kangaskhan, and some other shitty mons that weren't sent out.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-229676452
Mono Clefable BP chain team vs. a guy who can't tell the difference between physical and special. Either that, or he's stuck in Gen 3.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-229681457
Same guy, linking to the previous replay, nearly getting completely wrecked by a Quiver Dance Mega Slowbro.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/1v1-229682191
Protecting on a Hyper Beam recharge turn. Genius.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-229681808
Not entirely sure how common Mega Mewtwo Y is in AG, but one thing's for sure: you should have something better than Bullet Punch normal Metagross and Signal Beam Kingdra to deal with it.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen1randombattle-229680583
For those of you who are unfamiliar with RBY mechanics, crits ignore all stat changes. Including your own Swords Dance. Turn 13 is also a rather hilarious example of RBY mechanics.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-229680547
Pikaclone team starring Boomburst Dedenne vs. a team with 2 QuickPass Ninjasks and a Psystrike+Psychic MMY. Pikaclone team wins handily.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-229679393
The infamous Foul Play Umbreon, Zekrom (the real one) using Shadow Claw on it, Shadow Ball Zoroark, Reshiram using Extrasensory on Sableye, and neither Smeargle having Moody.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/triplescustomgame-229680775
Kingler vs. Kingler Metronome battle with a rather hilarious ending.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-229686689
Aqua Tail Milotic, Toxic Garchomp, Charge Luxray, and an Emboar sweep.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-229686656
Another Luxray, another Charizard not mega evolving (and later using Acrobatics), Lumineon, a freaking EEVEE with a freaking TOXIC ORB, and Razor Leaf Venusaur.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-229688741
More fails, including Giga Impact Klinklang and Flash Cannon Doublade.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-229689163
Yeah, I get that you're not getting Electric STAB anywhere else, but when are people going to realize that Dedenne is complete and utter garbage?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-229689475
RUN IN FEAR!

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/1v1-229688752
Hyper Beam Aegislash, and neither player aware that Hyper Beam doesn't need to recharge if it doesn't work.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-229834900
Left side:
  • Groudon using Precipice Blades on a Hawlucha (two Stone Edges would have finished it off).
  • Bite + Hammer Arm (unused, but revealed by Musharna's Forewarn) Tornadus-T.
  • Mixed Malamar with Superpower but without Contrary.
  • Quilava.
Right side: two Pokémon holding a BrightPowder (Musharna and Slurpuff). Always unmasked at the worst moments.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-229837468
Left side:
  • Aguav Berry Garchomp with Earth Power, Crunch and Aqua Tail.
  • Wise Glasses Gengar.
  • Non-Mega Charizard with AIR BALLOON.
Right side:
  • Giga Drain Ferrothorn.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-229838178
Left side:
  • Crunch + Superpower Hippowdon. If we add Stealth Rock, only one of a Rock-type coverage (way better than the two aforementioned moves), Earthquake, Slack Off and Whirlwind is present at most.
  • Normal Gem Zygarde with Dragon Pulse and Brick Break.
  • Normal Gem (again?) Claydol to power up its Explosion.
  • Acid Spray Quagsire (to reinforce its Scalds, this time?).
Right side: Nothing particularly silly, even if it's surprising to have Quagsire as its rain setter and a nice anti-Dark lure in Dazzling Gleam Starmie.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-229838196
Left side:
  • A Mega Swampert, under rain at 26%, has just KOed your Bisharp. You have a Talonflame. What are you sending out to revenge kill it? Gengar, then Greninja, both swiftly eliminated.
  • Forfeited when his Mega Metagross missed its Zen Headbutt vs. a Gengar. Of course, if your Greninja was still alive at this point with its 100% accurate Dark Pulse...

Dragonite inexplicably gets Thunder and Hurricane and freaking Surf. The rest of its special movepool is pretty garbage, but Zapdos and Thundurus would kill for a set like that.

Anyway, here's today's batch, starting with:
  • (R) Mixed Jirachi with Dynamic Punch, which hits and one-shots a Ditto, and Thunder. Also had Doom Desire, but that's slowly starting to make its way into viability, so we'll let that slide.
  • (L) Six-Ditto team. These Dittos are non-Imposter and non-Scarfed.
  • (R) Alright InfernapeTropius11, here's your Special Dragonite. This one had Surf, Fire Blast, Hurricane, and Blizzard, but no Choice item or Life Orb or even Leftovers. (Please be Vest or Belt, that at least makes a little sense.)
  • (R) Six-Dittos still loses, thanks to Arceus entering the fray and sweeping with Judgment, which is what you get when you use Limber Ditto.
From there, we move on to:
  • (L) Giratina-Origin with Aerial Ace, Aqua Tail, and, of course, Shadow Force. Tina can, of course, actually pull a two-turn move off, a luxury only reserved for a select few (Bounce vanilla Gyarados, for example), but Flying and Water coverage hit what?
  • (R) Zoroark sent out as just an ordinary mon (the sixth slot having fainted). Also had Extrasensory.
  • (L) Three-attacks Togekiss, with Fire Blast running alongside STABs. Well, that takes care of Scizor, at least.
  • (L) Mega Garchomp with Poison Jab, which is just barely more powerful than STAB EQ against Fairies. So not worth it, since Poison coverage tends to be run specifically for Fairies, versus the overall versatility of EQ.
  • (L/R) Aegislash and Chesnaught face off...and both go for their respective Protect variants. Hilarious.
  • (R) Chesnaught not Spiky Shielding on an obvious Shadow Sneak would probably count if it weren't at three percent as the last mon standing. Sometimes it's just over.

