[OVERVIEW]

Tangrowth is one of the best pivots in the OU metagame with its great defensive typing in Grass, which allows it to check a number of threats such as Ash-Greninja, Zygarde, and Tapu Koko. It can perform as a great wall both physically with its Rocky Helmet set to deal with Pokemon like Mega Metagross, as well as specially with an Assault Vest, which is required for surviving hits from Pokemon like Ash-Greninja. Tangrowth is able to fill these roles well due to Regenerator, allowing it to heal off passive damage while switching, retaining momentum for its teammates while still being able to repeatedly switch into the threats that it needs to check. Despite its general lack of power, Tangrowth has great utility moves such as Knock Off and coverage moves such as Earthquake for Heatran, Hidden Power Ice for Zygarde and Landorus-T, and Hidden Power Fire for Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor. However, Tangrowth is relatively passive and relies on its super effective coverage to be a threat, and the Assault Vest set is prone to Knock Off, which means that it has a much harder time switching into the threats that it needs to check if it loses its Assault Vest.

Moves
========

Giga Drain is a reliable STAB move that allows Tangrowth to combat the Water-types that it is meant to check. Leaf Storm is a more damaging alternative that notably OHKOes Manaphy after Stealth Rock damage, which is useful if Tangrowth's team is weak to it; this comes with the drawback of dropping its Special Attack, which can force Tangrowth out in situations where it might want to stay in. Knock Off is Tangrowth's most useful utility move on this set, removing items and weakening foes for its teammates to take advantage of. Hidden Power Ice allows Tangrowth to weaken Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Garchomp, which can otherwise set up on Tangrowth. Hidden Power Fire is mainly used to hit Ferrothorn, which takes the rest of Tangrowth's moves with ease, and it also hits Mega Scizor; however, be wary, as Mega Scizor can threaten Tangrowth with U-turn. Earthquake hits Heatran and other Steel-types like Magearna and Mega Metagross to weaken them for a partner to take advantage of. Other moves include Sludge Bomb, which can be useful to take care of Tapu Bulu and Tapu Koko and can also come in handy against opposing Tangrowth; the poison chance can weaken it, and Sludge Bomb can do significant damage if their own Assault Vest has already been removed with Knock Off. Rock Slide is an option that takes out Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona on the switch, but it is difficult to fit.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP and Special Defense investment and an Assault Vest allow Tangrowth to take advantage of its great defensive typing to better check the likes of Tapu Koko and Greninja. Regenerator is necessary, as it allows Tangrowth to switch out and recover one-third of its HP, negating a great amount of damage that it might take while in battle. A Sassy nature is used, since Tangrowth's Speed is very low, and it is best to boost Tangrowth's Special Defense without harming any of its damage output. However, a Relaxed nature still gives Tangrowth solid special bulk while allowing it to better take hits from physical attackers such as Zygarde and Garchomp.

Usage Tips
========

It is best to use Tangrowth's great bulk and wide set of resistances by switching it directly into the threats that it checks such as Tapu Koko, Keldeo, Manaphy, and Ash-Greninja; however, be careful when playing around Ash-Greninja, as it can put Tangrowth into a potential 2HKO range with either Ice Beam or Dark Pulse after Stealth Rock damage if Tangrowth is weakened. Due to Regenerator, Tangrowth can pivot into threats that can still hurt it and pivot back out to scout out what type of set the foe has. Knock Off in most cases is the safest move to throw out, as it can scout for items and potential Z-Crystals on the opposing team while weakening foes that rely on their items. Tangrowth can use its super effective coverage to weaken foes like Zygarde if it carries Hidden Power Ice and Ferrothorn if it has Hidden Power Fire. In most other cases, Giga Drain is relatively safe and allows Tangrowth to heal back even more health in conjunction with Regenerator to keep it as healthy as possible. However, be wary of foes that tend to run Knock Off, such as opposing Tangrowth, as they can severely limit Tangrowth's ability to check the threats that it needs to; for example, an itemless Tangrowth can get 2HKOed by non-transformed Greninja with Choice Specs Dark Pulse after Stealth Rock.

Team Options
========

This set is best on bulky offense and balance teams that require a strong pivotal check to Water-, Grass-, and Electric-type threats. Alolan Marowak is threatened by Water-types like Ash-Greninja and partners well with Tangrowth, as Alolan Marowak can perform as a wallbreaker to weaken threats for it, and Alolan Marowak can set up Stealth Rock as well. Toxapex can set up Toxic Spikes, and it also appreciates this set's ability to check Tapu Koko, Zygarde, Garchomp, and Extrasensory Greninja for it; Toxapex can also handle the Fire-type threats that Tangrowth has difficulty taking on itself and forms a Regenerator core with Tangrowth. Heatran is a very good partner for Tangrowth, as it is able to set up Stealth Rock to help Tangrowth wear down the opposing team easily. Heatran can also handle Steel- and Grass-types such as Celesteela and Mega Venusaur, as they take very little from Tangrowth's coverage options, and it appreciates Tangrowth's ability to check Ground-types like Zygarde for it, as Zygarde is forced to use Outrage against Tangrowth if it has the move, which Heatran can then switch into. Mega Scizor is a strong answer to Mega Metagross, which this set has difficulty with. Mega Scizor can even clear entry hazards with Defog, which is useful against threats like Spikes Greninja and Ash-Greninja that appreciate Spikes to take advantage of the constant switching that Tangrowth does. Ground-types like Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Garchomp also pair well with Tangrowth; they appreciate Tangrowth's ability to check Water-types for them and can even weaken Fire-types like Heatran, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Charizard Y. Entry hazard control is a good idea to run with Tangrowth, as it can get easily worn down by Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes, which, even with Regenerator, can cause trouble for Tangrowth when it switches into the threats that it checks. Zapdos is a good teammate, as it likes Tangrowth's ability to take care of various special attackers for it, and it can check the likes of Mega Pinsir for Tangrowth in return. Tapu Fini is also a good partner due to the great type synergy that it has with Tangrowth, and Tapu Fini can clear entry hazards.

move 4: Hidden Power Ice / Hidden Power Fire
item: Rocky Helmet
ability: Regenerator
nature: Relaxed
evs: 248 HP / 212 Def / 48 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Giga Drain is Tangrowth's STAB move that it can use to recover from the residual damage that it has taken to augment its Regenerator recovery. Knock Off provides great utility in allowing Tangrowth to cripple its checks by removing their items or potentially scouting for Z-Crystals. Sleep Powder allows Tangrowth to incapacitate a threat on the opponent's team, which is valuable to stop them from laying down entry hazards or setting up on it. Hidden Power Ice allows Tangrowth to hit Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Zygarde to prevent them from setting up on it. Hidden Power Fire provides great utility in hitting Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor, which resist Giga Drain and take very little from Knock Off. Earthquake can be used to hit Heatran, Magearna, and Mega Metagross super effectively, although Tangrowth gets better use from the coverage provided by a Hidden Power and its utility moves. Leech Seed is an alternative to Sleep Powder, and it allows Tangrowth to weaken foes by draining away their health.

