Team Tournament - FINALS: Pwnemon vs. Objection

Status
Not open for further replies.
Please do not post in here if you are not me, Pwnemon (or his teammates), or Objection (or his teammates).

Rules:

- 4v4 Doubles
- ASB Arena
- All Abilities
- No Items
- 5 recovers/5 chills
- 2 Substitutions
- 2 Day DQ for battlers, 2/3 Day DQ for refs
- Self-KO clause; in the event of a double KO to end the match, the Pokemon that KOed itself through whatever means (self-KOing move, energy exhaustion, etc) loses.

Both battlers chose Switch=OK.

Arena:
Arena: ASB Tournament Arena
Field Type: Neutral
Complexity: Simple
Format: All
Restrictions: No Restrictions

Description: Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about 4.5m wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is 24m wide, 33m long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than 18m). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Ladies and gentlemen, here we are; the finals. Some thought this tournament would never end, but this is it. These last few matches decide who the victors shall be, who will walk away with the crown, and who will walk away with disappointment. It looks as though the crowd couldn't be more excited (or perhaps they're just excited this is finally ending). Enough with the intro though. This match is the doubles match between Team jassmashpwn and Cruel Brittania! On the left, the third part of Team jassmashpwn and one of ASB's high profile negative nancies, it's the resident bitcher, Pwnemon:

Pwnemon:

(Pyroak) Hot Potato (M)
Nature: Rash (+ SpA, - SpD)
Types: Grass / Fire
Grass: Grass STAB; Immunity to Leech Seed and Worry Seed. 50% reduction in status effect chance of oncoming "powder" attacks. More mobile in areas with strong natural light sources. Superior senses in tall grass and forest areas. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus.
Fire: Fire STAB; immune to burn, 50% reduction in freeze chance, emit a low glow in dark places, takes additional damage if active open flames are exposed to a water attack. Superior senses in volcanic or brushfire areas.

Abilities:
Rock Head: (Innate) This Pokemon’s hard body prevents it from taking recoil damage from moves such as Double-Edge, Flare Blitz, and Head Smash.
Battle Armor: (Innate) This Pokemon’s thick armor prevents it from taking critical hits.
Chlorophyll: (Innate) During bright sunlight, this Pokemon’s cells absorb more solar energy, doubling (x2) their speed.

Gliscor Aerotoxin (F)

Nature: Jolly (+15% spe, +14 acc boost, -1 SpA)
Types: Ground / Flying
Ground: Ground STAB; Immune to all electrical attacks, can Dig through almost any substance, Evasive Digging reduced from 3 per action Energy Cost to 2 per action, superior senses in darkened cave surroundings.
Flying: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks outside extremely odd circumstances even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Enhanced aerial mobility. Superior senses in open air arenas.

Abilities:
Sand Veil:
(Innate) This Pokemon is used to reacting in desert conditions and gets a 20% evasion boost during Sandstorms. Pokemon with this ability are immune to Sandstorm damage.
Hyper Cutter: (Innate) This Pokemon always keeps its claws/teeth/pincers extremely sharp, and thus cannot have its attack reduced.
Poison Heal: (Innate) Pokemon with this ability have internal structures that absorb the toxins in poison and uses them to recover two (2) HP/action instead of taking poison damage. When a Pokemon with Poison Heal inflicts Poison on themselves with an attack, it uses up one of their Recovery Moves. If Toxic'd, the Toxic counter will still go up each round and Toxic will do the relevant damage for that round should their ability be disabled.

Colossoil(THE UNDERMINER) (M)

Nature: Jolly (15% increase to speed, 1 stage decrease to SpA, 22% flat acc boost to attacks)
Type: Dark/Water
Dark: Dark STAB; Immunity to all telepathic and telekinetic attacks, better performance in all darkened and especially twilight conditions. Can use any Dark-type attack regardless of Attraction.
Ground: Ground STAB; Immune to all electrical attacks, can Dig through almost any substance, Evasive Digging reduced from 3 per action Energy Cost to 2 per action, superior senses in darkened cave surroundings.

Abilities:
Rebound: (Innate) When this Pokemon is released into battle, it senses the hazards the opponent has laid on the field and thrusts them to the other side of the arena where they will affect the opponent's Pokemon. The Pokemon does not suffer the effects of these hazards when it switches in.
Guts: (Innate) This Pokemon is tenacious and will work ever harder when under a status condition, raising the base attack power of all its physical attacks by two (2). Pokemon with Guts ignore the attack drop from burn.
Pressure: (Innate) This Pokemon’s presence fills the air with intense anxiety, and any damaging or status attack launched at this Pokemon costs the opposing Pokemon two (2) more energy to perform.

