This thread is the hub for information on the weekly #smogonvgc live tournament! This tournament series aims to create a cartridge practice environment as well as provide every participant with a free Pokemon to help them get what they need for their local VGC events. This post will update every week towards Friday or Saturday with info about that week's tournament.
This week, TheMantyke will be running the bracket and distributing Pokemon.

Tournament begins at 4pm EDT (New York, US East Coast).
You will need to check in one hour before the tournament begins to participate.
Additionally, we're aiming to record the finals and put them up on the official Smogon Youtube Channel! This should go without saying, but please, if you make it to the finals, save your Battle Videos and post them here!
We're waaaaay behind recording these at this point, but bear with us! We'll get them up as soon as we can.
Rules:
- You must join the IRC channel #smogonvgc in order to participate.
- Flat Doubles, pentagon Pokemon ONLY. If it's not allowed on ORAS Battle Spot, it isn't allowed here.
- For the purpose of having the tournament run on time, strategies such as Minimize are STRONGLY discouraged. Please keep this tournament fun and fast; these strategies are neither. If time is called and you are using such a strategy, you will likely take the loss.
- Competitors will need a copy of Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire to enter
- Each round will last a maximum of 30 minutes. If the match is not completed within the timeframe, it will be up to the host to decide who wins or who loses.
- If there is a disconnection, it will be up to the host to decide who wins or who loses. Make sure to have a camera handy to get some proof if you're nervous about this.
- Since this is a non-weighted practice tournament and we have little control over this, you may change your team between rounds but not during a best of three series. However, it might be better practice for you not to do so.

ZapdosHOW TO RECEIVE YOUR FREE POKEMON:
- Note: Pokemon will not start being distributed until 4:00 PM EDT. Please follow these instructions then.
- Step 1: Catch a Cacnea
- Step 2: Offer the Cacnea for any of the Pokemon above on the GTS. If you haven't registered that Pokemon in your Pokedex yet, you can type its name in at the bottom.
- Step 3: Enter your username that you entered the tournament with in the message box, or simply put #smogonvgc. If you don't do this and/or you're not entered in the tournament, you'll be ignored!
- Step 4: At about 3:30pm EDT (30 minutes before tournament begins), our distributor will start giving out the Pokemon. Refresh the GTS to receive your Pokemon. Enjoy!