Set Details
========

The HP and Special Defense EVs allow Tangrowth to survive two Zap Plate-boosted Thunderbolts from Tapu Koko at full HP; more Special Defense can be added to better handle Tapu Koko, although this comes at the cost of Tangrowth's physical bulk, which it needs to combat the likes of Mega Metagross. The Defense investment with a Relaxed nature also allows Tangrowth to avoid the 2HKO from Mega Metagross's Ice Punch after Stealth Rock damage, which is nice, given that this set is mainly meant to check it. Rocky Helmet is the preferred item to allow Tangrowth to better check the variety of physical attackers in the tier. Leftovers is usable over Rocky Helmet, but this makes Tangrowth less able to wear down opposing physical attackers, and the recovery provided by Regenerator is usually enough to sustain Tangrowth. Regenerator is the ability of choice in order to pivot in and out of physical attackers and regain health lost in the process.

Usage Tips
========

This Tangrowth set is primarily used to check numerous physical attackers in the tier such as Zygarde and Mega Metagross and should be used to switch directly into these threats. Due to this set's poor special bulk, switching into special attackers is not advised unless you are sure that Tangrowth can take the hit, such as against Zap Plate Tapu Koko, which does not 2HKO this set from full HP with Thunderbolt. Sleep Powder should be used on a predicted switch into a threat that you wish to incapacitate; this can also be taken advantage of by predicting the threat that the opponent wishes to use as sleep fodder by using Knock Off or switching into a teammate that can take advantage of the designated sleep fodder. Tangrowth can make use of its super effective coverage to damage its foes, but most of the time, Giga Drain and Knock Off are relatively safe moves to throw out, especially since Knock Off can let Tangrowth scout for items and pivot more easily.

Team Options
========

This set appreciates teammates that can deal with the strong special attackers in the tier that it cannot check due to the lack of special bulk. Toxapex is a good example, as it handles non-Extrasensory Greninja and Ash-Greninja; Toxapex also provides Toxic Spikes support and can even deal with Heatran. Celesteela can deal with a number of special attackers like Tapu Lele and Greninja, and it appreciates Tangrowth's ability to check Zygarde for it, which can deal great damage to Celesteela with a Choice Band or Dragon Dance set. Heatran can set up Stealth Rock for Tangrowth and can also check opposing Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss, which can serve as great threats to Tangrowth. Tornadus-T can serve as another great partner, as it can check special attackers with its own Assault Vest set while Tangrowth checks the physical attackers that check Assault Vest Tornadus-T like Mega Metagross, and the two form a Regenerator core, which allows them to pivot between each other with ease. Entry hazard removers are good teammates to make sure that Tangrowth is not put into 2HKO range by the attackers that it checks in addition to damage that is not healed off completely by Regenerator; Zapdos is a great example, as it can also check Mega Pinsir and Supersonic Skystrike Celesteela, two big threats to Tangrowth.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Toxic lets Tangrowth wear down a variety of its checks better on the physically defensive set; this is best paired with Hidden Power Fire to deter Steel-types like Ferrothorn from switching in on Toxic. Focus Blast has good coverage and allows Tangrowth to hit Ferrothorn and Heatran in one slot, but the low accuracy and PP of the move may make this less desirable than its other moves.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Mega Venusaur**: The strongest counter to Tangrowth, Mega Venusaur takes very little damage from all of Tangrowth's coverage options, STAB moves, and Knock Off and in return can take out Tangrowth with a STAB Sludge Bomb.

**Flying-types**: Tornadus-T, Mega Pinsir, and Celesteela all have the ability to break past Tangrowth due to their super effective STAB moves and do not really fear either set; Tornadus-T can use Hurricane, Mega Pinsir threatens both sets with Aerilate-boosted Returns, and Supersonic Skystrike Celesteela can break past both Tangrowth sets with ease.

**Fire-types**: Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Heatran resist Tangrowth's Grass-type STAB moves and threaten it with super effective Fire-type STAB moves of their own; Heatran must watch out for Earthquake, and Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona must watch out for Rock Slide, however.

**Steel-types**: Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, Heatran, and Celesteela must all watch out for the appropriate coverage move such as Hidden Power Fire or Earthquake, but otherwise, they do not fear Tangrowth much and can lay down entry hazards, and in Mega Scizor's case, set up and remove entry hazards, if Tangrowth lacks Hidden Power Fire.

* Can perform as a great wall on both sides of the spectrum, peforming as a great physically defensive tank with its Rocky Helmet set to deal with Mega Metagross, or handles special attackers like Ash-Greninja.
Mention that Assault Vest is a must to take on things like Ash-Greninja (so Rocky Helmet deals with Metagross and Assault Vest deals with Ash-Gren).
* Despite its general lack of power, it has great utility moves in Sleep Powder and Knock Off, while making use of its coverage moves such as Earthquake for Heatran, Hidden Power Ice for Zygarde and Landorus-Therian, and Hidden Power Fire for Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor.
Sleep Powder definitely is a strength, but if you're going to mention it I feel it should be mentioned later in comparison to the other moves since it is only available for one set.

In Team Options I would mention how Tangrowth is a very solid Ground-type check. Being one of the few semi-consistent answers to Zygarde is pretty huge since it forces it to Outrage or Devastating Drake. It's good to mention that it checks Electric- and Water-types, but Ground-types are massive for this thing too.

I'm a little surprised about how Heatran wasn't mentioned in the first set. Heatran and Tangrowth are pretty nice together since Tangrowth is a magnet to Fire-type moves and Tangrowth can stomach Ground-types pretty well. Hell Heatran can actually body some Volcaronas and Zard Xs while Heatran almost denies anything Zygarde has and some of the offensive Water-types that can plague Heatran (well, Protean Gren is kind of hard).

Everything else looks really good honestly.

It is best to use Tangrowth's great bulk and wide set of resistances into account by switching it directly into the threats that it checks such as Tapu Koko, Keldeo, Manaphy, and Ash-Greninja.
Make sure to note that Ash Greninja can be a bit shaky to switch into, because if Tangrowth has taken even just a small amount of prior damage, it's easily put into range of Dark Pulse after SR, so switching Tangrowth directly into it frequently is probably not very optimal.

Other than that, looks great man. CM covered pretty much everything. Great job.

Yeah I'm making sure to mention that along with Ice Beam given that it's been gaining some more usage too, thanks man

Drop the Leaf Storm slash. It's not a bad move or anything, but its main purpose of OHKOing Manaphy isn't nearly as important as it once was and the consistency of Giga Drain is hard to give up. A Relaxed nature should be mentioned in set details on the AV set just because it's nice to have an extra buffer against Zygarde, Landorus-T, etc and the drop isn't too crucial depending on your team's structure.