Keen Eye: (Innate) This Pokemon has extremely good vision and cannot have its accuracy lowered by an opponent through any means (including accuracy lowering attacks, Smogs, Hazes, Fog, etc.). Its attacks are still affected by an opponent’s evasion and the Pokemon's own accuracy.
Stall: (Innate) This Pokemon has a watchful eye and immense patience. It can be ordered to attack last on any action regardless of ordinary attack priority. If an opponent orders their Pokemon to attack after Sableye, that attack will fail. Against another Sableye, the trainer who issues attacks first has precedence and the opponent's attack will fail.
Prankster: (Innate) The Pokemon is always prepared for engaging in sneaky tactics and trickery, giving its non-damaging attacks an increase in priority level.

Pwnemon is very well known in the community as a calculating battler, and has managed to win his way to the finals despite his Pokemon being somewhat fresh at the start of the tournament. While this is impressive, will he be able to keep it up against our battler on the right? Representing Cruel Brittania, it's the council member and perhaps the most pedantic of the ASB pedants, Objection:

Objection:

Charizard [Hades] (M)
Nature: Lonely (+Attack, -Defence)

Type: Fire/Flying
Fire: Fire STAB; immune to burn, 50% reduction in freeze chance, emit a low glow in dark places, takes additional damage if active open flames are exposed to a water attack. Superior senses in volcanic or brushfire areas.
Flying: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity, even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Will always hit foes with Dig (except other Flying types) and Dive. Cannot be hit by Dive unless the attacking Pokemon has a size class greater than four (4). Immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes. Objection's Pokemon seem to have an advantage over Pwnemon's in both matchup and movepool. Of course, as we all know, that doesn't mean everything in ASB, but it is a distinct advantage.

In a few moments, both battlers will send out their first two Pokemon (please PM me your choices). Once those Pokemon are sent out, I will flip a coin to determine who goes first! Good luck: may all your Scalds critburn and Fissures hit~

Ah, here come the Pokemon! Pwnemon has chosen to lead with Gliscor and Colossoil, while Objection chose Hydreigon and Tomohawk. Oh, Tomohawk just let out a cry towards the opposition! I think that was its Intimidate ability activating. Colossoil looks a little taken aback, but Gliscor just sharpened its claws and fangs. With its Hyper Cutter, it looks like the Intimidate was nullified.

Regardless, now that we know what both battlers are leading with, I'll flip a coin to determine who goes first!
RNG Roll [1 (Pwnemon)|2 (Objection)]: 1/2 (Pwnemon)

... And it looks like Pwnemon will have to issue orders first! That doesn't bode well for him, as Hydreigon and especially Tomohawk seem to have a lot of tricks up their sleeves. What will he do? I guess we'll find out. Good luck Pwnemon, and good luck Objection. This match truly begins... NOW!

Stratos

Banned deucer.
"Honestly, Objection, I can't be winning this match. I will put forth an effort for the fans, but you and I know that the real match will be fought on the triples and singles fields!

"Alas, I must order.

"Colossoil, I need you to lay down the law for that Tomohawk. Bounce it. Then, Body Slam it - and hope for the paralysis chance! Finish off with another Bounce! If he tries to play around you with Double Team, show him your skills with a Rock Slide. Don't let him dodge you with his own Bounciness. If he tries, then I need you to smack him down. Oughta teach him who you are.

"Gliscor, you have an equally important role to play in downing the war-bird thing. Acrobatics ~ Acrobatics ~ Acrobatics are your rather simple orders. But don't forget! If either foe uses Reflect, then you need to be quick on the draw with a Brick Break to keep it from dampening our assault. And if Tomohawk tries to use Protect, you have the vital job of Feinting it into submission.

"Now, let's do our worst."

Colossoil: Bounce Tomohawk ~ Body Slam Tomohawk ~ Bounce Tomohawk
IF Tomohawk uses Double Team then use Rock Slide
IF Tomohawk uses Bounce when you would be using Bounce then use Smack Down Tomohawk
KO SUB: IF Tomohawk falls then replace your remaining actions with Smack Down Hydreigon.

Gliscor: Acrobatics Tomohawk ~ Acrobatics Tomohawk ~ Acrobatics Tomohawk
IF Tomohawk uses Protect and he did not last action then use Feint
IF the foe has reflect up then Brick Break Hydreigon (bulba says it still works even if hydreigon is in the semi-invuln of fly)
KO SUB: IF Tomohawk falls then replace your actions with Sky Uppercut Hydreigon

"So that's what your plan is, huh? Well, sometimes the best defence is a good offence. Other times, the best defence is a good defence. I cannot completely stop your relentless assault this round, but I can hinder it while setting up favourable circumstances for my team. A-like so:"

Hydreigon: Protect (Tomohawk) - Torment (Gliscor) - Protect (self) (Brick Break definitely does not break Reflect if the target protects.)

