    Stick With it-A War Story

Well, I just got done playing this battle out. This isn't the greatest of War Stories out there, as there isn't a ton of great predictions and nail biting success going on, but this battle was a tough one so I thought I'd share.

    sfgiantsfanmike joined.
    XrayVyper joined.
    Format:
    RU
    sfgiantsfanmike's team:
    Entei / Nidoqueen / Druddigon / Uxie / Slowking / Clefable
    XrayVyper's team:
    Sceptile / Durant / Magmortar / Braviary / Uxie / Slowking

Let me start by saying that I did not want to fight this battle. My connection is shared with a roommate and some neighbors who were all on and I hit the cancel button well before the battle screen popped up. I didn't want the battle but if the bloody connection is going to give me a battle like that I'll bloody well fight it.

So scanning his team the first thing I saw was that Durant, something that can clean sweep this team if given a chance to set up. I lead with my Uxie as is my norm hoping for his Uxie to lead so I could get rocks on the field and take a bite out of him before he gets a chance to get going.

Battle between sfgiantsfanmike and XrayVyper started!
    sfgiantsfanmike sent out Uxie!
    XrayVyper sent out Durant!

Okay, he lead with Durant, probably hoping for a clean sweep. Knowing Durant needs to set up before being super threatening I feel like I'm going to have one shot to stop this Durant sweep. I want rocks up and almost click that but if this thing is allowed to get going rocks won't matter...

    Turn 1
The foe's Durant used Hone Claws!
    The foe's Durant's Attack rose!
    The foe's Durant's Accuracy rose!
    Uxie used Trick Room!
    Uxie twisted the dimensions!

Luckily my hunch was right, he tried to set up first. I get off a Trick Room, meaning everything on my team will move before the steel ant. Well, I did want rocks up so...

    Turn 2
    Uxie used Stealth Rock!
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!
    The foe's Durant used X-Scissor!
It's super effective! Uxie lost 100% of its health!
The foe's Durant lost some of its HP!
    Uxie fainted!
    sfgiantsfanmike sent out Druddigon!

    me 5/ him 6

Pretty much anything I switch in now is going to be toast so I get up rocks while I can and get something else in cleanly.

Outrage from Druddigon can 2HKO most Durants I've faced and I feel like this one would be no different; however, my Druddigon will probably only get one shot at him so I have to click on Fire Punch and hope he doesn't switch in a resist...

    Turn 3
    XrayVyper called Durant back!
    XrayVyper sent out Slowking!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Slowking!
    Druddigon used Fire Punch!
It's not very effective... The foe's Slowking lost 24% of its health!
The foe's Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!

This is the point my connection just about dies on me and costs me the match. Luckily Windows repairs the connection before I time out. The RNG seems to want to make me pay for that later but oh well.

He swapped in the Slowking and my Druddigon is banded... one of the few times I've wished I'd had Life Orb on him instead. Oh, and PS apparently got the message to use Fire Punch again somehow but that probably let me stay in the match by not timing out so the next 'play' is a mixed bag.

    Turn 4
    sfgiantsfanmike: Me?
    sfgiantsfanmike: Yep...
    XrayVyper: ?
sfgiantsfanmike: Sorry, tried to cancel joining a game when I saw speed slow
sfgiantsfanmike: But PS decided to throw me in a game anyway...
    Druddigon used Fire Punch!
It's not very effective... The foe's Slowking lost 24% of its health!
The foe's Slowking used Slack Off!
    The foe's Slowking regained health!
The foe's Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!

    Turn 5
    XrayVyper: ah
    sfgiantsfanmike has 90 seconds left.
    sfgiantsfanmike has 60 seconds left.
    sfgiantsfanmike called Druddigon back!
    sfgiantsfanmike sent out Clefable!
The foe's Slowking used Thunder Wave!
Clefable was paralyzed! It may be unable to move!
The twisted dimensions returned to normal!

I swap in my Cleffable, a Toxic Orb/Facade wall breaker, and get T-Waved instead. Let the hax begin!

