The Great Melee

8-way 1-Pokemon melee.
3 Day DQ. Not messing around, and I will try to meet it. But no promises.
Orders are PM'd. You may get three subs. Conflicting subs cancel.
All abilities
Unlimited chills and recovers
Items=One
Mega Evolutions=One
I reserve the right to do insane things with the arena or reduce DQ to 2 days if my schedule gets inanely busy because I hit the not-casual part of fan fic writing again.
Arena=Backgrounds Promotion

Basically, my fic has four parts following four characters as they more or less do their own things. The "arena" will contain these four parts. When players PM their Pokemon and item, they will PM which part they wish to start in. Instead of issuing orders, a player may choose to order POKEMON: MOVE TO X AREA for a round. This will cost 24 Energy, cause them to immediately (A0) leave their current area and move to the desired area at the end of the round. The use of Pursuit against a fleeing Pokemon on A1 will automatically block the move and leave the target open for attack on R2. Switch-forcing moves will randomly send the target to another portion of the arena at the end of the round with no energy cost. Self-switching moves will allow the user to move to a pre-determined other portion of the arena with no additional energy cost. Other users moving can be subbed against. Trapping moves and abilities block movement. Abilities that activate on switching will work for moving to different areas. Stat drops and temporary status will also change as if a switch took place.

Deep inside Viridian Forest, a small community of religious extremists thrives. They frown upon Pokemon training, and battling in particular, so this should be a generally same place for Pokemon. Should be. In this town, a budding artist practices his trade and maybe sort of ruffles some feathers. I don't know. You would have to read the story to find out. There might also be something to do with a miraculous healer.

The arena is the town's courtyard. Stone buildings surround on all sides and a small pond provides water. Grass grows through cracks in the pavement and their are certainly stones lying around, as well as nothing to inhibit weather. Basically, a default arena with some flavor effects based on the fic.

-Fairy moves have a Mold Breaker effect and +2BP. This is, after all, a rather holy place.
-Users of dark and ghost moves will be instantly burned by an angry mob. This is the burn status.
-All Pokemon will be able to get a (very temporary) sketch move moving into the arena. PM the ref what move you would like it to be upon entry. Should entry be forced, you will simply have 'sketch.' Leaving the arena for another area will wipe the sketch move. It will not remain after the battle. Multiple sketch moves can be chosen over the course of the battle if the arena is entered multiple times.
-All moves except for fairy moves have 1 less Base Power.
-Healing moves and chill have a restorative effect multiplied by 1.5

Grandstands rise high into the sky before a large pool. Platforms, glass walls, and lots of potential toys litter the area to help trainers put on performances with their Pokemon. Maybe one would take place here. And maybe a very sarcastic programmer would work here. I don't know. You'd have to read the fic.

-Combinations of two damaging moves have the added priority of the moves instead of the usual combination bracket. They will not cooldown if they score a finishing blow.
-Combinations featuring at least one non-damaging move will not require a cooldown.
-There is no grass or rocks. This is a showroom for water types.
-Surf has --- accuracy.
-Encore costs only 5 energy
-OHKO moves have 60% accuracy

Ponyta, Rapidash, Duduo, Dodrio and Tauros live here in large numbers. Indeed, this is rather common in rural Kanto in the shadow of Mount Moon. Families have to make a living, somehow, and this is one of the few places in the whole region with the open space. While attacking the ranch Pokemon is frowned upon, at least one person frequently trains here so they are used to it.

-No water source
-Changing weather is frowned upon
-Sound moves are frowned upon.
-Spread moves are frowned upon.
-Stat changes don't decay.
-Double team costs five more energy, because no spread moves is annoying.

Because people dying on ships is entirely something that I have never done before. Welcome to a luxury cruise liner. Someone died here. No one quite knows why. I suppose a young writer and her friend could solve it. Or not. I don't know, I haven't quite got around to writing this part yet.

-Confusion does not decay.
-Ghost and dark moves have STAB on all mons. Those who already have STAB gain it again.
-Ghost and dark mons gain filter.
-Finishing a Pokemon off in this arena grants +6 Eva. This decays one rank at the end of every round.
-"Search for clues" will reduce the evasion of all Pokemon with the above boost in the arena by 2 and costs ten energy. If targeted by a Pokemon with a positive evasion stat while using this move, the taken damage is multiplied by 1.5.
-Petal Dance, Thrash, Outrage, and any similar moves I may have missed do not inflict confusion at the end of their usage.
-Moves with the word "dance" in them cost no energy.

Stats: 90/3+(6 Pure Power)/3/1-/3/80 3/3 15(18 Pure Power)
Mega: 90/5+(9 Pure Power)/3/2-/3/100 3/3 19(23 Pure Power)

Abilities:
Pure Power:
This Pokemon has immense inner strength that grows with its development, raising its Attack and its Base Rank Total by one Rank for each evolution level (first of three stages = 1, first of two stages or second of three stages = 2, fully evolved = 3). If Skill Swapped, the swapped Pokemon's Attack and Base Rank Total is only raised by one Rank.
Telepathy:
This Pokemon has a mental link with its allies in multiple battles, which allows it to avoid taking damage from allied attacks that damage each foe or the entire field like Blizzard and Earthquake. They are still affected by an opponents spread damage attacks.

Matezoide:

<Muk> (Bosco) (Male)

Nature: Quiet (-10% evasion)
Type: Poison

Poison: Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic status. Absorb Toxic Spikes on switch-in unless Flying-typed or using the ability Levitate. -- Accuracy when using Toxic, Poison Gas, or Poison Powder, hitting even during Dig, Fly, etc. Ignore Fog's accuracy reduction. Store Command.

Store Command: For the next six (6) actions, this Pokemon's moves will have their poison / toxic effect chance double. Type Exclusive commands can only be used by Pokemon that are naturally that type, and are still available if the Pokemon changes type.

Command Type: Type Exclusive | Accuracy: -- | Energy Cost: 5 | Priority: 0 | CT: None

About: When his pack was forced to run away from Twilight's Fire-Blast, Steve's Dig was able to catch him off-guard and KO, since then, Bosco has shown to be an extremely quirky Grimer, highly energetic and cheerful towards his team mates regardless of the situation, he can be described as the team's cheer-leader. He is also extremely fond of costumes.

Abilites:

Stench (Passive):

This Pokemon has a foul odor that reeks into each of its attacks, causing all of them to have a 10% flinch rate. This applies to each hit of a multi-hit move.

Sticky Hold (Passive):

This Pokemon’s body is covered in a sticky substance that prevents item theft or swapping.

Poison Touch (HIDDEN ABILITY UNLOCKED, Toggle):

Default effect: This Pokemon's body is covered with a film of poison. Whenever it hits an opponent with a contact attack, that opponent has a 30% chance of being Poisoned.

Alternative effect: This Pokemon's natural toxins are more potent. As a result, all of this Pokemon's attacks that inflict regular poison will inflict Toxic poison instead (with the same chance of effect).

