(For lack of a better picture)

Hi everyone! So you are faced off with player X in *insert tourney here*? Do you want a cheap way to win without using sample HO? Well you came to the right place! Some people tend to favour certain playstyles and certain Pokemon and certain builds, so naturally, some builds have natural matchup advantages over them. The purposes of this thread are to:

1) Give you ways to cheap your opponents in tourneys (or their teams if you know if they're using a specific team)
2) Motivate the players being counterteamed to add more varieties to their teams (or just use different teams) so they aren't as easily counterteamed

Please contribute more if you think you have fun counterteams :D. This will include teams from all gens from ADV (May include GSC and RBY if those tiers ever pick up).
Rules:
- Please post entire teams.
- Please provide a brief explanation on why you think it counterteams the specific person.
- Please provide a brief explanation on why it's not completely useless against everything else.
- Please use hide tags to save space

DISCLAIMER: This thread holds no responsibility if you used one of these teams against the intended target and still lost. Your opponent may have changed certain things in their team/playstyle since they know there are counterteams for them here, are using a different team entirely to spice things up or counterteam the counterteam, or you're just a terrible player and choked anyway.

Without further ado:

I made a counterteam for Pohjis because he always used the same team in roomtours. This team literally can't lose unless ur retarded. Psyceus is 2 counter deo-a and shit. Defog Ho-oh with 0- speed is to make sure it is slower than his primal groudon. His pdon carries plume/blades/sr/roar so defog hooh can just toxic stall and make sure rocks never get up. Pdon is the main xern check but hooh and lugia can also be used if pdon somehow gets worn down. Skarmory checks ekiller and mmence while being able to defog just in case pdon gets rocks up and ekiller/mmence try to revenge kill Ho-oh and stop defog. Mega-Tyranitar is to counter his mewtwo cause it lacks focus blast. Lugia is the main mmence check but it checks basically everything on his team and with good hazard control you basically justWIN. This team is 4-0 vs poh and I think he should try using different sets or teams cause this team is unbeatable.

Pretty much designed to beat hyw, who is only ever seen to use the ORAS bog standard HO sample team. Excadrill offers a solid lead against Deo-S in the form of hazard removal and set-up, with the niche Rock Tomb ensuring that Salamence Mega can DD all it wants in front of Exca but not get fucking anywhere. Ditto pretty much means that nothing on the standard sample can effectively set up w/o being threatened right back. Meanwhile, scarf Xern takes darkrai's d void and then just fucks it right back up, ensuring that's not an issue either. Otherwise, CM GhostCeus allows a secondary check to bulky recover E-Killer (who hyw loves to run), M Mence is just there because it's a monster, and special RP Don just runs through standard offense like a hot knife through butter, seeing as the primary check M Sal is wrecked by D Pulse. Many people know this team. It's the team steel lost to in Round 2 of Ubers open. This team is good versus offense for example the Toxic Spikes Cloyster team that Steel uses a lot. Mega Sableye has protect since some of his teams have Banded Ho-Oh so I can scout. Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon with Rest are used since he uses sometimes classic stall so sleeping is to burn turns and save PP for the stall war. Now the last point is that Steel sometimes likes to sneak opponents who occasionally rely on stall with Gothietelle so this team was designed to not give Gothietelle anyway to function.

Now this team is not only for steel. You guys can use it versus Orch and people who like Gothietelle and brainless offense since this team is good versus Offense of all kinds as well as Gothietelle teams. It also has a good shot versus Ho-Oh balance since everything is checked well. Enjoy!

Zf only uses scrubby ho-oh or groundceus balance teams so u just ct them with whim and rockceus!! xD by off chance that he uses that sd poisonceus team, u still have 4 twave core to hax ur way to victory. if he uses lati/gira-o or scolipede cheese teams then u just own em with sableye and of course 4 twaves.

this team is very good vs hack, sweep, and kitty too.

Welcome to the PHP AND Monsters of Men CLASSIC – the ultimate counter team to the Hack stall which has been the cause of so many gruelling 200 turn stall wars. This team aims to win via a SD GroundCeus sweep. The aforementioned lord is Adamant natured, as Hack’s stall is slow and fat as fuck, so the given spread allows maximum power and bulk. Mega Gengar and Gothitelle, the infamous cancer duo are your main weapons in this regard, with the sole aim of removing WaterCeus and Lugia for GroundCeus. Specifically, this involves luring out WaterCeus/Lugia out with GroundCeus, and then proceeding to trap and massacre the helpless fuckers. The two also pack G-Knot/Focus Miss, such that Tyranitar doesn’t come in and pick them off too easily. That said, a lure Yveltal set using Focus Blast/Knock Off is used to mitigate this to an extent, in hopes of overwhelming the green dinosaur. Knock Off is also nice for knocking off Blissey’s Shed Shell, so the pink blob can also be trapped and subsequently slaughtered. To round it off, Block GeoXern is there to ensure M Sab doesn’t just foul play all over you. Finally, the ORAS cancerlord himself Primal Groudon makes a guest appearance on the team, with fire blast to roast M Sableye and P Blades to rip the opposing P Don and TTar to shreds. Rest is added to ensure that you don’t die and can continuously put Stealth Rock up. This team tends to fare fairly decently against most stalls because in reality, all stalls are some kind of variant of Hack’s, and Stall is always going to encounter major issues with GothGar. That said, this team is fairly helpless against offensively orientated teams. S/O to Gunner Rohan for being bae and suggesting the Yveltal set.