    Turn 6
You have 130 seconds to make your decision.
    sfgiantsfanmike has 120 seconds left.
    XrayVyper called Slowking back!
    XrayVyper sent out Braviary!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Braviary!
Clefable is paralyzed! It can't move!
The foe's Braviary restored HP using its Leftovers!
    Turn 7
You have 140 seconds to make your decision.
    The foe's Braviary used Substitute!
The foe's Braviary put in a substitute!
The foe's Braviary lost 25% of its health!
    Clefable used Facade!
    The foe's Braviary's substitute faded!
The foe's Braviary restored HP using its Leftovers!
    Turn 8
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    XrayVyper has 120 seconds left.
    The foe's Braviary used Roost!
    The foe's Braviary regained health!
    Clefable used Facade!
The foe's Braviary lost 60% of its health!
The foe's Braviary restored HP using its Leftovers!
    Turn 9
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    XrayVyper has 120 seconds left.
The foe's Braviary used Brave Bird!
Clefable lost 54% of its health!
The foe's Braviary is damaged by recoil!
    Clefable used Facade!
The foe's Braviary lost 29% of its health!
    The foe's Braviary fainted!

me 5 (down Uxie)/ him 5 (down Braviary)

Pretty much just spammed Facade to try and kill his Braviary and somehow succeeded. I thought he'd just spam Brave Bird a few times and take him out but I guess he was hoping for more parahax to keep his health up to sweep with it.

    XrayVyper sent out Durant!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Durant!
    Turn 10
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
The foe's Durant used Hone Claws!
    The foe's Durant's Attack rose!
    The foe's Durant's Accuracy rose!
Clefable is paralyzed! It can't move!

What was that about parahax? Now that let the ant set up again making him very dangerous to my team instead of leaving him a roasted ant. Going to have to sac my Cleffable and hope priority can win the day.

    Turn 11
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    sfgiantsfanmike has 120 seconds left.
The foe's Durant used Iron Head!
Clefable lost 46% of its health!
The foe's Durant lost some of its HP!
    Clefable fainted!
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
me 4(down Ux and Clef)/ him 5 (Down Braviary)

You can see my connection did me few favors throughout the match and it was hard to stay 'in the flow' but at this point I was willing to grind it out and see if I could turn this into a win.

    sfgiantsfanmike sent out Druddigon!
    Turn 12
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    XrayVyper: yeah
    Druddigon used Sucker Punch!
It's not very effective... The foe's Durant lost 26% of its health!
The foe's Durant used Rock Slide!
Druddigon lost 69% of its health!
The foe's Durant lost some of its HP!

Not sure why he choose to Rock Slide my dragon type, as I do believe that either of his other attacks would have finished it off. Well, that lets me try and get in another Sucker Punch; however, he should at least expect my Druddigon to be banded and could be trying to stall out SP with Hone Claw, such is the fate of a banded SP.

    Turn 13
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
sfgiantsfanmike: 6 times in 10 turns last match...
    Druddigon used Sucker Punch!
    But it failed!
The foe's Durant used Hone Claws!
    The foe's Durant's Attack rose!
    The foe's Durant's Accuracy rose!
    Turn 14
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    Druddigon used Sucker Punch!
    But it failed!
The foe's Durant used Hone Claws!
    The foe's Durant's Attack rose!
    The foe's Durant's Accuracy rose!
    Turn 15
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.

Well, he started to try and stall me out. After the second Hone Claw I figured he would try and stall me out with it, possibly giving me the opportunity of swapping in my Entei so I can get off a Extreme Speed and possibly finish him off; however, if I guess wrong it's a OHKO on my Entei and I'm back to trying to get lucky with SP. I decided to test his patience: will he predict the switch and attack or continue to try and stall out SP?

    Druddigon used Sucker Punch!
It's not very effective... The foe's Durant lost 27% of its health!
The foe's Durant used Rock Slide!
Druddigon lost 31% of its health!
The foe's Durant lost some of its HP!
    Druddigon fainted!
    The foe's Durant fainted!
me 3 (Down Drudd, Ux, Clef)/ him 4 (Down Durant/Braviary)

Oh, wow, Life Orb recoil takes it's life costing my opponent a very big weapon. This is good for me but I'm still down three 'mon to his 2. I take a look at what he has left and figure he might want to get rocks up at this point so I send out my Slowking to attempt a Trick Room sweep after a Nasty Plot or 2.

You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    XrayVyper has 120 seconds left.
    XrayVyper sent out Uxie!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Uxie!
    sfgiantsfanmike sent out Slowking!
    Turn 16
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
The foe's Uxie used Stealth Rock!
Pointed stones float in the air around your team!
    Slowking used Nasty Plot!
    Slowking's Special Attack sharply rose!
The foe's Uxie restored HP using its Leftovers!
    Turn 17
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    The foe's Uxie used Yawn!
    Slowking grew drowsy!
    Slowking used Nasty Plot!
    Slowking's Special Attack sharply rose!
The foe's Uxie restored HP using its Leftovers!

Ack, luckily I went for a second NP rather than setting up Trick Room because that would have messed things up big time for the rest of my pokemon. Although a Surf would have been optimal...
    Turn 18
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    sfgiantsfanmike called Slowking back!
    sfgiantsfanmike sent out Nidoqueen!
    Pointed stones dug into Nidoqueen!
    The foe's Uxie used U-turn!
A critical hit! It's not very effective... Nidoqueen lost 12% of its health!
    XrayVyper called Uxie back!
    XrayVyper sent out Slowking!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Slowking!
The foe's Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!

