    And because I want to give my stronger Pokemon a chance to flex their muscles...

    I'd like to point out that Dragon Pulse isn't a Gen 5 TM, so Spiffy shouldn't have been allowed to start with it (I know this because I made the same mistake myself with my own Monohm >.>), so you should probably get it replaced. Not sure if you want to do so before we start or not, so I'll wait till you answer to make sure.

    Oh... Well, I could switch it with Volt Switch, and then instead of buying Volt Switch, get Dragon Pulse. That wouldn't change any results, I think. I'll clear it in the Prize thread now, but in the meantime, you can send out your mons.

    That works.

    Brandon entered the ASB Tournament arena yet again, looking for more training for his younger Pokemon. Seeing SoS across from him preparing for their battle, he decided now was as good a time as any to send out his Pokemon. "Hmm, well, Vinestrike, time for your first battle! Boulderstrike, go help her out!" The Pupitar and Bulbasaur hit the field, ready to battle.

    SoS entered the arena, rummaging inside his pocket for an appropriate response to Brandon's team. Both of them would be using a Pupitar in this match, by a strange coincidence, but how they played them would be crucial. SoS decided to hold off on using Mama for now, due to the 4x weakness she would face from Vinestrike.

    "Buggo, Spiffy, standby!" In a flash, the Metapod and Duclohm appeared on the field in front of him. This would be a tricky battle, but he had a plan up his sleeves. "Buggo, I want you to start by slowing our opponents down with a String Shot attack. Then use a second String Shot on Bulbasaur and try to slam him into Pupitar. Then Bug Bite Bulbasaur. However, if you get Taunted, I want you to just Bug Bite Bulbasaur as much as you can.

    "Spiffy, your actions are simpler. Start with a Hydro Pump on Pupitar, then go for a Flamethrower on Bulbasaur. Finish with a second Hydro Pump on Pupitar, but if he uses Protect at any stage, try and switch to Signal Beam on Bulbasaur."

    "OK guys, this'll be a tough match but we can pull through! Vinestrike, start with a Sleep Powder on Duclohm to hopefully put a stop to its powerful attacks, then Toxic it! Finish with a Venoshock on it, but if it's not badly poisoned yet then try Toxic again! Boulderstrike, start by using Taunt on Metapod so it can't use String Shot, then use an evasive Dig! Stay under until Duclohm tries to Hydro Pump and misses, then come back up and hit it hard! If Duclohm will be asleep then, just hit it with Dig, then smack it hard with Stone Edge!"

    Summary:
    Vinestrike: Sleep Powder(Duclohm) -> Toxic(Duclohm) -> Venoshock(Duclohm)
    If Toxic misses replace Venoshock with Toxic(Duclohm)
    Boulderstrike: Taunt(Metapod) -> evasive Dig(stay under till next action) -> come up after Hydro Pump to hit(Duclohm)
    If Duclohm would be asleep action 3, replace actions 2 and 3 with Dig(Duclohm) -> Stone Edge(Duclohm)

    Duclohm starts off the battle by starting to look very panicky. Everyone is unsure why, but it seems Duclohm has a trick up its sleeve. In fact, Duclohm is even sweating! Or...is it? Wait, that's just water! Not even close to what's about to happen...A huge Hydro Pump shoots right in Pupitar's direction and slams directly into it! This did quite a lot of damage as Pupitar seems to already be beaten up. In fact, this might have even been a critical hit! Next, Bulbasaur tries to find a way to help its partner out. Realizing that it can just put Duclohm to sleep, it decides that it will do that! Bulbasaur opens its bulbous back and fires out spore-like powder that goes straight for Duclohm. Duclohm, however, is smart and uses its cloud-like body to absorb the powder and release it to a less threatening location - the pool of the ASB Arena. Hopefully that won't distract the swimmers! Now, Pupitar needs to get its revenge on Duclohm. It decides that the best way to do this is to eliminate its partner! It starts saying hurtful comments to Metapod about how it's just a shell. It gets really pissed off and decides to start biting random stuff! It gives Bulbasaur a huge, juicy Bug Bite. Although it didn't look too strong at first, it can add up!