I don't agree on the point about using Tangrowth to pivot into Greninja unless you know it's Ash-Greninja already, because switching into most moves and taking Gunk Shot after usually means you have a heavily damaged Tangrowth on your hands (or even worse it's taken out), especially if rocks and spikes are up and need Tangrowth to check other threats the opponent may have; just remove that point. Of course make sure to remove that it checks Greninja in the overview as well.

Add in Volcarona to the Fire-types section in checks and counters

Looks good besides that, nice job 3/3

Team Options

This set is best on bulky offense and balance teams that require a strong check to Water-, Grass-, and Electric-type threats with great pivoting ability; Alolan Marowak is threatened by Water-types like Ash-Greninja and partners well with Tangrowth, (AC) as Alolan Marowak can wallbreak and weaken threats for it; (RSC) . (AP) Alolan Marowak can even set up Stealth Rock, (AC) which takes advantage of the switches that it forces. Toxapex can set up Toxic Spikes, (RC) and also appreciates this set checking Extrasensory Greninja, Zygarde, Garchomp, and Tapu Koko for it; Toxapex can also handle Fighting- and Fire-type threats that Tangrowth has difficulty taking on itself and forms a dual-Regenerator core with Tangrowth. Heatran is a very good partner to Tangrowth, being able to set up Stealth Rock to help Tangrowth wear down the opposing team easily; Heatran can handle Steel-types such as Celesteela and opposing Grass-types like Mega Venusaur, while it appreciates Tangrowth checking Ground-types like Zygarde for it, as Zygarde is forced to use Outrage against Tangrowth if it has it. Mega Scizor is a strong answer to Mega Metagross, as this set has difficulty handling it in comparison to a physically defensive set. It can even Defog away entry hazards, which is useful against threats like Spikes Greninja or and Ash-Greninja, (AC) which appreciate Spikes to take advantage of the constant switching that Tangrowth does. Ground-types like Zygarde, Landorus-Therian, and Garchomp pair well with Tangrowth; they like Tangrowth checking Water-types for it, (RC) and can even weaken Fire-types like Heatran, Mega Charizard-(RH)Y, and Mega Charizard-(RH)X. Moves

Giga Drain is Tangrowth's STAB move which it can use to heal back residual damage it Tangrowth has taken on top of Regenerator recovery. Knock Off provides great utility in softening up its checks by removing their items or potentially scouting for Z-crystals. Sleep Powder allows Tangrowth to incapacitate a threat on the opponent'(apostrophe)s team, which is valuable so they its teammates can set up entry hazards or setup set up moves on the foe it. Hidden Power Ice allows Tangrowth to hit Garchomp, Landorus-Therian, and Zygarde to prevent them from setting up on it. Hidden Power Fire provides great utility in hitting Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor, (AC) which resist Giga Drain and take very little from Knock Off. Earthquake hits Heatran, Magearna, and Mega Metagross super effectively, although it Tangrowth makes better use from the coverage provided by a Hidden Power or its utility moves. Leech Seed allows Tangrowth to weaken opponents foes by draining away their health, (RC) and is best used in place of Sleep Powder if it is not necesary necessary for the team.

Set Details
========

The given HP and Special Defense EVs allow Tangrowth to survive two Zap Plate-boosted Thunderbolts from Tapu Koko at full; more Special Defense investment can be added to better handle Tapu Koko, although this comes at the cost of Tangrowth's physical bulk, which it needs to combat the likes of Mega Metagross. The Defense investment with a Relaxed nature also allows Tangrowth to avoid the 2HKO from Mega Metagross's Ice Punch after Stealth Rock damage, which is nice given that this Tangrowth set is mainly meant to check Mega Metagross Tangrowth (typo?). Rocky Helmet is the preferred item so that Tangrowth can better check the variety of physical attackers in the tier, most notably Mega Metagross. Leftovers is usable over Rocky Helmet, although this makes you Tangrowth less able to wear down opposing physical attackers, and the recovery provided by Regenerator is usually enough to sustain Tangrowth. This Tangrowth set is primarily used to check numerous physical attackers in the tier such as Zygarde and Mega Metagross, (RC) and should be primarily used to switch directly into these threats. (find that a tad redundant, since checking involves switching into the threat, so you're kind of repeating yourself) Due to this set's poor special bulk, switching into special attackers is not advised unless you are sure that Tangrowth can take the hit, such as against Zap Plate Tapu Koko, which does not 2HKO this set from full with Thunderbolt. Sleep Powder should be used on a predicted switch into a threat that you wish to incapacitate; this can also be taken advantage of by predicting the threat the opponent wishes to use as sleep fodder by Knocking Off its item or switching into a teammate which that can take advantage of the designated sleep fodder. Tangrowth can make use of its super-(RH)effective coverage to damage its foes opponents, but most of the time, (AC) Giga Drain or and Knock Off are relatively safe moves to throw out, especially since Knock Off can let you scout for items and pivot more easily.

(AP) Toxapex also provides Toxic Spikes support and can even deal with Heatran. Celesteela can deal with a number of special attackers like Tapu Lele and Greninja; it appreciates Tangrowth checking Zygarde for it, which can deal great damage to Celesteela with a Choice Band or Dragon Dance set. Heatran can set up Stealth Rock for Tangrowth, (RC) and can also check opposing Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss, (AC) which can serve as great threats to Tangrowth. Tornadus-Therian can serve as a great partner for Tangrowth, as it can check special attackers with its own Assault Vest set, (RC) and forms a dual Regenerator core which that allows the two to pivot between each other with ease; this Tangrowth set checks the physical attackers that check Assault Vest Tornadus-Therian like Mega Metagross. Entry hazard removers work are helpful to prevent so that Tangrowth is not put from getting into 2HKO range by attackers that it checks, (AC) such as like Mega Metagross, (AC) in addition to damage it has not healed off completely by Regenerator; Zapdos is a great partner, as it can also check Mega Pinsir and Supersonic Skystrike Celesteela, two big threats to this Tangrowth set.

Toxic lets Tangrowth wear down a variety of its checks better on the physically defensive set; this is best paired with Hidden Power Fire to deter Steel-types like Ferrothorn from switching in on Toxic. Focus Blast has good all-(AH)around coverage in allowing Tangrowth to hit Ferrothorn and Heatran in one slot, although the accuracy and low PP of the move may make this less desirable than its other moves.

**Flying-types**: Tornadus-Therian, Mega Pinsir, and Celesteela all have the ability to break past Tangrowth due to their super-(RH)effective STAB moves and do not really fear either set; Tornadus-Therian can use Hurricane, Mega Pinsir threatens both sets with Aerilate-boosted Returns, and Supersonic Skystrike Celesteela can break past both Tangrowth sets with ease.