Brb making new Inheritance set.

(L) Giratina-Origin with Aerial Ace, Aqua Tail, and, of course, Shadow Force.
Shadow Force isn't that bad as it catches special walls off guard expecting Draco or something. The other moves, not so much. At least it was Giratina-O and not -A.

InfernapeTropius11

get on my level
Tbh, Dragonite special movepool isn't even too bad. With Surf, Thunder/Thunderbolt, Hurricane, Dragon Pulse/Draco Meteor, Fire Blast/Flamethrower/Heat Wave, Focus Blast, and Ice Beam it can be very goodeither on Rain teams or as a donor in Inheritance. Just uh, don't use it outside of those kind of teams, physical is just better otherwise o.o

It's not a complete mismatch like, say, Chansey having a ridiculous movepool and no stat to use it with (thus giving Blissey a large part of her niche), and base 100 is actually pretty decent for a special Dragon. It's sort of in the same vein as Garchomp or Charizard-X, with an off-stat a lot of mons wish was their main stat.

Anyway, here's more:
  • (R) Fully offensive Mega Sableye with Dynamic Punch and Dazzling Gleam. Base 85 and 85 there, folks. If you want a Magic Bouncer with offensive presence, Diancie's your mon. (Also Espeon.)
  • (L) Mega Garchomp with Crunch. Um, what are you hitting with that?
  • (L) Blaziken using High Jump Kick on Sableye. Learn the damn type chart, people.
  • (L) Darkrai with Roar of Time.
  • (R) Mewtwo with Magic Coat, using it on the turn ROT recharged and then against a Tyranitar.
  • (R) This Darkrai had Phantom Force. Eh, I guess you can make it work?
  • (R) Rayquaza with V-Create and Stone Edge. Not bad moves to have by themselves, but I suspect it's foregoing something more useful to have them together.
  • (L) Torrent Greninja. Face, meet palm. No Life Orb either. (Physical also, with Night Slash being the only move it got to show.)
  • (L) Tyranitar with Brick Break and Thunder Punch. Hitting what exactly? Well, see below:
  • (R) Lock-On/Sheer Cold Smeargle...with no Sash. Yeah, you can guess what happened next.
  • (R) Arceus-Fairy with Perish Song and Twister. That's a 40 BP Dragon move (on a Fairy!) with a 20% flinch.
  • (L) Lugia packing a second attacking move: Earthquake. It gets Earth Power, not that that's the type you want for an offensive Lugia.
And another:
  • (L) Darkrai with an Enigma Berry, and not switching out on Hitmonchan. (To be fair, it almost got it, but Chan had already Mach Punched it down to the berry, allowing it a chance to escape.)
  • (R) How to deal with Mega Ray: Explode using Bronzong, then use Dragonite to Ice Punch. See? Who said it's broken? (/sarcasm).
  • (R) Walrein using Hail while Primal Kyogre is on the field. (Also, if you need a hail setter, just use Aurorus.)

Except Sableye is also a Ghost type and Ghost is immune to Fighting.

EDIT: Didn't even notice we were on a new page. Ninja'd, nevermind, etc. Anyway, here's another one for ya.
  • (L) Kings Rock Weavile with Beat Up. Screw Cinccino, this is how you flinch! Sadly, it only got one kill before taking a Superpower to the face courtesy of Haxorus.
  • (R) Superpower on Haxorus is a new one, for that matter. And even if you do have an SE move, why are you coming in on a base-120 known Ice Shard user?
  • (L) Medicham sweep (until the forfeit, anyway), but this one had Bulk Up and Power Trick. Well, you aren't Shuckle, at least. Note that this is standard Medicham. The stats you're swapping are 60 for 75. Huge help.

Remember the guy from earlier? He uses hawlucha to beat up an LC team.

I'll post more on thdhted's journey through low ladder AG later.

another replay of my team.

Confuse ray sableye. With poison jab. On a klefkey behind a substitute.

Moonblast, trick room, draining kiss gardevoir. Non-mega of course.

Leftovers greninja, using gunk shot on a klefkey.