Tomohawk: Safeguard - Grass Knot (Colossoil) - Reflect

Both battlers bark out some orders to their Pokemon, and immediately the four Pokemon spring into action. Tomohawk, the seemingly slowest of the bunch, is actually the first to move, setting up a Safeguard around Hydreigon and itself. This unnatural speed must be the result of its infamous Prankster ability. Hydreigon continues the defensive strategy by throwing up a barrier around Tomohawk with Protect. The barrier was put up just in time, as it just managed to block an Acrobatics from Gliscor and a Bounce from Colossoil! Great planning and teamwork by Objection's Pokemon, and not a great start for Pwnemon.

Hydreigon suddenly flies around Gliscor, dark energy radiating from it. I think the move we just saw was Torment? Looks like it, because Gliscor seems to be having trouble performing its move. However, it looks like Colossoil took the opportunity to get in close to Tomohawk. It just dove on it with a Body Slam, and scored a critical hit! Colossoil is a heavy Pokemon, so that attack must have done some damage, though that Safeguard from earlier prevents it from paralyzing Tomohawk. Tomohawk emerges from underneath Colossoil, and it doesn't look happy. Oh, it just tripped Colossoil with Grass Knot, turning all that weight against it! How clever! With Colossoil being so heavy, and Grass Knot being a super effective attack, that looked like it hurt.

Hydreigon continues to play defensive, utilizing Protect again. It looks like it's using it on itself this time though! Tomohawk seems to be putting up another screen as well. This time it looks like a Reflect. That's probably a smart move, considering that both Gliscor and Colossoil are physical attackers. Gliscor tries to break through to Hydreigon with a Brick Break, but it doesn't seem to be able to crack the barrier. That's impressive! Colossoil follows up with another Bounce on Tomohawk. That Reflect allowed Tomohawk to shrug off the hit though, and the Safeguard prevented paralysis from occurring. Hmm... things don't look to be in Pwnemon's favor. That being said, damage wise the two teams seem pretty even, and Objection does have to order first this time, so you never know!

"Perhaps this match-up is not very favourable for you. Would you like to try for a better one?"

After setting up with Tomohawk, Objection chooses to recall it and send out Hariyama. Pwnemon declines to counterswitch in order to keep his advantage of ordering second. Let's see how well that works out for him...

Colossoil immediately speeds into action, launching a shockwave at the fresh Hariyama with Fake Out. Smart move, because it looks like Hariyama was in the middle of a similar attack. Too bad though, because Colossoil's Fake Out caused it to flinch. Hydreigon mocks Colossoil with Taunt, enraging it. That's an interesting move, because it prevents Colossoil from using any of its support options. However, it comes at a big cost of pissing off a Colossoil and forcing it to attack, and it also costs a lot of energy to perform due to Colossoil's Pressure. Hydreigon does look like its a bit tuckered out from only a couple moves. Anyways, Gliscor just whipped up a huge gust of wind! Both Gliscor and Colossoil seem to be faster than before, so I think it's safe to say that the move Gliscor just used was Tailwind. That'll make Pwnemon's Pokemon faster than Hydreigon, though I wonder what he'll have them do with their newfound advantage.

Gliscor starts by summoning up some rocks. It doesn't seem like they're going to do anything though, they're just sitting in the corners of the arena ominously. Was that the move Stealth Rock? If so, that could be very bad for Objection's Charizard, and will also limit his switching abilities. I guess we'll just have to wait and see with that. Colossoil sprang up high again, and it looks like it did so just in time, dodging a Dragon Pulse from Hydreigon and a Low Kick from Hariyama. It then came crashing down on Hydreigon with Bounce, though thanks to the Safeguard put up earlier, Hydreigon and Objection don't have to worry about paralysis kicking in.

It looks like Colossoil is going to keep up these dodging tactics, as it just burrowed into the arena. Gliscor takes this opportunity to smack Hydreigon with a Sky Uppercut. Even though it was a super effective attack, Hydreigon managed to shrug it off due to the Reflect Tomohawk put up. It doesn't even look like it acknowledged the hit, instead trying to go after Colossoil with Hidden Power. It didn't work though, and neither did the Vital Throw Hariyama just attempted. Oh, Colossoil just burst out of the ground and slammed into Hydreigon with Dig. Impressively, Pwnemon's Pokemon managed to avoid taking any damage at all this round, while setting up for later and dishing out some damage to the opponent. Can they keep up the momentum, or will Objection steal it all back now that its his turn to order second?

