[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Close Combat
move 2: Stone Edge
move 3: Quick Attack
move 4: X-Scissor / Sacred Sword
item: Choice Band
ability: Justified
nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

The goal of this set is to bring immediate brute force onto the battlefield. Close Combat, along with Stone Edge, are this set's main attacks, and are Terrakion's strongest STAB moves. In fact, Terrakion has a good chance to OHKO Great Wall Lugia after Stealth Rock damage; because most Lugia do not run a +Speed nature, Lugia won't be able to stall out Terrakion with Roost. Terrakion is also capable of 2HKOing offensive Calm Mind Mewtwo after Stealth Rock damage, and because Mewtwo is a common switch-in, Terrakion can still deal a lot of damage with the safe Close Combat instead of being stuck with something less reliable. But, in the case of defensive variants of Mewtwo, it can just tank the hit and Recover its health back, and either burn Terrakion with Will-O-Wisp or go for the kill with Psystrike. Not only that, Terrakion can also 2HKO one of the sturdiest walls in the Ubers metagame, as well as a very common switch-in to Terrakion: Groudon. Stealth Rock damage and 2 layers of Spikes ensures the 2HKO on Support Groudon, and since Groudon lacks reliable recovery this can even be done without Spikes, but will need some prior damage instead. It also must be noted that Terrakion outspeeds Standard ExtremeKiller Arceus, survives a +2 ExtremeSpeed and OHKOes Arceus with a super effective Close Combat. Quick Attack can pick off Rayquaza or Mewtwo at about 25% HP and can be quite useful in a pinch. X-Scissor hits common Psychic-type Pokemon such as Mewtwo, but most can usually take that hit and strike back at Terrakion with their STAB moves. Sacred Sword ignores all Defense boosts, which is very helpful if your team struggles against Bulk Up Dialga.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The set is pretty much self-explanatory. Choice Band grants you the immediate brute force you need in order to be an efficient wallbreaker. Jolly along with the listed EVs maximize Terrakion's offensive power without losing any important stat. If you're looking for an alternative over X-Scissor or Sacred Sword, Earthquake is a good option, as it can 2HKO Poison Arceus who would otherwise wall you.

Hippowdon, Giratina, and Groudon are good counters to Terrakion. All three of them are able to tank Terrakion's moves, although Groudon cannot take repeated hits. Faster Arceus formes that can hit Terrakion super effectively are good checks, though some formes, namely Dark and Steel, cannot switch into this set safely. Mewtwo, as already noted, is faster, can take a hit, and strike back with a super effective STAB Psystrike. Darkrai, Dark Arceus, Dialga, Kyogre, and Rayquaza are good partners because they excel at removing Terrakion's counters and clearing the path for Terrakion to sweep, while also enjoying Terrakion's wallbreaking capabilities. Ho-Oh and Reshiram are good partners as well because Terrakion can take on all Rock Arceus variants bar Swords Dance, who walls the aforementioned partners. Additionally, Ho-Oh supports Terrakion by defeating most variants of Calm Mind Arceus which Terrakion cannot handle, and Reshiram can kill Groudon and Giratina. Excadrill can switch into every move besides Close Combat and Sacred Sword and can OHKO Terrakion with Earthquake. If Sandstorm is in effect, Excadrill outspaces Terrakion as well. Scarf Garchomp outruns Terrakion and OHKOes with Earthquake, but risks being OHKOed by Close Combat on the switch. Although rare, Gliscor can also effectively wall this set thanks to its resistances and Protect, along with the ability to 2HKO Terrakion with Earthquake. However, Gliscor should be wary of Stone Edge, as it is 2HKOed by it after Stealth Rock damage.

Definitely not as good as the Choice Scarf version. What's this thing gonna hit? It can't kill much- except for usual pokes that take a supper effective hit from him- Give some calcs

Is this skeleton finished? If it is, then make these small changes:
- Bulk Up Groudon won't care about Sacred Sword one bit, remove that part.
- Add some teammates and counters (Teammates: Darkrai, Dialga, Kyogre, shit to take on Giratina and Groudon, Counters: Giratina, Groudon, Psychic Arceus, lol)

Would you look at the time?

It shouldn't be forgotten that this version of Terrakion effectively eliminates non-swords dance (this variant is used less then Groundceus's swords dance anyway) Rockceus from the game. This makes it a VERY GOOD partner for stuff like Ho-oh and Reshiram (the ladder beats Giratina and Groudon, while the former hardcore trolls Psychic Arceus).

