Only Dogfish44, Maxim, Its_A_Random, Deck Knight, & any required sub-referees may post in this thread until the completion of the TLR. Any other post made will be deleted, & possibly subjected to moderation. Thank you.

Oh no, another dual TLR! This time, Dogfish44 & Maxim attempt to head into uncharted territory in Ruined Eden, apparently attempting to challenge a TLR not named Amperage Stream. Will they be successful heading into the unknown? Or will the unseen threats put paid to their chances? Either way, we will find out. In this thread.

    Nature: Modest (+1 Sp.Atk, -1 Atk)
    Type: Electric/Dragon
Electric STAB; 50% reduction in paralysis chance from other electrical attacks, perfect accuracy and 30% chance of Protect breaking Thunder during Rain. Superior senses in power plant environments. Dragon STAB; more in touch with legendary or special auras in arenas. Able to use Thrash without losing focus.

    Abilities:
Shield Dust: (Innate) This pokemon has dust covering the outside of its body that prevents opponents secondary effects from taking place (eg burn from Flamethrower). It does not block direct status moves (such as Thunder Wave.)
Static: (Innate) This pokemon’s body is surrounded by an electric field that has a 30% chance of paralyzing opponents that use contact moves on this pokemon.
Overcoat (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon has a sturdy exterior that rebuffs the elements, making it immune to damage inflicted by bad weather. If the Pokemon is already immune to at least one (1) kind of weather by typing or a different ability, Overcoat reduces the Base Attack Power of all oncoming attacks by one (1).

    Abilities:
Adaptability (Innate):The moves that match this Pokemon’s type have their Base Attack Power increased by two (2).
Download (Innate): At the beginning of the match, the Pokemon analyzes the opponent and downloads data that lets it deal more damage. This Pokemon receives a one (1) stage increase on the offense that strikes an opponent’s weaker defense stat. (e.g. does more damage with special attacks when facing Aggron, which has higher defense, and attack when facing Hypno, which has higher special defense. For ties, Special Attack is raised.) This boost is maintained at the end of each round.

    Abilities:
Ability 1: Motor Drive (Innate) - This Pokemon nullifies any electrical attack damage and converts the energy from any electrical attack (inc. Guts: (Innate) This Pokemon is tenacious and will work ever harder when under a status condition, raising the base attack power of all its physical attacks by two (2). Pokemon with Guts ignore the attack drop from burn.

    RUINED EDEN

Set before you is a massive island that humans have long ago abandoned. Leaving from the helicopter you took here onto a vista, you look down & see a land shrouded in a thick poisonous mist. Directly in front of you is a thoroughly unappealing Swamp, which covers an expansive amount of land. You can see a Stream feeding into further up and to the right, in an area that appears to be under a constant, violent electrical storm. To the right a massive build-up of land forms a caldera around a huge lake of lava that is led into by a vast expanse of barren rock.

Scattered throughout the wreckage you see some indications that humans once lived here, but that a cataclysm occurred. What little you can see through the tinted fog looks like deeply corroded ruins of civilisation. You turn your attention to the very far side of the island, behind the lake of lava. In the distance sits a massive tower that would at once point been a pillar of civilisation, but now appears to be a massive tower of blackened soot, standing as a permanent reminder of the permanence of nothing but entropy. Humanity has abandoned this place, but rumours of legends still abound. You survey the pathways down from the Vista. Which place do you approach first?

    a) Enter Toxic Swamp.
    b) Enter Amperage Stream.
    c) Enter Molten Lake.
    d) Enter Tower of Ash.
    e) Leave Ruined Eden.

As I got off the helicopter, I looked around at my surroundings. It was a forsaken place, almost as bad as Stormrage Mountain! The elements coalesced here in unnatural harmony, and I soon found myself trying to pick my poison. I had taken three ground types with me, so I figured Molten Lake would be the best option, but I couldn't help but worry that all which awaited me was an assured destruction.

"Well, here we are at last. Finally managed to get past the queue at the loading dock and now we can get to exploring the Molten Lake!"

Primary Objective: Scout the Molten Lake so that, in the event of failure, I may construct a much more well balanced team to tackle it.

Secondary Objective: Reach the boss of Molten Lake to get one step closer to the Tower of Ash

OROAoL (Objective Requiring Obscene Amount of Luck): Catch Entei.

"With that out of the way, are you ready guys?"

    "Ready when you are captain!"

    "I will crush my enemies."

"Perhaps we will meet new friends here!"

    Toxic Swamp - Murky Grove

Not interested in a long walk, you decide that the best path to take from the Vista was to walk directly through to the Toxic Swamp. Feeling satisfied, you walk, bracing yourself for gaseous smells & whatnot.

