Simisear [0/3]

Overview
########
  • Relatively high speed for the pu tier
  • Great mixed attacking stats
  • Access to the ever incredible Nasty Plot
  • Great coverage
  • Mediocre Bulk
  • Lack of useful Physical moves
  • Simisear faces stiff competition from ninetales but has the ability to beat Lickilicky with focus blast.

Nasty Plot
########

Name: Nasty Plot
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Fire Blast
move 3: Focus Blast
move 4: Grass Knot / Hidden Power Electric
Ability: Blaze
Item: Life Orb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid

Moves
========
  • Nasty Plot is your boosting move and the main advantage the monkeys have over a lot of other heavy special hitters in the tier, with your already decent spA and near-perfect coverage, it makes it easy to force switches and get nice boosting opportunities vs most teams.
  • Fire Blast is obvious, obligatory high powered stab.
  • Focus Blast is there to allow you to hit common special walls like licki and bastiodon.
  • Grass Knot is if you prefer the extra power vs grounded water types and Hidden Power electric is there if you really need a way to handle mantine or swanna in a clinch.

Set Details
========
  • Life Orb obviously, to take advantage of your coverage and to help boost your already nice spA.
  • Timid is necessary to keep your speed high enough to outspeed the likes of Basculin, Leavanny, Mr.Mime, Dodrio and Swanna.
  • Blaze is it's only ability that actually does anything.
Usage Tips
========

  • It's main goal is to sweep late game after spikes have been stacked and the opposing walls have been sufficiently weakened and you can create an opportunity to get it in and get off a free np.
  • Simisear is a very fragile mon so pressuring your opponent into making moves you want them to make is key in order to pull off a successful sweep.

Team Options
========

  • Simisear benefits from webs more so than a lot of other pu mons, w/ webs up and it's ability to force switches it can easily dominate an offense v offense matchup with it's nice speed tier and large damage output.
  • Simisear also benefits from spikes and spins, a spinner allows it to come in more safely and spikes allow it to net the ko's it needs to break the opposing team much easier.

Other Options
########
  • Moveset-Wise Simisear doesn't have any other options besides hp ground, if you really want to beat Camerupt and Friends though i would just advise you to use Simipour.
  • Substitute + 2 attacks is an option on simisear, in which you sacrifice coverage for increased longevity and the occasional chance to net a free kill vs opposing offensive teams.
  • Specs is also a not-too-bad-but-still-kinda-bad set that allows it to hit hard and fast, but it's pretty sub-par compared to some other specs users in the tier.
  • Simisear and all the other monkeys get taunt, making them some of the fastest Taunt users in the tier, allowing you to shut down sticky web leads and certain defensive mons, namely bastiodon.
  • On the phsyical side Simisear has options in Rock Slide and Low Kick allowing it to 2hko mantine and have a nice chance of 2hkoing Licki after rocks.
Checks & Counters
########

**Special Walls**: Many common special walls, such as Lickilicky, Mantine and Pelliper can easily shut down Simisear before it gets a boost under it's belt and then either damaging it with super-effective moves like Scald or crippling it's damage output with Knock Off.

**Fast Offensive Water Types**: Some of the faster water types in the tier, of which there are two, Simipour and Floatzel check Simisear with their se stab moves and ability to outspeed and ko it with relative ease. In the case of Simipour it comes down to a speed tie but an unboosted Simisear can't ohko it with any of it's coverage moves where as Simipour can.

**Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Simisear's frailty leads to it having a big problem with faster, stronger Pokemon. It's ohko'd after rocks by the likes of Purugly, Raichu, Rapidash and it's even outright OHKO'd by Tauros.

Two things:

-Mention that the np set faces severe competition with ninetales, its only real advantage is focus blast.

-simisear is one of the better taunt users in PU, the ability to prevent kricketune from getting webs up is invaluable for offensive teams. Definitely mention it somewhere.