    Wow, I'm sure glad that was over! Now, Spiffy keeps attacking. This time, he take the opposite approach of a Hydro Pump with Flamethrower! It even looks like it did a lot of damage, cool! In fact, it was another critical hit...Wow! Well, it looks like Bulbasaur is still trying to inflict status on Duclohm, this time in the form of toxic. As poisonous waste emerges from its bulb, Duclohm starts to think fast. It moves around to leave the toxic going into the pool! Wow, I would really get out of that pool if I were one of the swimmers. Anyway, let's go back to Pupitar. I don't really know what it's doing, but it digs a hole in the ground and stays under there. Where is it? When will it comes back? Not my problem. Anyway, Metapod gives Bulbasaur another threatening Bug Bite, which again, doesn't really do anything other than cost a ridiculous amount of energy.

    Lastly, Duclohm, who looks to be the star of the show right now, unleashes another powerful Hydro Pump on Pupitar. But...where is Pupitar? Don't know, but it certainly wasn't hit. Bulbasaur, who seems to have taken a huge interest in Duclohm, still wants to attack it. Purple sludgy stuff starts to excrete from its back; gross! Everyone looks away as it releases Toxic! Even Duclohm turns around to its misfortune as it is hit! Finally, SOME damage is done to team SoS! It wasn't a lot thou--what was that? I can hear someth--BAM! Pupitar pops straight out from the ground and slams into Duclohm. That has GOT to hurt. Anyway, Metapod finishes strong with yet another Bug Bite! Why is no one attacking this menacing creature, anyway? The world may never know...

    Brandon cursed. That round did not go at all how he planned. "Well guys, we're at a pretty big disadvantage but we have to keep trying! Boulderstrike, start with a Stone Edge on Duclohm, then follow that up with a Dig! Finish off with another Stone Edge on Duclohm! Vinestrike, try to put that Duclohm to sleep again with Sleep Powder, then Venoshock, and finish off with a Leech Seed on it to get some much-needed healing! If it's not poisoned, then replace Venoshock with another Toxic!"

    Summary:
    Boulderstrike: Stone Edge(Duclohm) -> Dig(Duclohm) -> Stone Edge(Duclohm)
    Vinestrike: Sleep Powder(Duclohm) -> Venoshock(Duclohm) -> Leech Seed(Duclohm)
    Replace Venoshock with Toxic if Duclohm isn't poisoned

    SoS gave a quick smile, he was at an advantage here, but knew he wasn't anywhere near out of the woods yet. Brandon was a damn good player, with a much better record.

    "Spiffy, start with a quick Protect to guard against the Sleep Powder, and to a lesser extent, the Stone Edge. Then use Magnet Rise to get away from the Dig, before finishing up with a Flamethrower on Vinestrike.

    "Buggo, you're still Taunted, so just alternate Tackle and Bug Bite on Vinestrike."

    ---

    Spiffy: Protect >>> Magnet Rise >>> Flamethrower (Vinestrike)

    Buggo: Tackle >>> Bug Bite >>> Tackle (Vinestrike)

    Welcome back to this exciting battle of Son_of_Shadoo vs. Flamestrike! So far, Son_of_Shadoo seems to have gotten a bit lucky with his Pokemon's moves, while Flamestrike has gotten the polar opposite of this. However, I'm certain that both trainers still have a strong chance to win. Now, let's begin Round Two!

    Duclohm seems to really be bringing up the heat here. In the last round, all it did was fire off extremely powerful attacking moves. Hydro Pump and Flamethrower to be specific. This round, however, Duclohm start to take a different approach. As Bulbasaur and Pupitar both cringe in fear of what could happen to them, Duclohm starts glowing with a green aura. What is this? No one is sure, but it's not hurting anyone, so no need to panic over it. Anyway, Pupitar also does the opposite of what it did the first round and attacks! As the Earth starts to shake, enormous boulders emerge from holes that they ripped through the ground. Pupitar orders these boulders to go...straight at Duclohm! Duclohm, however, doesn't even seem to care. It just stands there, green aura intact, ready to take the hit for some reason. The boulders hit Duclohm...but nothing happens. They just brake apart and hit the ground. Wow, that was strange! Anyway, Bulbasaur was looking away because it didn't want to see Duclohm get mauled, and it didn't seem to notice that this green aura will protect Duclohm from attacks. Bulbasaur uses Sleep Powder, which hits the green aura and disintegrates. Finally, Metapod drops its Bug Bite everyone strategy and uses Tackle on Bulbasaur. No one is sure what this did as Bulbasaur didn't even feel it! This action ends with Duclohm taking some damage from poison, but not a lot.

