OU Swampert

Overview
########

Swampert has a Mega Evolution that gives it a huge niche in OU. Swampert's Mega Evolution has an insanely high base 150 Attack stat and an amazing ability in Swift Swim, which doubles its Speed in the rain and allows it to sweep effectively. This capability allows Mega Swampert to be a great asset to rain teams for many reasons. First off, Swampert's Water / Ground typing is great offensively, hitting all targets bar Grass-types and Flying-types that resist Water for neutral damage. It is great defensively as well, giving Swampert only a weakness to the Grass-type, thus complementing its good bulk. Swampert's Ground typing also gives it an immunity to the Electric-type, which means that its sweep cannot be cut short by Thundurus's and Klefki's priority Thunder Wave. Furthermore, Swampert's Mega Evolution's added bulk means that it is less susceptible to priority moves such as Bullet Punch and Sucker Punch, making it even harder to revenge kill. However, Mega Swampert is somewhat slow outside of the rain, due to its underwhelming base 70 Speed, leaving it very prone to strong attacks. Mega Swampert is also worn down very easily due to its susceptibility to burns and all entry hazards. Mega Swampert also is unable to hold a boosting item unlike other rain sweepers such as Kabutops, which means coverage moves such as Ice Punch will have underwhelming damage outputs.

Swift Swim
########
name: Swift Swim
move 1: Waterfall
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Ice Punch
move 4: Low Kick
ability: Damp
item: Swampertite
evs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

Waterfall is Mega Swampert's main STAB attack, and deals huge damage in the rain. Although minor, it also has a small flinch chance, which can be very helpful at times. Earthquake is Mega Swampert's secondary STAB attack, and hits targets such as Magnezone for good damage. Ice Punch provides coverage against Grass-types such as Breloom. Low Kick hits Pokemon that the above three moves can't hit for good damage, such as Ferrothorn and Mega Gyarados. If needed, Rain Dance is an option for manual rain, but Swampert will be missing out on coverage.

Set Details
========

Damp is the chosen ability prior to Mega Evolving, but it will almost never see use due to the lack of exploding moves in OU and how Swampert will usually Mega Evolve immediately; however, Torrent is even more useless. Swift Swim is the ability after Mega Evolution, and doubles Mega Swampert's Speed in rain; do note that Swift Swim activates only the turn after Swampert Mega Evolves. Swampertite is needed for allowing Swampert to Mega Evolve. 252 Attack EVs with an Adamant nature maximize Attack, allowing Mega Swampert to hit as hard as possible. 152 Speed EVs let Mega Swampert outspeed Timid Mega Sceptile and Jolly Mega Beedrill under rain. 104 HP EVs add on to bulk.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Swampert should be brought in immediately after rain has been set, as eight turns is relatively short and it would be very detrimental to lose any of it. Mega Swampert should sweep late-game when its checks and counters have been eliminated from the match or weakened to the point where it can finish them off. Mega Swampert should avoid burns and status under all circumstances, as the former cuts its Attack in half and poison puts a timer on its survivability. Waterfall is the move that you should be spamming most of the time due to its significantly higher power under rain.

Team Options
========

The absolute best teammate that could ever be paired up with Mega Swampert is Politoed. Drizzle instantly activates rain, which enables Mega Swampert to sweep. Furthermore, it can cripple opposing physically bulky Pokemon such as Ferrothorn with Encore, opening the door for Swampert. Tornadus is a good partner as well, as it can set up its own rain easily thanks to Prankster, takes advantage of the rain with Hurricane, resists Grass-type attacks, and can U-turn into Mega Swampert. Partners that also take advantage of rain such as Kingdra make good partners, as they form rain offense cores. Kabutops in particular checks BirdSpam from the likes of Talonflame, making it harder to take down Mega Swampert. Ironically, Ferrothorn makes for a great partner, as it counters a good portion of Swampert's checks and appreciates Fire-type attacks being weakened in rain. Entry hazard support is great for netting more KOs; Skarmory resists Grass-type attacks and has both Stealth Rock and Spikes, while the aforementioned Ferrothorn is able to set up Stealth Rock. Magnezone traps and KOes Mega Swampert's checks such as Ferrothorn before rain is set, making it a good partner. Gothitelle can also cripple or defeat Mega Swampert's checks and counters, such as Mew with Trick and Ferrothorn with Hidden Power Fire. Latios and Latias are both great switch-ins to Rotom-W, and can weaken Ferrothorn with Hidden Power Fire to the point where Low Kick finishes it off.

