Team Tournament - R2: "MrL" vs. Dogfish44

Status
Not open for further replies.
Please do not post in here if you are not me, "MrL", or Dogfish44.

Rules:

- 5v5 Triples (Positioning OFF)
- ASB Arena
- All Abilities
- No Items
- 5 recovers/5 chills
- 2 Substitutions
- 2 Day DQ for battlers, 2/3 Day DQ for refs
- Self-KO clause; in the event of a double KO to end the match, the Pokemon that KOed itself through whatever means (self-KOing move, energy exhaustion, etc) loses.

Both battlers chose Switch=OK, so that's what we'll do!

Arena:
Arena: ASB Tournament Arena
Field Type: Neutral
Complexity: Simple
Format: All

Restrictions: No Restrictions

Description: Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about 4.5m wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is 24m wide, 33m long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than 18m). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Welcome ladies and gentlemen! We apologize for the wait. Today, we have the Triples match of the of the tournament between the The Star Gazers and Team Cruel Britannia! On the left, we have a cloaked figure that appears to be MrL representing the Star Gazers:

"MrL":

Roserade (*) [Bandit] (Male)
Nature: Timid (+15% Speed, 12% Flat Accuracy Boost, -1 Atk)
Type: Grass/Poison
Grass: Grass STAB; Immunity to Leech Seed and Worry Seed. 50% reduction in status effect chance of oncoming "powder" attacks. More mobile in areas with strong natural light sources. Superior senses in tall grass and forest areas. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus.
Poison: Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic, see and breath through smog/smokescreens/haze uninhibited. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus. Superior senses in urban settings.

Abilities:
Natural Cure: (Innate) This Pokemon’s body has the ability to heal itself of status afflictions over time, it goes into effect six (6) actions after being inflicted with a status. In switch battles, this Pokemon heals all status effects when switched out.
Poison Point: (Can be Disabled) This Pokemon’s spikes/quills/thorns are coated in poison, and there is a 30% chance of poisoning any foe that uses a contact attack on this Pokemon. When disabled, all of this Pokemon's attacks that inflict regular poison will inflict Toxic poison (with the same chance of effect).
Technician [DW UNLOCKED]: (Innate) This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their attacks that normally have 6 or less Base Attack Power to have their Base Attack Power multiplied by 1.5. (e.g. Aerial Ace goes from 6 to 9, Mach Punch goes from 4 to 6, etc.) The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) Base Attack Power, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2). Because Technician is a multiplier on single hit moves, its effect is applied to Base Attack Power before any additive effects.

Hmm... is it just my imagination, or is that actually two people...? Anyways, on the right we have Dogfish44 representing Cruel Brittania:

Dogfish44:

Hydreigon [Teresa] (F)
Nature: Hasty (+15% Speed, +15% Accuracy, -1 Def)
Type: Dark/Dragon: Dragon STAB; More in touch with legendary or special auras in arenas. Able to use Hyper Beam and Giga Impact without losing focus. Levitate Pokemon will retain the Levitate trait when they use Skill Swap on an enemy, and will steal the opponent's ability (the user can specify if they want a foe or ally to gain Levitate from a Skill Swap.) If a Pokemon with Levitate uses Role Play, they will copy the opponent's abilities and retain Levitate.

Now, I've recieved a slip of paper from each challenger telling me what Pokemon they'll be sending out first (PM me your choices ;3). In a moment, those Pokemon will be sent out, and I'll then flip a coin to determine who orders first. Good luck, and may the best battler win!

Note: Sorry about the delay. I wanted to get this up a while ago but I've been on a plane/the road for the last few days with only phone internet. The rest of this match should go faster though, hopefully.

Hmm.... it looks like all the Pokemon are being sent out! Look!

Ladies and gentlemen, it appears that the match is finally starting! Krilowatt immediately activates its Trace ability to copy Cyclohm's Shield Dust, while Scrafty leers at the opposition with Intimidate to lower their Attack...

MrL's Scrafty then gets the first hit in, going with a swift Fake Out on Archeops. That's a smart move, as Krilowatt follows suit with a Thunder, and while Archeops is flinching, Roserade puts it to sleep with Sleep Powder. Not that good a start for Archeops. Hmm... what's this? Both Electivire and Cyclohm have timed two Earthquakes so that they happen in synchro, to avoid damaging each other while still hurting all of MrL's team. The attacks are unfortunately weakened from Scrafty's Intimidate, but it looks like they still put a sizeable dent in both Krilowatt and Roserade.