After that last round, Pwnemon seems content with Colossoil's performance, and withdraws it for Sableye. Sableye is a really tricky Pokemon, and it's almost impossible to order against when ordering first. Lucky for Objection that's not the case right now...

The Sableye quickly springs into action with a Taunt on Hydreigon, giving it a taste of its own medicine. That speed must be due to its Prankster ability, just like how Tomohawk was so quick. Meanwhile, Gliscor repeats its opening move of Acrobatics, this time on Hariyama. The Reflect cushioned the blow just a little, but Hariyama definitely felt that! Hydreigon, infuriated, unleashes a Dragon Pulse on Gliscor. It's looking pretty tired, but it can't chill due to the Taunt, so it has no choice but to keep expending energy. Hariyama, reeling from the Acrobatics, siphons some extra HP to form a Substitute to hide behind. I think I know where this is going...

Yep, Hariyama seems to be tightening its focus while behind the doll. A Focus Punch is coming! Sableye tries to hit Hariyama with a Confuse Ray to disrupt it, but the Substitute (and Safeguard) protect it. Gliscor is raining some rocks down with Rock Slide, but they barely scratched the doll. It did do some damage to Hydreigon though, who retaliates with a Surf. That looks like it did some damage to the Substitute, but more importantly it did a lot of damage to Gliscor and Sableye. Oh, Hariyama is done charging up! It just slammed into Gliscor with an insane Focus Punch+Ice Punch! Gliscor hadn't taken any damage before this round, but it looks like its in a lot of pain now.

As a last ditch move, Gliscor attacks the Substitute with an Acrobatics, and it looks like it managed to shred it into pieces. Hydreigon is going in for the KO though! A powerful Draco Meteor slams into Gliscor, knocking it out for the first blood of the match. Objection seems to be going all out with flashy moves here! What next, Blast Burn? Anyways, Sableye goes in for a Zen Headbutt on Hariyama, who looks so exhausted from its previous attack that it can't even move. Speaking of exhausted, Hydreigon looks incredibly wiped. That Draco Meteor not only cost a lot of energy, leaving it with a critically low amount, but it also has the nasty side effect of lowering its Special Attack. And since it's still taunted, it has no choice but to use more attacks next...

Pwnemon may be the first to lose a Pokemon, but this match is far from decided.

Objection recalls both Hydreigon and Hariyama, and sends in Tomohawk and Charizard as replacements. The Stealth Rock instantly take a toll on both Pokemon though, and Charizard looks particularly battered by them. Tomohawk lets out a roar in response, scaring both Pyroak and Sableye. That must be Intimidate at work again. The switch is an interesting choice for Objection. While it does force his Pokemon to incur damage, it puts him in a position that he must feel is better overall. Let's see how it works out.

Tomohawk starts flying around Sableye, but before it can do anything, Sableye shrouds itself with a barrier. It looks like Tomohawk is using Taunt on Sableye, but that barrier has reflected it back. That must have been Magic Coat! Hmm... Charizard is getting some altitude. It's probably preparing for an attack while waiting for Pyroak to try and attack it. Pyroak doesn't seem to be doing anything though, so Charizard goes in for a Fly. That did some pretty decent damage. Pyroak just retaliates with a Roar that seems to really frighten Charizard. Pwnemon's plan must be to force Charizard out to make it keep taking damage from Stealth Rock.

Sableye is looking towards Pyroak, and just released a blue bolt towards it. If I'm not wrong, that move was Helping Hand, which will pwoer up Pyroak's next attack. Tomohawk tries to help out Charizard by blowing a Tailwind, but that Taunt prevented it from doing so! Meanwhile, Charizard starts to fly up high again... but Pyroak hasn't attacked yet! Pyroak tanks another Fly from Charizard, and then charges towards Tomohawk and unleashes a powerful Flare Blitz+Flare Blitz! Pwnemon seems to be mimicking Objection's use of flashy moves, and it worked, as Tomohawk faints from the powered up attack. Normally an attack like that would cause severe recoil, but Pyroak doesn't seem to have taken any damage at all. That must be due to it's Rock Head ability.

While Pyroak is cooling down, Sableye has to protect it, and it uses Gravity to do so. Charizard attempts to use Fly again, but it can't manage to get high enough off the ground with the heightened gravity in effect. Sableye sure is a tricky Pokemon, and these last few moves have really highlighted how much of a nuisance it can be to order first against.

Alone and unable to fly high, and frightened by Pyroak's earlier Roar, Charizard retreats back into its PokeBall, forcing Hariyama to come back out. The sumo Pokemon is buffeted by the Stealth Rock trap, but shrugs it off much easier than the two Flying-types before it. Objection has to send out another Pokemon, but at least he has the advantage of ordering second this round. Can he turn around what just happened?