Other Options
########

Mega Swampert can run Stealth Rock in one of its slots to naturally wear down its opponents if nothing one else on your team packs it; however, it takes away coverage, which is generally undesirable. Curse is an option, but Mega Swampert struggles to find turns to set up, and it is counterproductive with Swift Swim. Power-Up Punch can be used over Low Kick to boost Attack. Superpower acts as a nuke and can KO weakened Rotom-W, but the stat drop is very undesirable. Swampert can run Protect to safely Mega Evolve and activate Swift Swim, but it takes up a moveslot. Endeavor can be used to wear down Swampert's checks.

Checks & Counters
########

**Grass-types**: Because Mega Swampert won't OHKO most Grass-type opponents with Ice Punch, they are the easiest answers to Mega Swampert. Ferrothorn in particular stands out, as it can take any attack from Mega Swampert, including Low Kick, and OHKO back with Power Whip. Mega Venusaur can take any attack as well and regain its health with Giga Drain. Celebi also takes only up to 42% from Ice Punch, and OHKOes Mega Swampert in return.

**Physical Walls*: Mega Swampert's sheer power does not suffice in breaking through physically bulky Pokemon. Pokemon such as Mega Slowbro and Suicune can easily set up on or outlast Mega Swampert given they have recovery.

**Burns**: Like any physical attacker, burns easily hinder Mega Swampert's ability to deal much damage throughout the match, as they slice its Attack stat in half and leave it to deal laughable amounts of damage, as well as slowly wear it down. Sableye is able to use Prankster Will-O-Wisp before Swampert Mega Evolves, making it a problem as well.

**Weather Changes**: Swampert heavily relies on rain to be effective, so if the weather changes between Mega Charizard Y's Drought or Tyranitar and Hippowdon's Sand Stream, Swampert will be heavily impacted.

**Rotom-W**: Rotom-W resists every move Mega Swampert commonly carries, and it takes next to nothing from Low Kick. In return, Rotom-W can easily burn Mega Swampert or hit it with Hydro Pump, which will most likely be boosted by rain.

Protect is definitely an option as well as you want that immediate mega evolution ensured. Ferro is a nice partner who also gets up SR. Kabutopd is also a great partner who takes the bird spam aimed at the mega pert. i'd also slash gothitelle with zone as it can trap pokemon like rotom and cripple them with trick as well as hp firing ferro and trapping skarm for pert.

Did this and added Protect in OO. Please take another look at this :]

I have a few comments on this n_n.

Overview
########
  • Great bulk, making it less susceptible to priority and the like
Mention which priority (Bullet Punch mainly).
  • Great offensive typing and defensive typing
Mention one uncommon weakness here.
  • Slow outside of rain
well I mean not necessarily, it's got the same Speed stat as Bisharp and anything below it. I'd rephrase this to something along the lines of "Loses its boosted Speed when Rain is not up" ya know?
  • Easily worn down
By what? Is it Will-O-Wisp? Entry hazards? Attackers? Explain it a bit.
Swift Swim
########
name: Swift Swim
move 1: Waterfall
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Ice Punch
move 4: Low Kick
ability: Damp
item: Swampertite
evs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

  • Waterfall is a STAB attack, and deals huge damage in rain
Possibly mention flinch chance and how consistent it is and that's why it's used over other Water-type STAB moves.
  • Ice Punch hits weakened Grass-types for good damage
Such as? I'd mention specifics here because it actually doesn't hit Ferrothorn hard at all.

Also, in Low Kick section, change "you" to Mega Swampert.

  • Rain Dance allows for manual rain if needed
But then coverage is missed out on.

I'd also expand on what each move is specifically used for. For example, "Earthquake hits the various Water-type switch ins that Waterfall fails to."

