Mysterious Cove

"Did you ever hear of the Legends?"

"What Legends?"

"Of Pokemon so rare, so powerful, that their very existence is debated even amongst Pokemon researchers."

"Oh, those legends. What of it?"

"They say there is a cove with a rare Pokemon in it. The Pokemon around there aren't particularly strong, and the place itself has been checked time and time again. But people still insist there's a legend there. But it can only be found if you can hear its voice."

"Sounds like a fairy tale. Lay off the whisky."

"Whatever you say. I'm heading over there to check it out."

There is a cove hidden deep in a forest that beckons those few chosen ones who seek the legends. In order to get there you will have to cross several kinds of treacherous terrain, but this may be your first chance to get a taste of adventure. A mysterious man meets you at the entrance, signaling you forward. Oddly, it seems like you're the only one who can see them. You ignore the jests of your friends and follow him. You think you've heard him speak before, but you can't quite remember what his voice sounds like. It strikes you as odd, but you head towards the Mysterious Cove anyway.

Mysterious Cove

Brush Aside

As you head up to the cove you first have to travel through a small forest.

"Be on the lookout." A voice says to you. "In places like this, the Pokemon are highly territorial. Don't be fooled by their youth, they are wily creatures."

Not so soon as the sentence finishes are you attacked by Ledyba and Nincada. bgm

Stumbling into the forest, NJ wonders what exactly he's doing here. Coming up with no good answer, he decides to press on anyways. After listening to the voice (And wondering if wily has anything to do with looneytunes) NJ whips out his pokemon and issues actions.

Popeye: Protect ~ Rock Slide
Murdoc: Razor Wind Ledyba ~ Razor Wind Nincada
Fra Mauro: Rock Slide ~ Protect

I love forests, thick with obtstructive plants, full to the brim with hostile territorial creatures...oh look there's some now. Interesting.
Oh it looke like they get their moves in before us too, that Ledyba's already setting up Reflect, fantastic. Oh well no use lamenting it, Aron, start with Aerial Ace on Ledyba, while Pupitar hits it with Rock Slide (not both opponents). Slowpoke, set up a Trick Room to convert those evasion drops into accuracy boosts. Then, Aron and Pupitar whallop that Ledyba with Head Smash and Stone Edge respectively while Slowpoke Disables Nincada's X-Scissor.

This seems like a waste of a perfectly good Ultra Ball, but regardless, I throw an Ultra Ball at Nincada. If I'm not mistaken, Nincada has a 255 catch rate so the ball should catch it without issue.
edit: Not as easy as i thought, oh well.

Oh shoot, i read those actions wrong. I'll have to be careful about that.

NJ shows a smirk as the bugs drop like flies (Oh my gosh, really?) and wonders how hard this will be later on.

Popeye: Waterfall Nincada ~ Drain Punch Nincada
If anyone tries to use Bug Bite, Protect against it.
Murdoc: Sludge Bomb Nincada ~ Razor Wind
Fra Mauro: Rock Slide ~ Rollout

I believe that Rollout hits one opponent randomly, but if i have to target someone specifically, just say so.

a) Grab the Oran Berries
b) Continue through the forest.

This seems like a trap somehow... I'll take all the berries.
*wince*

Edit: Rather than waste one of the last 10 greek letters on Nincada, I'm going to christen him with the "kinda a greek letter but not quite" name of Sampi

Your instincts prove unfortunately right, as just as you pocket the berries, Omega gets wrapped up in a Spider Web by Spinarak and dragged into the deep forest. It is going to take you two rounds to find the little menace. Meanwhile, Spinarak Hones its Claws and looks at your trapped Pokemon as if it is a delicacy.

A voice speaks to you and says "it looks like one of your Pokemon fell into a trap. It will have to work hard to fend it off, the Pokemon that lay in wait are perhaps the most devious of all. Remain calm and you should be able to keep your wits about you." bgm

As you head out of the forest you come across a Masquerain, who blasts the area with water creating a narrow strip of passable land only one of your Pokemon can cross at a time. Looks like it'll have to face it on its own.

"Heh, didn't think there were many of those around. That's a Rare Encounter. Some Pokemon don't come out much, but there are pretty strong. You can only send one of your Pokemon after them though. Trust me, it could have been worse." bgm

Choose which pokemon shall face Masquerain and issue its actions (3 of them).

"Well this should be fun" NJ mutters as he wonders who to send. After thinking it through for a while, he cautiously signaled for Murdoc to fight the Masquerain.

Fish, Maw:

You leave the forest and come to the mouth of the cove. It appears to be low tide, as two rock paths barely sticking up out of the water are the only way in. Their winding nature makes them look like long whiskers. Looking closely at the water, you can tell it is slightly illuminated, though you don't know why. In any case, it looks like you won't be able to cross without some resistance.