**Fire-types**: Mega Charizard Y, Mega Charizard X, Volcarona, and Heatran resist Tangrowth's Grass-type STAB moves and threaten it with super-(RH)effective Fire-type STAB moves of their own; Heatran must watch out for Earthquake, and Mega Charizard must watch out for Rock Slide, however.

**Steel-types**: Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, Heatran, and Celesteela must all watch out for the appropriate coverage move such as Hidden Power Fire or Earthquake, but otherwise they do not fear Tangrowth much and can set up entry hazards or Swords Dance and Defog in the case of Mega Scizor if Tangrowth lacks Hidden Power Fire. However, they must all watch out for the appropriate coverage move such as Hidden Power Fire or Earthquake. (better to say how they check tangrowth first)

**Mega Venusaur**: The strongest counter to Tangrowth; (RSC) , (AC) Mega Venusaur takes very little damage from all of Tangrowth's coverage options, STAB moves, and Knock Off; Mega Venusaur in return can take out Tangrowth with a STAB Sludge Bomb.

Although However, Tangrowth is relatively passive and relies on its super-effective coverage to be much of a threat, and the Assault Vest set is prone to Knock Off(AC) which means that it has and so will have a much harder time switching into the threats that it needs to check if it loses its Assault Vest (The original structure seemed to imply that the Assault Vest set had a harder time switching in in general, not just without its vest.). Overall, Tangrowth has a lot of great qualities making it one of the best defensive pivots that the metagame has to offer. (This last sentence might not be necessary.)

Giga Drain is a reliable STAB move for Tangrowth, allowing it to combat Water-types that it is it's meant for checking to check. Leaf Storm is a more damaging alternative, which notable OHKO's notably OHKOes Manaphy after Stealth Rock damage, which is useful if Tangrowth's team is weak to it; this comes with the drawback of dropping its Special Attack, which can force out Tangrowth in situations where it might want to stay in. (This move isn't slashed per Hootie's request, so I'd suggest moving this sentence to Other Options.) Knock Off is Tangrowth's most useful utility move that it can run on this set, removing items and weakening opponents for its teammates to take advantage of. Hidden Power Ice allows Tangrowth to weaken Zygarde, and allows it to more quickly weaken Landorus-Therian(AC) and Garchomp, which can otherwise set up on Tangrowth if it lacks Hidden Power Ice. Hidden Power Fire is mainly to hit Ferrothorn(AC) which takes the rest of Tangrowth's moves with ease,(RC)(AP) and It also hits Mega Scizor, but be wary, as Mega Scizor can threaten Tangrowth with U-turn. Earthquake hits Heatran and other Steel-types like Magearna and Mega Metagross to weaken them for a partner to take advantage of. Other moves include Sludge Bomb, which can be useful to take care of Tapu Bulu or Tapu Koko, but and also can come in handy against opposing Tangrowth; the poison chance can weaken it(AC) in addition to potentially Knocking Off its own Assault Vest and Sludge Bomb can do significant damage if their own Assault Vest has already been Knocked Off (Sludge Bomb doesn't Knock Off the vest.). Rock Slide is an option which takes out Mega Charizard and Volcarona on the switch, although but it is difficult to fit. (This was QC'd without Sludge Bomb or Rock Slide slashed, so I'd move these to Other Options too.)

Set Details
========

Maximum HP and Special Defense investment with and an Assault Vest allow Tangrowth to take make the best advantage of its great defensive typing to better check the likes of Tapu Koko and Greninja. Regenerator is the necessary(AC) ability of choice which as it allows Tangrowth to switch out and recover one-third of its HP, negating a great amount of damage that it took while out in battle. A Sassy nature is used since Tangrowth's Speed is very low, and it is best to power up both its special attacks as well as Knock Off and Earthquake for additional damage. However, a Relaxed nature still gives Tangrowth solid special bulk while allowing it to better take hits better from physical attackers such as Zygarde and Garchomp.

Usage Tips
========

*(What's this asterisk doing here?) It is best to use Tangrowth's great bulk and wide set of resistances into account by switching it directly into the threats that it checks such as Tapu Koko, Keldeo, Manaphy, and Ash-Greninja; although however, be careful with when playing around Ash-Greninja(AC) as it can put Tangrowth into a potential 2HKO range with either Ice Beam or Dark Pulse after Stealth Rock damage if Tangrowth is weakened previously. Due to Regenerator, it can pivot into threats that can still hurt Tangrowth and pivot back out to scout out what type of set the opponent is running. Knock Off in most cases is the safest move to throw out, as it can scout for items and potential Z-crystals on the opposing team, while weakening opponents who rely on their items. Tangrowth can use its super-effective coverage to weaken opponents like Zygarde if it carries Hidden Power Ice, or Ferrothorn if it has Hidden Power Fire. In most other cases, Giga Drain is relatively safe and allows Tangrowth to heal back even more health in conjunction with Regenerator to keep it as healthy as possible. However, be careful of opponents which carry Knock Off, such as opposing Tangrowth, as this can severely limit Tangrowth's ability to check the threats that it needs to check; for example, Knocked Off an itemless ("Knocked Off" isn't a condition.) Tangrowth can get 2HKO'd 2HKOed by non-transformed Ash-Greninja with Choice Specs Dark Pulse after Stealth Rock.

Team Options
========

This set is best on bulky offense and balance teams that require a strong check to Water-, Grass-, and Electric-type threats with that has a (This makes it clearer that the check is the pivot, not the threats it's meant to check.) great pivoting ability;(RS)(AP) Alolan Marowak is threatened by Water-types like Ash-Greninja and partners well with Tangrowth as Alolan Marowak can wallbreak and weaken threats for it; Alolan Marowak can even set up Stealth Rock which takes advantage of the switches that it Tangrowth forces (If Tangrowth isn't the one you mean is forcing the switches, then omit this clause entirely; this is about Tangrowth, not Alolan Marowak.). Toxapex can set up Toxic Spikes (Again, this is about Tangrowth. Either explain how this is beneficial to Tangrowth specifically by somehow tying this into the previous mention of Tangrowth forcing switches, or don't mention Toxic Spikes at all.), and also appreciates this set checking Extrasensory Greninja Tapu Koko, Zygarde, Garchomp, and Tapu Koko Extrasensory Greninja (Whenever I read lists like this, I always get confused thinking that they all have Extrasensory.) for it; Toxapex can also handle Fighting- (You don't mention Fighting-types at all anywhere else in this analysis. I strongly recommend either adding something about them to Checks and Counters, or at least giving an example of one here.) and Fire-type threats that Tangrowth has difficulty taking on itself and forms a dual-Regenerator core with Tangrowth. Heatran is a very good partner to Tangrowth, being able to set up Stealth Rock to help Tangrowth wear down the opposing team easily;(RS)(AP) Heatran can also handle Steel-types such as Celesteela and opposing Grass-types like Mega Venusaur (I suggest explaining why these are a threat to Tangrowth, as you haven't mentioned Grass- or Steel-types yet.), while it and appreciates Tangrowth checking Ground-types like Zygarde for it, as Zygarde is forced to use Outrage against Tangrowth if it has carrying it(AC) which Heatran can then switch into. Mega Scizor is a strong answer to Mega Metagross, as which this set has difficulty handling it in comparison to a physically defensive set. It Mega Scizor can even Defog away hazards, which is useful against threats like Spikes Greninja or Ash-Greninja which appreciate spikes to take advantage of the constant switching that Tangrowth does. Ground-types like Zygarde, Landorus-Therian, and Garchomp also pair well with Tangrowth; they like appreciate Tangrowth checking Water-types for it, and can even weaken Fire-types like Heatran, Mega Charizard-Y, and Mega Charizard-X. Hazard control is a good idea to run with Tangrowth, as it can get easily worn down from by Stealth Rock, Spikes from the likes of Greninja, or and Toxic Spikes from Toxapex (These hazards have more than one setter each, and you've already mentioned that Greninja sets Spikes.) which, even with Regenerator, can cause more (More than what?) trouble for Tangrowth in switching when it switches into the threats that it checks;(RS)(AP) Zapdos is a good example, as it likes Tangrowth checking various special attackers for it, while it can check the likes of Mega Pinsir for Tangrowth in return. Tapu Fini is also a good partner due to their great type synergy and ability for Tapu Fini Fini's ability to Defog hazards away for Tangrowth.