Set Details
========

  • Damp is the ability before Swampert mega evolves, but it then turns into Swift Swim which doubles its Speed in rain
Mention the rare instances of Damp and how Swift Swim doesn't work the turn of Mega Evolving. Also, "you" don't have the ability, Swampert does.

Usage Tips
========

  • Bring Swampert immediately after rain has been set, because 8 turns is somewhat short and it can't waste any time
  • Avoid burns and status under all circumstances they wear Swampert down and the former cuts Swampert's attack in half.
Once again, Swampert vs "you".
  • Very simple to use, set up rain and switch out immediately, while doing this late-game.
In Usage Tips, I'd expand on what each move is used for. For example, "Using Waterfall as the primary move is the best route, as it is the most powerful move under Rain."

Team Options
========

  • Hazard support is great for netting more KOs
What hazards? From what?
  • Magnezone traps and KOs Swampert's checks before rain is set
  • Gothitelle can also cripple Swampert's checks and counters with Trick, as well as being able to use Hidden Power Fire on Ferrothorn
What specifically does it trap?

Other Options
########

  • Superpower lets Swampert hit weakened Rotom-W hard enough to ko it
  • Swampert can use Protect for safely mega evolving, but it generally takes up a moveslot
I'd mention that Stealth Rock is nice because it can wear down its checks naturally and can be used as a Stealth Rock + 3 Attack set. Then again, coverage!

Checks & Counters
########

nice :)

This is basically just expansion on some stuff haha, but be sure to remember the "you" issue I commented on! Nice job otherwise :].

along with sceptile, mention that the speed evs allow it to outspeed beedrill as well.

Mega Swampert can run a non-rain offense set, and can run Stealth Rock and 3 Attacks to function more as a tank as well as naturally wear down its checks. However, no recovery greatly takes away from this set and the lack of coverage is a problem.
with this statement, you're implying that mega swampert is viable outside of rain as a bulky sr tank. unfortunately, that is not the case as it's outclassed in that department by the likes of seismitoad. the only set that should be used is the offensive rain sweeping one. you should mention something along the lines of "stealth rock is also a viable option if nothing else on your team can run it" or something. also delete roar from OO, offensive pressure should be enough to deter set up and it's a waste of a slot. also maybe mention endeavor in OO? i've seen it used a few times and it shows some promise, but more opinions on that would be nice. just make sure to fix those errors but gj 1/3 .

Mention Lati@s in team options, they are great switch-ins to Rotom-W. HP Fire variants are also capable of weakening Ferrothorn to the point where Low Kick takes it out.

Overview

With the advent of ORAS, Swampert was gifted with a Mega Evolution that planted him a huge niche in OU. Swampert's Mega Evolution has an insanely high base 150 Attack stat and an amazing ability in Swift Swim, (AC) that which doubles its Speed in the rain, which and allows it to sweep in the rain effectively. This capability (less ambiguous: I assume you refer to its sweeping capabilities rather than Swift Swim) allows Mega Swampert to be a great asset to rain teams for many reasons. First off, Swampert's Water- and Ground- Water / Ground typing is great offensively, hitting all targets bar Grass-types and Flying-types that resist Water for good neutral damage. (add period), while its typing It (split because it was becoming a run-on) is also (redundant with 'as well') great defensively as well, giving it Swampert only one a ('one' would imply having two weaknesses to the Grass-type is possible, unless I were to add a comma before 'to', which makes the sentence kinda unreadable) weakness to the Grass-type, thus complimenting complementing its good bulk. Swampert's Ground typing (remove dash) also gives it an immunity to the ever-present Electric-type, which means that while it is sweeping in rain, it its sweep cannot be cut short by Thundurus's and Klefki's priority Thunder Wave. Furthermore, Swampert's Mega Evolution's added bulk means that it is less susceptible to priority moves such as Bullet Punch and Sucker Punch, meaning that it is making it even harder to revenge kill it. However, Mega Swampert is somewhat slow outside of the rain, (RC) due to its underwhelming base 70 Speed, leaving it very prone to strong attacks. Mega Swampert is also worn down very easily, due to it being susceptible its susceptibility to burns and all entry hazards. Mega Swampert also is unable to hold a Life Orb boosting item unlike other rain sweepers such as Kabutops, which means other coverage moves such as Ice Punch will have underwhelming damage outputs. Despite these shortcomings, Swampert's Mega Evolution is easily one of the best assets rain teams have, and it will almost always put in work if it is given rain support.