I forgot ninetales existed honestly, and i'll edit in taunt somewhere

You might want to mention more about focus blast, how its the only niche over ninetales. In oo, maybe mention knock off or rock slide (rock slide will 2hko mantine), sub + salac (like simipour - helps vs scarfers or things that outspeed it), even low kick (has a good chance to 2hko licki with rocks, whilst will hit unlicke focus blast).

  • Simisear faces stiff competition from ninetales but it better overall coverage makes it better in almost all situations. has the ability to beat Lickilicky with focus blast.
That belongs in overview.

Lastly your checks and counters section is a bit wierd. There should be a sub topic title between two ** and the stuff below. Look at this from the bouffalant analysis:
**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types, such as Gourgeist, Misdreavus, and Haunter can take care of Bouffalant fairly easily as they don't care about Return, Head Charge, and Earthquake, and can usually wall it in some cases; however, the latter needs to be wary of Pursuit.

im not qc, bumping this thread with a few suggetsions of mine, feel free to ignore though :p

Overview:

  • Lack of useful Physical moves
- This isn't relevant at all, because physical Simisear sucks (Fully outclassed with a special attacking set that allows it to boost up and hit harder.
- When talking about Simisear facing competition from Ninetales, you probably should remove the part about Lickilicky, as beating Lickilicky isn't enough to use Simisear over Ninetales.

Set:

- Remove the space between the second name and the above.

Moves:

- Mention that Grass Knot hits Ground-types that can be troublesome for Ninetales, and also hits heavy Rock-types better than Focus Blast (such as Carracosta) that resist its primary STAB,

Set Details:

- You didn't mention why the EVs are there. These are analyses for beginners, so mentioning them will always be good :]

Team Options:

- Mention T-wave along Sticky web, also put examples of these Pokemon.
- Mention Defog along rapid spin, also put examples of these pokemon.
- Instead of mentioning Spikes, just say Hazards / stealth rock etc. helps too.
- Mention slow volt switchers and uturners that help simisear get in safely and lets it set up after.

Other Options:

- Mention that Substitute helps it to avoid status, such as T-Wave that can cripple it otherwise.

C&C:

- Mention powerful priority that beats it because of the mediocre bulk you mention in the Overview.

You can ignore this because I am not QC, but I have some suggestions (and I use Simipour, which is played the same):

Overview:
######
  • Lack of useful Physical moves
- As Soulblaster mentioned, there are some good moves. So you should probably change it.
  • Mediocre Bulk
- I suggest that you expand on that. You could mention that it is frail enough that it can only switch in into weak, resisted attacks.

Usage Tips:
=======
You can probably buff it up a little. Maybe mention how it can only go in on something that Simisear resists.

I would review the whole thing, but I need to start working on Munchlax. Just remember, maybe beef it up a bit.

I don't have time to go over all of this right now, but beating Lickilicky is absolutely a valid reason to use it over Ninetales, which is better in most ways but can't break through the premier special wall of the tier, unlike Simisear.

Overview
#######
Also mention its superior speed to ninetales (beats stuff like dodrio)

Nasty Plot
########
Moves
========
Split grass knot and hp electric into 2 points
Mention the pokes Gknot hits harder

Set Details
========
Only need 1 or 2 examples for timid, remove basc (it will ajet) and leavanny (always a lead)

Usage Tips
========
The second point doesnt really make much sense

Team Options
========
Split hazards and hazard removal into two different parts. Name KO's hazards let it get
Mention pokes that beat its checks and counter

Other Options
########
Change the first line wording

Checks & Counters
########

**Special Walls**: Remove lickilicky as it loses to simi, also change pelipper as it is a physical wall which gets KOd by +2 lo fire blast after rocks

**Fast Offensive Water Types**: Change this to just water types. Mention mokes that take nothing from GK (relicanth), or can live one (lapras). Mention aqua jet pokes here

**Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Just call this 'Faster Pokemon'

Make a section about priority, as it has mediocre bulk so easily RK'd