    Well, that looked like it went really well for Son_of_Shadoo. None of his Pokemon got hurt, and he pulled off a Tackle on Bulbasaur. Duclohm still won't attack though, and wants to stay on the defensive in case Pupitar wants to pull off something funny. Duclohm starts to glow, kind of. No one can really see it though, since electromagnetism is invisible. Yep, you heard right. Duclohm harnesses the power of electromagnetism and starts to levitate in the air. Cool! This makes Duclohm almost look decent, but I guess a fat cloud with two heads will never look okay. Anyway, we all look for Pupitar, but all we can find is a huge pile of dug-up dirt. Where did it go this time? Pupitar, always running off to its underground places...I guess it should have paid more attention to Duclohm using Magnet Rise instead of digging. That's what you get for being a blue shell. Anyway, Bulbasaur now looks like it has the confidence to fire off its first attack; awesome! Once again, the yucky sludge stuff comes out of its back at Duclohm, and this time, it hits! Wow, that did a lot of damage, too. Who knew a dinosaur with a bulb on its back could do that? Anyway, Metapod goes back to "Bug Bite is my friend" and hits Bulbasaur, which, obviously, does 8 damage...Then, Duclohm gets hurt by poison again. Is its damage elevating? It looked to do a lot more than it did last round. Looks like this action is ove-BAM. Wait no, not bam. Dig didn't even do anything to Duclohm. Pathetic.

    And yeah, I honestly don't have it in me to write anymore. Flamethrower hits, Stone Edge hits, Leech Seed hits, Tackle hits.

    SoS sweated a little now. Buggo was still in excellent shape, but Spiffy would almost certainly go down this round. "Buggo, just do the same as last round. Target Vinestrike until it is defeated, and then switch to Boulderstrike. Spiffy, hit Vinestrike with a Flamethrower, which will almost certainly finish it off. If you're still up, spam Hydro Pump on Boulderstrike!"

    Buggo: Tackle >>> Bug Bite >>> Tackle

    Spiffy: Flamethrower >>> Hydro Pumpx2

    Brandon sighed. There was nothing he could do to save Vinestrike now; he realized now that he should have used Synthesis the previous round in order to have enough HP to do something now. "Well Vinestrike, looks like this is the end for you, but in case you somehow get through the first action, Synthesis, then chill, then Synthesis again. Boulderstrike, since Vinestrike will be KOed you'll be free to Earthquake, but first hit that Duclohm with a Smack Down to get rid of Magnet Rise! Then Earthquake to finish off Duclohm and finally do some damage to that Metapod! Finish off with a Stone Edge on Metapod!"

    Summary:
    Vinestrike: Synthesis -> chill -> Synthesis
    Boulderstrike: Smack Down(Duclohm) -> Earthquake -> Stone Edge(Metapod)

    Brandon scowled as he brought Vinestrike back to her Pokeball. "Good job Vinestrike," he told her through the ball. "There wasn't much you could do with all the rotten luck we got." Grabbing his final Pokeball, he then released Nightstrike to the field. "OK guys, we have an uphill battle to fight but we aren't giving up just yet! Nightstrike, since neither of his Pokemon have moves to put you to sleep let's go with Super Luck to try and turn our fortunes around! Boulderstrike, we need to do as much damage to that Pupitar as possible, so go for three Earthquakes! If you end up being slower than the other Pupitar though, switch to Dig on Pupitar! Nightstrike, lead with a Sky Attack on Pupitar, then go for a Payback on it! Finish off with another Sky Attack!"