Your sprite isn't weird anymore.
Bastion (Lucario (M))
Nature: Naive (+Spe, -SpD)

Type:

- Fighting: Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.

- Steel: Steel STAB; immune to Sandstorm damage, immune to Poison/Toxic status, but can be corroded specifically by Acid and Acid Spray, making them susceptible to Poison-type attacks and Poison/Toxic Status.

Abilities:

- Steafast (Passive): If this Pokemon is flinched, it becomes aware of the speed difference and increases Speed by one (1) stage to make up the difference. This Speed boost is maintained at the end of each round.

- Inner Focus (Passive): When an opponent attempts to flinch this Pokemon, it stands firm and continues its attack. If it has another ability that would be activated by flinching, that ability activates.

- Justified (Passive) (UNLOCKED): This Pokemon's body reacts to dark energy, invigorating its passions. When hit by a Dark-type move, the Pokemon's attack will increase one (1) stage. A boost gained this way by another Pokemon's attack will be maintained at the end of each round. Self-targeted attacks do not maintain boosts.

Spectators. Combatants. Superhumans bent on saving or destroying the world. None of the above. Welcome. Today we will witness a match between a plethora of a combatants spanning four arenas and five narrators. I am the first of five, as well as your host. Who am I? Doesn't matter. I'm just here to give commentary that our other narrators could not possibly know about. And be generally awesome. Feel free to bask in the awesomeness of my sheer written power for another moment or so.

Done? Really? You sure? Good.

Now to go to our narrators to give bullshit background information you don't care about.

It was early fall. My favorite season. It was back when Umber still had a Pokemon Center and traveling trainers would occasionally visit the area. That all stopped of course, but at the time it was legal and tolerated, however begrudgingly. There were two here now. Andrea and I were helping them out in the center. We told them not to leave the area around it when at all possible, but they didn't listen.

"Hey, either of you here? We're back!" Andrea called out into the center as we walked in. She brushed her auburn bangs aside and frowned as she stared into the darkness and shadows inside the building. "Well, great, where could they have gone? Hope nothing happened."

She turned to me to see if I had any ideas. I shrugged. Internally, I was nervous. The Community was not overly fond of outsiders coming in. Especially trainers. I made contact with her sienna eyes and grimaced before turning to leave and walking along the path to the chapel. If the Reverend, or anyone else, had done anything they would be there. A ways across town, we found a ring of people lined in confusion and shock. Two people stood in the middle of the square, facing each other down with Pokemon in front of them. Andrea took her palm to her face and I resisted the urge to groan.

I never liked battles, but I was by far more tolerant of them than the average Community member. There was no way this ended well.

One trainer was far older than I was. He even approached the age of some of the elders. He had a strange, jaw-like white beard and an equally white shirt with gray stripes. He had an ebony cape that parted int eh middle. When the wind blew it flew up like bat wings. Supposedly he was a gym leader in some far off region. It made sense. I could not identify his accent and he had a ton of rock types he liked to talk about when we brought up Pokemon. In front of him was a massive Rhydon wielding a strange white stone I had never seen before. The man said it helped with Pokemon who had not reached their last evolution yet. That meant that Rhydon could evolve. I had not known that, and spent a few nights trying to sketch out what a Rhydon evolution would look like.

The second trainer was only about ten years older than Andrea and I. He had thick glasses and a black jacket. Most strangely, he had a weird striped green shirt and wore his jacket in a way that made me almost confuse it for a scarf from a distance. Andrea said he looked sort of like a hipster. I nodded and agreed. I have no idea what a hipster is or what one would look like. In front of him was a large white bird with blue and red shapes on its body. The boy had said that it was a symbol of peace overseas. I had to wonder why a Pokemon like that would like battling.

I did not know what strange techniques these Pokemon would learn in far away lands, but I made quick sketches to help myself imagine. One was of the Rhydon looking much smaller than normal. The other was of the bird blasting out a cool blue barrage of wind at an opponent, causing ice crystals to gleam around its feet.

'Sup. Unlike my 'friend' above, I will actually bother to explain who I am and what anything I allude to is before explaining the starting conditions. Articuno, it is like he does not even get how exposition is supposed to work. I have one good arm, a really strained relationship with my mother, and a love of Gyarados that caused the first two. Well, sort of. It is actually a long story. By which I mean a nearly 50,000 word story. And that is all I am really comfortable saying.

I work at a marine park in the Seafoam Islands most of the year. My main job is as a coder, making machines that teach moves and tricks to the show Pokemon with far more ease than a human trainer could. I have also been known to do normal training with my Gyarados and an overly dependent Lapras and maybe also make death machines for a Bond villain on the side. Like I said, it is a long story.

As I walked into the park's main arena one day, I saw someone who I am pretty sure did not work there. By which I mean, of course, he did not work there. I may be crippled and intolerably smarmy but I am not blind. He looked just like the stereotypical trainer from the west in children's cartoons. Which I might watch. There is not a whole lot else to do at three in the morning when the pain in my arm and my cortisol and other things keep me from getting to sleep.

I made my way down to the stage to get him off. I needed to train my Gyarados, and the interruption was not appreciated. "Sorry, folks, park's closed," I called. "Well, not all of the park, but this part happens to be."

He looked up in stunned silence before muttering something about an organized melee in the area. So he was the quiet type. Fun. I vaguely remembered seeing a sign about an upcoming event like that, so I decided not to evict him. Gyarados training would have to wait, unfortunately. It was strange that he was waiting for a melee alone. Multi-man matches are sort of defined by being multiplayer, you know.

He had a Medicham beside him, focusing intently on something while standing on one leg. I can appreciate Medicham. I have studied meditation and pressure points for a while, which has really only taught me how hard it can be at times. Looking at the Pokemon, though, you would not know it.

Hey, y'all. My name's Oliver. I set out to be the very best some time ago. It, well, I haven't quite published that yet and my agent wants me to keep it under wraps. Something about spoilers or whatnot. I can say that it didn't quite work out as I intended to and I ended up at home on the family ranch. It's not really that bad of a place. I just never liked it. Not really my style and I don't care much for my parents getting in my way all the time. Hard to get used to that again when you've been on the road.

But before all that, I was on the family ranch relatively happily. Occasionally trainers would stop by on their quest and we'd show 'em some hospitality. Today there were a lot of them, and they all wanted to battle to see who was the best out back. One was just your standard run of the mill older teenage trainer in the region. He had a wicked Gallade with sword arms and a belt. Looked awesome. Another had strange style and the oddest hair I had seen in a while. It was almost gold and I had no idea how he maintained it on the road. In front of him was a strange green lizard with a long tongue. It wasn't native and it wasn't big, but it didn't look all too tough. I could probably beat it. If I still had Pokemon, of course. There was another stereotypical male trainer. Nothing too fancy 'bout him. He was using a Lucario. Gela and Lenore say they're over-hyped, but I think they're awesome. They've got spikes and powerful fists, so there's a limit to how lame they could be. The fourth trainer was only a kid. Not entirely sure if he was old enough to have a license but he was close. 'Course, one of my better friends got her first Pokemon when she was six, so it happens 'round here. Then again, her family's rather powerful and it was only a Magikarp, so I don't know if that's normal. He, surprisingly, had a full grown Muk. The things smell worse than Tauros manure, but they can hold their own in a fight when they need to. Pretty awesome that way.