Okay, great move on my opponents part. You know I have to switch out or go to sleep so you can U-Turn to scout my switch in and throw out it's counter. Luckily I guessed right and put the Queen to work. Slowking still has major type advantage but I figure I have two things working for me here: I will move first and nothing is immune to T-Bolt on his team and hax has been decidedly against me the past few matches so I figure I am due to crit at some point and might as well test the waters, right? Or as my favorite general said, 'Dovie'andi se tovya sagain.'

    Turn 19
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    Nidoqueen used Thunderbolt!
It's super effective! The foe's Slowking lost 58% of its health!
    The foe's Slowking used Scald!
It's super effective! Nidoqueen lost 62% of its health!
The foe's Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!

Ouch, that hurt but if he doesn't switch out his 'King it's going to die to another TBolt and nothing on his team is immune. I thought about trying a Sludge Wave or Earth Power but I didn't want to risk not getting the KO.

    Turn 20
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    XrayVyper has 120 seconds left.
    XrayVyper called Slowking back!
    XrayVyper sent out Uxie!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Uxie!
    Nidoqueen used Thunderbolt!
The foe's Uxie lost 32% of its health!
The foe's Uxie restored HP using its Leftovers!

And out comes Uxie again, the Queens main counter. Well he's played offensively so far so instead of leaving myself open to him Yawning my switch in I decided to try and end his Uxie (I'm still due a crit at some point, right?!).
    Turn 21
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    The foe's Uxie used Yawn!
    Nidoqueen grew drowsy!
    Nidoqueen used Sludge Wave!
The foe's Uxie lost 52% of its health!
The foe's Uxie restored HP using its Leftovers!

Yawn as I figured. I figured he'd Psychic and end my Nidoqueen at this point so I intend to sac her here and click Sludge Wave again.

    Turn 22
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    The foe's Uxie used U-turn!
It's not very effective... Nidoqueen lost 6% of its health!
    XrayVyper called Uxie back!
    XrayVyper sent out Slowking!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Slowking!
    Nidoqueen used Sludge Wave!
The foe's Slowking lost 38% of its health!
    Nidoqueen fell asleep!
The foe's Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!

D'oh, if I'd thought about Regenerator I would have clicked Thunderbolt. I've done similar moves with mine before to heal him up so I should have seen that possibility coming and hedged for it. Now I have a sleeping Queen out there, perfect set up bait for anything that wants to switch in. Well, I'm still in sac mode so I decide to see how this pans out.

    Turn 23
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    XrayVyper called Slowking back!
    XrayVyper sent out Slick (Sceptile)!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Slick!
    Nidoqueen is fast asleep.
    Turn 24
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    The foe's Slick used Acrobatics!
The Flying Gem strengthened Acrobatics's power!
Nidoqueen lost 14% of its health!
    Nidoqueen fainted!
me 2 (Entei and Slowking)/ him 4 (down Durant and Braviary)

Swap to Sceptile and activate Unburden? Not a horrible play on his part but I personally would have save that for something with more than a sliver of health especially considering that I have an Entei left which screams 'Beware of the Banded ESpeed.'

You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    sfgiantsfanmike sent out Entei!
    Pointed stones dug into Entei!
    Entei is exerting its pressure!
    Turn 25
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    Entei used ExtremeSpeed!
The foe's Slick lost 71% of its health!
    The foe's Slick used Earthquake!
It's super effective! Entei lost 58% of its health!
    Turn 26
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    Entei used ExtremeSpeed!
The foe's Slick lost 16% of its health!
    The foe's Slick fainted!
me 2 (Entei and Slowking)/ him 3 (Magmortar, Slowking, Uxie)

I had one option left to me at this point: Espeed and hope for the best and the best happened, with Sceptile going down and not able to threaten my Slowking. I'm guessing he counting on winning the speed war and TBolting my 'King.
He has an Uxie, Magmortar and Slowking left versus a Entei at about 30% and a fresh Slowking... this doesn't look good and I contemplate just forfeiting but, dang it, if the thing is going to throw me into a fight I didn't want in the first place I might as well grind it out and see what comes of it.

    XrayVyper sent out Slowking!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Slowking!
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    Turn 27

    Entei used ExtremeSpeed!
The foe's Slowking lost 39% of its health!
The foe's Slowking used Slack Off!
    The foe's Slowking regained health!
The foe's Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!

Oh dear me, my strategy of ESpeeding and hoping for the best may well backfire here. I have yet to critical and he's within range at this point so I fish for the Crit.