Moves
========

Giga Drain is Tangrowth's STAB move which it can use to heal back residual damage it has taken(AC) on top of to augment its Regenerator recovery. Knock Off provides great utility in softening up its Tangrowth's checks by removing their items or potentially scouting for Z-crystals Z-Crystals. Sleep Powder allows Tangrowth to incapacitate a threat on the opponents team, which is valuable so they can set up to stop them from laying down hazards or setup moves on it (You aren't putting them to sleep so they can set up on you, and it's a bit confusing to talk about setting hazards and setting up in general in the same sentence.). Hidden Power Ice allows Tangrowth to hit Garchomp, Landorus-Therian, and Zygarde to prevent them from setting up on it. Hidden Power Fire provides great utility in hitting Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor which resist Giga Drain and take very little from Knock Off. Earthquake hits Heatran, Magearna, and Mega Metagross super effectively, although it makes gets better use from the coverage provided by a Hidden Power or its utility moves (Either slash Earthquake in with the Hidden Powers or move this sentence to Other Options, specifically mentioning that it's an option on the Physically Defensive Set.). Leech Seed is an alternative to Sleep powder, and allows Tangrowth to weaken opponents by draining away their health,(RC) and is best used in place of Sleep Powder if it is not necesary for the team (This clears up potential ambiguity about what you mean to say might not necessary).

Set Details
========

The given HP and Special Defense EVs allow Tangrowth to survive two Zap Plate-boosted Thunderbolts from Tapu Koko at full HP; more Special Defense can be added to better handle Tapu Koko, although but (Use "but" as a conjunction, and "although" at the start of a clause, being careful to know when "however" is more appropriate.) this comes at the cost of Tangrowth's physical bulk, which it needs to combat the likes of Mega Metagross. The Defense investment with a Relaxed nature also allows Tangrowth to avoid the 2HKO from Mega Metagross Ice Punch after Stealth Rock damage, which is nice given that this Tangrowth set is mainly meant to check Tangrowth Mega Metagross (Right?). Rocky Helmet is the preferred item so that Tangrowth can better check the variety of physical attackers in the tier,(RC) most notably Mega Metagross (You've mentioned Mega Metagross several times already.). Leftovers is usable over Rocky Helmet, although but this makes you less able to wear down opposing physical attackers, and the recovery provided by Regenerator is usually enough to sustain Tangrowth. Regenerator is the ability of choice in order to pivot in and out of physical attackers and regain health lost in the process.

Usage Tips
========

This Tangrowth set is primarily used to check numerous physical attackers in the tier such as Zygarde and Mega Metagross, and should be primarily (Avoid repeating the same word or phrase where possible.) used to switch directly into these threats. Due to this set's poor special bulk, switching into special attackers is not advised unless you are sure that Tangrowth can take the hit, such as against Zap Plate Tapu Koko, which does not 2HKO this set from full HP with Thunderbolt. Sleep Powder should be used on a predicted switch into a threat that you wish to incapacitate; this can also be taken advantage of by predicting the threat the opponent wishes to use as sleep fodder by Knocking using Knock Off or switching into a teammate which can take advantage of the designated sleep fodder. Tangrowth can make use of its super-effective coverage to damage its opponents, but most of the time Giga Drain or Knock Off are relatively safe moves to throw out, especially since Knock Off can let you scout for items and pivot more easily.

Team Options
========

This set appreciates teammates that can deal with the strong special attackers in the tier that this set cannot check due to the lack of special bulk;(RS)(AP) Toxapex is a good example, as it handles non-Extrasensory Greninja not running Extrasensory,(RC) and Ash-Greninja; Toxapex also provides Toxic Spikes support and can even deal with Heatran. Celesteela can deal with a number of special attackers like Tapu Lele and Greninja;(RS)(AC) and it appreciates Tangrowth checking Zygarde for it, which can deal great damage to Celesteela with a Choice Band or Dragon Dance set. Heatran can set up Stealth Rock for Tangrowth, and can also check opposing Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss which can serve as great threats to Tangrowth. Tornadus-Therian can serve as a another great partner for Tangrowth (This avoids repeating "Tangrowth" over and over.), as it can check special attackers with its own Assault Vest set, and forms a dual Regenerator core which allows the two to pivot between each other with ease; while this Tangrowth set checks the physical attackers that check Assault Vest Tornadus-Therian like Mega Metagross(AC) and the two form a dual Regenerator core which allows the two to pivot between each other with ease (This is a more logical sentence structure; "A helps B, B helps A, and A + B does this," makes more sense than "A helps B, A + B do this, and B helps A."). Hazard removers work so that Tangrowth is not put into 2HKO range by the attackers that it checks like Mega Metagross in addition to damage it has not healed off completely by Regenerator; Zapdos is a great partner example (This makes it clear that Zapdos is a choice for a Defogger.), as it can also check Mega Pinsir and Supersonic Skystrike Celesteela, two big threats to this Tangrowth set (If the physically defensive set can't handle those two, then no set can.).

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Toxic lets Tangrowth wear down a variety of its checks better on the Physically Defensive set; this is best paired with Hidden Power Fire to deter Steel-types like Ferrothorn from switching in on Toxic. Focus Blast has good all around coverage in allowing Tangrowth to hit Ferrothorn and Heatran in one slot, although but the accuracy and low PP of the move may make this less desirable than its other moves.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying-types**: Tornadus-Therian, Mega Pinsir, and Celesteela all have the ability to break past Tangrowth due to their super-effective STAB moves and do not really fear either set; Tornadus-Therian can use Hurricane, Mega Pinsir threatens both sets with Aerilate-boosted Returns, and Supersonic Skystrike Celesteela can break past both Tangrowth sets with ease.