So, the four of them squared off amongst the Tauros and Rapidash. I wasn't sure how that was gonna end up. Probably not too good, if I had to reckon. It ain't hard to set off the Pokemon and it ain't easy to control them once they've started to stampede.

Waves continued to rhythmically rock the boat as Edgar and I explored the halls of the SS Anne. They were poorly lit, surprising given the events that had just transpired there. A few doors creaked open, but most people stayed locked away in their rooms or in the crowded halls. They had the illusion of safety there. But we very much doubted there was any substance to that mirage. One little push and it would all go up in smoke.

But that push had not yet come. While three people had died in mysterious circumstances and the boat was filled with international agents and spies seeking to investigate, it had been days since the murderer had struck with the fury of black death. The question of the killer's identity itself compelled me to find an answer.

In the shadows and rocking waves we continued onwards. We past more doors closed and locked by the fearful and those of residents partying and chattering away on the upper decks as if nothing had changed around them. Perhaps they cared; perhaps they did not. Some of the most powerful men in the region and the world were on this ship. To some of them, three lives was a figure that bordered on insignificance. A minnow dead in the ocean means little to the sharks.

At last we came across another lonely wanderer of the world, condemned with the great curse of humanity to drift idly for an eternity before black death tears us apart. He carried a sheathed sword at his side, which immediately raised questions of intention and a need for caution lest our drifting end sooner. His eyes were filled with determination. The look of a man who wrestles with demons, men, and gods and has concluded that none are worthy of his concern, yet none are beneath his notice. A storyteller in word and blood. Edgar stepped aside, unwilling to force a confrontation with such an imposing figure. I recorded a record in my mind in case we should meet again. A Smeargle soon rushed by our knees, its tail flowing behind it as it ran to keep pace with his master. The species is intriguing. A race nearly incapable of action beyond recording and repeating those of others. Just like the vast majority of humanity.

THINGS YOU SHOULD BE DOING NOW

PM'ing orders. 2 Actions worth. Sending in RP information on your character will also help with flavor, as this match will have a lot as it is partially a writing exercise. You should also be making alliances and talking via IRC, especially if there are other people in your area. And maybe also reading a certain fanfic on the Internet that can be read on ff.net and serebii written by a certain user with my exact same username. What a coincidence.

But that isn't necessary.

I will not accept orders after the end of Wednesday, GMT -5.

Welcome. Most of you were wise enough to send orders, I see. Well, at least those of you playing. I assume this means your lives have been going well and you had plenty of time to think over orders for a Pokemon melee instead of dealing with the problems of the world. Think what impact you could have had on world hunger or the international sex trade in the time you've spent on Pokemon in the last three days. Yup. Just let that sink in. Pwnemon is the only true humanitarian among you all.

And in exchange, you all attacked him mercilessly. Or camped mercilessly while setting up for other people who might hypothetically come to you. Or went directly into the heart of the fighting for some dumb reason.

You are all wonderful people. In fact, you are so wonderful that I am now going to toss you to four other people to deal with. See you later, assholes.

I grew nervous as the townspeople continued to flock around the imminent battle. Andrea had crossed her arms and was tapping her feet on the ground in annoyance. She didn't seem afraid; just irritated. There were times I doubted she understood just how seriously the Community took some things.

Thankfully, the older of the two raised his hand in a gesture of surrender and withdrew his Rhydon. He pressed back into the crowds to the north, apparently eager to get out of the area. For their part, the citizens let him through. If a trainer was willing to leave on their own accord, they might as well let him.

Andrea managed to get the remaining trainer's attention and signaled for him to follow us back to the area near the Pokemon Center. "What's up with this place?" he muttered. It's they've never seen a Pokemon battle in this part of the forest."

"Most haven't," I told him. "This is a sacred place of The Voice and Pokemon training is prohibited. The people here, uh, they don't really like battling in the Community. That could have been really dangerous."

"Not familiar with battles, huh? That's strange. I guess with my upbringing I'm just really used to them."

I didn't press that line more, however much it intrigued me.

"Whatever. I can still do some practice here. Togekiss, Substitute!"

The fairy-type focused and froze in mid-air. It did not move afterwards.

"What's that?" I asked.

"Substitute," Andrea replied. "It creates a frozen image of a Pokemon that absorbs blows while the real one is free to attack. Takes a lot of focus and life force, though. I thought you would know about that."

"No, but it does make it easier to draw."

I took out my sketchbook as the Togekiss remained in the same spot, completely unmoving. For another few minutes all three of us sat on the ground and rested. I assume that the Pokemon was doing the same.

And over on the other side of the region, two teenagers were bored out of their minds. I had pulled out my tablet a while ago to at least get some coding work done if I could not train. I occasionally tried making conversation-yes, it was bad enough that I of all people had to try and make conversation-but the guy was quiet. I asked him for his name. No answer. I asked him his quest. No answer. I asked him the average air speed velocity of an unladen swallow. No answer. Really annoyed me.

In the meantime, my "guest" was busy making his own preparations. His Medicham became absorbed in a flash of light and grew into a wholly different creature with ribbons streaming behind it. I recognized it as a Mega-Evolution, something from Kalos or somewhere like that. Supposedly Gyarados had one. I refused to believe it. Nothing could be more badass than a Gyarados.

His newly evolved Medicham began to focus for a few minutes, completely wrapped in his own thoughts as I typed out a few more lines of script. And for me, "a few more lines" can take forever with my perpetual drowsiness and access to one arm. At home and on a decent computer I at least have an AI to help me with my work. So the Medicham's meditation was really impressive. A lot longer than I can go without either falling asleep or focusing on some terrible flashback from my bright and wonderful childhood. Or both. Usually both, in fact.

It then set up a layer of dazzling light. John would probably give you some contrived answer about what color it was. But I can safely tell you that it was bright and glowed and blocked out most special attacks. I had seen it before. Sabrina used it on her Mr. Mime I was supposed to face. But, of course, she did not play by the rules. Which reminded me of something.

I really, really hate people who rig fights to their own advantage.

I stood up and pulled out a Pokeball form my belt. I came down here to get Drako some training. If I can do that and carry out an ideological vendetta, then so be it.

"Hey, uh, er, what are you doing?"

I ignore the other trainer and toss my ball into the air. "Drako, let's go!"

In a blast of light my Gyarados appears. "Well, if no one else is showing up, what do you think about us getting this melee started?"