    Summary:
    Boulderstrike: Earthquake -> Earthquake -> Earthquake
    Replace any action where you move second with Dig(Pupitar)
    Nightstrike: Sky Attack(Pupitar) -> Payback(Pupitar) -> Sky Attack(Pupitar)

    SoS gritted his teeth. His strongest Pokémon was down for the count, but at least he no longer had to worry about Sleep Powder. Plus, Brandon's Pupitar was on the ropes, and was resorting to Earthquake-spamming. Murkrow had replaced Bulbasaur, and was going to hit him hard.

    "Mama, Bulldoze with all your might until Boulderstrike is down! If you have actions left, batter Nightstrike with powerful Stone Edges.

    "Buggo, thank the Lord, you're unTaunted. As Nightstrike charges its Sky Attack, you've got to get him with a String Shot, slam him into the ground, or into Boulderstrike if possible. That should disrupt his concentration. Then get him with a Bug Bite. Finish by String Shotting him into the ground to disrupt him again!"

    Mama: Bulldoze >>> Bulldoze >>> Stone Edge (Nightstrike)

    Buggo: String Shot (Nightstrike, into the ground/Pupitar to disrupt concentration) >>> Bug Bite (Nightstrike) >>> String Shot (Nightstrike, into the ground)

    Welcome back to this close, exciting match between SoS and Flamestrike. As the intensity rises, our combatants release their brand new Pokemon to face off to the death.

    Murkrow wastes no time and starts glowing? What's this? No one knows, but it's not attacking, so cool! Next, both the Pupitars stare at each other with hatred in their eyes. Pupitar then unleashes an Earthquake, which didn't really do much to the other Pokemon.
    Mama quickly leaps off the ground and literally bulldozes all over everyone; eww! Next, Metapod tries to fuck with Murkrow and make it hit other stuff using String Shot, but Sky Attack can hit any target from anywhere. That's right, I knew it was Sky Attack! I'm just messing with you guys.

    Murkrow gets its revenge on Pupitar with Payback! It didn't do much, but it's the effort that counts, right? Next, Mama the Pupitar is up due to String Shot. It goes for another Bulldoze, which does similar stuff, but knocks out Bolderstrike! Then, Pupitar uses Bug Bite on Murkrow! Ouch! Not really.

    Murkrow seems to be using...another Sky Attack. Okay then. Now, Pupitar is ready to use Stone Edge. It does successfully! Pupitar uses String Shot again, but just like last time, it just lowers Murkrow's Speed. Then, Murkrow uses Sky Attack again!

    Pretty sure I'm at -2 speed because using a +/-1 move with no damage prevents decay (hence the whole "is maintained" thing or whatever is there now). Also because I desperately need the help did you factor in both Super Luck and Sky Attack's extra chance to crit for my crit rolls?

    Boulderstrike was down, and SoS was one step closer to winning the battle. He had a clear type advantage with Mama against Nightstrike, but she had less health. It was time for all out offense, with Buggo's support. But Nightstrike had THE MIGHTY POWER OF HAX on his side with that infernal Super Luck. Still, double-teaming it would be his best option. But the data on Nightstrike displayed to him on his Pokétch irritated him... It had numerous irritating options.

    "Buggo baby, you know what to do. Just batter him as hard as you can. Mama, because of the speed drops, you're faster, and can get a Stone Edge off before he Roosts. We'll muscle our way through this!"

    Buggo: Bug Bite >>> Tackle >>> Bug Bite

    Mama: Rock Slide >>> Stone Edge >>> Stone Edge

    Brandon sighed. The first round had completely screwed him over, and now he could only watch as Shadoo's Pupitar and Metapod ganged up on poor Nightstrike. He clenched his fists. They weren't going down without a fight, and at least they'd take that Metapod down with them. "OK Nightstrike, start off with a Sky Attack on Metapod, then Roost! Finish off with a Peck on Metapod to finish off! If the first Sky Attack misses or otherwise fails, replace the Peck with another Sky Attack! And if the first Sky Attack knocks out Metapod, then replace that Peck with a Payback on Pupitar!"

    Summary:
    Sky Attack(Metapod) -> Roost -> Peck(Metapod)
    If first Sky Attack misses/fails, replace Peck with Sky Attack(Metapod)
    If Sky Attack KOes Metapod replace Peck with Payback(Pupitar)