After a minute or two, you walk in what looks like the opening of the Toxic Swamp. Entering, you could already notice a gaseous smell, & it did not smell good, as you scan the place. It was fairly murky, with a pond of water nearby, but the water looked contaminated, & was not drinkable. Besides, who knows what diseases you could get. The place was surrounded by a canopy of trees, & it was rather dark. Nevertheless, the corrupted look of the place was the least of your concerns, as you were attacked by Ekans & Gulpin! As they attack you, you are forced to send in your Pokémon! Battle Begin!

    Murky Grove (open)
    Restrictions: None.

Description: Murky Grove is the area where the player enters first to encounter the lackeys. The area is a simple swampy place with all external sources, but Pokémon need to be careful with using the sludge-filled water, since using it can cause the Pokémon to suffer Toxic Poison, & has a variety of effects depending on the move! Additionally, the player must be wary, since the sludge in the water is potent enough to cause the air to be poisonous!

    Visible Mechanics:

    • Arena Type: Water's Edge (Produces Bubblebeam).
    • Moves requiring an External Water Source will work, but...
      • When used by a Pokémon owned by the player, the user will be inflicted with Toxic Poisoning, and...
        • In the case of Surf, all Pokémon struck have a 30% chance of being poisoned.
        • In the case of Soak, the target is poisoned.
    • The poisonous air may inflict Poison on Pokemon.

    Molten Lake - Molten Entrance

Interested in the caldera in the far right, you decide that the best course of action to take from the Vista is to walk your way to the Molten Lake. Ready for what could be searing heat, you bravely head your way into the brushy forest, on the way to the caldera.

Going through the brushy forest path, you notice that the temperature is staring to get hotter. Checking a thermometer, you notice that the temperature is 30 degrees (Celsius). Despite this apparent heat, you continue on, & eventually, you arrive at the entrance to this lake of lava. The brushy forest path that you were walking on suddenly turned to a dark reddish, rocky terrain, & the massive lake itself was still a few kilometres away. You can see the steam ooze out of the lava into the daylight, & it has you a bit afraid that you may fall into this lake. Nevertheless, that is the least of your concerns, as from either side of your eye, you notice two Pokémon coming for you! You dodge their attacks, & catch their identities as Growlithe & Numel! Realising that they see you as an intruder, you send in the three Pokémon you decided to bring with you into this place! And with that, the battle was on.

    Rocky Plains (open)
Restrictions: No Natural Grass, No External Water Source, Rain & Hail can never occur

Description: This battle takes place on basically, a rocky terrain, where there is no lava lake in sight. There is a smoky feel about in the air, & it is fairly hot, but other than that, not much.

    Visible Mechanics:

    • Arena Type: Rock.

Soon, I found myself up against a couple of Lackeys. Thankfully my instincts were correct and this place comprised mostly of fire types. Of course, I soon learned of a slight flaw in my scouting run....

"Well, this is gonna hurt. Rock-Papper-Scissors, I need you to set up a Light Screen and-"

"Me not know Light Screen boss."

    "...wait WHAT!?"

"Nobody ever taught me how to use dual screens. Don't worry though, I'm sure you have a brilliant plan for this Light Clay-"

"THAT WAS MY BRILLIANT PLAN! WHO ON EARTH DOESN'T PUT DUAL SCREENS ON A FIDGIT!?"

    *shrug*

"Ugh...well I guess it could be worse. Anyways, I think we can still get past this crap in a fairly creative way."

    DOGFISH44

    Toxic Swamp - Murky Grove

And so, Short Fuse deftly avoids a synchronised wave of poison which poisons Data, as the Porygon-Z & Nimbus gang up on the Ekans, likewise Short Fuse who surfaces to strike him. Short Fuse & Data then join forces to finish off the Ekans as Nimbus heals Data of its poison, but it all surmounts to nothing, as after Gulpin fires another wave of poisonous sludge, Data ends up choking on the poisonous air & becomes afflicted with Poison again!

    Molten Lake - Molten Entrance

As Rock-Paper-Scissors summoned a draft behind the back of your team, Rosch & Quartz go to burrow into the rocky soil, though Quartz did not get underground in time to take a hit from a wave of searing hit from Growlithe, though it also hit the Fidgit. Numel then let off an explosion of fire which Rosch & Quartz avoided, but it triggered his ally's Flash Fire & burned Rock-Paper-Scissors. Rosch & Quartz then surfaced to strike the Numel, as the Fidgit spread a protective barrier across his team! Rosch then struck the Growlithe at a fast enough speed to make her cringe, but Quartz then hammered the Numel with his bone thrown like a boomerang to deal massive damage, only for the Numel to survive & strike Quartz with super-effective orbs!