And then they all started to brawl. The guy with the Gallade seemed real distracted or somethin' cause he never gave any orders. The rest of them all were pretty happy 'bout that, and they all started beatin' up on him. The lizard-thing started by flashing forward fast as a shadow, jumping at the Gallade with surprisin' power. I can't hardly reckon that a lizard like that could do somethin' so powerful. And then it's skin began to change colors until he was cloudy gray. Then the Lucario dug underground, probably figurin' that it was safer down there. Sure, you could try and shake the earth, but that would rile the Tauros and no one wants that. The Muk then zipped across the field with some speed too and slugged the Gallade right in the face. He stumbled back, but he was still breathin' fine. He could probably keep going. The Lucario jumped right out of the ground and hit the Gallade with a quick strike before leapin' back into the earth. It was real quick and stealthy. I wish I had one.

The Muk continued to attack Gallade while Lucario was underground, spewing a spray of toxic sludge onto his body. The Gallade tried to wipe it off, but blades aren't as good as hands for that type of thing. Suddenly, the Lucario jumped up again and slugged Gallade into the face. Thankfully for it, he drew the toxins away for a moment. The steel-type didn't seem to mind, though. Their bodies are tough against poisons. Then the lizard did a strange dance and everything started to spin. It was unbelievably weird like that one time where, well, probably shouldn't talk about that. Point is, I couldn't tell up from down or fast from slow. I hoped it wouldn't mess with the Tauros too much. They might not like that.

As the round paused so the trainers could give orders, an older man walked up to the fence to look at the battle. The strange effect couldn't have bothered him too much because he called in, asking if he could join. I told him yes and he pulled himself over the fence and pulled out a Pokeball. "Alright then, let's do this Rhydon!"

A big rock-type appeared by him. I'd seen a few up in the tournament. They're terrifying beasts. Among the strongest in the region. He seemed a little tired from his journey, but he was healthy so he could probably compete. At least he could rattle the Muk and maybe the Lucario, but he wouldn't like the Gallade much. Thankfully for him, that Gallade wasn't in the best of shape anymore. Really a bad time for his trainer to zone out.

The night wore on. We passed and spoke to many phantoms of the twilight, coming and fading as quickly as the very spirits of the departed that surely stalked the ship. Edgar and I wandered on in a quest for information and escape from the captivity of routine above the halls. Little information was forthcoming. Inspiration was more generous and I mentally filed away many ideas for capers and culprits real and imagined.

At one point the night delivered us again to the foreign swordsman as he paced the halls with his painter of fate. The Smeargle glanced up at the moonlight drifting in through a window and waved his tale like a conductor's baton bidding the very light to do his bidding. The ethereal rays complied and bent around him in a shield for protection against mystical beasts from afar who wished to end battles before they began. At the very least the Pokemon would now have the ability to face down his slayer and battle in close proximity in the way of the ancient noble warriors.

He also tried to summon chains in the ghostly night, but nothing came. No rivals stalked the same halls and no friends and no enemies. He was all alone in his midnight dance and the chains fell empty on the floor. After all, what good is a chain with nothing to bind? So the Smeargle continued to sway alone, drifting endlessly back into the night like a phantom, lost to us until time or death saw us reunited.

Greetings. Welcome to my humble paragraph. Please, do come in and make yourself at home. Pull up a sentence to the text block. I really don't mind. Walk your eyes around these words like you own the place, why don't you? You know, sometimes narrators really need their own personal space. But of course, you wouldn't understand that. Asshole. To those of you playing: all of you suck. Whether you were too cowardly to face down a cute little Gyarados, got screwed over by Pwnemon of all people, forgot you got a sketch move, made me interpret some RP BS, or did something else that is almost certainly worthy of making this list you are a genuinely horrible human being and a worse player. But you probably already know that, so let's move onto some exciting flavor you will skim over before looking at the end of the round statistics. Or, as this round shows, completely ignoring major elements in the end of the round statistics.

"Alright, Togekiss, use Roost. Let's try that move out."

The Pokemon did not move from its frozen spot in the air, but I could feel wind currents moving around my feet as the bird apparently landed. Andrea and I sat down and stared off into the slowly setting sun. It would probably be a while before it fully set, which gave me some time to sketch it. I only had a few pastels on me, but it was enough for a basic drawing. I saw the other trainer look over with interest once or twice, but they did not bother to ask any questions. Andrea sat in silence. I saw her eyelids flutter and her pupils turn a slight off-shade once or twice, but I did not want to ask about it with a stranger nearby. Some secrets are best kept to as small a group as possible.

In time she rose and looked towards the vibrant red sunset. "We're expecting two more trainers today. We should go and meet them."

We were officially not expecting any trainers for at least two weeks. But I never questioned Andrea on that type of thing, especially near outsiders. She was almost always right.

When we got to the Pokemon Center, a teenager in a gold vest was waiting. He had an accent that Seneca had told me was typical of people from the West, but he did not speak much. We checked him in with his Medicham. It was a particularly strange variant of one with long light-colored ribbons flowing from its upper body. Later in the evening another young trainer came in with his Muk. Neither Andrea nor I could quite place his accent or speech patterns, but he spoke our language and we could figure out what he wanted well enough. In time, all three went to sleep.

I met Andrea out front as she stared into the dark blue and surprisingly clear sky. She said nothing and I pulled out my sketchbook to draw the visiting Pokemon. I drew the Medicham with a blast of light coming from it. I could not think of anything for the Muk, so I ended up just drawing a picture of it with a paintbrush, using its own sludge as paint. When I finished the second sketch, Andrea spoke.

"I think something's going to happen tomorrow. I cannot quite see what."

I nodded solemnly. "Three trainers in the city at the same time is hardly good."

No more words were needed as we gazed at the silver moon, the stone buildings, and the dark sky.

The other trainer gulped when he saw Drako. By the way, gulping with wide eyes is a fairly standard reaction when a trainer finds out their opponent has a seven meter sea serpent with a type advantage. You would not think so, but almost everyone does it. Further research is required to discover the reason for this behavior.

He muttered something about having to pee and exited stage left. But I knew he was lying. The stain in his pants, also a common reaction by the way, clearly showed he had already taken care of that. At least I finally had some time alone with my Gyarados for practice. Now my only challenge was teaching a half-ton, perpetually enraged monster how to jump through hoops and splash little children on the other side of the glass without killing anyone. Or, more probably, killing everyone.

Stats were reset.

The Gallade trainer knew that he'd been beat, so he bowed his head and left the match, heading for kinder trails out east. The Muk trainer followed, unwilling to risk his Pokemon in a hopeless battle with a ground-type. He headed off to the south, in much the same direction the new trainer had come from. The Lucario trainer started off the action by glowing real bright and suddenly appearing with these cool spikes and trailing pendent things. I don't know what the fancy name for them is.

But those didn't seem to help him much. It spent more or less the entire round pacing back in forth as it juggled shadow balls. His trainer wasn't sure how to react without a clear threat to beat up. His indecision wasn't exactly good for him. The lizard-guy also took a moment to figure out what he wanted, but at least he figured that out good before the round had come and gone.