**Fire-types**: Mega Charizard Y, Mega Charizard X, Volcarona, and Heatran resist Tangrowth's Grass STAB and threaten it with super-effective Fire-type STAB of their own; Heatran must watch out for Earthquake, and Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona must watch out for Rock Slide, however.

**Steel-types**: Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, Heatran, and Celesteela must all watch out for the appropriate coverage move such as Hidden Power Fire or Earthquake, but otherwise they do not fear Tangrowth much and can set up hazards(AC) or Swords Dance and Defog in the case of Mega Scizor if Tangrowth lacks Hidden Power Fire (Celesteela doesn't set hazards or use Swords Dance or Defog, so consider giving special mention to what it might do as well.).

**Mega Venusaur**: The strongest counter to Tangrowth;(RS)(AC) Mega Venusaur takes very little damage from all of Tangrowth's coverage options, STAB moves, and Knock Off;(AC) Mega Venusaur and in return can take out Tangrowth with a STAB Sludge Bomb.

RIP in sniped, but I did the first half of this last night so I'm posting it anyway. I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

[OVERVIEW]

Tangrowth performs as is one of the best pivots in the OU metagame with its great defensive typing in mono-Grass Grass, (AC) which allows it to check a number of threats in the metagame such as Ash-Greninja, Zygarde, and Tapu Koko. It can perform as a great wall on both sides of the spectrum both physically with its Rocky Helmet set to deal with Pokemon like Mega Metagross, as well as specially with an Assault Vest, which is required for surviving hits from Pokemon like Ash-Greninja, peforming either (Avoid reusing words where possible.) as a specially defensive pivot with (Feel free to change "pivot" to something else if that's not the proper word; I'm just filling out the sentence to fit the rearrangement.) as a great physically defensive tank with its Rocky Helmet set to deal with Mega Metagross, or an Assault Vest(AC) set which is necessary to check special attackers like Ash-Greninja(AC) or as a great physically defensive tank with its Rocky Helmet set to deal with Mega Metagross (List the sets in the order they appear in the analysis.) ("both sides of the spectrum" shouldn't be used, as Defense and Special Defense are easily identifiable stats, and there's nothing between them). It Tangrowth is able to perform fill (repetition) these roles well due to Regenerator, which is Tangrowth's it's its main boon, allowing which allows it to heal off passive damage while switching, retaining momentum for its teammates so that it can while still being able to (Retaining momentum doesn't help it repeatedly switch in, it's just a parallel benefit.) repeatedly switch into the threats that it needs to check. Despite its general lack of power, it Tangrowth (overuse of the pronoun "it") has great utility moves such as Knock Off, while making use of its and coverage moves such as Earthquake for Heatran, Hidden Power Ice for Zygarde and Landorus-Therian, and Hidden Power Fire for Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor. Overall, Tangrowth has a lot of great qualities making it one of the best defensive pivots that the metagame has to offer. (This last sentence might not be necessary.) Giga Drain is Tangrowth's STAB move, (AC) which it can use to heal back recover from the residual damage that it has taken(AC) on top of to augment its Regenerator recovery. Knock Off provides great utility in allowing Tangrowth to cripple softening up its Tangrowth's checks by removing their items or potentially scouting for Z-crystals Z-Crystals. Sleep Powder allows Tangrowth to incapacitate a threat on the opponent's (Add Apostrophe) team, which is valuable so they can set up to stop them from laying down entry hazards or setup moves setting up on it (You aren't putting them to sleep so they can set up on you, and it's a bit confusing to talk about setting hazards and setting up in general in the same sentence.). Earthquake hits can be used to hit Heatran, Magearna, and Mega Metagross super effectively, although it Tangrowth makes gets better use from the coverage provided by a Hidden Power or and its utility moves (Either slash Earthquake in with the Hidden Powers or move this sentence to Other Options, specifically mentioning that it's an option on the Physically Defensive Set.). Leech Seed is an alternative to Sleep powder, and it allows Tangrowth to weaken opponents foes by draining away their health,(RC) and is best used in place of Sleep Powder if it is not necesary for the team (This clears up potential ambiguity about what you mean to say might not necessary).

Set Details
========

The Defense investment with a Relaxed nature also allows Tangrowth to avoid the 2HKO from Mega Metagross Metagross's Ice Punch after Stealth Rock damage, which is nice, (AC) given that this Tangrowth set is mainly meant to check Tangrowth Mega Metagross (Right?). Rocky Helmet is the preferred item so that to allow Tangrowth can to better check the variety of physical attackers in the tier, most notably Mega Metagross (You've mentioned Mega Metagross several times already.). Leftovers is usable over Rocky Helmet, although but this makes you Tangrowth less able to wear down opposing physical attackers, and the recovery provided by Regenerator is usually enough to sustain Tangrowth. Regenerator is the ability of choice in order to pivot in and out of physical attackers and regain health lost in the process.

Usage Tips
========

Sleep Powder should be used on a predicted switch into a threat that you wish to incapacitate; this can also be taken advantage of by predicting the threat that the opponent wishes to use as sleep fodder by Knocking using Knock Off or switching into a teammate which that can take advantage of the designated sleep fodder. Tangrowth can make use of its super effective (RH) coverage to damage its opponents foes, but most of the time, (AC) Giga Drain or and Knock Off are relatively safe moves to throw out, especially since Knock Off can let you scout for items and pivot more easily.

Team Options
========

This set appreciates teammates that can deal with the strong special attackers in the tier that this set cannot check due to the lack of special bulk;(RS). (AP) Toxapex is a good example, as it handles non-Extrasensory Greninja not running Extrasensory,(RC) and Ash-Greninja; Toxapex also provides Toxic Spikes support and can even deal with Heatran. Celesteela can deal with a number of special attackers like Tapu Lele and Greninja;(RS), (AC) and it appreciates Tangrowth checking Tangrowth's ability to check Zygarde for it, which can deal great damage to Celesteela with a Choice Band or Dragon Dance set. Heatran can set up Stealth Rock for Tangrowth, (RC) and can also check opposing Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss, (AC) which can serve as great threats to Tangrowth. Tornadus-Therian can serve as a another great partner for Tangrowth (This avoids repeating "Tangrowth" over and over.), as it can check special attackers with its own Assault Vest set, (RC) and forms a dual Regenerator core which allows the two to pivot between each other with ease; while this Tangrowth set checks the physical attackers that check Assault Vest Tornadus-Therian like Mega Metagross(AC) and the two form a Regenerator core, which allows them to pivot between each other with ease (This is a more logical sentence structure; "A helps B, B helps A, and A + B does this," makes more sense than "A helps B, A + B do this, and B helps A."). Entry hazard removers are good teammates because they clear entry hazards to make sure work so that Tangrowth is not put into 2HKO range by the attackers that it checks like Mega Metagross in addition to damage it has that is not healed off completely by Regenerator; Zapdos is a great partner example (This makes it clear that Zapdos is a choice for a Defogger.), as it can also check Mega Pinsir and Supersonic Skystrike Celesteela, two big threats to this Tangrowth set (If the physically defensive set can't handle those two, then no set can.).