Krilowatt isn't pleased, and continues its assault on the sleeping Archeops by soaking it with Hydro Pump. Wow, it looks like the attack was a critical hit! The attack also seemed to wake up Archeops, as it just flew up into the sky..? Roserade tries to target it with a Mega Drain, but it can't reach Archeops. Electivire and Cyclohm seize the opportunity, and pound away at Roserade with a Fire Punch and Fire Blast respectively. These two Electric-type Pokemon are really working well in unison. I wouldn't expect anything less from Pokemon on a Gym Leader's team though. Scrafty, in an effort to protect Roserade, uses Rock Slide to try and hit Dogfish44's team. It failed to hit Archeops though, who is still in the air, and it didn't manage to do that much to Electivire and Cyclohm either. Archeops suddenly smashes into Roserade with Fly, leaving it at a critically low amount of HP. It's strange though... the attack did a little bit less than expected. Krilowatt's last hit must have made Archeops's Defeatist ability kick in...

It looks as though Dogfish44 has the advantage right now, but with both teams having a pretty weakened Pokemon, who knows what will happen next round?

Dogfish44 swaps his weakened Archeops out for Hydreigon, and the Pokemon soon go at it again! Krilowatt starts by distracting all of the opposing Pokemon with Follow Me. Both Hydreigon and Electivire suddenly turn around... Scrafty also moves much faster than normal, and attempts to Fake Out Cyclohm. I don't know how effective it'll be against a Pokemon with Shield Dust though. Hydreigon, who was originally flying towards Roserade, slams into Krilowatt with an Acrobatics attack. That Follow Me from Krilowatt seems to have been pretty effective. Roserade then shoots out another beam, and sucks some energy from Electivire with Mega Drain. It does look a little better now, though still pretty weakened. The attack must have been boosted by Roserade's Technician ability, because it hit much harder than the average Mega Drain. Electivire then smacks Krilowatt with a Brick Break, even though it seemed like it first wanted to hit Scrafty. Having to change targets must have made the attack a little weaker. Cyclohm wasn't fazed by the Follow Me nor the Fake Out though, and whipped up a huge Twister+Gust combination that struck all three of MrL's Pokemon. Wow, it seemed like that hardly took anything out of Cyclohm, but it put a big dent in MrL's pokes...

Krilowatt picks itself up and shoots an Ice Beam at Hydreigon, and the dragon screeches out in pain. It retaliates by slamming rocks onto MrL's team with a Rock Slide. Both Krilowatt and Scrafty just shrug the blow off, but it seems like it scored a critical hit on Roserade, who faints onto the ground. Electivire tries to follow up with a second Rock Slide, but it completely misses Krilowatt and Scrafty. Scrafty then avenges its comrade by punching Hydreigon pretty hard. I'm guessing that was a Drain Punch, as it seems to have stolen some HP from Hydreigon.

Dogfish has spilled the first blood in this match, but let's see what happens next!

Krillowatt (MrL)
Hydreigon (Dogfish44)
Lucario (MrL)
Electivire (Dogfish44)
Cyclohm (Dogfish44)
Scrafty (MrL)

To replace the fallen Roserade, Lucario is sent out, and MrL's team seems to be out for revenge. Krilowatt shoots a second Ice Beam at Hydreigon, while Hydreigon whirls past Scrafty to deliver an Acrobatics to Krilowatt. Lucario then releases a ball of pure aura in an Aura Sphere that smacks Hydreigon really good. MrL's team looks like its targeting solely Hydreigon to try and KO it. On that note, both Electivire and Cyclohm gang up on Krilowatt with two Hidden Power attacks. Dogfish44 also seems to be using the strategy of attacking just one enemy. Scrafty was faked out by Hydreigon's Acrobatics, and attempted to use Counter, but it didn't seem to work as Hydreigon didn't actually attack it...

Krilowatt mixes things up by attacking Electivire with Earth Power, manipulating the ground around it to hit Electivire with its one weakness. Dogfish44 knows that Hydreigon is going to be attacked by the two Fighting-types, and tells it to dodge by flying up high in the air! That's a good plan, since obviously neither Lucario nor Scrafty can gain that altitude or aim their attacks that high. This becomes apparent as Lucario is unable to land a Drain Punch. Electivire counterattacks Krilowatt with another Hidden Power, and Cyclohm also follows up with Hidden Power. Krilowatt looks like its unable to take that much power, and falls over, knocked out. Scrafty attemps to hit Hydreigon, but its Drain Punch also misses. Hydreigon then tries to attack Krilowatt with Fly, but I guess it didn't notice it was already knocked out.

Dogfish seems to be slowly securing his advantage, but his Hydreigon isn't looking too good, even though it did dodge the last two attacks. We'll see I guess...