The Rhydon started by charging the Lucario with his horn, dragging the spinning point up and down the fighter's metal body, tearing up his skin pretty bad. It was gruesome, I'll say. It saw the lizard move out of the corner of its eye and fired off a metallic pulse as a warning shot. But that didn't stop the Kecleon at all. It's body changed from gray to green as it pressed down on the grass, causing a whole vine to come up and trip the Rhydon as it fell straight to its face. The wound was pretty bad, but it pulled itself back up to keep fighting. Now only three trainers remained. The Lucario and the Rhydon were pretty much evenly matched, but I had to wonder how the lizard would play into it with its color changing shenanigans.

And thus we wandered on searching for clues. Together Edgar and I roamed the moonlit halls, searching for answers. Barring answers, questions would suffice for they raised the specter of answers later on in the flow of time. As the ship and that temporal stream pushed on through turbulent waters, so we progressed on our noble quest for truth. At long last we arrived near the captain's quarters, where we saw the man with a blade once more striding through the hallways, now looking around as nervously as the commoners beneath him. I exchanged a look with Edgar. While we did not question the enigmatic figure directly, we did search the trail he left. In one of the cans we found a vial with a dimly violet liquid clinging to its walls, desperate to remain attached to its host. Edgar carefully extracted it with a pair of gloves and filed it in our admittedly scant evidence collection. It was far from direct proof, but it was more than the blank stares and empty guesses we could currently present to the world. It justified our presence and our existence.

We passed the man again on our way to another location in the fabric of space. He was relaxing, far more comfortable in his situation now than before. His Smeargle slouched beside him, resting from whatever exertion it had previously undertaken. Suddenly the static voice of fate sounded from above, compelling us to move to the deck. We did so in confused silence, speculation and prediction running amok in our minds as we moved.

On the deck we saw a new face. A man with a Gallade beside him that had obviously been worn by some great challenge. Had he been attacked? I had to quell my curiosity for the present as the captain came onto the stage.

He divulged some most unsettling news.

Congratulations. You all succeeded in doing something, for once. Even if it took a second inactive round from Pwnemon to do it, you have finally managed to bring someone down. And you also attacked people! You're almost half tolerable now. Almost. But you're still assholes.

The battle resumed at the break of dawn. The time of day when the most vibrant and numerous colors line the sky and world. I was almost disappointed I would not get to draw them today. But battles were interesting to draw so I could live with that. We were a little ways from the main square. Even though it was early, there would still be enough people by it that battling there was inadvisable. Our current location still had people who stood around and watched, horrified and intrigued by the possibility of a battle, but there were far fewer.

Togekiss had started by reforming his Substitute, shielding him from any direct harm. The Muk and Medicham looked tired from their journeys, but they were still at full health and ready to fight.

"Psycho Cut!"
"Air Slash while he's distracted!"

Medicham was fastest and struck first, warping the air around his fists into a pink scythe. He rushed the far-slower Muk and thrust the blade straight into his sludgy body, causing him to cry in pain at the powerful strike. I had never seen a Pokemon wield that much raw physical power before. But shortly after his blade struck the Muk he immediately had to pull it up to block a flying sword of wind launched by Togekiss. Even with the block, the air still cut into the fighting-type's skin and dealt quite a bit of damage.

"Shadow Punch him!"

Andrea swore and called out to the Muk's trainer that he was making a mistake, but he found out why before she could even finish talking. As soon as dark shadows began to form around the Pokemon's fist, a nervous deacon yelped in surprise and grabbed one of the torches used to light the town at night and in the morning. He flung it into the large Pokemon's body as he rapidly moved. It took a moment for the flames to spread all over him, longer than it took him to punch the Medicham, but in the end he was torched all over even as he rapidly shifted to put out the fire.

The Muk's trainer looked at the deacon in disgust but Andrea quickly stepped towards the trainer to keep him from doing anything rash while I went to apologize to the deacon and explain that the Muk was not a demon. He seemed less than convinced and completely unashamed about his actions, but he did not immediately follow them or try to motivate the crowd. We were quite lucky.

Even as we did damage control the battle raged on. The Medicham hopped back to his trainer and warily eyed his opponents while his trainer figured out what to do. "So, um, that thing in the dream? Try that out."

The other two trainers glanced between each other, nervous about the vagueness of the command, but continued with caution. "Substitute. Just block whatever it is," the Muk trainer commanded.

The Togekiss trainer snickered. "Nail them both."

A blast of pure white light shone from the unmoving image of Togekiss which stunned and awed the crowd. The radiation tore into Medicham, causing it to cry out in pain as the fairy-boosted light, heightened by the holiness of Umber, dug into his flesh. Muk took the attack far more casually, which probably didn't help the town's perception of him as a demon, and grunted before he suddenly stopped moving, frozen in place like the Togekiss. Then the Medicham struck back, glowing pure white before unleashing a torrent of multicolor energy straight at the Togekiss, the blast glinting with all the colors of the rainbow. The energy pulse shattered the illusion the fairy had cast and revealed the real bird. She hovered in the air, shocked that a Pokemon like Medicham could use Mirror Coat, but not actually injured. Unlike the two increasingly wounded Pokemon she was with, Togekiss was perfectly fine. It would take a lot of luck and skill for Medicham and Muk to bring her down now.

With the other trainer's departure I had some free time to myself and Gyarados. Which was not bad. In fact, it was what I had wanted the entire time. I taught him some tricks, like how to pretend to burn down entire cities and then reveal that he had actually just done that. He was very good at that trick. And most tricks that involved burning or smashing. That is, after all, what Gyarados are born to do.

After about an hour of solid training had passed, another trainer walked in. He was older with a white beard and such. He carried himself with an arrogant form of grace, like he was more experienced than you and fully willing to point that out. Either a gym-leader or a gym-wannabe. Great. Have I mentioned how much I dislike gym leaders? No? Well, thank you for asking. A lot. All of them.

"You here for the melee," I called out cheerfully. By the way, if I ever use the word 'cheerfully' to refer to anything I do, it means that someone's day is about to get a whole lot worse.

He called back in the affirmative and I smirked. "Well, someone else was here, but they left. So I guess that it's just you and me, huh?" His Rhydon walked onto the stage behind him, slowed down from the effort to get here. He stared in horror at Drako before turning to his trainer as if asking what he was thinking. I did not give them much time to talk. The battle was on.

Rhydon arrived!

Seeing the battle come down to just two Pokemon that his Rhydon didn't want to deal with, the oldest trainer bailed out and left the ranch. That left just two trainers to fight it out for dominance where five had once stood.

"Flamethrower!" the lizard's trainer called, watching with smug satisfaction as his Pokemon suddenly turned red and spit out a long stream of fire at the slower Lucario. The blast hit the steel-type for a ton of damage that he couldn't even begin to block in the strange dimensions.