    Turn 28
    Entei used ExtremeSpeed!
The foe's Slowking lost 41% of its health!
The foe's Slowking used Slack Off!
    The foe's Slowking regained health!

    The foe's Slowking used Scald!
It's super effective! Entei lost 17% of its health!
    Entei fainted!
me Slowking/ him Slowking, Magmortar and Uxie

Well that didn't go so well. Several turns of stubbornly fishing for a crit costs me my Entei and I'm down to a 3 on 1 where at least one of those three should have a Super Effective move on him. I've come this far and will not hit that Forfeit button!

As I see it I have one option remaining: set up TR and get to +4 SAtk as soon as possible while hoping the inevitable parahax doesn't mess with me too bad.

The foe's Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    sfgiantsfanmike sent out Slowking!

Okay, come one now! A teensy bit of help here RNG?!

    Turn 35
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.

It's not very effective... Slowking lost 12% of its health!
    Slowking used Trick Room!
    Slowking twisted the dimensions!
Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!

I suppose he's fishing for a SDef drop at this point and with the way the RNG has treated me today doesn't leave me feeling very confident.

    Turn 36
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    XrayVyper has 120 seconds left.

Are we done with that yet?! At least no SDef drop

    Slowking's Special Attack sharply rose!

Pointed stones dug into the foe's Magmortar!
    Slowking used Nasty Plot!
    Slowking's Special Attack sharply rose!
Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!
The twisted dimensions returned to normal!

And his Slowking stalls for just enough time to get his Magmortar in as Dimensions return to normal. Looking back I should have attacked there but I was again being stubborn with my plan of attack. Well, at this point I'm figuring it's GG time after a TBolt but I must continue to move forward with my plan and not waste a single click at this point or it will be GG. I HAVE to get Trick Room up this turn or it's curtains... if I survive, if not it's curtains anyway.

    Turn 40
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
The foe's Magmortar used Hidden Power!
It's super effective! Slowking lost 47% of its health!
    Slowking used Trick Room!
    Slowking twisted the dimensions!
Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!

No TBolt?! What threat was so huge that he used HP grass for instead of TBolt?! Profit, profit, profit. My Stubborn refusal to not quit reveals a bad set up by my opponent AND the RNG works with me. Now hopefully it continues to or....

    Turn 41
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    Slowking used Surf!
It's super effective! The foe's Magmortar lost 75% of its health!

Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!
    XrayVyper sent out Uxie!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Uxie!
me Slowking/ him Uxie and Slowking

Got him, no parahax this turn. His Uxie is looking bad but a U-Turn could spell the end of me if the parahax kicks in.

    Turn 42
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    Slowking used Surf!
The foe's Uxie lost 4% of its health!
    The foe's Uxie fainted!
Slowking restored HP using its Leftovers!
    XrayVyper sent out Slowking!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Slowking!

One on one fight to the pain between Slowking and, luckily for me, I looked forward in time when I was setting up this guy and went with the ability to hit both defenses over the extra power of Psychic.

    Turn 43
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    Slowking used Psyshock!
It's not very effective... The foe's Slowking lost 74% of its health!

    Turn 44
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.
    XrayVyper: yup psyshock
    XrayVyper forfeited.
    sfgiantsfanmike won the battle!

Yay I win, I win! XrayVyper could have fished for parahax and tried to pull out the win but decided to forfeit instead. We know who the MVP is and who will be leading the 'slops' section.

    MVP:
Slowking: Down three to one and he comes through big time, fights off parahax and the opponents pokemon at the same time.

    Props:
XrayVyper for leading with Durant and putting me in a really bad situation right from the get go.
My Uxie for taking one for the team early and not letting Durant take the game from me.
The opposing Slowking for taking such a beating and managing to hang around for so long.
RNG for balancing out over the course of the match, specifically the last 7 turns parahax free.

    Slops:
Me for not checking my connection before hitting the 'find match' button.
Braviary for trying to stall out a Cleffable without leftovers recovery (Life Orb or Toxic Orb equipped =pain incoming).
Me fire punching a Slowking not once but twice even if internet connection played a role.
Durant for all the play around I had to do it still went down without doing to much damage, and the choice of LO over leftovers or some other defensive aid.
Sceptile going for Unburden Sweep with ESpeed Entei possibly still in the wings.
Again me for fishing for a crit with my Entei. Worked out but was a needless sac play.
Lastly I must list Xray here for forfeiting as he could have fished for parahax and tried to pull the match out.

So that's my war story. Not a lot of great play and much waiting around for the connection to get going but in the end I grinded out the victory. This is my first War Story so hopefully it's entertaining.

PS: Will edit in some sprites and such later to make it a little more visually appealing but wanted to get this up while still fresh in my mind.
