Are you serious? These guys are fighting over Dr. Pepper? My goodness, what has ASB come to if we have to hold matches over soda preferences...Eh, at least I get UC.

As a crowd gathers around the TV to watch a particularly exciting round of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wario delivers a message to the soon-to-be-disappointed gamers:

"WARIO WARIO WAHAHAHARIO WARIO WARIO WAHAHAHA!"

(This roughly translates as "Too bad I rented out the stadium to some punks arguing over a beverage!")

As the crowd gets up and starts to leave, they realize exactly what's happening on-screen- the only thing more attracting to nerds than Super Smash Bros. (except WoW, LoL, D&D, Skyrim, Minecraft, Warlight, etc.): Pokemon! Two trainers, the inexplicable Son_of_Shadoo and the inscrutable Orcinus Duo, have gathered on Wario's arena to engage in combat over possibly the most trivial matter in existence: the quality level of Dr. Pepper. They seem very hyped about it, unlike everyone else, but, since the only other option is to interact socially with someone who can't speak Klingon fluently, everyone else has decided to look interested anyway.

Here's a description of the WarioWare arena, for those of you who may not have heard of it:

An artificial environment with no external water source or natural grass. Digging and seismic moves are allowed. Weather is allowed.

At the beginning of each round, the ref will give a task to the participating pokemon to perform during the round. It can be anything as long as all active pokemon can feasibly accomplish it (eg, use non-STAB moves only). Any pokemon that fail to complete the task take damage equal to 1/4 of their max HP.


Even Wario needs rules sometimes, so here are the agreed-upon conditions of the match.

I'll keep this brief, since Captain Falcon wants to start Falcon PAWNCH!!!!!ing people as fast as possible. The first action works pretty much as Orcinus planned, with Hijinks flinching and taking some minor damage, although Mia's Will-O-Wisp connects and burns Buffy...and no, Hyper Cutter does not ignore burn. :/

Mind Protects herself from everything that happens on Action 2, which is good because every attack hit her. Hijinks's Signal Beam wouldn't have done much, and neither would Buffy's Earthquake, which also deals so decent damage to Hijinks and Mia; but it's Mia's Shadow Punch which consumes the majority of Mind's energy this action.

Buffy takes some mild damage from an Ice Beam before retaliating with a Brick Break; the exchange is only punctuated by a Hypnosis from Mind, which leaves Mia unable to do anything this action.

Now comes the moment of truth: Who passed the TotR?

Round 2 Begin!

I'M BAAAA-AAAACK! And this time, I'm packing flavor!

Hijinks and Mind start off the round by completing Ganondorf's first requirement and spamming Dark moves. Hijinks Torments Buffy, while Mind Taunts Mia...although neither really does anything yet. Buffy jumps into the shadows and leaps out to Faint Attack Mia, at which point Mia wakes up and does more damage than everyone else combined so far by simply punching Mind in the face. Whoo.

Speaking of punching, Mia does it again next action, nailing Buffy for some slight damage before anyone else can move. Hijinks blasts Mind in the face with a Hydro Pump, leaving her reeling, but she still manages to pull off a Reflect that should help with the survival of her and Buffy later. Speaking of Buffy, he kind of sits there this action being Tormented. Maybe that Reflect isn't very useful after all...

Hijinks shoots a Signal Beam at Mind this action, but Mind is able to Filter out some of the damage, meaning the attack does almost nothing. Mind responds with a slightly more potent Psychic, which brings Hijinks to a dangerously low health level. Buffy, so far the only Pokemon to not complete Ganondorf's second requirement yet, finally completes it this action by denting Hijinks with an X-Scissor. Mia finishes the round with a Shadow Punch that cuts Mind's HP to less than half.

So encoring dusknoir into brick break should make it spend 18 energy (6*3), which leaves it with 60 energy. Ahahahaha.
Magical Leafx2 KO's krillowatt, at 15.75 dmg per attack wooo technician. Hydro Pump x3, 13.5*3=40.5 falls just short of getting rid of mind before A3. Of course, mind falls to that damned penalty later, but no matter.

Dusknoir's brick breaks deal 9.5 (8+1.5) damage. So, first two deal 19 damage, x1.75 gives us a respectable 33.25 damage. This, plus shadow ball, plus penalty, should KO it.

Round 3 Begin!

The round opens with Buffy...just kind of sitting there. Very dramatic. Hijinks, quite frankly, doesn't give a crap, so she just blasts Mind with a Hydro Pump instead of worrying about Buffy. Mind looks ticked off about this, but she opts to Shadow Ball Mia instead of doing anything to Hijinks (dang Trainer's orders). It seems her rage was well-used, though, as this Shadow Ball scored a critical hit! Mia then smashes through Reflect with a Brick Break that leaves a tiny dent in Buffy.

While Buffy continues to loaf around, Hijinks successfully nukes Mind with another Hydro Pump. Mind then begins to clap for some unknown reason, but Mia obviously thinks it must be for her, as she then uses another Brick Break on Buffy instead of beating the snot out Mind like she was ordered to.

At this point, Buffy stands up and unleashes a decent-sized burst of energy that hits Mia right where it hurts- although, to be honest, it doesn't do all that much damage. (@Orcinus: When you did your calcs here, you forgot to take into account that Bug resists Fighting.) Hijinks, whose energy is pretty much beyond repair at this point, tries to hit Mind with another Hydro Pump, but the attack breaks wide left. Mia wraps up her Encored attacks with another Brick Break on Buffy, leaving Mind able to nail Hijinks with a MYSTIC LEAF BARRAGE! The sheer force of a bunch of leaves leaves Hijinks incredibly low on health, but it knocks out Mind due to its ridiculous energy consumption! (@Orcinus again: A combination is treated as a single attack, so Technician doesn't apply here.)

Now, the question whose answer we've all been waiting for: Who actually bothered to do the TotR?