So the other trainer just grit his teeth and called out, "Circle Throw." That sent his Pokemon into action as he ran straight through the oncoming fire and grabbed hold of the Kecleon. He started to spin, lifting his opponent higher and higher with every revolution before releasing him, sending the Pokemon far off over the horizon before blasting out a sphere of metallic light that hit him again, blasting him a little bit further.

A drop of sweat ran down the Kecleon trainer's face before he ran off after his Pokemon, leaving the ranch. Only the Lucario and his trainer remained. I always knew he would win.

Deep in the halls of the ship, I might the wandering swordsman and the strange arrival again. The arrival was walking unawares and unconcerned, surprising given the recent news that hung low and heavy through every corridor, stifling every emotion but fear. The newcomer's Gallade walked beside him. The swordsman paused behind the other figure and unleashed his trusted partner as his cold eyes bore into his prey.

"Dragon Rage. Then finish him."

A blast of draconian fire surged forth from the painter, squarely striking its target and engulfing it in ancient rage. As the blue fire burned on, higher and higher into the cavern's air and into the fog of doubt and despair, the Smeargle readied another attack, this one far more dreadful. The very air seemed to settle in shock and anticipation as the normal Pokemon burst forth with a quick and lethally accurate strike of raw energy at the Gallade's neck, tearing into his pressure points with ferocity eclipsed only by the gods. Mercy was gone, her resignation tendered long ago on the voyage. Only savagery remained.

I will not speak of the rest of the incident. It would unleash no floodgates of healing for anyone. Only more blackness upon a world already wrapped in the cloth of night.

Later on in the evening we passed a new arrival wandering the halls like a ghost, a constantly shifting lizard by his side. We did not bother him either. It is best to leave the dead, dying, and near departed to their own devices.

Greetings. I see that most of you have returned. Bar Matezoide, of course, who had far better timing for an absence than Pwnemon did. In fact, all that really happened to him is that he lost out on a small amount of HP and didn't get to rest or chill. And ref intervention struck his general location, but that was more or less beyond his control and had more to do with the seven people who could order not killing sufficient quantities of Pokemon. Seriously. Stop stalling, start killing. And with that sage wisdom, assholes, I will now be letting some other narrators take over, even if they in no way approach the glory of my words.

Just like the older man the day before, and now the added incentive of being in vulnerable positions, the wannabe gym leader and the trainer with the strange Medicham were unnerved by the increasingly hostile crowd. The three trainers looked at each other, nodded in a declaration of truce, and went their separate ways. The Medicham trainer went to the northern edge of town, the same place that the Rhydon trainer had went to a day prior. The boy with the Togekiss went east. Partially due to the speed of his Pokemon, the remaining foreigner moved rather slowly towards the edge of the Community, not at all rushed to leave the area entirely but not inclined to stay in the hostile environment. We followed him, but given the state of his Pokemon and his difficulty with the language little was said. Andrea pointed to the crowds behind us when we were on the edge of town. The torches still burned in the daylight. Obviously the Community was now on heightened alert and battling was even more inadvisable than normal.

"Look, I don't really want to battle. My Pokemon needs a rest and-"

"Surf."

If you have not caught on, I am a terrible person.

The man swore and ordered Metal Burst.

Before I could change my actions Drako was thrashing in the water and sending a wave roaring across the arena straight at Rhydon. The water struck the rock-type with such force that he was actually picked up off of his feet and flung back by the power. Water soaked into all of the cracks in his armor, greatly damaging him. Before we could celebrate, though, a metallic burst of energy came flying right back. It stung Drako, but the Rhydon was now slouched over under the stress of its own weight. While losing the damage war was not fun, we could force him to pick between his energy and his health.

"Hydro Pump."

Drako unleashed an aqueous torrent that battered the opponent almost as badly as the surf did before taking another metallic pulse. It irritated me, really. Damaging-countering moves were my field. I invented half of them. Or at least the technical machines for half of them. I was starting to realize how annoying they were to my opponents.

The difference is that most of them were overcome by the strategy. I would not be.

After a battle ends there's always a short rush of victory. It feels great. But after that reality starts setting in and you need to do work. It was getting late and my dad was finishing moving the herd so I could spend a little more time with the Lucario's trainer in this phase. He leaned against a fence and pulled out a chocolate bar as his Lucario visibly relaxed. I would have told him to move off the fence, but it was new and sturdy so I thought it could take it. We talked for a little while. He wanted to be Champion. I wished him good luck. I didn't tell him that he had no chance. He'd find that out in time. In this world you have a chance or you don't and if you don't know for a fact that you do, you don't. He also told me a little about legends. I didn't get that either. I get that it's Gela's religion and all, not that she talks about it much, but I don't really buy into it. I mean, sure, Mew's probably real. But I don't think it'd be possible to control Mew or if it's even important for religion. I just don't view them that way. No one does around here.

Later on in the evening another traveler came up, this time with another strange fighting-type. It was a Medicham, but different. I know that's a terrible description but I'm not really a writer. That's kind of Lenore's thing. They looked exhausted. And the trainer with me looked like he wanted to fight. I couldn't see this ending well for the new-comer.

Lucario chilled!

Medicham arrived!

As soon as twilight fell on one engagement dawn rose on another. Alas, the sun never sets in the seas of war. The Kecleon's trainer ordered him to strike with focused fury. The poor Pokemon tried nobly to concentrate and hone all of his reptilian energies into a single fist. He did. It was all for naught. The punch flew laughably aside as the Smeargle did nothing. The simple distortion of the light near the powder he adorned himself with was enough to through off his attacker. Such is the futility of all endeavors.

The Kecleon saw his murderous foe moving and moved to summon the light to his aid, blocking himself off in a cocoon of light and energy. For a time he was free to ignore the world and I imagine he could experience true bliss. The Smeargle snarled, but his voice was not menacing and the Kecleon's tolerance was high. It was all for naught. Such is the futility of all endeavors.

As the battle continued to rage another figure walked into that particular scene in time and space to honor us with his presence for however long he chose and fate permitted. A Togekiss, fair beacon of love and peace it was, hovered by his side. All the ways symbols of innocence could be skewered ran through my mind as he entered into the wrong story for him. Such is the futility of all endeavors.

Greetings. Even though two of you could not be bothered to get action in and tavok and Avnomke forgot about Trick Room entirely, causing this match to lose out on another potential kill in favor of more bullshit stalling, this round still sees more action than any of you are likely to get in your lifetime. That's because a monumentally dumb substitution combined with an NPC - yes, a fucking NPC- cost one player their chance at fame, fortune, and glory. And believe me, with the rest of the arenas seeing camping, forgetting to send in, or general fucking up that is the only thing that saved you assholes from a ref intervention of monumental proportions. Now to send you over to some other folks for the play-by-play of this exceptionally boring, but still blood-soaked, round.

