The Great Fossil - (Cradily's awesomness V2)

Status
Not open for further replies.
Ohai there. My other thread sorta failed - my noobiness. Anyways, this is version 2 of it, my second post ever! I had spent ages trying to plan a sandstorm team in-game, writing all the counters, weaknesses and pokes that could demolish it. But then I saw SHODDY BATTLE! I didn't have to EV train or breed to perfection yet. I could test the team first. So this is one of my first battles using Sandstorm.

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause

My Team:

SpiffyTest's Team:

SpiffyTest's moves will look like this.
aeOHai's moves will look like this.
other text will look like this.
Leftovers will be removed.
Sandstorm/hail damage will be removed.
Scores will be shown after each KO.

SpiffyTest sent out Skarmory (lvl 100 Skarmory ?).
aeOHai sent out Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!
Skarmory used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!
Tyranitar used Stone Edge.

---

I send out a T-tar, the SStormer of my team, while he sends out a Skarmory. I decided with T-Tar, start a storm at the start of the match. Typically, Skarmory sets up a Stealth Rock, while I try to take it out with repeated assault of Stone Edges. Enemy Skarms are pains in the neck. -.- Especially since I don't have any fire type moves. Sucky.

Skarmory used Spikes.
Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!

But Scizor is also confused, so it might hit itself and faint. The only poke I can switch into now would be T-Tar or Cradily. Props:

SpiffyTest, for lasting that long.

T-Tar, for setting up the Sandstorm which enabled my Cradily to tank.

Cradily, for winning 1v4.

Slops:

Me, for not paying attention, and using Rest when I could have easily KO's with Rock Slide.

Thank you for reading this warstory. This is technically my first one. :D

This is the same game as before, only with better formatting and bare minimum commenting. There was no prediction, both players had a considerable lack of skill, random last-Pokemon sweeps happen all the time, and I nearly stopped reading when I saw that you tried to Stone Edge a Skarmory.

"I was thinking at least 50%"

I stopped reading there. If you want to show us how awesome cradily is then make a discussion thread. Don't post an awful warstory.

Also we can see that you sent out TTAR and used Stone Edge. It was in the battle log. Why does it need to be repeated in the commentary?

The organization of this is nice but this reminds me so much of my first warstory with a Gastrodon 1v6. I got a lot of negative feedback and I don't blame them. These kinds of sweeps lose their interest values very quickly. The main difference between mine and yours is that yours had an extremely long stall-sleep moment that's quite bothersome to read. It's also the reason why most stall warstories aren't interesting. They drag on so long that it makes your vision blurry. Try to get very close matches. Those are the best to make into warstories.

Sorry, but this doesn't seem to be a good battle at all. You tried to stone edge a skarmory that you saw had lefties when you had a magnezone on your team (and skarm didn't roost for some reason. . .).

As predicted, Suicune only does a measly 27% with a 4x effective move. Things are started to go in my favour - SpiffyTest is probably going to try and kill me with a assault of Ice Beams, which will prove ineffective.

I thought I would just point out that ice is only 2x effective against Rock/Grass. Well done on the win though.

You probably felt good raping a team with a Cradily :P I fell victim to it once.

That being aside, this is just not warstory material by any definition of the word. First off, it has to have been a "war"...definitely not that. "Story" also lacks, as your commentary was not good or in depth. Nothing was said about your thought process, predictions, etc. Next time, I suggest you do more comments like this.

You're obviously brand new, so you should definitely look at warstories in the past to see the sort of thing us Smogoners are looking for. Also, please get a feel for the metagame.

On that blunt note, I'm glad we have so many people attempting warstories. We just need to make the stories better. Good luck in the future with battling!

So you got raped by a Machamp then swept with Cradily.

So very boring. No tactics and not fun to read at all. Nothing memorable.

I stopped reading with Skarmory used steel wing and didn't have roost.

That was after struggling to read through you trying to stone edge a skarmory to death.

The formatting was ok. The comments weren't great, but tolerable.

But the fact is, you basically just owned some random noob. Steel Wing on Skarmory? Remember, we're here to read warstories between competent players, otherwise we're just disappointed.

Before your next warstory, please spend some time learning the ins and outs of the metagame before writing. As your CRE advances, you'll play better people, which will mean more storyable battles. Also, try playing on the Suspect ladder. The only people who play there are people who are truly interested in smogon, so you will definitely find good battlers.

And you don't have to play Panamaxis or Earthworm or whomever, you just have to play someone who knows what the hell he's doing.
