BLACK SULPHUR CALDERA

Black Sulphur Caldera is a deep and blackened pit that once erupted in a massive fiery explosion many hundreds of years ago. The terrain is now mostly barren with torched and odourous burns across its face. Nothing lives within miles of the area, not even Fire-type Pokemon, as the land is so inhospitable that very little can sustain life above ground. At the base of the caldera, however, there exists a small pit that recently opened up due to seismic activity. Some Pokemon trainers have ventured into the pit to explore, only to return with their whole Pokemon team fainted and them babbling nonsense about the magma demon therein. Intrigued, you prepare your Pokemon and decide to explore it yourself. Hopefully you'll find yourself better prepared than those others before you.

a) Enter Black Sulphur Caldera.
b) Leave Black Sulphur Caldera.

Black Sulphur Caldera - Boulder Maze

As you enter the Caldera, you instantly find yourself in near pitch-black darkness. You are forced to tread carefully, as one wrong step here could result in an injury or something, even though you can barely make out the walls. As you continue to search the place, trying to find the end, you end up barely making out two critters who seem to be used to this darkness. You try to ask them for help, but the two critters, who turn out to be Magby & Aron, see you as an intruder & start attacking you immediately, forcing you to send in three Pokemon! Battle Begin!

Boulder Maze

Rocks are everywhere, and the darkness seems all-consuming. There is a faint glow about the arena that allows your Pokemon to almost see, but at the same time, they just can't aim properly in this blackness. There is no water anywhere nearby, but nothing about the arena seems to hinder you in any other way. Hopefully all of the areas you battle in here will be this benign.

Summary:

  • Arena Type: Cave
  • No water source present.
  • One (1) stage accuracy drop for Pokemon without Rock, Ground, or Dark typing that is maintained at the end of each round.

Yay, you knock the stuffing out of the Lackeys, dealing massive damage to both Lackeys, & killing one of them, leaving one Lackey left. In return, the Lackeys fire a barrage of spread moves & deal a fair bit of damage to all of your Pokemon...Issue your actions.

THE GRAVITY IS INTENSE...(3r)

Black Sulphur Caldera - Sand Pit

You come upon a wide, circular room, and find that the texture of the very floor seems to have changed as you walk onto it. The floor is covered in slightly grainy sand, and looks eerily ominous. You can tell that something bad is going to happen here, though you honestly don't know what. There are few options available to you. You can either walk over the sand to the other side, or you can attempt to navigate the boulders on the westward side of the room where the sand doesn't appear to be. What do you do?

a) Walk across the sand.
b) Navigate the boulders.

Black Sulphur Caldera - Sand Pit

You manoeuvre partway through the boulders and find, much to your surprise, that they seem to move around you. The ground cracks around your feet and sand seems to roll through the revealed crevices. Just like that, two of the boulders strike Swamp Thing & Arghonaut, sending them crashing against the far wall, pinning them down. As they attempt to get out from under the boulders, your remaining Pokemon stands resolute between you and whatever is assaulting your team. Just then, a sandstorm maliciously whips up about you, and an audible yawn comes from the epicentre toward your Pokemon. Feeling drowsy, your Pokemon stands face to face with what finally is revealed to you as a Hippowdon, which your Pokemon now finally has a chance to react to.

Black Sulphur Caldera - Smoke Geysers

After the events beforehand, you continue your way through the maze, feeling at unease over the darkness, & the fact that you have to use the walls you can barely make out as a guide. Eventually, after a while, you see light at the end of the tunnel! What could this be? You rush towards it, & indeed, you find light! But, however, what you end up in, is an area more open than the others with numerous holes poking out of the ground. You approach them cautiously, and suddenly find that they erupt at random and let out intensely overheated smoke that prevents you from seeing effectively. You need to get by, and you can either creep around carefully or dive through them. What do you do?

a) Creep around and avoid the geysers.
b) Charge through the geysers.

Black Sulphur Caldera - Smoke Geysers

Not feeling game, you decide to creep your way around the geysers, & you do so carefully. Your carefulness proved itself to be very useful, as you make your way to the other side of the room with no casualties. After that, you move on, further into the Caldera, & back into the darkness...

Black Sulphur Caldera - Magma Cavern

Continuing on through the wretched maze of endless darkness, you suddenly notice that it was starting to become noticeably hotter...Noticing this, you assume that something is going to happen 'around-the-corner', you tread with even more caution than before, & as you round the right-hand corner, you see more light at the end of the tunnel, & maybe, just maybe, you've finally found your way out of the maze! Rushing towards the exit, you make it & come across another room.

Walking down the stairs of this room, you notice that this is the hottest it has been yet. Examining this underground place, you see a pool of lava nearby, & an exit to your right, down another flight of stairs. With the heat so stifling, you feel that it is the best opportunity to run towards the exit & you do, until...

"HALT! WHO GOES THERE!!!"

You suddenly stop, hearing a loud voice in your head, & you scan the place, wondering where the voice came from.

"YOU DARE INVADE OUR TERRITORY, YOU SHALL PAY FOR THIS!"

All of a sudden, a fiery being of magma bursts out of the magma & points its cannon-shaped arm at you, like a pistol-armed police officer shouting "Freeze!" It forces you away from the exit & into the centre of the room, where it was accompanied by a rock-behemoth. The two advance, & you are forced to send in your Pokemon, ready to try & fend off these mercenaries! Battle Begin!

Magma Pool

The heat is stifling, but not to the level of being painful.. Yet. The sheer heat of the arena causes the environment to be as if the sun was shining brightly, even underground. Pokemon seem to exist within the lava and will erupt forth to assist your enemies through some mechanism you don't quite understand.

Summary:

  • Arena Type: Cave
  • No water source present.
  • Weather: Stifling Heat
    • Unchangeable
    • Possesses all normal features of Sunny Day
  • Every five (5) rounds of combat, a Pokemon will burst forth from the lava to join the enemy team in battle.