    DOGFISH44

    Toxic Swamp - Murky Grove

Short Fuse goes to duck for cover once more, as Data strikes the Gulpin with a triangular beam, & Nimbus paralyses it with a pulse of electricity, as the Gulpin fires another wave of sludge for more damage, which Short Fuse avoided, before coming up to strike the Gulpin. Short Fuse then fires a pulse of electricity at the Gulpin, while Data replenishes some lost health & Nimbus chimes a bell to heal Data's impurities. Once again, though, it surmounted to nothing, as the Gulpin fired off a far more potent wave of sludge, which, while tiring the Gulpin, deals more damage to your team, & afflicts Data & Short Fuse with Poison! This must be your unlucky day...

    Molten Lake - Molten Entrance

Desperate to take out the Numel, Rosch makes a fast rush at the Numel, striking... But managed to survive, as Rock-Paper-Scissors sent a friendly beam Quartz's way, healing it of same lost health, who then hammers the Growlithe with his bone. Growlithe then rams into Quartz enveloped in flames, dealing damage to both while the Numel sent a wave of searing heat in the direction of your team. As the Fidgit chills & the Colossoil bores his horn into the Growlithe, Quartz flings his bone into the Growlithe, when suddenly, following another wave of searing heat coming from the Numel, the Growlithe suddenly smacks Rosch with one almighty jab which deals huge damage! Luckily, the attack has forced the Growlithe to take a breather, however...

    Toxic Swamp - Toxic Vista

You come to an area of the swamp that looks rather pleasant, which is strange, considering how murky the trek has been up to this point. The pool of water ahead of you looks rather pure, although it still looks fairly toxic, & the entire area is shrouded by a canopy of trees. There is a sack ahead of you, right next to the lake & could contain items! You could pick it up, but you do not know what could happen. A passageway stands to your left, which serves as an exit from this vista. What do you do?

    a) Pick up the Sack.
    b) Ignore the Sack.

    Molten Lake - Lava Crossing

Walking through the rough, rocky terrain along the way, your path suddenly comes to a halt! Why? Simple. You have come across a stream of lava that blacks your progress. There is a series of rocks flowing across the lava that you can try to cross, but they do not look stable enough to cross...You look to your right, & you see a bridge made of rocks that look stable enough to cross safely, but either way, there could be a trap... Feeling uneasy, you know that you are going to have to cross... Time to make a decision. What will you do?

    a) Take a risk & cross the lava stream by hopping across the rocks.
    b) Play it safe & cross the Rocky Bridge.

I'm not gonna even bother with flavor after that fiasco, there's not enough logic in the world to justify my actions. -_-

    Toxic Swamp - Toxic Vista

Not interested in the sack, you simply turn towards the exit towards the left, & leave without incident. The vista did look rather stunning, though, considering this is a swamp...

    Toxic Swamp - Dual Lake

You come to a part of the swamp there there is two lakes of water close to each other, and there is the usual trees surrounding the area. The two lakes do not touch, but there is a big rocky wall conveniently placed to prevent you from going through the middle to the other side. You can make out an exit from behind the wall, but it is pretty obvious you have to go around either side of either lake. To your left was a lake that was very muddy, but still poisonous. To your right was the same old pure-looking lake that is actually contaminated. Which lake will you go around?

    a) Go around the Muddy Lake.
    b) Go around the Pure Lake.

    Toxic Swamp - Dual Lake

Feeling that the muddy lake was too mucky, you begin to walk around the pure lake. Your trek goes smoothly to a point, when suddenly, two Qwilfish pop out of the water & attack you! Threatening you with their spikes, you send in your Pokémon, & the battle was on!

    Poisonous Bayou (open)
    Restrictions: None.

Description: The battle takes place in the Toxic Swamp, alongside a poisonous lake of some sort. The water, just like in Murky Grove, is toxic, but it is not potent enough to cause the air to be toxic...

    Visible Mechanics:

    • Arena Type: Water's Edge (Produces Bubblebeam).
    • Moves requiring an External Water Source will work, but...
      • When used by a Pokémon owned by the player, the user will be inflicted with Toxic Poisoning, and...
        • In the case of Surf, all Pokemon struck have a 30% chance of being poisoned.
        • In the case of Soak, the target is poisoned.

    Toxic Swamp - Dual Lake

Your team begins by ganging up on one of the Qwilfish, delivering a nasty dent in it, as the two Qwilfish act in unison to synchronise their waves of poisonous sludge to deal hefty damage to your team. Worried, Data replenishes some lost energy as Short Fuse finally finishes off one of the Qwilfish. The remaining Qwilfish had other ideas & released another wave of toxic sludge, as Nimbus proceeds to paralyse her with a pulse of electricity. You seem to have the upper hand, but with the poison combining with the waves of poisonous sludge are both starting to take their toll on your team. Can they continue to weather this for any longer?
