There is no guarantee that Robinson will play QB, let alone start for the Jags. In fact, early indication seems to be that they're planning to use him everywhere on offense - at running back, wide receiver, and a Wildcat QB.
this is correct.

Denard will not be the starting QB, he will be used any way they can think of to get the ball in his hands, but he still has a long way to go.

I was joking about Denard Robinson being the top QB for the Jaguars; it was mostly a joke at how horrendous Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert are...

I was just thinking, what the hell ever happened to Nnamdi Asomugha?

I guess Philadelphia really is where careers go to die.

He signed with the 49ers who just lost one of their other CBs Chris Culliver for the year with an ACL tear.

Philly didn't know how to use him. He's also not nearly as good as people think.

...and married one of the hottest chicks in Hollywood while he was at it (imo, imo, imo)

I am very skeptical about the new setup for Pro Bowl. It's a nice change-up, but I don't see it going too well long-term.

I can't blame Kolb for a situation that any attorney with a quarter of a brain could've told them "this is creating a gigantic fucking hazard you morons"

Manuel had the door swung wide open for him to grab the starting job, but apparent he didn't seize the opportunity strongly. Pettine (DC) is starting to throw more varied defensive looks at him, and he's starting to show the rookie struggles.

Chargers have lost WR Danario Alexander potentially for the season with the torn ACL, per ESPN source.

RT @Eagles: WR Arrelious Benn suffered a torn ACL in today's practice.

The year of the torn knee continues.

Bears CB Kelvin Hayden: torn hamstring, season over.

Shit is pretty fucked right now.

It's far past the point where it could just be a coincidence. The lack of offseason programs thanks to the new CBA has given players too much rest between seasons, and supposedly this much rest is bad for tendons and the major contributor to most of the ACL injuries this year.

resting alone is not bad for your tendons, that's a rather silly notion. Sure if you spend 6 months doing absolutely nothing, when your body is accustomed to the rigors of professional football, your muscles and tendons can weaken a bit, but I find it difficult to believe that is what is happening to these guys. I'm quite sure they continue to work out during the offseason, even if not to the degree they would work out during a regular season. What is happening here is more likely the product of players not adequately stretching or warming up, coupled with the intensity of training camp regiments. Ligaments are torn by violent contact, and 6 months of rest does not make this any more likely to happen than before. This is just unfortunate luck for these guys.

apparently I had heard that notion from some football exec via John Clayton, which isn't exactly a very reliable source hehe. at a guess, muscle weakness (due to a lack of offseason training) could lead to predisposing someone to injury, but obviously doesn't cause the injury alone.

I don't think it could be much else (other than a coincidence), because we're seemingly seeing more injuries this year than in most years past. if it was just improper warmup techniques or something, injury frequency probably wouldn't change much from year to year. could just be coincidental that so many injuries are happening this year, of course, but there's been so many I think it's moving past that point.

I think it would be good if a real doctor or other specialist could elaborate on this, because they are the experts. I am obviously not an expert, but as someone who's been an athlete his whole life and has dealt a great deal with trainers and medical people I can tell you that the degree of which your body weakens during the offseason is virtually nonexistent, and the circumstances under which these injuries happen are not going to be made-or-broken by that negligible difference.

I have read before that some doctors blame these injuries on the players OVERtraining, because they are placing more stress on their bodies with all the extra muscle mass that just isn't natural. Athletes train and are in better physical condition than they were twenty years ago, they are hitting each other and placing way more strain on their joints.

This seems a more likely scenario, since ligaments do not grow along with your muscles and tendons. If your muscles get excessively bigger than your natural frame is meant to sustain, it puts undue pressure on the ligaments and tendons holding it all together, and makes injury more likely. This is especially exacerbated by the use of steroids, which push your muscle size far beyond their initial limits. Once I was in a gym and I witnessed a guy, obviously on steroids, doing curls. On one lift, I saw his tendon physically snap away from his bicep muscle and curl up into the top of his arm. I have never heard such an agonizing cry of pain in my life, I almost threw up at how sick it made me. That is the kind of thing you cannot unsee, and that is one of the many dangers of taking steroids or overtraining your body.