The Muk trainer came back into focus, shrugging off whatever slump he had previously been in. "Rest," he called out. His Muk did not visibly move through its frozen image, but apparently the Poison-type was sleeping now as it healed off its burn. I didn't fully understand why his trainer could not just withdraw him. Maybe he was expecting another battle today. Either way, Umber is a wonderfully calm place so I'm sure the rest was very satisfying for him. The trainer still was not one for talking and it was rather awkward for Andrea and I to talk and ignore our guest. So we sat down by the Muk's horrid stench and stared into the forest together. It was a very pretty day, all things considered.

Giving WoG here: due to the phrase "who enter," Muk will not be reburnt when it wakes up. I previously gave WoG to the contrary, but I was not looking at the wording I posted at the time.

"Just keep going," I called. Sure, the older trainer had a damage-returning move. It was going to hurt Drako and I felt bad about that. But, the Rhydon could not take much more abuse. The match would be over quickly.

"Metal Burst!" Predictable. Dreadful. Futile.

Drako shot another pulse of water at the Rhydon, striking it hard in the chest. The beast was abnormally bulky but still looked worn down by the strike, but not quite defeated. His wound began to glow white before he smashed his foot into the ground, unleashing a pulse of light once more that struck Drako in the face causing him to roar in pain. But when all was said and done, the Rhydon could take no more. It turns out that spamming damage-returning moves when tired is a good way to reach the point where saying "I surrender" takes too much energy. The rock-type fell hard.

His trainer withdrew him and walked off muttering something incomprehensible as Drako realized he had won and snorted in triumph. He swam over the edge of the pool and I stroked his scales. I told him to rest. He deserved it. Anyone who walked in then would have seen a crippled girl sitting down and messing with a tablet as a large, sleeping sea serpent slept beside her. It is a shame no one did walk in then. I would have enjoyed giving some glorious one-liner explanation.

The two sat to battling in the warped dimensions. Or not. Medicham actually just relaxed for a little while, trying to catch his breath after the exhausting hike to the ranch. Lucario fled underground, not quite realizing that it was not really going to avoid Medicham's onslaught if it really wanted to attack. But he did not let details like that stop him. He surfaced shortly after and pummeled Medicham with a moderately powerful tackle. It was not quite as offensive as the presence of two powerful fighting-types promised to be, but it was some damage.

Medicham simply shrugged it off, though, and focused his mind on other things in the universe. Some of his wounds slowly closed as Lucario dug underground. The tackle was completely negated and some of the injuries he came in with were gone. Of course, Lucario was willing to just slug him again and knock him back down to size. I would be worried for the Medicham now. He wasn't quite energetic enough to make fleeing viable and the strange purple glow was fading away, leaving time normal again. It looked like Lucario was going to be striking first and he did not need to deal a whole lot more damage. I would be surprised now if he didn't win.

The three stood locked in a battle of silence, none daring to take initiative and begin the match. Locked as Prufrock the battle reached a premature ending in its middle. Kecleon and Togekiss stood still, unsure how to approach the seemingly untouchable Smeargle without it leaping back into the shadows unharmed. Said Smeargle was unsure which target to pursue, bound down by Choice, the great thwarter of heroic deeds.

In time it did set sail on a course of action, laughing maniacally as it chanted the ancient and obligatory curse of horror. Visual representations of runes appeared in the semi-darkness as they spelled out the words of a cryptic and evil tome. The letters slowly drifted over to Kecleon, ensnaring the lizard in a trap of evil magic that amplified the maladies in his body and soul. Regretfully for the attacker, the lizard was pure and resistant to such trickery, limiting the effect of the spell. But the visual impression it left was enough to send a shiver down my spine.

Perhaps the two standing still would gain the initiative to escape their confines. But, if life is any test at all, this is unlikely. Those trapped tend to stay bound unless rescued from the outside. So it goes.

Okay, you assholes actually did the "kill" part reasonably well. Or, more accurately, the "die" corollary reasonably well. But sending in orders by the end of Tuesday would be nice. Like, actually sending in orders. Seriously. When three people are in a room and they do a collective 2.5 damage there's a bit of a problem. In the meantime, good job. At least two of you are reasonably weak and the one with the best opportunity to camp willingly sacrificed it to dive straight into the thick of things. Props to him. I'm still punishing you all, though. How? Find out below.

Dusk began to settle in on Umber, bringing hues of blue and black with it. The pallet increasingly blurred with red in the distance as torches assembled at various points in the Community. We had not been bothered all day, but it was clear from the occasional harsh glare of a passerby and the flames that our visitors were no longer welcome. We did not tell our visitor of this for fear of scaring him, but he seemed to understand the severity of the events unfolding. He departed on his own accord the way he came.

Later that night, Andrea and I had the carrier pidgey send a message to the Viridian center. Travel to Umber was no longer advisable under any circumstances.

Muk left for the Ranch!

Umber was reset and closed to future entry!

I thought I was finally free of irritations wanting to use my pool. Drako remained asleep beside me, slowly recovering health he had lost to the Rhydon earlier. Powering through him had worked, but it left him with surprisingly little health. He would need to be in better condition before he would be able to resume training.

Things being as they were, I took out my tablet and started pecking away as I worked on a new TM. It was for a seismic move that many powerful ground types, particularly those of the Moon Gym leader, had learned. There was not much use for it in the park, but I figured that it could help Drako circumvent electric-types so it was still somewhat useful.

In time, another person walked into the area. He was even stranger than the last few. His hair was green and he had a sword at his side. Which meant that he was either a stage performer, a time traveler from an anime alternate history show, or just plain nuts. Given the crowd so far I was inclined to think the latter. A smeargle walked beside him. Further proof he was nuts.

"Who dares stand before the wrath of Itsumo?!" He shouted upon entering, as if he needed to confirm his insanity.

I raised my right hand. "No idea who that is, but sounds like someone it could be fun to oppose. I do like standing in front of wrath. Kind of tickles."

He glared at me as his Smeargle moved to an offensive position. Drako stirred in the water, not quite awake but not quite asleep either. The sight of the gyarados was enough to intimidate the lunatic. However, he still seemed to want a battle like most lunatics do. I imagine that somewhere there is an entire chatroom filled with lunatics who constantly ask for battles and referees for battles, even while other people try to socialize. There are certainly enough people like this man for that to be a possibility.

Gyarados restored 24 HP!

Smeargle arrived!

The showdown resumed.

Lucario rushed through the field as he blurred into a set of illusions impossible to track. Even with the obnoxious speed, Medicham resumed pursuit filled with fury. The two powerhouses chased each other around the ranch almost twice, unnerving the Tauros, yes, but also providing a high-speed spectacle that was almost impossible to follow. From what I could tell Medicham was fast, but Lucario always kept himself two steps ahead. When they finished the chase where they started, Lucario was exhausted but Medicham was worse. I seriously thought it was going to collapse then, but it didn't.

Instead the two resumed quick blows almost immediately. In a blur of grey Lucario closed the gap and rapidly slashed into his opponent, leaving thin streaks of shadows in the air as he repeatedly dug into Medicham, forcing him to step back into a defensive position while still taking nasty strikes to the limbs and torso. But he held on. As Lucario at last stepped back to admire his work, Medicham lunged forward with a hard punch to the gut that blasted Lucario back to his trainer. Both Pokemon were clearly exhausted and wounded now and it was unclear who would manage to pick themselves up and win.