Toxic lets Tangrowth wear down a variety of its checks better on the physically defensive set; this is best paired with Hidden Power Fire to deter Steel-types like Ferrothorn from switching in on Toxic. Focus Blast has good all around coverage in allowing and allows Tangrowth to hit Ferrothorn and Heatran in one slot, although but the accuracy and low PP of the move may make this less desirable than its other moves.

**Flying-types**: Tornadus-Therian, Mega Pinsir, and Celesteela all have the ability to break past Tangrowth due to their super effective (RH) STAB moves and do not really fear either set; Tornadus-Therian can use Hurricane, Mega Pinsir threatens both sets with Aerilate-boosted Returns, and Supersonic Skystrike Celesteela can break past both Tangrowth sets with ease.

**Fire-types**: Mega Charizard Y X, Mega Charizard X Y, Volcarona, and Heatran resist Tangrowth's Grass-type STAB moves and threaten it with super effective (RH) Fire-type STAB moves of their own; Heatran must watch out for Earthquake, and Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona must watch out for Rock Slide, however.

**Steel-types**: Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, Heatran, and Celesteela must all watch out for the appropriate coverage move such as Hidden Power Fire or Earthquake, but otherwise, (AC) they do not fear Tangrowth much and can set up lay down entry hazards, (AC) and in Mega Scizor's case, set up and remove entry hazards, if Tangrowth lacks Hidden Power Fire or Swords Dance and Defog in the case of Mega Scizor if Tangrowth lacks Hidden Power Fire (Celesteela doesn't set hazards or use Swords Dance or Defog, so consider giving special mention to what it might do as well.).

**Mega Venusaur**: The strongest counter to Tangrowth;(RS), (AC) Mega Venusaur takes very little damage from all of Tangrowth's coverage options, STAB moves, and Knock Off; Mega Venusaur and in return can take out Tangrowth with a STAB Sludge Bomb.

[OVERVIEW]

Tangrowth performs as is one of the best pivots in the OU metagame with its great defensive typing in mono-Grass Grass, (AC) which allows it to check a number of threats in the metagame such as Ash-Greninja, Zygarde, and Tapu Koko. It can perform as a great wall on both sides of the spectrum both physically with its Rocky Helmet set to deal with Pokemon like Mega Metagross, as well as specially with an Assault Vest, which is required for surviving hits from Pokemon like Ash-Greninja ("both sides of the spectrum" shouldn't be used, as Defense and Special Defense are easily identifiable stats, and there's nothing between them). It Tangrowth is able to perform fill (repetition) these roles well due to Regenerator, allowing it to heal off passive damage while switching, retaining momentum for its teammates so that it can while still being able to (Retaining momentum doesn't help it repeatedly switch in, it's just a parallel benefit.) repeatedly switch into the threats that it needs to check. Although However, Tangrowth is relatively passive and relies on its super effective (RH) coverage to be much of a threat, and the Assault Vest set is prone to Knock Off, (AC) which means that it has and so will have a much harder time switching into the threats that it needs to check if it loses its Assault Vest (The original structure seemed to imply that the Assault Vest set had a harder time switching in in general, not just without its vest.). Overall, Tangrowth has a lot of great qualities making it one of the best defensive pivots that the metagame has to offer. (conclusion sentences are normally just considered fluff due to them just being summaries of everything already described)

Moves
========

Giga Drain is a reliable STAB move for Tangrowth, allowing it that allows Tangrowth to combat the Water-types that it is meant for checking to check. Leaf Storm is a more damaging alternative, (RC) which notable OHKO's that notably OHKOes Manaphy after Stealth Rock damage, which is useful if Tangrowth's team is weak to it; this comes with the drawback of dropping its Special Attack, which can force Tangrowth out Tangrowth in situations where it might want to stay in. Knock Off is Tangrowth's most useful utility move that it can run on this set, removing items and weakening opponents foes (opponent = the player you are fighting, foe = the opposing Pokemon) for its teammates to take advantage of. Hidden Power Ice allows Tangrowth to weaken Zygarde, and allows it to more quickly weaken Landorus-Therian, (AC) and Garchomp, which can otherwise set up on Tangrowth if it lacks Hidden Power Ice. Hidden Power Fire is mainly used to hit Ferrothorn(AC) which takes the rest of Tangrowth's moves with ease, and it also hits Mega Scizor; (ASC) however, but be wary, as Mega Scizor can threaten Tangrowth with U-turn. Earthquake hits Heatran and other Steel-types like Magearna and Mega Metagross to weaken them for a partner to take advantage of. Other moves include Sludge Bomb, which can be useful to take care of Tapu Bulu or and Tapu Koko, but and also can also come in handy against opposing Tangrowth; the poison chance can weaken it, (AC) in addition to potentially Knocking Off its own Assault Vest and Sludge Bomb can do significant damage if their own Assault Vest has already been removed with Knock Off (we typically try to avoid using moves as verbs). Rock Slide is an option which that takes out Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona on the switch, although but it is difficult to fit.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP and Special Defense investment with and an Assault Vest allow Tangrowth to take the best advantage of its great defensive typing to better check the likes of Tapu Koko and Greninja. Regenerator is the necessary, (AC) ability of choice which as it allows Tangrowth to switch out and recover one-third of its HP, negating a great amount of damage that it took might take while out in battle. A Sassy nature is used, (AC) since Tangrowth's Speed is very low, and it is best to boost Tangrowth's Special Defense without harming any of its damage output power up both its special attacks as well as Knock Off and Earthquake for additional damage (more accurate). However, a Relaxed nature still gives Tangrowth solid special bulk while allowing it to better take hits better from physical attackers such as Zygarde and Garchomp.

Usage Tips
========

It is best to use Tangrowth's great bulk and wide set of resistances into account by switching it directly into the threats that it checks such as Tapu Koko, Keldeo, Manaphy, and Ash-Greninja; although however, be careful with when playing around Ash-Greninja, (AC) as it can put Tangrowth into a potential 2HKO range with either Ice Beam or Dark Pulse after Stealth Rock damage if Tangrowth is weakened previously. Due to Regenerator, it can pivot into threats that can still hurt Tangrowth and pivot back out to scout out what type of set the opponent is running foe has. Knock Off in most cases is the safest move to throw out, as it can scout for items and potential Z-Crystals on the opposing team, (RC) while weakening opponents who foes that rely on their items. Tangrowth can use its super effective (RH) coverage to weaken opponents foes like Zygarde if it carries Hidden Power Ice, or and Ferrothorn if it has Hidden Power Fire. In most other cases, Giga Drain is relatively safe and allows Tangrowth to heal back even more health in conjunction with Regenerator to keep it as healthy as possible. However, be careful wary of opponents which carry foes that tend to run Knock Off, such as opposing Tangrowth, as this they can severely limit Tangrowth's ability to check the threats that it needs to check; for example, Knocked Off an itemless ("Knocked Off" isn't a condition.) Tangrowth can get 2HKO'd 2HKOed by non-transformed Ash-Greninja Greninja with Choice Specs Dark Pulse after Stealth Rock.