Just something I feel you should mention :).

Implemented shrang's and Mr.lol's changes, added some calcs to SC.

Good for QCs

2) able to 2HKO Mewtwo with CC after SR
Heh, Terrakion needs a Scarf to outrun Mewtwo, you don't 2HKO it, you hit it once and then run for your life.

X-Scissor needs to be removed, it's much much safer to Stone Edge Mewtwo on the switch rather than lock yourself into an unSTAB Bug move.
X-Scissor doesn't even get that guarenteed OHKO after Stealth Rock, while Stone Edge OHKOs after Stealth Rock + 1 Layer of Spikes, so really, there is no point.

Sacred Sword isn't too impressive either since Close Combat already does massive damage to +1 Dialga. But the fact that you can get a clean kill against +6 Dialga is cool I suppose.

You don't switch into Mewtwo, Mewtwo switches into you.

According to my calcs:

-252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion X-Scissor vs 4 HP/0 Def Mewtwo: 80.23% - 94.92%
-252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Stone Edge vs 4 HP/0 Def Mewtwo: 75.42% - 88.98%

X-Scissor is much safer, not to mention the miss chances. Plus, it's a good filler along with Sacred Sword, that's why they are there.

I was the one who pushed for this in Ditto's original Terrakion analysis and I just love CB Terrakion. Most opponents think Terrakion is running a Scarf and run to Tina-O only to die thanks to Stone Edge. Close Combat is just killer with STAB and that attack and if you can manage to eliminate your opponents Ghosts, something is going to get hurt. Groudon cant even take 2 hits with Spikes + SR.

Mention Dark Arceus makes a good partner thanks to being able to take on Ghosts, Mewtwo and just stall teams in general and Terrakion can remove stuff like Chansey and Ferrothorn for Dark Arceus with ease. Both share a fighting type weakness but fighting type moves aren't that common anyway. I just love using this thing. Will look at the skeleton more thororughly later. Probably going to approve.

Earthquake can 2HKO Poison Arceus. It should get a small mention I think because otherwise Poison Arceus can wall Terrakion. Mention CB Terrakion outspeeds Normal Arceus wall, allowing you to finish it with Close Combat after just a bit of damage.

Stall Mewtwo can outspeed and OHKO you with Psytrike. Stone Edge deals a lot of damage to it though but Mewtwo will survive and burn you or KO.

Note that this does not apply to Jolly Arceus, since some people still run that, and for good reason.

And trickroom, when did Stalltwo start running Psystrike o_0? Don't you just mean Mewtwo in general?

When I ran Stalltwo, I always ran Psystrike btw. If you opt for an offensive move on Stalltwo Psystrike is your best bet IMO.

QC Approved 3/3

Yeah, Psytrike is actually slashed in on the StallTwo set. Psytrike can at least threaten Ho-Oh and Reshiram on the switch in. It does a fair ton to Kyogre as well.

You probably want to mention Mixed Rayquaza as a great teammate somewhere. Rayquaza slams Groudon and Giratina with Draco Meteor while Outrage owns Defensive Kyogre in 2 hits. Rayquaza can clear the way for Terrakion to sweep. Scarf Garchomp is actually capable of checking you too. Close Combat hurts it a lot but Garchomp will survive.

Since it already gotten an Uber analysis, Hippowdon is also a counter to Terrakion. Excadrill should get a mention because it can switch in on anything not named Close Combat or Sacred Sword and OHKO you.

Quick Attack brings priority, it can pick off ~25% Rayquaza or Mewtwo, who are usually coupled equipped with a Life Orb which will take 10% each time they attack, so it's likely that they will reach that low amount of HP. X-Scissor hits common Psychic-type Pokemon, like such as Mewtwo, but most can usually take that hit and strike you Terrakion back with their STAB Psychic- moves, . while (< Period) Sacred Sword breaks through all Defense stat boosts, (< Comma, remove hyphen >) - which is very helpful if you struggle against Bulk Up Dialga.

Ever think of putting on Rock Slide as an option for the last slot? Myabe just a mention of that.
Rock Slide is just too weak and does a pittance to most Ubers. I think its mentioned in the OO of the main analysis and it is definitely not worthy of a slash.