Until someone else stepped in. The Muk trainer from earlier had apparently run out of supplies and needed to come back. He reentered the battle upon arrival and sent his Muk back out. Thing was exhausted and could barely keep its eyes open. But it seemed reasonably healthy, which was more than could be said of the other two.

I wasn't sure who would win between Lucario and Medicham, but I strongly suspected that Muk would be walking out of here victorious.

And suddenly motion.

Togekiss glowed white and fired off a wave of pure light that bathed the ship in its ethereal glow, purging the demons and darkness that haunted its halls, at least metaphorically. Kecleon took a direct hit and reeled in pain as the light struck through all of its illusions, reaching into the very nature of its being. It saw all. As the glow continued to expand the smeargle trainer abruptly dissipated, sparing himself the pain of the attack and casting the impression that he may have never been there at all. It would've been far from the most troubling or mind-bending revelation in our search.

Irritated by the light, the invasive, terrible light, Kecleon changed colors once more to a bright, energetic shade of yellow as he prepared to attack. Voltage flew through the charged air as thunder rocked the ship inside and out. The fairy took the blast in stride, damaged but not taken down by the strike, even as it made his battle prospects lower.

To show his disdain, the togekiss flapped his wings as a sharp gale rose. Like blades the wind flew, contorting to the design of its master in a way that nature is seldom known to do. The submissive wind grazed the yellow lizard, protected by the disguise that had become his body. But the blades wrapped around him with intensity, restraining him in a vortex of slashing, dull pain that locked him in place. He was not injured beyond repair, but the setback was noted by both sides as they prepared to fight in a newly simplified world of combat, with just one foe and no friends.

THINGS YOU SHOULD BE DOING

Okay, I closed an area. The blatant camper's area with boosted recoveries. That should hopefully speed things up. I could also see a lot of fatalities happening next round, which would be really nice. I'm into intensive planning/writing now, so hurrying up would be appreciated as I start writing in about a week, which will consume A LOT of time. Anyway, PM in two actions by the end of Tuesday. From the start of Wednesday on I reserve the right to issue an action lock that will prevent further sending and editing of orders. That is all.

Except I had a sub that should make Lucario use Shadow Ball and, therefore, make Medicham use Fake Out A2. This will be gone once that is fixed.

They don't conflict, at least not on A2, as Extreme Speed + Shadow Claw is still ghost type. It still doesnt' work because I'm dumb and different prioritys -.-

I could've sworn they looped. Did either of you change your subs after the intitial submission? Either way, tavok is right. Fake Out and Shadow Ball are used A2, for better or worse.

EDIT: Okay, so as far as I can tell the "when you would move" sub is voided due to irritating illegalities/cyclical looping. However, Medicham's combination sub is still perfectly valid and does not conflict with anything. As such, the combination and Fake Out will be used. I am presently fixing this up, although I don't think I'll change flavor.

Greetings, fellow assholes. Due to some misplaying and a lot of afk'ing, shit got done this round. By which I mean that the match could conceivably end in, bah, who am I kidding. This thing won't end until I unleash the forces of Hell to decimate all of you. Random Gyarados with a shit move pool? Nothing. Wait until the Mewtwo-Xs start flying. But in the meantime enjoy this report with only three narrators.

"Hex."

I grimaced and averted my eyes as the light flew at Drako. There was nothing he could do to avoid it and I generally do not like pain-based attacks, especially those that do not need to make contact. They make my arm hurt more than usual, which is actually kind of impressive. I sometimes consider watching just to remind me how much worse my life could theoretically get. But I never hate myself quite enough to do it.

"Body Slam," I muttered as I heard Drako stir from the pain of the mental attack. He roared in groggy agreement before rising to his full height. The Smeargle cowered back in terror before the shadow of the water-type fell down upon him followed by an enormously heavy snake. The artist was crushed. His muscles began to lock up as Drako pulled himself back into the air and admired the destruction he had caused. "Again."

This time he roared with his fully awakened vigor before striking the cement around the paralyzed Smeargle. He dragged his body across the floor, shaking out the poor enemy and causing some of his scales to flake off before retreating back into the pool, small streaks of red leaking from his cuts.

The swordsman crossed his arms and told his Smeargle to relax and recover for a little while as he calculated how to best counter Drako. His Pokemon was healthier, but mine could strike a lot harder. I was not sure how the match would play out as it presently stood.

For a minute, nothing happened. Muk simply napped, unable or unwilling to do much but rest after its exhausting trip. Medicham rested as it was brought to the brink of collapse in the previous round. Doing anything at all would have pushed it over the brink. Lucario was far too worn out from its breakneck shadow to do anything to follow it. So the four of us kind of just looked between each other, no one really saying anything as our Pokemon took a mid-battle breather.

And then things started moving again. Or, one player started moving again.

"Extremespeed!"

Before the Medicham's trainer could say anything Lucario was moving like a blur straight towards his Pokemon. The psychic-type tried to block, but he was too tired after his extensive travels. He went down hard.

Muk began to stir from his nap and entered the battle for real. Another duel was about to begin as the Medicham's trainer walked away in disgrace. So it goes.

MEDICHAM FAINTED!

Muk woke up!

Perhaps he was tired. He had every right to be. The moon was full and the midnight hour had long been passed on our inevitable journey through time. His journey had taken him far. All of ours had. Perhaps he just wanted to lose. Surrender to the unbeatable can be noble in its own way. A recognition that one's energies are best spent where they can make a difference in the face of encroaching oblivion. For whatever reason, the aspiring gym leader made no move. His enemy had no such hesitations.

His lizard's scales flashed purple as he walked towards the bird of peace, a vile stench rising from his body as he raised a dripping, gooey hand into the air. Toxic fumes began to spread throughout the hall as the chameleon struck his hand deep into the plume of his enemy. The fairy cringed as the vile infection spread throughout his life stream, corrupting his very body. And with his body his soul. But he stood resolute and unmoving. It is strangely noble to accept the inevitable.

And his opponent flashed yellow again in the vein of the thunder that sometimes struck outside. Light advanced far more rapidly than the flesh of any beast ever could. It consumed the bird and clipped his wings for a terrible moment. He was lost in the sea of hateful, powerful light. But he merely sighed as his wings drooped to the ground. It is strangely noble to accept the inevitable.

THINGS YOU SHOULD BE DOING

PM THREE ACTIONS FOR THE NEXT ROUND.

The match is basically three singles matches that could theoretically interplay. Incidentally, this also means that the number of chills possible in a round no longer equals the cost of moving to another area. This may or may not change your strategy. Either way, please actually PM orders. It would speed things up and I am going to start writing by the time the next update comes in. I would rather have this over with as soon as possible. I may close orders as soon as the end of Saturday.