Team Options
========

This set is best on bulky offense and balance teams that require a strong pivotal check to Water-, Grass-, and Electric-type threats. (AP) with; (RS) Alolan Marowak is threatened by Water-types like Ash-Greninja and partners well with Tangrowth, (AC) as Alolan Marowak can wallbreak and perform as a wallbreaker to weaken threats for it, (AC) and Alolan Marowak can set up Stealth Rock as well; (RSC) Alolan Marowak can even set up Stealth Rock, (AC) which takes allows it to take advantage of the switches that it forces. Toxapex can set up Toxic Spikes (Again, this is about Tangrowth. Either explain how this is beneficial to Tangrowth specifically by somehow tying this into the previous mention of Tangrowth forcing switches, or don't mention Toxic Spikes at all.), and it also appreciates this set checking Extrasensory Greninja set's ability to check Tapu Koko, Zygarde, Garchomp, and Tapu Koko Extrasensory Greninja (Whenever I read lists like this, I always get confused thinking that they all have Extrasensory.) for it; Toxapex can also handle the Fighting- (You don't mention Fighting-types at all anywhere else in this analysis. I strongly recommend either adding something about them to Checks and Counters, or at least giving an example of one here.) and Fire-type threats that Tangrowth has difficulty taking on itself and forms a dual-Regenerator core with Tangrowth. Heatran is a very good partner to for Tangrowth, being as it is able to set up Stealth Rock to help Tangrowth wear down the opposing team easily; (RS). (AP) Heatran can also handle Steel- and Grass-types such as Celesteela and opposing Grass-types like Mega Venusaur (I suggest explaining why these are a threat to Tangrowth, as you haven't mentioned Grass- or Steel-types yet.), while it and it appreciates Tangrowth checking Tangrowth's ability to check Ground-types like Zygarde for it, as Zygarde is forced to use Outrage against Tangrowth if it has it the move, which Heatran can then switch into. Mega Scizor is a strong answer to Mega Metagross, as which this set has difficulty with handling it in comparison to a physically defensive set. It Mega Scizor can even Defog away clear entry hazards with Defog, which is useful against threats like Spikes Greninja or and Ash-Greninja, (AC) which appreciate Spikes to take advantage of the constant switching that Tangrowth does. Ground-types like Zygarde, Landorus-Therian, and Garchomp also pair well with Tangrowth; they like Tangrowth checking appreciate Tangrowth's ability to check Water-types for it, (RC) them and can even weaken Fire-types like Heatran, Mega Charizard-Y Charizard X, and Mega Charizard-X Charizard Y. Entry hazard control is a good idea to run with Tangrowth, as it can get easily worn down from by Stealth Rock, Spikes from the likes of Greninja, or and Toxic Spikes, (AC) from Toxapex (These hazards have more than one setter each, and you've already mentioned that Greninja sets Spikes.) which, even with Regenerator, can cause more (More than what?) trouble for Tangrowth in switching when it switches into the threats that it checks; (RS). (AP) Zapdos is a good example teammate, as it likes Tangrowth checking Tangrowth's ability to take care of various special attackers for it, while and it can check the likes of Mega Pinsir for Tangrowth in return. Tapu Fini is also a good partner due to their the great type synergy that it has with Tangrowth, (AC) and ability for Tapu Fini to Defog can clear entry hazards away for Tangrowth.

Moves
========

Giga Drain is Tangrowth's STAB move, (AC) which it can use to heal back recover from the residual damage that it has taken on top of to augment its Regenerator recovery. Knock Off provides great utility in allowing Tangrowth to cripple softening up its checks by removing their items or potentially scouting for Z-crystals Z-Crystals. Leech Seed is an alternative to Sleep powder, and it allows Tangrowth to weaken opponents foes by draining away their health, (RC) and is best used in place of Sleep Powder if it is not necesary for the team (This clears up potential ambiguity about what you mean to say might not necessary).

Set Details
========

The given HP and Special Defense EVs allow Tangrowth to survive two Zap Plate-boosted Thunderbolts from Tapu Koko at full HP; more Special Defense can be added to better handle Tapu Koko, although this comes at the cost of Tangrowth's physical bulk, which it needs to combat the likes of Mega Metagross. Rocky Helmet is the preferred item so that to allow Tangrowth can to better check the variety of physical attackers in the tier, most notably Mega Metagross.

Usage Tips
========

========

This set appreciates teammates that can deal with the strong special attackers in the tier that this set cannot check due to the lack of special bulk; (RS). (AP) Toxapex is a good example, as it handles non-Extrasensory Greninja not running Extrasensory,(RC) and Ash-Greninja; Toxapex also provides Toxic Spikes support and can even deal with Heatran. Celesteela can deal with a number of special attackers like Tapu Lele and Greninja; (RS), (AC) and it appreciates Tangrowth checking Tangrowth's ability to check Zygarde for it, which can deal great damage to Celesteela with a Choice Band or Dragon Dance set. Heatran can set up Stealth Rock for Tangrowth, (RC) and can also check opposing Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss, (AC) which can serve as great threats to Tangrowth. Tornadus-Therian can serve as a another great partner for Tangrowth (This avoids repeating "Tangrowth" over and over.), as it can check special attackers with its own Assault Vest set, (RC) and forms a dual Regenerator core which allows the two to pivot between each other with ease; while this Tangrowth set checks the physical attackers that check Assault Vest Tornadus-Therian like Mega Metagross, (AC) and the two form a Regenerator core, which allows them to pivot between each other with ease (This is a more logical sentence structure; "A helps B, B helps A, and A + B does this," makes more sense than "A helps B, A + B do this, and B helps A.").

Entry hazard removers are good teammates because they clear entry hazards (this is implied) to make sure that Tangrowth is not put into 2HKO range by the attackers that it checks in addition to damage that is not healed off completely by Regenerator; Zapdos is a great example, as it can also check Mega Pinsir and Supersonic Skystrike Celesteela, two big threats to Tangrowth.

**Mega Venusaur**: The strongest counter to Tangrowth, Mega Venusaur takes very little damage from all of Tangrowth's coverage options, STAB moves, and Knock Off and in return can take out Tangrowth with a STAB Sludge Bomb. (If this is the strongest counter to Tangrowth it should be first on the list)

Nice work