Some Side Notes:
The spread for Gengar (before MEvo) and Adamant Groudceus just ensure that they're faster than Lugia + Waterceus, which is all you really need. I don't really know what the spreads for Xern and PDon mean or do, I just pulled them outta my ass because I couldn't be assed to check the proper spreads. In fact, I didn't actually know what I was doing with any of the spreads, so don't bother asking, you can change them to your liking. Fuck ORAS, #BWMasterRace. In any case, I digress. Oh, Yveltal can run either Taunt OR Owing, it's all on user preference, either work and have their own advantages. Also if you lose because Focus Blast missed, please direct all complaints to user n00b, thanks in advance.

Originally we had this based ass mother fucker on the team over Yveltal, but we decided to let go. You can try it over Yveltal for the lols if you want and are bored and literally have nothing better to do in your life for some reason.

Lastly, it should be fairly obvious, but you can never be too careful with the Ubers playerbase! Don't let GroudCeus get burnt as there is no way to heal it after it's burnt, just go to either of the 3 rest users to absorb status!

SR Ghostceus beats the shit out of Espeon AND Xatu, and also holds Deoxys-S to one hazard. The DracoMasters did not like using spinners...like ever...so Ghostceus's inability to spinblock well hardly matters!

Rock Polish Groudon had a terrific match-up vs both their Sun and Rain HO teams, and Shiftry buries standard Sun. Groudon is EV'd to outrun Scarf Terrakion, found on 75% of DM teams despite being mediocre, after a Rock Polish. Skarmory beats EKiller, SD Ghostceus (if you're fighting Blazing Glaciers), and SD Groundceus (if you're facing the improved version of Blazing Glaciers). This team is pretty ehh vs. rain stall, but DM rarely used stall anyway at they considered it skill-less.

This team is pretty much for full-on BW2 HO that hasn't got much in terms of disruption of weather. Basically, such teams generally have very little in terms of standing up to rain (usually a Rayquaza, Gira-O or Latios is the only Water-resist on the whole team, which you'd just blast through regardless of whether they resist it or not. I think Anik HO is the classic example that this team counterteams (Deo-S/Ekiller/Gira-O/Latios/Gene/Darkrai) - you literally just click a Water move and there's nothing your opponent can do. Everything just ends up dying. Don't even worry about hazards or switching, or whatever. Just click Water moves and win.

You can use this for other HO teams that add weather disruption into the mix (eg Donner/Tyranitar), but it requires a bit more skill to maneouvre Kyogre around so you can maximum Water move killing power (and so you don't get fucked by something like RP Donner) that you can't really consider this a counterteam any more. It can be done, you just need to play it well (it's not hard once you get the hang of it)

SD Scizor's pretty meh in ADV, but it does well against Forre/Bliss/Lati cores, something Dab really enjoys using. Most of the time I've played Dab, there's only one check to Scizor (usually Kyogre), and the rest of the time you can set up Scizor on pretty much whatever.

This is basically here to counterteam that one Groudon/Kyogre/Ho-oh/Lugia/Mewtwo/Rayquaza team that he uses constantly. Use Substitute to avoid Thunder Wave, and then proceed to rip the rest of the team into shreds with Ice Beam and Thunder. If he brings in Groudon to dampen Thunder's accuracy, just Rain Dance to bring rain back. Use this team until PTR decides to use a new team :D.

- Heal Block

Enjoy!

Banned deucer.
It was an absolute BLAST getting to know everyone here, both friends I have now and friends that have disappeared; but alas, my time has come. This thread has officially terminated my career. Shoutouts to shrang, Sweep, and tape for so eloquently spelling out my doom. As a DracoMaster and half-assed ORAS player, the content found within this thread has effectively left me with no more reason to play this game anymore. I will be going on an undetermined hiatus from here on...hope to see you all come the next generation! x)

Zf only uses scrubby ho-oh or groundceus balance teams so u just ct them with whim and rockceus!! xD by off chance that he uses that sd poisonceus team, u still have 4 twave core to hax ur way to victory. if he uses lati/gira-o or scolipede cheese teams then u just own em with sableye and of course 4 twaves.

this team is very good vs hack, sweep, and kitty too.

e: customize the evs, i made em generic af to hide my own spreads!

You played against me once with this team and I won, but ok. Agree on the bad part though.

How to beat Lord Outrage:
- Use any Pokemon that's C+ on the viability ranking or lower. The more unviable and meme-worthy it is, the higher chance you have of victory.

Explanation:
- Trout seems to have a hard time against weird and shitty Pokemon. Don't be afraid to use the most ultra-niche mons against him.

So, in other words, be Trickroom or Antacool?