Low Kick hits Pokemon that the above 3 three (spell out numbers under 20, except statistics and EV spreads and the like) moves can't hit for good damage, such as Ferrothorn and Mega Gyarados. If needed, Rain Dance is an option for manual rain, but you'll Swampert will be missing out on coverage.

Set Details

Damp is the chosen ability prior to Swampert Mega Evolving, but it will almost never see use due to the lack of exploding moves in OU and how Swampert will usually Mega Evolve immediately; however, Torrent is even more useless. (if it's this bad, it needs some justification) Swift Swim is the ability after Mega Evolution, (RC) and doubles Mega Swampert's Speed in rain; do note that Swift Swim activates only the turn after Swampert Mega Evolves. Swampertite is the Mega Stone needed for allowing Mega Swampert to Mega Evolve. 252 Attack EVs with an Adamant nature maximize Attack, allowing Mega Swampert to hit as hard as possible. 152 Speed EVs let Mega Swampert outspeed Timid Mega Sceptile and Timid Mega Beedrill under rain. 104 HP EVs add on to bulk.

Mega Swampert should avoid burns and status under all circumstances, (AC) as the former cuts its Attack in half and (important information up front) they all (well actually they don't, only poison does, so I'm not quite sure what you mean here)put a timer on its survivability and the former cuts its Attack in half. Waterfall should be is the move that you should be spamming most of the time due to its significantly higher power under rain, unless any other move does more damage. (self-explanatory)

Mega Swampert can run Stealth Rock in one of its slots to naturally wear down its opponents if no one else on your team packs it; however, it takes away coverage, (AC) which is generally detrimental undesirable. (i don't like the combination of such a strong word with a weakening word like 'generally', this fits better. Just 'detrimental' is fine also, up to you) Curse is an option, but Mega Swampert struggles to find turns to set up, and Mega Swampert would generally outspeed opponents in rain it is counterproductive with Swift Swim. Power-Up Punch (remove second dash) can be used over Low Kick to boost Attack. Superpower acts as a nuke and can KO weakened Rotom-W, but the stat drop is very undesirable. Swampert can run Protect to safely activate Swift Swim, but it takes up a moveslot. Endeavor can be used to wear down Swampert's checks.

**Grass-types**: Because Mega Swampert will won't OHKO most Grass-type opponents with Ice Punch, Grass-types they are the easiest answer to Mega Swampert, granted that they aren't weakened. (again, self-explanatory) Ferrothorn in particular stands out as a good answer counter (less repetitive, any synonym is fine really) to Mega Swampert, as it can take any attack from Swampert, including Low Kick, and OHKO back with Power Whip. Mega Venusaur also is a great answer to Mega Swampert, as it can take any attack as well, (RC) and regain its health back (redundant with re-gain) with Giga Drain. **Physical Walls*: Mega Swampert's sheer power does not suffice in allowing it to break breaking through physically bulky Pokemon. Pokemon such as Mega Slowbro and Suicune can easily set up on or outlast Mega Swampert given they have recovery.

**Burns**: Like the nature of any physical attacker, burns easily hinder Mega Swampert's ability to deal much damage throughout the match, as it slowly wears it down, as well as slices they slice (more important information up front, and I reckon this is the bigger problem with burns) its Attack stat in half, leaving and leave it to deal laughable amounts of damage, as well as slowly wear it down. **Weather changes**: Swampert heavily relies on rain to be very effective, so if the weather changes between Mega Charizard Y's Sun Drought or Tyranitar and Hippowdon's Sand Stream, Swampert will be heavily impacted.

**Rotom-W**: Rotom-W resists every move Mega Swampert has in its arsenal commonly carries, and it takes next to nothing from Low Kick. In return, Rotom-W can easily burn Mega Swampert or hit it with Hydro Pump, which will most likely be boosted by rain.
